The premium foldable smartphone is unlike other foldable available on the market as it features an outward folding design. So let&#8217;s take a closer look at what all the Mate Xs 2 brings to the table.</p>
<h3><strong>Design &amp; Display</strong></h3>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-457446 size-large" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Huawei-Mate-Xs-2-1024x676.png?x44794" alt="Huawei Mate Xs 2" width="1024" height="676" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Huawei-Mate-Xs-2-1024x676.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Huawei-Mate-Xs-2-300x198.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Huawei-Mate-Xs-2-768x507.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Huawei-Mate-Xs-2-696x460.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Huawei-Mate-Xs-2-1068x706.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Huawei-Mate-Xs-2-636x420.png 636w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Huawei-Mate-Xs-2.png 1211w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>Design-wise, the device is similar to its predecessor as it has an outward folding design rather than an inward one found on traditional foldables. While folded, the display stays in place due to a latch mechanism and when released, it opens partway thanks to the spring-loaded hinge.</p>
<p>The body of the Mate Xs 2 is made of materials like aviation-grade titanium alloy, ultra-light fiberglass, and ultra-light and super-strong steel making the foldable weigh just 255 grams. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Huawei</a> has used a microfiber material for the back panel of the device.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-457447 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Huawei-Mate-Xs-2_1.png?x44794" alt="Huawei Mate Xs 2" width="1592" height="698" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Huawei-Mate-Xs-2_1.png 1592w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Huawei-Mate-Xs-2_1-300x132.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Huawei-Mate-Xs-2_1-768x337.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Huawei-Mate-Xs-2_1-1024x449.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Huawei-Mate-Xs-2_1-696x305.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Huawei-Mate-Xs-2_1-1068x468.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Huawei-Mate-Xs-2_1-958x420.png 958w" sizes="(max-width: 1592px) 100vw, 1592px" /></p>
<p>When folded, the screen of the device measures 6.5-inches, and unfolding the Mate Xs 2 gives a larger screen area diagonally measuring 7.8-inches. Talking about the display, it is an OLED panel with 2480 x 2200 pixels resolution when expanded (2480 × 1176 pixels while folded). The screen has 120 Hz refresh rate, 240 Hz touch sampling rate, 1440 Hz PWM dimming, and 424ppi pixel density. The panel is capable of displaying 1.07 billion colors and covers the  P3 wide color gamut.</p>
<h3><strong>Specs</strong></h3>
<p>Under the hood, the smartphone houses a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Snapdragon-888-4G/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Snapdragon 888 4G</a> SoC with the Adreno 660 GPU on board. The device is offered with 8GB of RAM and 256/512GB storage. Huawei has also introduced a Collector&#8217;s edition which is offered in 12GB RAM and 512GB storage configuration. Both the variants can have their memory expanded by up to 256GB with Huawei&#8217;s Nano Memory Card.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-457449 size-large" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Huawei-Mate-Xs-2-Harmony-OS-2.0-1024x571.png?x44794" alt="Huawei Mate Xs 2" width="1024" height="571" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Huawei-Mate-Xs-2-Harmony-OS-2.0-1024x571.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Huawei-Mate-Xs-2-Harmony-OS-2.0-300x167.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Huawei-Mate-Xs-2-Harmony-OS-2.0-768x428.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Huawei-Mate-Xs-2-Harmony-OS-2.0-696x388.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Huawei-Mate-Xs-2-Harmony-OS-2.0-1068x595.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Huawei-Mate-Xs-2-Harmony-OS-2.0-754x420.png 754w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Huawei-Mate-Xs-2-Harmony-OS-2.0.png 1470w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>Software-wise, the Mate Xs 2 runs on HarmonyOS 2 out of the box which brings new smart multi-window and quick-swipe gestures to accommodate for the large screen. It also has an adaptive UI engine with a self-learning layout and optimization. The top 300 apps on the AppGallery have been officially adapted for the big screen of the Mate Xs 2.</p>
<p>The battery on the Huawei Mate Xs 2 has a 4600mAh capacity while the Collector&#8217;s edition comes with a bigger 4880mAh battery. Both variants come with 66W fast charging support which the company claims can refill the battery to 90% in just 30 minutes. To keep thermals under control, the device has incorporated a Graphene liquid cooling system.</p>

Today, the company confirmed that it will be launching a new device named the Huawei Mate <span data-startindex="422" data-endindex="423" data-paragraphid="4">Xs</span> 2 on April 28 in China. Ahead of the launch, a Chinese tipster leaked the design and key features of the device.</p>
<p>The official poster released by Huawei teases the design of the Mate Xs 2. The moniker of the device suggests that it will have a design similar to the Mate Xs model from the past.</p>

<p>The Huawei Mate Xs 2 leaked images shared by <a href="https://twitter.com/GeekCao/status/1517348072158040069">Chinese tipster</a> Geek_Cao give a good look at its outward folding design. The images also show that the device will be available in three colors: black, white, and purple.</p>

<p>The Mate Xs 2’s display can be seen sporting a punch-hole design. As far as durability is concerned, the tipster claims that its screen will have multiple buffer layers to protect it from damage against drops. The company will probably drop test the device to show off its durability.</p>

It will be accompanied by a 13-megapixel ultrawide camera and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera. The tipster claims that it is unclear which 4G processor will be powering the device. Past reports have claimed that it may feature the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/kirin-9000">Kirin 9000 4G</a> or <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-888">Snapdragon 888 4G</a> chipset.</p>
<p>The TENAA listing of the device revealed that it comes with HarmonyOS 2.0.1 and a 4,500mAh battery. The device is expected to carry support for 66W rapid charging.</p>
