Starting in October, Steam will make it easier for you to know if a game supports Sony’s DualSense or DualShock controllers. The update comes from Valve, the company behind Steam, as they aim to make the platform more controller-friendly.

Steam is also making some games more friendly for PlayStation controllers

Developers will now fill out a survey in Steamworks, a set of tools provided by Valve. This lets them say if their game works well with different types of controllers, including Xbox and Sony’s DualShock and DualSense. When you’re shopping for a new game, you’ll be able to see this info right on the Steam store.

The move comes as more people are using Sony controllers on Steam. In 2018, just 11% of all gaming sessions on Steam used a Sony controller. That number is now up to 27%. Overall, 87 million Steam users have played a game using some sort of controller since 2017. Most used Xbox controllers, but a good number also used PlayStation controllers and others.

This update is the first in a series aimed at making Steam more friendly for different controllers. The goal is to make it easier for you to pick games that you know will work well with the gear you already have.

So, if you’re a gamer who’s been unsure about which games will work with your Sony controller, Steam is making that choice easier. It’s a step toward making the gaming experience better for everyone, no matter what hardware they use.

The company unveiled the new DualSense Edge wireless controllers for the PlayStation 5 game console.

As the name suggests, it appears that the new game controllers are the “Pro” variant of the existing DualSense controllers. This variant comes with a various improvements, with one of the major additions being the ability to customize controls, switchable stick caps, back buttons, and more. The new DualSense Edge controller has all the wireless features of the original DualSense. This includes features like haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, a built in microphone, motion controls, and others.

Furthermore, it also arrives with a braided USB Type C cable for connectivity. Although, its major updates includes customizable controls where a user can basically customize each part of their DualSense Edge and map controls to specific inputs and even tune their aim by adjusting stick sensitivity and dead zones. Apart from this, there is also the option to create multiple control profiles to let users save multiple profiles for different key mappings.

One of the best additions with the new DualSense Edge Controller is undoubtedly the modular design of the controller. This basically lets users swap stick caps to ensure comfort. Additionally players can even map controls to these swappable set of back buttons as well.
