<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Just like the previous models, the Galaxy S22 series will be powered by </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Qualcomm/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Qualcomm</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> Snapdragon and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Samsung/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Samsung</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> Exynos chipsets. The tentative names of these SoCs are Snapdragon 895 and Exynos 2200.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Usually, the Snapdragon version is more powerful than the Exynos variant. But a preliminary Geekbech listing of the vanilla Galaxy S22 with a Snapdragon 895 suggests a different story.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">As per the </span><a href="https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/9890007"><span style="font-weight: 400">listing</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, the Qualcomm variant of the Galaxy S22 (SM-S901) with 8GB RAM and Android 12 scores only 475 points and 1393 points in single-core and multi-core tests respectively. For those unaware, these scores are way too low for the next-gen Snapdragon 800 series silicon. This year’s Snapdragon 888 itself can easily attain over 900 points in the single-core test and above 3000 points in the multi-core test.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">As </span><a href="https://www.sammobile.com/news/snapdragon-galaxy-s22-loses-to-exynos-model-early-benchmark/"><span style="font-weight: 400">SamMobile</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> points out, this particular listing could be either fake or the unit used was still not optimized. There’s also a chance that the device used for benchmark had ‘Power saving mode’ turned on.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">We also have a similar feeling towards these benchmark scores. Anyway, we are still months away from the launch of this handset, which might take place in January. Hence, we expect to come across even more benchmark listings and whatnot in the coming days.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Having said that, what’s your take on this Geekbench listing of Galaxy S22? Also, what are your expectations of Exynos 2200, which is said to arrive with </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/AMD/"><span style="font-weight: 400">AMD</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> mRDNA GPU? <p>According to the Chinese leaker that goes by Bald Panda on Weibo, the Redmi K50 series will be powered by <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/qualcomm">Qualcomm</a> Snapdragon processors. He reveals that the chipsets are the Snapdragon 888 and the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-895">Snapdragon 895</a>.</p>
<p>Based on the way the post is phrased, we can deduce that he is referring to the successors of the Redmi K40, Redmi K40 Pro, and Redmi K40 Pro+ respectively. Save for the Redmi K50 which will be powered by the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-888">Snapdragon 888</a>, the Redmi K50 Pro and Redmi K50 Pro+ will have the Snapdragon 895 as the chipset inside them.</p>
<p>It appears that Redmi is sticking to the tradition of giving the base model of the Redmi K series a less powerful chipset than its siblings. Nevertheless, the Snapdragon 888 is still an upgrade over the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-870">Snapdragon 870</a> inside the Redmi K40.</p>
<p>There is no info on the chipset that will power the successor to the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition. We don&#8217;t even know if a successor is in development yet. However, we won&#8217;t be surprised that Redmi may stick to <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/mediatek">MediaTek</a>.</p>

Now, the eyes are on the next-generation chipset from Qualcomm which is set to launch at the end of this year.</p>
<p>The upcoming chipset, likely to be called Snapdragon 895 or Snapdragon 898, will come with model number SM8450. It will be powering most of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/flagship-smartphone">flagship smartphones</a> getting launched next year.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-405686 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Qualcomm-SM8450-Samsung-4nm.png?x10805" alt="Qualcomm SM8450 (Snapdragon 898) using Samsung 4nm process" width="1190" height="230" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Qualcomm-SM8450-Samsung-4nm.png 1190w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Qualcomm-SM8450-Samsung-4nm-300x58.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Qualcomm-SM8450-Samsung-4nm-768x148.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Qualcomm-SM8450-Samsung-4nm-1024x198.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Qualcomm-SM8450-Samsung-4nm-696x135.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Qualcomm-SM8450-Samsung-4nm-1068x206.png 1068w" sizes="(max-width: 1190px) 100vw, 1190px" /></p>
<p>With just a few months more before the official announcement, details about the upcoming flagship processor from <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/qualcomm">Qualcomm</a> are not surfacing online. Digital Chat Station has now revealed that the Snapdragon SM8450 will be manufactured using Samsung&#8217;s 4nm process and will result in 20 percent increased performance.</p>
<p>Previously, it was reported that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 will feature a three-cluster architecture. It will include a super-large core based on Cortex-X2, a large core based on Cortex-A710, and a small core based on Cortex-A510. All these new designs will be under the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/arm">ARM</a> v9 Pure 64-bit system.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-405687 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Qualcomm-Snapdragon-898.jpeg?x10805" alt="Qualcomm Snapdragon 898" width="829" height="511" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Qualcomm-Snapdragon-898.jpeg 829w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Qualcomm-Snapdragon-898-300x185.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Qualcomm-Snapdragon-898-768x473.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Qualcomm-Snapdragon-898-356x220.jpeg 356w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Qualcomm-Snapdragon-898-696x429.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Qualcomm-Snapdragon-898-681x420.jpeg 681w" sizes="(max-width: 829px) 100vw, 829px" /></p>
<p>The Cortex-X2 offers about 16 percent improvement in design performance than X1. But after tuning by Qualcomm, it has been optimized to perform better. However, for the performance results, we will have to wait for the mass-produced version of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/chipset">chipset</a>.</p>
<p>Given the track record, we expect Xiaomi to be the first company to launch a smartphone powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 chipset once it gets officially announced in December this year at Qualcomm Summit.</p>
<p>There will also be a Snapdragon 898+ SoC which should be launched in the second half of 2022. A report reveals that while the Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 will be manufactured by Samsung, the Plus variant <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/07/04/4nm-snapdragon-895-series-production-to-be-split-between-samsung-and-tsmc/">will be manufactured by TSMC</a>.</p>

<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-399754 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Screenshot-341.png?x10805" alt="Samsung" width="737" height="188" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Screenshot-341.png 737w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Screenshot-341-300x77.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Screenshot-341-696x178.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 737px) 100vw, 737px" /></p>
<p>For those unaware, the Exyno 2200 is an upcoming chipset from the South Korean tech giant that will arrive with an <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/amd-radeon/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">AMD Radeon</a> GPU, which reportedly outperforms the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-a14/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Apple A14</a> SoC in graphics. According to a Weibo post, a Chinese microblogging website, from @i冰宇宙 (IceUniverse) the Exynos 2200 is codenamed &#8220;Pamir.&#8221; This chip is expected to be built on a 4nm process and will arrive with Team Red&#8217;s RDNA 2 architecture graphics codenamed &#8220;Voyager.&#8221;</p>
<p>Notably, the RDNA 2 from AMD is the same architecture which is also used in current gen gaming consoles like the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xbox-series-x/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Xbox Series X</a> and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/playstation-5/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">PlayStation 5</a>. Its latest lineup of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/radeon-rx-6000-series-gpu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Radeon RX 6000 series</a> of graphics card also feature this technology as well. In other words, Samsung might have a competitive edge in terms of graphical performance with the new Exynos 2200 on its flagship smartphones. Previously, we had reported on Qualcomm launching the new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/07/06/xiaomi-mi-12-launch-dec-snapdragon-895-ahead-schedule/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Snapdragon 800 series SoC in early December 2021</a>.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-364042 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Exynos-featured.jpg?x10805" alt="Samsung" width="518" height="365" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Exynos-featured.jpg 518w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Exynos-featured-300x211.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Exynos-featured-100x70.jpg 100w" sizes="(max-width: 518px) 100vw, 518px" /></p>
<p>We can likely expect this chip to debut with the Galaxy S22 series. Although, since the brand launches the lineup in two variants, we can also expect the latest flagship smartphone models to also arrive with Qualcomm Snapdragon 895 processors as well. So stay tuned for more, as we will be providing updates when additional information is available regarding this matter.</p>

<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-263537 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/qualcomm.jpg?x10805" alt="Xiaomi" width="750" height="516" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/qualcomm.jpg 750w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/qualcomm-300x206.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/qualcomm-100x70.jpg 100w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/qualcomm-218x150.jpg 218w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/qualcomm-696x479.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/qualcomm-610x420.jpg 610w" sizes="(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /></p>
<p>According to @i<a href="https://weibo.com/u/5673255066?is_all=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">冰宇宙</a> (IceUniverse), the American chipmaking giant will be launching the Snapdragon 895 ahead of schedule by at least half a month. Since the launch of its latest flagship chips usually are at the start of a year, we could expect the new high end processor to launch in early December of this year. In other words, this would also imply that Xiaomi might be launching its next gen flagship, the Mi 12 lineup, by the end of this year.</p>
<p>While the name of the upcoming premium grade smartphone from Xiaomi is currently unknown, it will likely be called the Mi 12 and would be the first to feature, if not one of the first, to feature the new Snapdragon 895 SoC. Similarly, Chen Jin, General Manager of Lenovo has previously stated that its latest flagship phone will arrive with Snapdragon 895 and will launch before New Years day in 2022. So, Xiaomi might also be in line with a similar launch date.</p>

<p>For those unaware, the Chinese tech giant and Qualcomm have had a close partnership for a while now, and has traditionally always launched its annual flagship close to the announcement of new chips. The company had previously launched the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/mi-11/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Mi 11</a>, which was the first to sport the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-888/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Snapdragon 888</a> in December 2020. But now, its successor might be unveiled by the start of December of this year.</p>

It has been reported that the new chipset will be called the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-895">Snapdragon 895</a>. Details of its production have now surfaced.</p>
<p>Reliable Chinese leaker, Ice Universe, has revealed that the Snapdragon 895 will be a 4nm chipset and it will be manufactured by <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/Samsung">Samsung</a>. There will also be a Snapdragon 895 Plus/Snapdragon 895+ which should launch in the second half of 2022 and will be manufactured by <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/TSMC">TSMC</a>.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-337265" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Snapdragon-732G-SoC.jpg?x10805" alt="Snapdragon 732G" width="750" height="397" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Snapdragon-732G-SoC.jpg 750w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Snapdragon-732G-SoC-300x159.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Snapdragon-732G-SoC-696x368.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /></p>
<p>It is interesting to see that Qualcomm is moving to a smaller node size just a year after making the move from 7nm to 5nm. However, that isn&#8217;t to say it will no longer make 5nm chips. We should still see new Snapdragon 800 and Snapdragon 700 series 5nm chips.</p>
<p>It has been reported that the Snapdragon 895 has the part number “SM8450”. It will have a Kryo 760 CPU, an Adreno 730 GPU, Spectra 680 ISP, and an integrated Snapdragon X65 5G modem.</p>
<p>It should be announced in December but we don&#8217;t know if we will see it on a phone this year or next year.</p>
