<p>It was praised for its flagship-level specs and low price point, which was made possible by Poco&#8217;s cost-cutting measures. Since then, the Poco F series has continued to impress with each new iteration, offering top-of-the-line hardware and features at an affordable price. With the upcoming release of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/poco-f5/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Poco F5</a>, expectations are high, and fans are eagerly awaiting its arrival. Let&#8217;s dive into what we know about the highly anticipated Poco F5 smartphone, based on the leaks and rumors circulating online.</p>

<h2>Design &amp; display</h2>

<p>Recent reports suggest that the Poco F5 is essentially a rebranded version of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-note-12-turbo/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Redmi Note 12 Turbo</a>, which is exclusive to the Chinese market. The F5 is expected to share the same design as the Note 12 Turbo, featuring a boxy frame with a curved back for a comfortable grip. The back of the device is expected to have three separate camera lenses arranged in a clean and minimalistic design, with a small opening for the LED flash.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Redmi-Note-12-Turbo-41-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-529273" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Redmi-Note-12-Turbo-41-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Redmi-Note-12-Turbo-41-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Redmi-Note-12-Turbo-41-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Redmi-Note-12-Turbo-41-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Redmi-Note-12-Turbo-41-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Redmi-Note-12-Turbo-41-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Redmi-Note-12-Turbo-41-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Redmi-Note-12-Turbo-41.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Redmi Note 12 Turbo Snowstorm White</figcaption></figure>

<p>In addition to the sleek and minimalistic back design, Poco is set to introduce a distinct Snowstorm White color variant that has generated considerable excitement among netizens in anticipation of the device&#8217;s release. This option boasts a frost pattern design, combining hues of white and blue to create the effect of an icy surface. The lenses are also painted white, meshing well with the overall design.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" width="1200" height="675" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/20230504_134338_00001.jpg?x44794" alt="Poco" class="wp-image-534607" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/20230504_134338_00001.jpg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/20230504_134338_00001-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/20230504_134338_00001-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/20230504_134338_00001-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/20230504_134338_00001-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/20230504_134338_00001-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/20230504_134338_00001-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /><figcaption>Poco F5 official live image</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>However, if you are not a fan of the Icy looks of the Snowstorm White color, Poco has you covered with a minimalistic Carbon Black color option, which features a carbon fiber-like pattern.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Redmi-Note-12-Turbo-27-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-529259" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Redmi-Note-12-Turbo-27-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Redmi-Note-12-Turbo-27-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Redmi-Note-12-Turbo-27-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Redmi-Note-12-Turbo-27-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Redmi-Note-12-Turbo-27-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Redmi-Note-12-Turbo-27-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Redmi-Note-12-Turbo-27-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Redmi-Note-12-Turbo-27.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>According to recent reports, the upcoming POCO F5 is expected to feature a generously sized 6.67-inch AMOLED display, complete with a 120Hz refresh rate and a punch-hole camera located at the front. The device&#8217;s display is said to boast a sleek design, featuring slim bezels and an impressive 93% screen-to-body ratio.</p>

<h2>Performance</h2>

<p>The Poco F5 will be powered by the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 SoC. For those unaware, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 is a recently unveiled powerful and efficient System-on-a-Chip (SoC) from Qualcomm. Built on a 6nm manufacturing process, it features an octa-core CPU with Kryo 670 cores and an Adreno 642 GPU, delivering high performance for demanding applications. It also supports 5G connectivity and features an integrated AI engine for enhanced user experiences. </p>

<p><br>Rumor has it that the POCO F5 will feature a triple camera setup on the back panel, with a 64MP primary camera sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP macro sensor. This camera system promises to capture high-quality photos and videos. Meanwhile, on the front, the device is expected to come with a 16MP selfie camera that will allow users to capture great self-portraits and videos. Given that the POCO F5 is expected to sport the same camera setup as the Redmi Note 12 Turbo, interested users can refer to our<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/04/12/redmi-note-12-turbo-hands-on/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> brief review and camera samples</a> of the latter to have an idea of what to anticipate from the F5&#8217;s camera system.</p>

<h2>Expected Pricing</h2>

<p>Reports have <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/04/28/poco-f5-price-india/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">stated</a> that the Poco F5 will debut in India with a price tag below Rs. 30,000 (~$367). In addition to that, with offers, the cost is said to be as low as Rs. 26,000 (~$318). That being said, the brand usually sells its devices cheaper in India, so other markets could expect the price to be a bit higher.</p>

<h2>Performance</h2>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Realme-GT-Neo-5-SE-Blue-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="Realme GT Neo 5 SE Blue" class="wp-image-526653" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Realme-GT-Neo-5-SE-Blue-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Realme-GT-Neo-5-SE-Blue-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Realme-GT-Neo-5-SE-Blue-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Realme-GT-Neo-5-SE-Blue-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Realme-GT-Neo-5-SE-Blue-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Realme-GT-Neo-5-SE-Blue-746x420.jpg 746w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Realme-GT-Neo-5-SE-Blue.jpg 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption><em>Realme GT Neo 5 SE in Final Fantasy Blue</em></figcaption></figure></div>

<p>It is confirmed that the Realme GT Neo 5 SE will feature the new Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chipset. The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chipset is configured similarly to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. It comprises a Cortex-X2 core that runs at 2.91GHz, three Cortex-A710 cores clocked at 2.49GHz, and four Cortex-A510 cores that operate at 1.8GHz. Notably, this is the first instance of the Cortex-X2 prime core being integrated into a 7-series SoC. However, it falls short of the performance of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, which also includes this chip. The Adreno 725 GPU is built into the chipset, which is equivalent to the Adreno 730 on the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, but with a lower clock speed limit of 580mAh instead of 900mAh.</p>

<p>On the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/03/22/realme-gt-neo-5-se-antutu/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">AnTuTu benchmark</a>, the smartphone has scored 1,009,127 points, which is an amazing score for a mid-range device. The chipset of the device is paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM, 1TB of UFS 3,1 storage, and Android 13 OS out of the box. The device is also confirmed to feature a 5,500mAh battery unit with 100W fast charging.</p>

<h2>Camera</h2>

<p>While Realme has remained tight-lipped regarding the camera specifications of the upcoming GT Neo 5 SE, various leaks suggest that the smartphone will boast an impressive camera setup. According to the rumors, the front camera of the device will have a resolution of 16MP, ensuring sharp and detailed selfies. Additionally, the rear camera system is expected to feature a 64MP OmniVision primary camera with an f/1.79 aperture. This powerful camera will enable users to capture stunning photos with exceptional clarity and detail. The smartphone is also rumored to have an 8MP Sony IMX355 ultra-wide sensor, which will enable users to capture more in the frame, and a 2MP sensor.</p>

<p><a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/qualcomm">Qualcomm</a> announced the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 only recently as its latest mid-range mobile processor. The chipset is yet to make its debut on a smartphone but early benchmarking scores have revealed it offers an impressive improvement over other Snapdragon 7 series chipsets. The processor will seemingly rival last year’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, which powers many flagship phones out there.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/03/17/qualcomm-snapdragon-7-gen-2-announced-confirmed-to-power-redmi-note-12-turbo-and-realme-gt-neo-5-se/">Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2</a> has been unveiled as the successor to Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. Now if you think the name is confusing, you are not alone. The brand did not release the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1 and Snapdragon 7 Gen 2. The new processor promises significant performance and power efficiency improvements. Its main Kryo CPU core is clocked at 2.91GHz and has a 1+3+4 CPU architecture that delivers over a 50% increase in performance compared to the SD7 Gen 1.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="585" height="1024" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Realme-GT-Neo-5-SE-AnTuTu-585x1024-1.webp?x44794" alt="Realme-GT-Neo-5-SE-AnTuTu-585x1024-1" class="wp-image-525319" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Realme-GT-Neo-5-SE-AnTuTu-585x1024-1.webp 585w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Realme-GT-Neo-5-SE-AnTuTu-585x1024-1-171x300.webp 171w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Realme-GT-Neo-5-SE-AnTuTu-585x1024-1-240x420.webp 240w" sizes="(max-width: 585px) 100vw, 585px" /></figure></div>

<p>The new Snapdragon chipset is going to make its debut on the Redmi Note 12 Turbo, and will later power the Realme GT Neo 5 SE as well. Early benchmarking scores of the two devices suggest the SD 7+ Gen 2 will offer a massive performance upgrade. An AnTuTu v9 benchmark test shows that a Realme GT Neo5 SE device has achieved a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/03/22/realme-gt-neo-5-se-antutu/">total score of 1,009,127</a>, with CPU and GPU scores of 255,246 and 360,306, respectively. AnTuTu&#8217;s report confirms that the Adreno 725 GPU powers the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 feature Adreno 730 and Adreno 740 GPUs, respectively.</p>

<p>As rightly pointed out by <em><a href="https://www.notebookcheck.net/Early-Qualcomm-Snapdragon-7-Plus-Gen-2-benchmarks-show-Snapdragon-8-Plus-Gen-1-performance-levels.703235.0.html">Notebookcheck</a>, </em>the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 goes head-to-head against even the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in CPU lead tasks. However, the publication also points out that the Adreno 725 GPU, while delivering more than twice the performance of the Adreno 642L found in the Snapdragon 778G, still lags behind the Adreno 730 GPU found in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.</p>
