One of the versions of the device will be powered by the powerful Snapdragon 820 chipset.</p>
<p>A few week back, we saw the first AnTuTu performance of the custom Kryo powered chip, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/12/11/snapdragon-820-powered-prototype-scores-131k-antutu-gpu-impressive/">which was pretty impressive as it crossed the 131K mark</a>. But that was just a development prototype, hence, we didn&#8217;t know whether the chip would be this powerful in commercial smartphones.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Galaxy-S7-Snapdragon-820-antutu.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-71892" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Galaxy-S7-Snapdragon-820-antutu.jpg?x44794" alt="Galaxy S7 Snapdragon 820 antutu" width="673" height="455" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Galaxy-S7-Snapdragon-820-antutu.jpg 673w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Galaxy-S7-Snapdragon-820-antutu-300x203.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Galaxy-S7-Snapdragon-820-antutu-600x406.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Galaxy-S7-Snapdragon-820-antutu-621x420.jpg 621w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Galaxy-S7-Snapdragon-820-antutu-640x433.jpg 640w" sizes="(max-width: 673px) 100vw, 673px" /></a></p>
<p>Now, we can be almost sure of this, as the upcoming Galaxy S7 model with the powerful quad-core Snapdragon 820 chipset has just been spotted on AnTuTu. Even now, the chip managed to blow away the competition by scoring an impressive 125,288 points. This makes it the best smartphone chip in the market, even above Apple&#8217;s A9 chipset which held the top position till now with 123,567 points.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/antutu-chip-benchmark-2016.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-71891" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/antutu-chip-benchmark-2016.png?x44794" alt="antutu chip benchmark 2016" width="949" height="781" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/antutu-chip-benchmark-2016.png 949w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/antutu-chip-benchmark-2016-300x247.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/antutu-chip-benchmark-2016-600x494.png 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/antutu-chip-benchmark-2016-510x420.png 510w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/antutu-chip-benchmark-2016-640x527.png 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/antutu-chip-benchmark-2016-681x560.png 681w" sizes="(max-width: 949px) 100vw, 949px" /></a></p>
<p>In comparison, the rival chipsets such as Kirin 950 and Exynos 7420 manage to score only about 92,746 points and 86,652 points respectively. So, clearly, Snapdragon 820 is in a totally different performance segment. However, we still have to see the performance of Exynos 8890 which hasn&#8217;t been benchmarked on AnTuTu yet. At least one S7 model is expected to feature the new Exynos chip and it should also score pretty high in the test.</p>
<p>Thanks to today&#8217;s AnTuTu listing, we also know the specifications of the Galaxy S7. The phone is said to come with a <strong>5.1-inch 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution display</strong> with <strong>4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage</strong>. At the back, there will be a <strong>12MP camera sensor, while up front, a 5MP shooter</strong>. For software, the <strong>S7 will run on the latest Android 6.0.1 OS</strong>.</p>
<p>Looks like the Snapdragon 820 will be one of the most powerful chipsets of 2016.</p>

<p>Given the high-end specs of the smartphone, which includes 3GB RAM, 64GB of storage and 2K resolution display, the phone managed to score about 131,648 points on AnTuTu. This is much better than any other scores that we have seen lately, which tells us a little about the performance of this chip. In fact, it&#8217;s much better than the already powerful Huawei Kirin 950 chip. The chip manages to score about 97,000 in the same test.</p>
<figure id="attachment_66879" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-66879" style="width: 440px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/mate-8-antutu-benchmark.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-66879 size-full" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/mate-8-antutu-benchmark.jpg?x44794" alt="mate 8 antutu benchmark" width="440" height="782" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/mate-8-antutu-benchmark.jpg 440w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/mate-8-antutu-benchmark-169x300.jpg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/mate-8-antutu-benchmark-236x420.jpg 236w" sizes="(max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-66879" class="wp-caption-text">Mate 8 AnTuTu Scores</figcaption></figure>
<p>The CPU performance is slightly better on the Kirin 950, mainly because of the four extra cores, scoring about 33K points, whereas, the Snapdragon 820 scores only about 31K.</p>
<p>While the CPU performance is more or less similar, what really sets the Snapdragon 820 chip apart from Kirin 950 is the GPU performance, thanks to Adreno 530. As you can see in the AnTuTu test screenshots in the article, Snapdragon 820 blows away Kirin 950 when it comes to GPU performance. It&#8217;s more than twice as powerful as the Kirin chip which is really impressive. The Qualcomm chip scores about 54,000 points in the 3D test, where as Kirin 950 only scores about 21,000.</p>
<p>So, in the overall test, the Snapdragon 820 comes out on top. There are a lot of devices that are expected to be powered by this Qualcomm chip next year. We expect the<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/12/07/xiaomi-mi-5-first-snapdragon-820-phone-says-analyst/"> Xiaomi Mi 5 to be the first phone with the chip</a>, followed by other Chinese players like LeTV, ZTE Nubia and South Korean companies like Samsung.</p>

According to the recent speculations, the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/05/27/xiaomi-mi5-coming-in-november-with-snapdragon-820-and-quad-hd-display/">device is expected to come with the new high-end chipset from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 820</a>. It was even said that the launch was delayed because Xiaomi wanted to use the new Snapdragon chip. Now, we may have some idea about the performance of the device, thanks to a leaked AnTuTu benchmark screenshot.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/xiaomi-mi5-antutu-benchmark.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-56501" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/xiaomi-mi5-antutu-benchmark.jpg?x44794" alt="xiaomi-mi5-antutu-benchmark" width="440" height="711" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/xiaomi-mi5-antutu-benchmark.jpg 440w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/xiaomi-mi5-antutu-benchmark-186x300.jpg 186w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/xiaomi-mi5-antutu-benchmark-260x420.jpg 260w" sizes="(max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px" /></a></p>
<p>The leaked image shows that the Xiaomi Mi5 scored a mind blowing 73075 points. That&#8217;s even better than the Samsung Exynos 7420 that currently powers flagships like Galaxy S6, S6 Edge and Galaxy Note 5. Given that Snapdragon 820 is expected to power the Mi5, the performance that we saw on AnTuTu could very well be of the next Qualcomm chip. We expected Snapdragon 820 to perform well as recent rumors have said that the chip will most likely feature four custom Kyro cores clocked at 3.0GHz.</p>
<p>Another likely chip inside the Mi5 is the Helio X20 with 10 cores. The chip managed to score <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/04/21/mediatek-helio-x20-mt6797-breaks-70000-points-barrier-on-antutu/" target="_blank">above 70K on AnTuTu </a>back in April, so this Mi5 in the leaked screenshot could be powered by the MTK Helio X20 as well. But, that&#8217;s just a guess, because almost every recent leak has tipped Snapdragon 820 inside the Xiaomi Mi5.</p>
<p>As for the specs, the flagship is expected to come with a 5.2-inch 2K display, 4GB of RAM and a 16MP OIS camera. The launch could be <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/05/27/xiaomi-mi5-coming-in-november-with-snapdragon-820-and-quad-hd-display/">around November this year.</a> Pricing is expected to be under $400.</p>
<p>So, which chip would you like to see inside the Xiaomi Mi5? Snapdragon 820 or Helio x20?</p>
