Today, the smartphone has once again appeared on the benchmarking site with new benchmarking scores.

The fresh listing of Xperia ZG Compact on Geekbench also shows that it is fueled by Snapdragon 810 chipset. Since the device has Compact” in its moniker, it is speculated to house a screen of around 4.6 inches.

However, the existence of the Xperia ZG Compact phone seems to be very doubtful as no other smartphone OEM has used the SD 810 this year not only because it is an obsolete chipset, but also various smartphones powered by it have suffered from overheating issues.

The Sony Xperia Z5 Compact that was launched in 2015 was driven by Snapdragon 810 chipset. The Geekbench scores of the Xperia ZG Compact is lower than that of Xperia Z5 Compact. As far as other specs of Xperia ZG Compact is concerned, its Geekbench listing reveals that it features only 2 GB of RAM and is running on Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

Sony is known for launching “Compact” branded phones with flagship specifications. Hence, it seems to be a fake listing as the Japanese tech giant is unlikely to release a phone with an older chipset.

The Bolt, which was unveiled in the US, is exclusive to US carrier Sprint and is touted as the fastest smartphone on Sprint’s network. To give the Bolt’s fast download an iconic outlook, the smartphone has the endorsement of Usain Bolt, the world’s fastest man.

The HTC Bolt looks a lot like last years HTC 10, adopting the same design with a little modifications here and there. The Bolt features a full-metal unibody which said to be water resistant, HTC’s first device to have such capability. The smartphone also does not have the 3.5mm audio jack, instead packing a USB Type-C headphone that can adapt their sound to your specific hearing.

The HTC Bolt features a slightly larger 5.5-inc quad HD display, making it a little bigger than the HTC 10. The device is powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC as found on the HTC 10 as well as packs 3GB of RAM on-board, instead of a higher and more modern Snapdragon 820 chipset and 4GB RAM. The device also features a 3,200mAh battery with support for Qualcomm’s Quck Charge 2.0 fast charging.

On the camera end, the HTC Bolt sports a 16MP (non-Ultra Pixel) rear camera with LED flash and Optical image stabilization, as well as an 8MP front-facing camera. There is also a front fingerprint sensor as well as capacitive buttons. The HTC Bolt has an IP57 water resistance capability which lets the device survive submersion in 1m depth of water fro up to 30 minutes. Also, the Bolt is already certified for Sprint’s 3×20 carrier aggregation. In addition, the Bolt runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box, making it the first HTC smartphone to run Google’s latest Android platform.

Pricing

As for the price, the Bolt doesn’t come cheap as the device is available starting today for $600 (around 4,088 Yuan). An outrageously expensive amount for such specs, I’d say. What do you think?

Snapdragon 810 has often been criticized for its overheating issue. Many known top-end flagships like Xperia Z3+, HTC One M9 that have used this Qualcomm chipset have suffered from overheating, and performance issues. Given that the OnePlus 2 comes with the same chipset (although a newer v2.1 version), many users are concerned that the phone may overheat as the above mentioned devices.

However, things may be slightly different in case of OnePlus. The company has used Flex cooling mode, with a patented H-Cube multi-core scheduling tech. Apart from the software tweaks, the OnePlus 2 comes with layers of graphite sheet, copper alloy shield as well as thermal gel to manage the heat generated.

Its unfortunate that early adopters of Snapdragon 810 realized it too late that the chip has some overheating problems. But with the issue now open to the public, it looks like manufacturers like OnePlus have taken enough measures to keep the heating under control.

According to Sina Tech, the OnePlus 2 managed to keep the temperature under control. When the flagship was running the AnTuTu benchmark test, in which it managed to score above 56000 points, the maximum temperature was only around 37 degrees Celsius. This is pretty normal for any flagship, especially when its using a lot of its CPU and GPU cores.

Even the OnePlus One heats up when playing games or using graphic intensive apps. And so do most other flagships.

So, can we say that OnePlus managed to somewhat solve the overheating issue associated with Snapdragon 810? Probably! But we can’t be 100% sure with a single test.

Hence, we’ll have to wait for some real life feedback from consumers as well as some thorough testing in our labs to make a final conclusion.

If the OnePlus 2 doesn’t overheat, will you consider buying the flagship killer?

The scores posted on the benchmarking app was less than impressive, which led us to believe that OnePlus may have throttled the Snapdragon 810 inside the new flagship.

However, earlier today, we came across another AnTuTu benchmark of the same OnePlus 2 A2001 model. This time it managed to score over 63,700 points! Yes, finally, we can see some powerful scores posted by the octa-core Snapdragon 810 chipset, which is even above the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro top version.

But what does this mean? One possibility is that the 51K score was posted by a prototype model, which was throttled to a great extent. Even though 51K on AnTuTu is not a bad score, Snapdragon 801 was powerful enough to post the same score. So, a new generation chip like Snapdragon 810 is expected to at least beat this score by a nominal margin.

What we can take from this score is the performance capacity of the new Snapdragon 810 chipset. However, this does bring back the issue about overheating. Given that OnePlus has promised that it won’t happen, we will have to wait and see whether the chip inside OnePlus 2 is throttled to a great extent or not.

Stay tuned for more details.

Last week, the company slashed the prices of OnePlus One, most likely to make way for its new model. Now, the company has officially revealed the processor inside the new flagship, the Snapdragon 810.

While this doesn’t come as a surprise, it does bring forward a lot of questions, especially whether OnePlus managed to fix the heating issue associated with the chipset. To answer all your doubts, the company has written a detailed blog post which reveals that its engineers worked closely with Qualcomm to develop a cooler version of the chipset without compromising performance.

The OnePlus Two will use Snapdragon 810 v2.1 which is the same version that’s inside the Xiaomi Mi Note flagship. The post also adds that the company did consider other chipset options, but every time, it came back to Snapdragon 810 because of its advanced features.

“Features that the 810 supports include streaming 4K Ultra HD video, amazingly crisp and fast photos with one quick snap, immersive 3D gaming brought to you by the first-in-class Adreno 430 GPU, high-quality video streaming that uses less bandwidth, and exceptional battery life” were some of the features of 810 detailed in the post.

The company has also heavily optimized its OxygenOS to run smoothly on the OnePlus Two with Snapdragon 810. The OS was pretty fluid on the OnePlus One, so we expect the experience to be the same even on the new device. The company said that they have created a proprietary technology, which will handle a variety of tasks for the chipset inside the ‘two’.

OnePlus has assured that the phone won’t get warmer with 810 inside, further explaining that the phone comes with graphite and thermal gel for effective heat dissipation.

According to recent rumors, OnePlus Two is expected to debut sometime in July this year, so we don’t have to wait too long to more official details about the flagship.

The document quoted OPPO Find 9 among other smartphones saying it already supported Cat. 9 LTE networks. The same document revealed more details about the upcoming chipsets which will support the more advanced Cat. 10 LTE networks.

Now, in this market, Snapdragon 810 is the only known chipset to support Cat. 9 LTE networks, which means that the new OPPO device could come with this chip under the hood. Also, given the fact that the phone is mentioned here, it looks like the company is already past the testing phase on the carrier. So, we should see the device pretty soon.

Unfortunately, OPPO has not revealed any details about its upcoming flagship. So, for official details, we may have to wait for a few weeks more.

As a result, in the coming months, expect around two to three new phone launches. One should be the Redmi Note successor, which we have already seen in a leak yesterday. And the other two could be the rumored Xiaomi Mi5 and the Mi5 Plus.

Its already time to see the successor to the company current, Xiaomi Mi4 flagship, but it looks like Snapdragon 810 issues have forced the company to delay the release. Logically, both the phones should have featured Snapdragon 810 which is the flagship SoC for the year, but given the severe heating issues associated with the chip, it seems unlikely that it will end up in both of them.

However, consumers are eagerly waiting for the next Mi device and Xiaomi may eventually succumb to market pressure. So, a Snapdragon 810 powered Mi5 is even possible. Snapdragon 820 will still take a few months to enter mass production, and it doesn’t make sense for this Chinese giant to wait until that happens. So, instead of both featuring Snapdragon 820, only the Mi5 Plus, which could be announced at the end of the year, may feature this chipset. It may even be the first smartphone to come with this latest Qualcomm SoC.

If this is the case, then you can expect the specs to be something like this.

Xiaomi Mi5: 5.2-inch 2K display with Snapdragon 810, 4GB RAM, and 16MP camera. Priced at around 1999 Yuan.

Xiaomi Mi5 Plus: 6-inch 2K display with Snapdragon 820 and 4GB RAM. Priced at around 2499 Yuan.

So, unlike earlier rumors it looks like we may not see Snapdragon 820 on both the handsets. The Mi5 will probably feature current generation Snapdragon chipset (810 or 808?). Given that the launch should be soon, lets wait and watch, whether Xiaomi takes the risk of putting Snapdragon 810 inside its latest flagship Mi5.

It used to heat around 50ºC which is a little more than it should. The reason of this was not disclosed by Qualcomm. Now Qualcomm are doing several tests for the heating problem with Snapdragon 801, 810 and the new 815. It shows that it would heat much lesser. The results show that the Snapdragon 815 is cooler than Snapdragon 801 and 810 too which means its powerful and at the same time it is optimized to be cooler then its predecessors.

The test was done with Asphalt 8 airborne which is a graphic intensive game and it clearly shows that Snapdragon 815 is much cooler.

In the Results as we can see Snapdragon 815 reached a Max Temperature of 38 degrees which is quite low in respect to 42 degrees of Snapdragon 801 and 44 degrees of Snapdragon 810. Hence we can conclude that the new Architecture choice of Qualcomm is right and the devices based on Snapdragon 815 will be much cooler then the devices we are having now in the market with the Snapdragon 810 and 801.

Today’s the day! Xiaomi held a launch for its new releases, one of which is the Xiaomi Mi Note cell phone. This phone, Xiaomi has boasted, is said to be bigger than Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus. Today, we see if that is the case with Xiaomi Mi Note vs iPhone 6 plus. At the launch, Xiaomi CEO, Lei Jun, introduced the Xiaomi Note cell phone and compared it with Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus. Let us take a look, shall we?

Here are some discrepancies between the Xiaomi Mi Note and the iPhone 6 Plus that the company noticed. This phone is 0.15mm thinner than the iPhone 6 Plus. It is 11g lighter than the iPhone 6 Plus. It is also 3mm shorter in length. Its dimensions are 155.1mm x 77.6m x 6.95mm. It also only weighs 161g and sports a 5.7-inch display screen.

The reason why the MiNote is shorter than the iPhone 6 Plus is that it does not fingerprint scanner at the bottom. It also has a lower gamut count because it has a low brightness index.

Furthermore, the Mi Note is also the first Xiaomi phone to have a OIS camera. It does not have a protruding camera unlike the iPhone 6 Plus.
The Xiaomi Mi Note, seems like an interesting phone. This phone is said to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 processor which they will showcase on January 23. This processor is said to be Qualcomm’s most powerful cell phone processor to date with eight cores and its use of the Adreno 430 GPU.

With the introduction of the Xiaomi Mi Note, maybe we can now turn our attention to the follow-up to the Xiaomi Mi4, the Xiaomi Mi5, which is set to come out this year as well. In fact, some photo samples taken by the phone have already been posted. We cannot wait to see it.

Xiaomi has officially unveiled the Xiaomi Note flagship. This will be first device in the new lineup and will pack in top end features which will definitely blow your minds away.

We have been hearing about this super sized smartphone for quite some time now, however, it was only a few days back that we realized that it could be a new lineup itself. And we were quite right in assuming so as the company has today confirmed it. Just yesterday, we heard a rumor that the device was going to be one of the two Snapdragon 810 powered smartphones that will be announced in the market soon. And the rumor was right indeed! There will be two variants of the new Mi Note. One which will be powered by the Snapdragon 801 processor and the other with the latest and the ever powerful SNAPDRAGON 810! Yes, there is a high end version of the Mi Note called the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro which will make many of the fan’s dreams come true.

Anyways, lets not waste any more time and move on to the specs of the device.First lets talk about this new HIGH END XIAOMI MI NOTE version. The phone will come with a 3D curved glass display. Yes, you heard it right! It features a 3D curved glass screen which will sport an impressive resolution of 2K on its 5.7-inch display. There will be Snapdragon 810 processor onboard with 4GB LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB eMMC5.0 ROM. There will be a Sony rear 13MP camera with OIS and a 4MP ultrapixel front shooter, which will also end up in the regular Mi Note version. The Mi Note Pro will run on the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. The phone will support 4G LTE Category 9 networks and will be available for sale starting January 27 for a hefty 3299 Yuan ($532). This makes the high end Xiaomi Mi Note– the world’s second Snapdragon 810 powered smartphone (considered LG G Flex2 was already announced)! Rest of the features are the same as the regular version of the Mi Note, so lets move on to that now.

The regular version of the Xiaomi Mi Note will also feature a large 5.7-inch but with 2.5D curved display and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The display will be a Negative LCD panel with the new Pixel level dynamic adjustment (NTSC color gamut up to 95 percent!). Xiaomi just revealed that it will feature a lower 1920 x 1080p resolution display which translates into pixel density of 386ppi. The old Snapdragon 801 processor will power the device along with 3GB RAM onboard. There will be 16/64 GB internal storage options. At the back, there is a 13MP rear camera with dual tone dual LED flash and OIS (Optical Image Stabilization tech). The front camera will be of 4MP 2um Ultrapixel which is the same rear camera module from the HTC One M7.

Both the variants have the same body and design, so we can talk about them together. The phone won’t be as thin as expected. Xiaomi reveals that the Mi Note will feature a 6.95mm thin body, which is still slim for a device of this size. The overall measurements come to 55.1x 77.6 x 6.95mm. In comparison, the iPhone 6 Plus measures, 158.1 x 77.8 x 7.1 mm. As you can see, even the iPhone 6 Plus which is considered as a very thin phablet has a 7.1mm thin body. Also, the Xiaomi Note will weigh just 161 grams which is almost 12 grams lighter than the Apple phablet! Finally, a 3000 mAh battery will power all these features with fast charging 2.0. This is the minimum battery capacity that a 5.7-inch device requires. Since the large screen display will require a lot of charge to run for an entire day, this 3000 mAh battery may just be enough. Like Xiaomi teased earlier, the phone will come with ESS ES9018K2M DAC high performance two channel 32-bit mobile Hi-Fi Audio chip which is a great news for music lovers around the globe. This is the same chip used in many audiophile grade music players, blu-ray players, recording players and digital audio workstations. What’s more, you can get a the 499 Yuan ($80) headphones to take advantage of the full audio performance of the device. Finally, it will support 4G LTE dual SIM card dual standby.

Now, coming to the most important part of the announcement, the pricing of the Mi Note. Xiaomi has set an unbelievable price tag for this regular variant. The company has priced the device at 2299 Yuan which comes to around $371 which is an amazing price for a device with such specifications. This is the around the same price as Meizu’s MX4, so the competition is definitely getting tougher. The given price is for the 16GB version and for the larger 64GB storage variant, you’ll have to shell out a few more Yuan. The 64 GB Xiaomi Mi Note will be available for sale for 2799 Yuan which comes to around $451! Chinese Xiaomi Note users also can get accidental insurance for an additional 199 Yuan i..e $32.

Here are the key specs:-

3D curved Gorilla Glass 3 with metal frame

5.7-inch Sharp/JDI Full HD display (95% NTSC, 1400:1 contrast ratio)

And now we have some exciting news to reveal about tomorrow’s launch.

There have been many different versions of the upcoming flagship leaked in the past few days. Some say it will be the Mi4s, others say its the Mi5 while there’s even a section of population that say its a new lineup called Mi Note.

It is said that Qualcomm will hold an event on January 23rd where it will show off the new Snapdragon 810 processor. The leak says that even Xiaomi will be present at the event. The same leakster earlier said that the Xiaomi will announce two new devices tomorrow, one running on a Snapdragon 810 processor and the other running on the old Snapdragon 801 processor. This is the first time we are hearing about a Snapdragon 810 powered Xiaomi flagship and if this does turn out to be true, then fans will definitely have something to be excited about tomorrow.

Xiaomi will be the perfect partner to debut this powerful processor in China. So, it won’t be surprising to see a Xiaomi flagship run this latest processor. The same source even leaked out an invite for the Qualcomm’s event for Jan 23. We have added it below.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 is the most powerful mobile processor from the chipset maker till date. It is built upon a 20nm process and features the 64-bit architecture, big.LITTLE eight-core, and Adreno 430 GPU.

Xiaomi confirmed earlier today that there probably won’t be a Mi5 at the event, which leaves us with a new Mi Note lineup. This could be the one sporting Snapdragon 810! Xiaomi will also announce another device at the event, probably the Redmi Note 2 with Snapdragon 801.

Overall, it seems like tomorrow will be a great day for Xiaomi as well as fans. Stay tuned to our website for more such exclusive updates.

Qualcomm is one of the chip manufacturer is now also has several mobile processor products, the new chipset is Snapdragon 805 APQ8084.

The Snapdragon 805 is the latest Qualcomm’s mobile processor that build using a 32-bit architecture, and Qualcom is preparing 64-bit architecture next year through their upcoming products, the Snapdragon 810 MSM8994, and Snapdragon 808 MSM8992 chipset.
First, long-winded basis : the difference between the two are on the MSM and APQ series is on the baseband. Logically, the former is more suitable for mobile phones, but the latter will fire up unexpectedly at some time in the phone, the chipset is similar with Snapdragon 600 APQ8064.

The Snapdragon 805 APQ8084 not has integrated with baseband of the manufacturing process, this processor is built based on 28nm process, and the latest baseband is 9×35 which has to spend a 20nm.

Snapdragon 805 will also has the Krait CPU architecture farewell. Whilr the Qualcomm ARMv7 architecture has independent design, this processor was born in 2012, while the first version is Krait 200 chipset, and those chipset is for Snapdragon S4 MSM8960. It is in starting point, while the Android phones started another round of hardware arms race.

Snapdragon 805 in the specification is naturally quite sturdy. CPU architecture evolved into the Krait 450, running up to 2.65GHz (also writing 2.7GHz) clock speed, and now Snapdragon 800/801 Krait 400 could only running to 2.45GHz. GPU graphics core also enhanced from Adreno 400 578MHz to Adreno 420 600MHz.

Adreno 420 GPU will be full support for OpenGL ES 3.1, OpenCL 1.2, DirectX Feature Level 11.2, also supports compressed texture formats ASTC ARM 2011 was proposed , in addition to better performance of texture.

It also improves the power management algorithm. Qualcomm claims that running GFXBench T-Rex HD/1080p high load graphics test when, Adreno 420 power comparable Snapdragon 800 Adreno 330 reduced by 20% of power.

Snapdragon 805 is equipped with two 64-bit LPDDR3-800 memory controller module (external interface is a 4 x 32-bit), before now they only has 2 x 32-bit. With 1600MHz frequency, the bandwith is reach up to 25.6GB/s, almost doubled.

The Krait 420 is take too much bandwidth, but the user no longer have to worry since the delay will be greatly reduced.

In order to accommodate such a high-bandwidth , and guarantee still applies to phones and tablets, Snapdragon 805 embedded with a special molded package (Moulded Embedded Package / MEP), can be 128-bit memory interface directly connected to the integrated package of DRAM memory chip.
Qualcomm did not disclose specific details of this packaging technology , especially not given diagram.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 is the first chipset to support H.265/HEVC format hardware decoding processor, but does not support encoding, have to wait until Snapdragon 810 is released. In addition, the Snapdragon 808 is also has only decode without coding.

Conclusion :

From the test results, compared to Snapdragpn 805 APQ8084 Snapdragon 801 MSM8974AC CPU performance can be improved by approximately 6%, mainly thanks to increased CPU frequency 200MHz, but do not forget, it is still using the 28nm process, and then optimize the high frequency is also susceptible to bottlenecks and significantly reduced frequency heat, so the final performance also depends on the thermal design that has on the device.

Comparing between Adreno 420 to the current Adreno 330 in architecture, the technology has significant progress, in particular to improve the frequency of 100MHz, the final performance is very good, especially in high- load high-resolution , high-definition process. If you exclude 3DMark, Adreno 420 performance increase of 20-50%.

Adreno 420 will be support for 2K screen resolution, and the 2K screen will becoming the standard for upcoming smartphone and tablet device.

So, when the Snapdragon 805 chipset will available for the user? Qualcomm said that some partners are preparing to launch new products, but some chose to stay in Snapdragon 801, the upcoming 64-bit Snapdragon 810/ 808 maybe released on next year.

Finally, compare the overall specifications summary of Snapdragon 8xx series: that using 20nm process, the 64-bit eight-core processor, support for Adobe 4PU graphics core, LPDDR4 memory, integrated baseband Snapdragon 810 is worth to wait?, So what do you think?
