Equipped with AI powered vision and navigation systems, the bot can roam across your backyard or a campsite to identify the best spot with sunlight.

It can even adjust its position to make the most of the available sunlight and charge up its battery. Its foldable solar array expands into multiple panels when charging, offering up to 600 watts of solar input. This concept allows smartphones to capture and store light energy from indoor and outdoor sources. In other words, the tech can revolutionize mobile energy by using solar power integration.

Infinix employs this tech by pairing a device with a special phone case that seamlessly transfers energy through discreet contact points, ensuring continuous power availability. Thanks to Sunflower Wireless Charging technology, the brand also adjusts power transmission over a range of 3 meters. Furthermore, this system also has emergency power access for power access even during outages. The brand believes that future devices may support sustainable charging tech.

Lenovo Yoga Solar PC Concept

Lenovo’s MWC booth had some unique new products that employed solar energy. The best example of this is the Yoga Solar PC Proof of Concept. Tesla‘s commitment to sustainable energy solutions has taken a major leap forward with the recent announcement of their groundbreaking “Charge On Solar” function. The company, known for its innovative electric vehicles and refined solar technology, revealed that Tesla owners can now charge their vehicles exclusively using excess solar energy generated by the Tesla solar system. This development is expected to revolutionize the way electric vehicles are charged and further reduce their carbon footprint.

The “Charge On Solar” feature requires some upgrades to both the Tesla vehicle and the Powerwall, which acts as a home battery system. To access this eco-friendly charging method, Tesla owners need to ensure their car is running on version 2023.26 or later. Additionally, the Tesla Powerwall should be upgraded to version 23.12.10 or later. Finally, to coordinate both the car and Powerwall effectively, the Tesla mobile application should be updated to version 4.22.5.

Upon completing these upgrades, Tesla owners can enable the “Charge On Solar” function through the Tesla application. The feature allows users to customize their charging experience by setting charge limits and choosing their preferred charge location. This level of personalization ensures that users can align their electric vehicle’s charging with their unique energy needs.

To optimize the solar charging process, Tesla vehicles equipped with the “Charge On Solar” feature continuously monitor the charging status in real-time. Every ten seconds, the system automatically adjusts the charging level as required. Moreover, users can schedule when to utilize solar charging, providing even greater flexibility and control over their energy usage.

However, it’s essential to note that this feature is exclusive to Tesla Powerwalls. Those with third-party batteries that store solar energy will not be able to benefit from the “Charge On Solar” capability at this time.

Garmin forerunner 200-series has been barren since 2019 but that changes now. The company has launched two new watches to refresh the series, dubbed Forerunner 255 and 955. Both watches carry multi-band GPS and new racing features such as a race widget. The Forerunner 955 also comes with a touchscreen and solar charging.

The Forerunner 255 is the more affordable one among the two. It comes with a lightweight design and has almost the same build as its predecessor Forerunner 245. The watch is available in 4 variants: the standard Forerunner 255, 255S (Smaller version), Forerunner 255 Music, and Forerunner 255S Music.

The standard 255 measures 46mm and weighs 49 grams, while the smaller 255S will measure 41mm and weigh 32 grams. The dimensions and weight are the same for the Music variants. The watches are water-resistant to up to 5ATM, and have a battery life of 14 days, with up to 30 hours in GPS mode.

The watch comes with some interesting feature upgrades. For instance, the full triathlon support as well as more accurate multi-band GPS. The watch now also has a Race widget which includes race prep information such as the performance predictions, race-day weather, and a countdown clock. Furthermore, the watch has a “morning report” function which displays a brief summary of the day’s weather, a daily workout recommendation, and a sleep report from the previous night.

If we talk about the pricing, the series starts at $350 for the smaller Forerunner 255S as well as the standard 255. However, if you want to buy the music variants, you’ll need to spend $50 more for a total of $400.

Garmin also added a more premium watch in the series: The Forerunner 955. The watch sports a 47mm always-on, full-color touchscreen display and weighs around 52 g. The 955 series also have a solar variant which, as the name suggests, can be charged through sunlight.

It is the company’s first solar-powered watch dedicated to running. The solar variant can last up to 20 days in smartwatch mode and 49 hours inactive GPS. The Forerunner 955 has all the software improvements that come with the 255’. Moreover, it has music and Garmin Pay built-in.

The 955 Solar variant comes at a price of $600, while the standard Forerunner 955 is available at a price of $500.

Garmin has just launched new refreshed versions of its existing smartwatch lineup. The new variants arrive with one major feature, which is solar technology, to its premium smartwatches.

The new Garmin refreshes are for 4 existing models. These iconic smartwatches include the Instinct, Fenix 6, Fenix 6s, and Tactix Delta. Notably, Garmin has launched solar powered smartwatches in the past, but the refresh does breathe a new life into the previously launched wearables that were quite popular. The new launch promises increased battery life and a few new features like support for surfing, mountain biking, and climbing activities.

Under the hood, the new refreshes do not arrive with any major changes in their specs except for the inclusion of solar technology. The Fenix 6s now offers an extra day and a half of battery life, if it is supplied with ample sunlight, while the 6 Pro Solar has received up to two extra days of battery life thanks to the newly added technology.

Garmin Instinct, on the other hand, arrives in three new solar models, Instinct Solar, Instinct Solar Surf Edition, and Instinct Soar Tactical Edition. The entire lineup offers up to 50 days of battery life in smartwatch mode if provided with ample amounts of sunlight exposure. Although, they should last for far longer if used in the Battery Saver mode.

Lastly, Tactix Delta, the military grade smartwatch, can use solar charging to extend endurance and Power Manager mode to offer up to 21 days of indoor and 24 days with sufficient sunlight exposure. For the pricing, the new refreshes are expensive and start from $400 for the Instinct Solar and going up to $850 for Fenix 6 Series Solar Editions and $1,100 for the Tactix Delta Solar Edition.
