In November 2022, Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform. The US-based chip company has now confirmed that it will announce a new Snapdragon mobile platform on March 17 in Beijing, China. In all likelihood, the company may unveil the rumored Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 1 chipset.

Several reports have revealed that Qualcomm is working on two Snapdragon 7-series chipsets. The SoC with part number SM7550 is expected to launch in the second half of this year and is likely to be called the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2. The chip that is scheduled to break cover on March 17 is said to have the SM7475 part number. Speculation is rife that this chip will be called the Snapdragon 7 Plus 1.

Qualcomm to announce new chip on March 17

Rumors are rife that brands like Redmi, Realme, Honor, Oppo, and Vivo will launch Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 1-powered phones in the near future. It is speculated that the Redmi Note 12T Turbo and Realme GT Neo 5 SE could be the first phones to feature it. The Note 12 Turbo is said to get rebadged as the Poco F5 in the global market. Hence, it may arrive as the first Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 1 phone for markets outside of China.

Reports have claimed that the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 1 will be a 4nm chipset manufactured by TSMC. As far as configurations is concerned, it is said to have a Cortex-X2 prime core working at 2.95GHz, three Cortex-A510 cores clocking at 2.5GHz, and four Cortex-A710 cores working at 1.8GHz. For graphics, the chipset is equipped with a 580 Hz Adreno 725 GPU. The SoC was spotted with a score of 1,029,731 on AnTuTu benchmarks last month. On Geekbench, the chipset scored 1215 and 4064 points in the single-core and multi-core tests, respectively.

The 3C certification body in China approved a new Realme phone with the model number RMX3700 last week. Rumors have it will be called the Realme GT Neo 5 SE (or GT Neo 5 Lite) when it arrives in the market. Today, the device was found in the database of the country’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (via. TechGoing), which means it’s getting closer to being released. Hence, it appears that the device may go official either by the end of this month or in April.

As usual, the MIIT certification has not revealed anything about the Realme GT Neo 5 SE’s specifications. However, a recent leak by tipster Digital Chat Station spilt out a lot of information on its key specs.

Realme GT Neo 5 SE CMIIT listing

Realme GT Neo 5 SE specifications (rumored)

The Realme GT Neo 5 SE will be a toned-down version of the Realme GT Neo 5. Hence, it will not have a C-shaped RGB lighting unit, which is available on the back panel of the GT Neo 5. According to previous reports, the GT Neo 5 SE will feature a 6.74-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2722 x 1240 pixels and a refresh rate of 144Hz. It will draw power from the upcoming Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 1 chipset and could come with a 5,500mAh battery that supports 100W charging.

On the front, the GT Neo 5 SE will have a 16-megapixel front-facing camera and feature a 64-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro camera triple camera unit on the back. The device will likely run on ColorOS 13-based Android 13 OS

It is expected that the GT Neo 5 SE will be released in April in China. There is a possibility that it could be priced at around 2,000 Yuan (~$286).

Last month, a Poco device with model number 23049PCD8G was spotted with the “POCO F5” moniker in the IMEI database. The Indian variant of the device, with model number 23049PCD8I, was approved by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in February. The global edition of the Poco F5 (23049PCD8G) has now been approved by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) authority. These certifications indicate that the Poco F5 will be launching soon in the Indian and global markets.

The FCC certification has revealed that the Poco F5 may arrive in three variants: 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage, and 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage.

The device will come preloaded with the Android 13 OS with MIUI 14 on top. Some of the connectivity features that have been revealed through the certification include dual SIM, 5G bands (n1 / n5 / n7 / n38 / n41 / n77 / n78), NFC, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and an IR blaster.

Poco F5 FCC listing

The Chinese variant of the device has the model number 23049RAD8C. The device has already been certified by Chinese certification platforms such as MIIT and 3C.

Speculations are rife that the 23049RAD8C device will be called the Redmi Note 12 Turbo (or Note 12T) when it arrives in the home market. Reports have revealed that the Redmi Note 12T Turbo will arrive with specs like a 6.67-inch AMOLED FHD+ 120Hz display with an under-display fingerprint scanner, the forthcoming Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen1 chipset, up to 12 GB of RAM, up to 512 GB of storage, MIUI 14-based Android 13, and a 5,000mAh battery with 67W charging support. It may feature a 50-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel triple camera unit. The Poco F5 is likely to pack the same specs.

The Redmi Note 12 Turbo may launch in March, whereas the Poco F5 may debut in April.

A new Poco phone that will end up as an F-series flagship phone has been spotted in the IMEI database by Xiaomiui. Last month, a device with model number 23013PC75G was spotted with the POCO F5 Pro moniker in the IMEI database. It was later seen at other certification sites such as the FCC and IMDA. The new device that has appeared in the IMEI database has the model number 23049PCD8G and the moniker “POCO F5”. The same device was spotted at IMDA certification last week.

According to the publication, the “marble” codename is associated with the 23049PCD8G device. There is a Chinese variant of the device with model number 23049RAD8C. This device is expected to launch with the Redmi Note 12 Turbo (or Note 12T) moniker in China. Reports have claimed that the device may get rebranded as the POCO X5 GT in the global market. However, it now appears that it will be rebadged as the POCO F5 and not the X5 GT globally.

Redmi Note 12 Turbo / POCO F5 specifications (rumored)

According to reports, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo will be equipped with a 6.67-inch Full HD+ OLED display that offers a Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen will also offer an eye protection dimming feature as well as a fingerprint scanner.

The next-generation Snapdragon 7-series chip, which is likely to be called the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 1, will power the Redmi Note 12T Turbo. It may ship with up to 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage.

The device could be backed by a 5,500mAh battery that supports 67W fast charging. Its other rumored features include an IR blaster and a linear motor. Since the Note 12 Turbo is likely to be rebranded as the POCO F5 globally, both phones are likely to come with identical specs.
