That rumour is gathering traction as an LG model listed as Q92 has appeared on Google Play Console (via Gadgets Rewind). As usual, the Google Play Console listing includes a front render of the device. The render reveals the presence of a centrally placed single punch-hole which will house the selfie camera.

As per the listed details, the LG Q92 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 chipset. The mobile platform is a fast mid-range ARM-based SoC. It is one of the first chipsets that integrate a 5G modem- the Snapdragon X5. The modem brings support for speeds of up to 3.7 / 1.6 Mbps (down- and upload) and mmWave and Sub-6. The processor also features the Adreno 620 GPU. The SoC will be paired with 6GB of RAM but we can’t say if that will be the base model.

The smartphone’s display will have an FHD+ resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels but the screen size is still unknown. Further, the Q92 will boot Android 10 OS out of the box.

LG is yet to officially release any details of the upcoming model. However, the Q92 5G is believed to be a cheaper alternative to the well-received LG Velvet 5G. If that be the case, we may likely see the smartphone launched soon.

We already know what the phone looks like thanks to a poster that leaked a few days ago. Now, the same source has shared the specs of the phone, and they reveal the Axon 11 is actually not a flagship phone but an upper mid-range 5G phone.

Some of the phone’s key specifications were posted on Weibo today by Digital Chat Station and he stated the Axon 11 is a mid-range device. We agree the naming is a bit confusing since the Axon 11 should naturally be a successor to the Axon 10. Actually, there wasn’t an Axon 10 but an Axon 10 Pro. So we expect there will be an Axon 11 Pro in the future that will be a flagship. This may arrive later this year and with the rumored Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset inside.

The Axon 11 will have a 6.6-inch 2340 x 1080 display with a 60Hz refresh rate. It should be an AMOLED panel, so expect an in-display fingerprint scanner. We already know it has a waterdrop notch at the top for the selfie camera.

On the back are four cameras in a squircle camera housing. Digital Chat Station says the primary camera is a 64MP Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1. This is the same sensor inside the Galaxy A71, Realme X50 Pro, and Black Shark 3 Pro. The details of the other cameras were not revealed.

Coming to the processor, the leaker revealed the Axon 11 is powered by Qualcomm’s SM7250 processor which can either be the Snapdragon 765G or Snapdragon 765. Both chipsets actually go by SM7250 but have different suffixes.

The Axon 11 will also have support for 18W fast charging but there is no mention of the battery capacity. The phone should run Android 10 out of the box with the company’s MiFavor skin on top.

ZTE will announce the Axon 11 on Monday, 23rd of March in China. We expect it to be priced competitively and also hope it will get a global release.

While the tech industry was expecting Qualcomm to announce a chipset with integrated 5G modem, the company’s new Snapdragon 865 that is designed exclusively for 5G flagship phones requires manufacturer to also purchase Snapdragon X55 which is its second-generation 5G modem that supports both mmWave and Sub-6 GHz 5G networks. The SD865 and X55 will come as a packaged deal. Smartphone OEMs won’t be able to make 4G phones powered by Snapdragon 865 along with a 4G modem. Also, the SD865 will support up to 200-megapixel camera and come with support for up to 8K 30fps video recording.

The Snapdragon 765 / 765G 5G is integrated with a 5G modem. The two chipsets feature slower Snapdragon X52 5G modem that will offer download speeds of up to 3.7Gbits/s. The X52 5G modem only works on sub-6 5G networks. The SD765 / 765G will also offer advanced AI processing and select Snapdragon Elite Gaming experiences.

Xiaomi and OPPO have confirmed to launch Snapdragon 865 powered phones in the first quarter of 2020. Xiaomi confirmed that Xiaomi Mi 10 will be among the first phones to feature SD865. Motorola also confirmed that it will return to launching flagship phones next year. The unnamed flagship phone from the company will be fueled by the Snapdragon 865.

The Redmi K30 and OPPO Reno 3 will be the first phones to be fueled by Snapdragon 765 5G chipset. HMD Global, LG, Motorola, OPPO, Realme, Redmi, and Vivo are some of the companies that have confirmed to launch Snapdragon 765 powered 5G phones in 2020.

Qualcomm did not reveal the full technical details of the Snapdragon 865, Snapdragon 765 and Snapdragon 765 5G chipsets.
