<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/motorola">Motorola </a>has recently launched the Moto G75 5G, marking a significant milestone as the world&#8217;s first smartphone powered by the new Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset. This new chip by Qualcomm aims to bring enhanced performance and efficiency to the mid-range segment, offering users an elevated experience without the premium price tag. But how does the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 fare against its competition, particularly when compared to related models like the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2? &nbsp;Continue reading ahead to see what to expect from the new Snapdragon 6-series chip.</p>

<h2><strong>Snapdragon 6 Gen 3: A Closer Look</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image is-style-default"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="639" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Snapdragon-6-Gen-3-1024x639.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-653422" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Snapdragon-6-Gen-3-1024x639.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Snapdragon-6-Gen-3-300x187.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Snapdragon-6-Gen-3-768x479.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Snapdragon-6-Gen-3-696x434.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Snapdragon-6-Gen-3-1068x667.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Snapdragon-6-Gen-3-673x420.jpg 673w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Snapdragon-6-Gen-3.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Snapdragon 6 Gen 3</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-6-gen-3">Snapdragon 6 Gen 3</a>, built on a 4nm process, is an upgrade over the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-6-gen-1">Snapdragon 6 Gen 1.</a> Key enhancements include a faster CPU with 4&#215;2.4 GHz Cortex-A78 cores compared to 4&#215;2.2 GHz in Gen 1, while maintaining the 4&#215;1.8 GHz Cortex-A55 cores. Both feature the Adreno 710 GPU and support up to 3200 MHz LPDDR5 RAM. Like its predecessor, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 retains the 200-megapixel camera capability and 4K@30 fps video. However, it offers better connectivity options like Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.</p>

<h3><strong>Comparison with Snapdragon 7s Gen 2</strong></h3>

<p>When comparing the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-7s-gen-2">Snapdragon 7s Gen 2</a>, both share the same CPU configuration and GPU (Adreno 710). However, the 7s Gen 2 supports Full HD+ displays at a higher 144 Hz refresh rate, while the 6 Gen 3 supports up to 120 Hz. Both SoCs maintain a 12-bit ISP, support for 200-megapixel cameras, and 4K video recording at 30 fps. The 6 Gen 3, built on a 4nm process, mirrors the efficiency and performance of the 7s Gen 2, making it a robust contender in the mid-range chipset market.</p>

<h2><strong>Expected Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 performance</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image is-style-default"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="639" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Snapdragon-6-Gen-3-1024x639.jpg?x44794" alt="Snapdragon 6 Gen 3" class="wp-image-653422" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Snapdragon-6-Gen-3-1024x639.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Snapdragon-6-Gen-3-300x187.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Snapdragon-6-Gen-3-768x479.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Snapdragon-6-Gen-3-696x434.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Snapdragon-6-Gen-3-1068x667.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Snapdragon-6-Gen-3-673x420.jpg 673w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Snapdragon-6-Gen-3.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Snapdragon 6 Gen 3</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Since the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 is a brand-new chip, its benchmark scores haven’t surfaced yet.&nbsp; Based on benchmark scores of the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 is expected to perform impressively.</p>

<p>After <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/09/23/mediatek-rebranded-dimensity-processor-lineup-2023/">MediaTek decided to rebrand its processor lineup in 2023</a>, it seems that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/qualcomm/">Qualcomm</a> is hopping onto the rebranding bandwagon as well, because the recently-announced <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/09/15/snapdragon-7s-gen-2-launched/">Snapdragon 7s Gen 2</a> processor seems to be a secret rebrand of last year’s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/09/07/qualcomm-unveils-snapdragon-6-gen-1-snapdragon-4-gen-1-5g-chipsets/">Snapdragon 6 Gen 1</a>, with the exact same GPU and CPU core structure, manufactured on the same 4nm Samsung process.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/snapdragon-7s-gen-2-6-gen-1-thumbnail.png?x44794" alt="snapdragon 7s gen 2, 6 gen 1 thumbnail" class="wp-image-569359" width="942" height="585" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/snapdragon-7s-gen-2-6-gen-1-thumbnail.png 942w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/snapdragon-7s-gen-2-6-gen-1-thumbnail-300x186.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/snapdragon-7s-gen-2-6-gen-1-thumbnail-768x477.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/snapdragon-7s-gen-2-6-gen-1-thumbnail-696x432.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/snapdragon-7s-gen-2-6-gen-1-thumbnail-676x420.png 676w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/snapdragon-7s-gen-2-6-gen-1-thumbnail-356x220.png 356w" sizes="(max-width: 942px) 100vw, 942px" /><figcaption>Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 vs 6 Gen 1 Thumbnail. (Source: Leo Wong De Quan/Gizmochina)</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>To illustrate the point, the table below shows a side-by-side of the general specifications between the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 vs. the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 Mobile Processor.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-table is-style-regular has-small-font-size"><table><tbody><tr><td></td><td><strong>Snapdragon 7s Gen 2</strong></td><td><strong>Snapdragon 6 Gen 1</strong></td></tr><tr><td>Launch Date</td><td>September 2023</td><td>September 2022</td></tr><tr><td>Performance CPU Cores</td><td>4x ARM Cortex A78 @ 2.4GHz</td><td>4x ARM Cortex A78 @ 2.2GHz</td></tr><tr><td>Efficiency CPU Cores</td><td>4x ARM Cortex A55 @ 1.95GHz</td><td>4x ARM Cortex A55 @ 1.8GHz</td></tr><tr><td>GPU</td><td>Adreno 710</td><td>Adreno 710</td></tr><tr><td>Modem</td><td>Snapdragon X62 5G Modem</td><td>Snapdragon X62 5G Modem</td></tr><tr><td>Connectivity</td><td>FastConnect 6700 Mobile Connectivity System</td><td>FastConnect 6700 Mobile Connectivity System</td></tr><tr><td>Memory Support</td><td>Max. (Leo Wong De Quan/Gizmochina)</em></figcaption></figure>

<p> </p>

<p>Looking further into specs, we notice that both processors have an identical Adreno 710 GPU, an identical Qualcomm X62 5G/LTE modem, and the same connectivity standards support powered by the same Qualcomm FastConnect 6700 system. In addition, both are manufactured on Samsung’s 4nm semiconductor node process. Even the Antutu scores between the devices are eerily similar as well.</p>

<p>Yet one is being marketed as a Snapdragon 7 series chipset whereas the other is being marketed as a Snapdragon 6 series chipset by Qualcomm. In fact, the 2023 Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, should instead be called the Snapdragon 6+ Gen 1, because the new chipset only overclocks the CPU cores on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/09/07/qualcomm-unveils-snapdragon-6-gen-1-snapdragon-4-gen-1-5g-chipsets/">Snapdragon 6 Gen 1</a>, whilst everything from the GPU to even the connectivity standards (Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2) are the same as the 2022 Snapdragon 6 Gen 1.</p>

<p>When compared to the highly regarded <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/09/poco-f5-with-snapdragon-7-gen-2-f5-pro-with-snapdragon-8-gen-1-debut-in-india-and-other-global-markets/#:~:text=Both%20phones%20have%20optical%20and,vapor%20chamber%20for%20heat%20dissipation.">Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2</a> (with an Antutu score of 1,109,000) this year, it can be easily seen that the newly announced <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/09/15/snapdragon-7s-gen-2-launched/">Snapdragon 7s Gen 2</a> (with an Antutu score of around 600,000) seems to be a misleading chipset by Qualcomm to trick users into thinking the chipset has the same tier of performance as its other chipsets in the Snapdragon 7 series lineup like the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 and 7+ Gen 2. When in reality, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 performs about the same as a Snapdragon 6 series launched in yesteryear.</p>

<p>Do you think that Qualcomm’s naming of the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor is fair to the consumers? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!</p>

<p><a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/qualcomm">Qualcomm</a> has announced a new mid-range processor, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2. Despite its name, the chipset does not look like an upgrade over the the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. It might in fact be a less powerfull version. The new processor features a Kryo CPU with four high-performance cores clocked at 2.4 GHz and four power-efficient cores clocked at 1.95 GHz. It is set to debut in the <a href="https://www.giztop.com/redmi-note-13-pro.html">Redmi Note 13 Pro</a> smartphone on <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/09/14/redmi-note-13-5g-note-13-pro-5g-note-13-pro-5g-set-to-launch-on-september-21/">September 21st</a>.</p>

<p>Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 is a 4nm processor, featuring Kryo CPU with four high-performance 2.4 GHz cores and four power-efficient 1.95 GHz cores. It brings an unspecified Adreno GPU, which is apparently capable of handling FHD+ visuals at a 144Hz refresh rate.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="945" height="582" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Snapdragon-7s-gen-2.png?x44794" alt="Snapdragon 7s gen 2" class="wp-image-567004" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Snapdragon-7s-gen-2.png 945w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Snapdragon-7s-gen-2-300x185.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Snapdragon-7s-gen-2-768x473.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Snapdragon-7s-gen-2-696x429.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Snapdragon-7s-gen-2-682x420.png 682w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Snapdragon-7s-gen-2-356x220.png 356w" sizes="(max-width: 945px) 100vw, 945px" /></figure></div>

<p>The chipset supports up to 12GB of lightning-fast 3200MHz LPDDR5 memory and the snappy UFS 4.0 flash memory. With the Snapdragon X62 5G modem, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 offers a peak rate of 2.9Gbps and support for 5G millimeter wave technology. It brings the FastConnect 6700 system, which offers Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. Navigation technology in the processor includes support for multiple positioning systems, including QZSS, Galileo, BeiDou, NavIC, GLONASS, and GPS, with L1/L5 dual-band positioning.</p>

<p>In terms of camera features, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 brings Qualcomm Spectra 12-bit ISP, which enables triple-camera simultaneous shooting and supports impressive features like 200-megapixel photography and 4K video recording at 30 frames per second. There’s also support for AI noise reduction. Elsewhere, the chipset comes with Snapdragon Smooth Listening technology offering clear audio for your calls and media consumption.</p>

<p>Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 might offer many mid-range phones launching later this year. The benchmarking scores of the chip are not available yet so we can’t comment on its performance.</p>
