It is a small gimbal with an embedded camera that you can carry anywhere as it can literally fit into your pocket. There are other similar products like this on the market like the well-known DJI Osmo Pocket and today, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAQlBPJm6kMSnoppa points out the differences between these two. Let&#8217;s see what they have to say.</p>
<p>For starters, the Vmate sports a 90 degrees rotatable lens and you can switch from horizontal to vertical orientation quickly. This is something very useful that the DJI Osmo Pocket is missing. In addition, the horizontal axis has a rotation range of 400 degrees so there are no blind spots or dead corners when shooting. On the other hand, DJI&#8217;s gimbal reaches up to just 280 degrees. That&#8217;s less than a turn.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-1.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-290529" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-1.png?x10805" alt="Vmate gimbal" width="695" height="505" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-1.png 695w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-1-300x218.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-1-324x235.png 324w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-1-578x420.png 578w" sizes="(max-width: 695px) 100vw, 695px" /></a></p>
<p>When talking about connectivity, the Vmatec comes with WiFi built-in and you can preview what you&#8217;re shooting on your phone and also use the smartphone as a remote control. Thanks to that connection, the Vmate can wirelessly transmit 4k video files to the phone. The DJI Osmo Pocket is using a USB connection that after a period of time is easy to loosen resulting in poor contact and it&#8217;s even easier to break. Not to mention the fact that it&#8217;s not very practical when using it as the cable gets in the way. Using WiFi means that you can attach the Snoppa Vmate anywhere on the phone while the Osmo Pocket has to be placed only on the right side of the phone. Lastly, both come with USB Type-C ports at the bottom but Osmo&#8217;s uses USB 2.0 protocol which means reduced transmission speeds.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-2.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-290531" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-2.png?x10805" alt="Vmate gimbal" width="695" height="417" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-2.png 695w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-2-300x180.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 695px) 100vw, 695px" /></a></p>
<p>Both devices can shoot up to 4K@60fps video but the Vmate can also shoot slow-motion FHD video @240fps while the Osmo Pocket stays @120fps. In addition, Snoppa Vmate reaches up to 200Mbps bitrate and Osmo just 100Mbps. This means better video quality for the Vmate that has a new hardware module that does away with the focus issues found on Osmo.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-3.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-290532" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-3.png?x10805" alt="Vmate gimbal" width="695" height="427" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-3.png 695w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-3-300x184.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-3-356x220.png 356w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-3-684x420.png 684w" sizes="(max-width: 695px) 100vw, 695px" /></a></p>
<p>Vmate and Osmo Pocket are similar in size but the Vmate handle is 5mm wider to offer a more comfortable grip and it also has a slightly larger display than the DJI. Also, the Vmate has built-in Bluetooth and can be externally connected to a Bluetooth microphone like Apple&#8217;s Airpods, Xiaomi, etc. And even more important is the dual microphone of the Vmate that offers 2 functions: Noise reduction or stereo sound recording.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-4.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-290533" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-4.png?x10805" alt="Vmate gimbal" width="695" height="507" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-4.png 695w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-4-300x219.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-4-324x235.png 324w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-4-576x420.png 576w" sizes="(max-width: 695px) 100vw, 695px" /></a></p>
<p>The rest of the differences are found mostly in the software department. The Snoppa Vmate app offers a unique PIP mode besides the standard POV, time-lapse, panorama, and other modes. The PIP mode uses the smartphone&#8217;s front camera and vloggers love it. Finally, the Vmate has a TF card slot protected against water and also a lanyard hole if you prefer to carry it on your wrist. The Snoppa Vmate is currently in production and you can preorder it <a href="https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/vmate-a-palm-sized-gimbal-camera-with-all-you-need/#/"><strong>on Indiegogo</strong></a> at a discounted price.</p>

That&#8217;s why every manufacturer has put all its effort into improving the camera performance of their flagships. The problem is that most people would rather buy a mid-range device that usually lacks OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and that results in shaky videos and blurry low-light photos.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-1.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-290529" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-1.png?x10805" alt="Vmate gimbal" width="695" height="505" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-1.png 695w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-1-300x218.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-1-324x235.png 324w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-1-578x420.png 578w" sizes="(max-width: 695px) 100vw, 695px" /></a></p>
<p>The solution is easy: Just buy a gimbal and you are good to go. But gimbals are usually bulky and heavy and this fact cancels the advantage of the portability offered by a smartphone. The solution to this problem comes from Snoppa Technology, a Shenzhen-based company that released Vmate, A palm-sized gimbal camera that makes everyone&#8217;s life easier.</p>
<p><iframe loading="lazy" width="696" height="392" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/FAQlBPJm6kM?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>The Snoppa Vmate is practically an external camera for your smartphone adapted on a stabilizing system. It features 4K@60fps video recording and sports a micro 3-axis stabilizing system. The newly designed micro 3-axis stabilizing system can effectively eliminate shakes and jitters when filming handheld on the go, allowing for smooth and highly detailed footage.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-3.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-290532" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-3.png?x10805" alt="Vmate gimbal" width="695" height="427" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-3.png 695w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-3-300x184.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-3-356x220.png 356w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-3-684x420.png 684w" sizes="(max-width: 695px) 100vw, 695px" /></a></p>
<p>As said before, unlike ordinary gimbals which are commonly big and heavy, Vmate only weighs 118 grams. It is so small that it can easily fit into your pocket, handbag or even hanging from your wrist.</p>
<p>Performance-wise, it comes with its own CPU with ARM A53 cores, a 1/2.3 inch sensor, and 81˚ wide lens. The Aperture is f/2.0 and it can shoot video up to 4K@60fps as well as 1080p slow-motion video @240fps! What&#8217;s more, it can shoot 12MP photos.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-4.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-290533" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-4.png?x10805" alt="Vmate gimbal" width="695" height="507" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-4.png 695w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-4-300x219.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-4-324x235.png 324w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Vmate-gimbal-4-576x420.png 576w" sizes="(max-width: 695px) 100vw, 695px" /></a></p>
<p>The Vmate is crowdfunded on Indiegogo and has reached 411% of the set goal. According to the information provided, it already is on production stage. You can still grab some Early Bird deals and see all the details about it on the <a href="https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/vmate-a-palm-sized-gimbal-camera-with-all-you-need/#/"><strong>campaign page</strong></a>.</p>

The new gimbal boasts some interesting features that have received praise from reviewers. However, it turns out that another gimbal released much earlier was the first to have these features. This gimbal is the Snoppa Atom.</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter" src="https://c1.iggcdn.com/indiegogo-media-prod-cld/image/upload/c_limit,w_695/v1537177882/kq513fwjc1dr4aky5oko.png" data-src="https://c1.iggcdn.com/indiegogo-media-prod-cld/image/upload/c_limit,w_695/v1537177882/kq513fwjc1dr4aky5oko.png" /></p>
<p>The Snoppa Atom was released last year. It was originally crowdfunded on Indiegogo and the first batch began shipping in October 2018. The gimbal is made by Snoppa Technology, a Shenzhen-based company. So what are these features that the Osmo Mobile 3 copied from the atom? Let&#8217;s take a look at them below:</p>
<p><strong>Folding Mechanism</strong></p>
<p>The Snoppa Atom is the first portable gimbal with a foldable design. Prior to this, smartphone gimbals were not foldable and it didn&#8217;t make it easy to pack on a trip. However, Snoppa was able to design its product to be easily foldable. There is even a lock that prevents the arm from moving around when the arm is closed</p>

<h5><strong>One-key orientation switching</strong></h5>
<p>Some of the complaints from users for the older Osmo Mobile models was the inability to quickly switch between landscape to portrait orientation and vice versa. The Snoppa Atom allows you to change the orientation of the gimbal with a single key (programmable in the app). You can also rotate it manually if you wish.</p>

<p>DJI&#8217;s Osmo Mobile 3 allows you to change the orientation by tapping the Mode button three times in quick succession.</p>
<p>These two major features are those that first featured on the Atom but which the Osmo Mobile 3 has copied and which more gimbal makers will also likely adopt.</p>

<p>The Snoppa Atom also has some few other unique tricks such as wireless charging for your phone while in use. It also has an interface that allows you to use third-party microphones. Battery life also goes up to 24 hours as against the DJI&#8217;s 15 hours.</p>
<p>The Atom is priced at $149, $30 more than the Osmo Mobile 3.</p>
