A new leak has just surfaced, which revealed some details regarding the camera system on the Huawei Mate 50 series of smartphones. The new lineup consists of flagship grade handsets and will apparently feature 50 megapixel primary camera on the rear.

The news arrives from Digital Chat Station, which is a known tipster who shared the news on Weibo (a Chinese microblogging website). For those unaware, the Chinese tech giant had previously announced that it will be announcing the new high end smartphone series during a launch event on September 6. During this time, the company will likely launch other products as well, but the highlight of this conference is the Huawei Mate 50 series.

Now, the tipster Digital Chat Station revealed earlier today (25th August 2022) that the Mate 50 lineup will feature a 50 megapixel primary camera on the rear. The new image sensor will have a size of 1/1.5 inch and is claimed to be the Sony IMX766 sensor. Furthermore, the new higher end Mate 50 Pro will also feature a variable aperture technology.

The mate 50 series will also feature a telephoto lens that has a 3x, 3.5x, and 5x telephoto zoom lens, Sony IMX688 sensor, OV64B sensor, along with the Sony IMX766 main camera as well. As of right now, this was all the information shared by the tipster and finer details regarding the upcoming series is still at large. So we will have to wait for the official announcement to know more.

Oppo has officially launched its Oppo K10 5G series in China today. The Oppo K10 5G series is positioned as a gaming-oriented value-for-money flagship for the Chinese market and Oppo has even collaborated with Razer, the well-renowned gaming electronics manufacturer, to give gamers the mobile gaming experience they deserve.

Oppo K10 5G

The Oppo K10 5G is the world’s first-ever smartphone powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8000 MAX SoC. The MediaTek Dimensity 8000 MAX is essentially an underclocked version of the Dimensity 8100 that we have seen on the Realme GT Neo 3 and Redmi K50. 

Oppo mentioned in the launch that the reason the brand selected the Dimensity 8000 MAX over Dimensity 8100 was that after comparing both chipsets, the company found that the performance difference between both the chipsets was insignificant. Compared to the more significantly extra battery endurance that the underclocked Dimensity 8000 provided, Oppo wanted gamers to enjoy their gaming experience without worrying about battery life.

For memory and connectivity, Oppo has put in the fastest WiFi 6 and 5G module in the smartphone, the fastest LPPDR5 RAM, and the fastest UFS 3.1 storage into the Oppo K10 to prevent any lags or stutters during gaming.

For the screen, the Oppo K10 5G is equipped with a 6.59-inch 120Hz FHD LTPS LCD display with a peak brightness of 600 nits, to deliver a smooth gaming experience for all the gamers out there. Battery-wise, the Oppo K10 5G is equipped with a 5000mAh battery with support for Oppo’s 67W SuperVOOC fast charging.

For an enjoyable gaming experience, haptics must not be ignored. That’s why the Oppo K10 5G is equipped with a flagship-grade X-axis linear vibration motor to deliver high-quality haptics for its users. However, hardware alone can’t win users over, so Oppo reached out to Razer for a collaboration on their new Oppo K10 5G series.

Razer has incorporated its expertise into the Oppo K10’s vibration motor system to provide users with a “mechanical keyboard like” typing and gaming experience for users to enjoy on their smartphone. With the mechanical in-hand feel, gamers are said to be in their natural habitat, providing better gaming performance since they are more immersed than ever with this revolutionary experience.

The Oppo K10 5G has a triple rear camera setup with a 64MP main sensor, 8MP 112° ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2MP macro lens. On the front, the 16MP selfie camera is housed within the punch hole located on the left side of the display.

Under the hood, the Oppo K10 Pro swaps out the Dimensity 8000 MAX with Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 888 processor. To fully utilise the Snapdragon 888 to its full potential, Oppo has installed stainless steel vapour cooling technology to keep the Snapdragon 888 running cool and smooth all time. 

For the screen, the Oppo K10 Pro opts for a flagship-grade 6.62-inch 120Hz FHD Samsung E4 OLED panel that has a typical brightness of 500 nits and a peak brightness of 1300 nits instead. Keeping the lights on is the Oppo K10 Pro’s massive 5000mAh battery with Oppo’s 80W SuperVOOC charging technology.

The biggest upgrade here is the camera. The Oppo K10 Pro features the same Sony IMX766 main sensor with OIS found on the Oppo Find X5 Pro. Since Oppo has developed a sophisticated camera algorithm for the Sony IMX766 over the years, the company claims the Oppo K10 Pro can deliver spectacular camera performance whether it be day or night. Besides the main sensor, the Oppo K10 Pro features the same 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP Macro and 16MP selfie camera as the standard Oppo K10.

The Oppo K10 Pro also does not skimp on ergonomics as well. The Oppo K10 Pro’s camera island seamlessly curves into the back frame of the device like its more expensive flagship Oppo Find X5 Pro cousin. These curves ensure that users will always stay comfortable when going for long-gaming sessions on their latest Oppo K10 Pro.

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus has launched the OnePlus Ace in China. The smartphone comes sporting a fresh look and is clad with the new MediaTek Dimensity 8100-MAX premium mid-range SoC. So let’s take a look at what the new device has in store for us.

Display & Design

Design-wise, the smartphone is quite distinct from the previous OnePlus devices. It features a design inspired by straight lines and has a flat-edged frame with rounded corners. The rear panel has a two-tone color scheme with vertical lines going all the way down like a waterfall. The camera island of the device also comes with a unique look, occupying the top-left edge of the back panel to house the triple camera and LED flash.

To make the device easier and more comfortable to hold, the brand has included a subtle edge arc on the back using “2.5D step processing.” OnePlus has officially revealed that the Ace measures 8.2mm in thickness and weighs 186 grams.

On the front, it sports a 6.7-inch OLED display that has an FHD+ resolution and also supports a 120Hz refresh rate, 360Hz touch sampling rate, and even a 720Hz gaming touch sampling rate as well. It also offers 100 percent DCI P3 color gamut, HDR10+ support, and a maximum brightness of 1000 nits. The screen has a punch-hole cutout in the top center for the front camera.

Specs

At its heart, the OnePlus Ace has the new MediaTek Dimensity 8100-MAX SoC. The new SoC comes paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Along with the onboard graphics, OnePlus has also included an independent graphics chip on the device to boost the ingame framerates.

OnePlus has also provided the HyperBoost game frame stabilization engine to reduce frame drops and jittering during long gaming sessions. The device has passed “hell-level” game test certifications, which include approval from Tail Lab, the League of Legends mobile game professional league, and the Peace Elite Professional League (PUBG).

The device runs Android 12-based ColorOS 12 out of the box and has a 4,500mAh battery coupled with jaw-dropping 150W SuperVOOC fast charging. With this charging solution onboard, users will be able to charge their devices from 0% to 100% in less than 17 minutes. The battery comes with TÜV Rheinland certification of safe fast charging and is claimed by the company to retain 80% battery health after 4 years of use.

Connectivity options include 5G, dual 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port for charging and data sync. The device also has an in-display fingerprint reader for security and features an X-axis linear motor and a Vapor Chamber with the largest cooling area in the history of OnePlus.

Cameras

For optics, the OnePlus Ace features a triple camera setup headlined by a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 primary sensor (with OIS, 4K, night mode, and more). Accompanying the primary sensor, the phone brings an 8-megapixel Sony IMX355 ultra-wide lens and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. On the front side, the smartphone will have a 16-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL S5K3P9SP lens for taking selfies and video calling.

Accessories

OnePlus has also debuted a cooling back clip with the device dubbed the OnePlus 18W Freezing point cooling back clip. Equipped with dual-channel overclocking cooling, ultra-high thermal conductivity materials, and the industry’s first super strength heat dissipation capacity, the company claims that pairing this external cooler with the OnePlus Ace will net its users an average 59.1 frames even after an hour of gaming. The OnePlus Freezing point cooler is claimed to keep the temperature of the device down to only 36.4 ℃ even during a long gaming session. Its energy consumption is rated at 18W.

The OnePlus Ace has been made available in two colors – Black and a color-shifting shade of Light Blue.

Realme is set to launch the Realme GT Neo 3 officially in China on March 22nd, 2 days away from today. And like all major launches in 2022, the company is also following the “drip and feed” trend of releasing the features of the device each day before launch to build up for the anticipated “probably industry-changing” device of the year. 

In its latest teaser announcement on Weibo, Chase Xu, Senior Executive at Realme, reveals the jaw-dropping camera highlight of the Realme GT Neo 3. The Realme GT Neo 3 will sport a flagship Sony IMX766 50MP sensor with OIS! 

For context, the Sony IMX766 sensor is mostly used on flagships like the Xiaomi 12 series, vivo X70 series, Oppo Find X3 and Find X5 series. 

However, equipping only flagship hardware won’t magically give the phone extraordinary photographing abilities. That’s why Chase also mentioned that Realme has developed a brand new advanced imaging algorithm for the Realme GT Neo 3 that focuses 94% faster than its predecessor, the Realme GT Neo2 and allows for shutter speeds that are also 62% faster. The executive also exclaims that the device will sport better a night mode, to make it an all-scene photographing device no matter day or night.

Despite being an upper mid-range offering from Realme, the Realme GT Neo 3 pulls no punches compared to its flagship siblings. Besides its camera, the Realme GT Neo 3 was also revealed to be the first-ever smartphone in the industry to be equipped with 150W wired charging for consumers. Realme claims that the new charging technology allows for the device to charge from 0% to 50% within 5 minutes! 

Another highlight of the Realme GT Neo 3 includes its MediaTek Dimensity 8100 processor in which early benchmarks reveal that the chip’s performance also surpasses that of Qualcomm’s highest-end chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. And of course, screen quality is also a highlight for the device as it boasts a 120Hz flat AMOLED display with a staggering 94.2% screen to body ratio, and a 1000Hz touch sampling rate for smooth performance on the go.
