To recall. the PlayStation 5 Pro arrives with the latest Wi-Fi 7 standard (IEEE 802.11be). This new connectivity technology helps make download speeds faster, improving the online gaming experience overall. But this new tech operates in the 6GHz wireless band, which offers wider channels and less interference compared to its predecessors.

Unfortunately, India and certain other countries have yet to approve this new WiFi standard. Due to this minor regulatory hurdle, Sony has pushed back the PS5 Pro launch. Unlike the global market, the launch of the latest PlayStation in India is not near. So until the Indian government approves Wi-Fi 7 technology, gamers in the region might have to buy the new console from abroad. This delay has disappointed fans and those eager to buy the new console.

Oddly enough, there are various smartphones that support WiFi 7, which launched in India. Although, these models only supported Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 6. Sony could follow a similar strategy to launch the PS5 Pro in India soon. As of right now, it is still unclear when the company will launch the PS5 Pro in India. Based on a teaser campaign launched recently, Sony India is gearing up to introduce a new Bravia series TV soon. The teaser campaign has the tagline “Turn off your cellphones and maintain silence”, which could only mean an immersive entertainment experience. A link on the Sony India website lets users sign up for notifications about the upcoming product. The page is titled “Notify Me Bravia,” further confirming that the new launch belongs to the Bravia TV lineup.

Alognside that information, there are some other teasers, including an image of a “3D MOVIE TICKET” dated July 4, 2024, which could mean that the launch could happen on that day. Specific features of the upcoming TV remain unknown, but based on the teasers, it could focus on delivering a theater-like experience at home. This could imply features like 3D spatial audio, Dolby Atmos or Zero Bezels.

The teaser campaign will definitely generate a fair amount of excitement in India. The highly anticipated PlayStation 5 Slim (CFI-2000 model) carries a 54,990 INR price tag. This is for the base variant that includes a disc drive. On the other hand, the PS5 Slim Digital Edition is a cheaper variant that costs just 44,990 INR. Both versions will be officially available for purchase starting from 5th April 2024. The gaming console can be purchased from leading retailers across the country.

For those unaware, the Sony PS5 Slim is a thinner and more compact version of the standard PS5, which features a detachable disc drive. Overall, the Slim variant arrives with a 30 percent reduction in volume and up to 24 percent reduction in weight as well. But apart from just a refreshed design, the storage is also bumped up to 1TB with a second USB-C port in the front.

Despite the smaller form factor, the PS5 Slim doesn’t compromise on performance, offering similar hardware to match the base PS5. Interestingly, the Japanese tech giant’s latest console arrives in a sole White color option, but new variants could arrive in India soon. The PS5 Slim was introduced in three new colors earlier this year, namely Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, and Sterling Silver, as a part of the Deep Earth collection. So the Indian release could follow soon.

Sony is preparing to release a new truly wireless earbuds in India. A brand new teaser has hinted that the hearables in question could be the Sony Float Run, which are earbuds that were designed for athletes. So here’s everything we know.

Sony Float Run India launch teased

In a recent tweet, the Japanese tech giant shared a short video trailer that teased an upcoming earbuds. While the post on X (formerly Twitter) did not specifically mention the Float Run, the earbuds seen in the video teaser have a design that appears to be the Float Run. For those unaware, the brand unveiled the Float Run back in January 2023. Now, it appears that the Indian release is arriving a year after its first announcement. The tags on the tweet like “Move Without Limits” are also in line with the sporty earbuds’ key selling point.

To recall, the Float Run featured a unique design that had the earbuds sit outside the ear canal. These were held in place thanks to an ear hook along with a flexible band. Thanks to this off-ear design, Sony aimed to deliver the most comfortable experience to athletes during exercise. Unfortunately, this unique design has its own drawbacks with the most noticeable one being the lack of ANC (Active Noise Cancellation).

The Sony Float Run earbuds houses large 16mm audio drivers that promise to offer natural and wider sound. These weigh just 33 grams and are built to reduce any pressure during a workout session. Other notable features include IPX4 water resistance, SBC/AAC audio codes, Bluetooth 5.0, 10 hour battery life, and a USB Type C port for charging. The earbuds were announced for a price tag of 129.99 US Dollars, so we can expect a similar price range for the Indian launch.

Sony India has just launched a new product that aims to make gaming a lot more accessible. Earlier this month, the company unveiled the Access Controller for the PlayStation 5. Now, this device is making its way to the Indian market. So here are all the details.

Sony releases Access Controller for PS5 in India

The Japanese tech giant’s new Access Controller is built to help players with disabilities. It aims to make gaming more accessible, fulfilling the special needs for many. Looking at the new peripheral, the controller launched with a customizable analog stick, which you can also adjust via a slider. Furthermore, it comes with holes in the base tht allows you to fasten it to prevent accidental drops.

There is a bunch of customization as well, which includes 19 swappable button caps and three stick caps. To recall, Sony developed the Access Controller in collaboration with AbleGamers, which is a non-profit organization aimed at making accessibility more common in gaming. The Access Controller houses four 3.5mm ports that can be used to connect additional buttons like trigger switch and other compatible accessories. Since this controller only comes with one joystick, you can pair it with another Access Controller or a DualSense controller.

Pricing and Availability

Sony has launched the Access Controller for PS5 for a price tag of 7,700 INR (roughly 93 US Dollars). The device is available for purchase via Amazon India, GamesTheShop, and ShopAtSC. Although, it is currently listed for a discounted pricing of 7,052 INR. Similar to DualSense, the Access controller comes in two color options, namely White and Black.

Sony announced the Inzone series of gaming headsets for PC and PlayStations gamers, offering headphones across multiple price points. The company recently sent us the Inzone H5 for review which promises to offer some great features at a mid-range cost. 

The H5 is the latest headset that joins the existing H3, H7, and H9 models. It is wireless like the H7 and H9 and is quite capable for its sub-20,000 INR price tag. I have a lot to say about the Inzone H5, so let’s get right into it.

Note: My review comprises of my experience on a Windows PC.

Sony Inzone H5: Design

As per official notes, the Sony Inzone H5 headset weighs just 260 grams. The left earcup features a USB-Type C port for charging with an LED indicator as well as a flip up microphone (non-detachable) and a volume slider. Meanwhile, the right side has the power button and the Game/Chat mix button. I have used wired headphones for gaming primarily and the shift to this wireless has been a solid experience so far.

The H5 is light and comfortable on the head. This is thanks to its plastic body that has a minimalistic design. Although the body doesn’t feel premium, it is robust and doesn’t seem flimsy at all. It also comes with a matte finish and I reviewed the black color option (I highly recommend the White variant). Often I found myself getting up to get something, without taking off my headphones since they felt so seamless. I’d walk out of the room while on Discord, still talking to my friends as I grab a quick bite or get some water.

Going back to my wired headphones is going to be difficult since the H5 has spoiled me now. A thick and comfortable padding can be found on the headband while the earmuffs are made from a soft fabric material. I did not experience any kind of discomfort even after wearing these for hours on end. Gaming sessions can be long and I usually wear headphones for music while working, meaning this comfy design was highly appreciated. You can even adjust the headband to fit any head size and a quick tap on the power button tells you the remaining battery life.

Sound Quality & Gaming Experience

Being a gaming headset, the primary focus is on the gameplay experience. Sony is a veteran in the audio segment and their expertise is hinted at in uses outside of just video games. I will admit it’s not the best for audiophiles, but there’s decent and balanced bass with clear mids and trebles. Sony Inzone H5 features 40mm drivers with a frequency response ranging from 5Hz to 20kHz. Listening to music was surprisingly a pleasant experience but I recommend getting the Inzone Hub app.

If you’re looking to personalize the experience, this app lets you tweak the sound profile and I suggest you download it with any Inzone headphones. It offers a Flat, Bass Boost, and Music/Video presets along with a Spatial Sound toggle, Dynamic Range Control, and Microphone settings. This app isn’t required but does get you access to a bunch of key features of the headphones. With this out of the way, we can finally talk about gaming.

In tactical shooters like Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, this gaming headset came in clutch! Crisp sound paired with spatial audio support had me being accused of wallhacking. I could hear the sounds of enemy footsteps down a hallway with ease, getting a general idea of their location. Sound design in modern video games is a work of art but not all gaming headphones let you properly experience them.

This is where the Inzone H5 comes in. It had me return to some beloved franchises to relive the experience with better sound quality. The high dynamic range elevated the audio experience on titles like Metro Exodus, Hogwarts Legacy, Ready or Not, and many more.

Having the Game/Chat mix on the headset lets you quickly switch focus between the game or the voice chat when you’re playing multiplayer games and the ease of volume controls helps for quick audio level adjustments. Low latency is a must with wireless gaming headsets and I never faced any delays or lag between the audio and visuals during gameplay. 

Setting up the headphones was also a breeze with its plug-and-play experience letting you instantly jump into a game on any Windows laptop or desktop. Its wireless range is also commendable as I found myself doing random chores around the house or getting some fresh air while wearing these without any issues. 

Battery Life, Mic Quality, & Connectivity Options

Sony promises up to 28 hours of battery life on the Inzone H5 headset and I easily managed to get over a day’s worth of playback. Thankfully, the USB Type-C charger offers fast charging with just 10 minutes of charge enabling another 3 hours of playback. I couldn’t confirm this claim outright, although the quick charge was pretty handy.

The wireless headphones checks just about every box but there is always an Achilles heel. For the Inzone H5, the microphone is the only area that I felt could be improved. To be fair, the mic is decent and clear with AI noise suppression being a bonus. However, the audio quality is a bit lacking for this price. My voice appeared muffled at times and cheaper headphones in India have outclassed the microphone quality. 

For connectivity, you can connect the headphones to a 2.4GHz USB Type-A dongle that also has a slider that lets it connect to both PC and PS5/PS4. Unfortunately, Bluetooth connectivity is missing on the H5. It would’ve made the headset more versatile and we can only hope that its future generation ships with it. Users can connect it to the PC through a 3.5mm audio jack for the wired mode. 

Conclusion

To sum things up, Sony’s Inzone H5 is a great wireless headset for gamers. Its build quality ensures a light, seamless, and comfortable experience. Overall audio quality was decent and gaming with these was great. Bringing Bluetooth support and a better microphone could greatly improve the experience for future generations as well. 

The official Sony India website lists this model for 19,990 INR MRP, but it can be found on Amazon for around 15,000 INR. I can easily recommend this to gamers who are looking for a wireless headset. At this price range, it isn’t exactly affordable. However, the H5 is a great buy for the specs and features it brings. I already use a wireless gaming mouse and the Sony Inzone’s offering has me considering a wireless upgrade for headphones as well.

This video doesn’t reveal any finer details but offers us a slight glimpse at the new party speakers. Unfortunately, Sony has yet to reveal the exact model or name of the upcoming device but the teaser does showcase some of its design.

Looking at the video, the speaker appears to feature a trolley wheel. In other words, it is portable despite its size for a party speakers. Another notable aspect that can be observed is the lighting system and two of the tweeter units. Since the finer details are still unclear, we will likely have to wait for the company to share more details regarding the new speakers.

In the tweet, Sony said that “Are you ready to paint the town red? Someone is coming and they’re bringing the party home! These TVs are a part of the brand’s flagship grade models that promise to offer top-notch the most immersive and the best viewing experience.

Thanks to the Cognitive Processor XR chipset enables realistic picture quality, lifelike contrast, and other image enhancements like vivid colors. Sony has reportedly opened its first-ever Playstation store in India. This means that buyers can now get access to the brand’s consoles in the country. Until now, the Japanese brand had been selling its consoles via various online and offline retailers meaning that customers had to rely on Amazon, Flipkart, Reliance Digital, and more. The news about Sony’s first PS store in India has been shared by industry insider Rishi Alwani. 

The first dedicated Sony Playstation store in India is opened in Delhi. It seems like the Japanese brand has partnered with a third-party retailer called DT Zone. Alwani shared images of the currently up-and-running store in Punjabi Bagh, Delhi. 

The newly opened offline store looks like a one-stop shop for Playstation customers. This means that customers can expect to get access to the PS consoles, Dual Sense gaming controllers, headsets, as well as some game titles directly from the store. Customers might also have the option to purchase a PlayStation membership from the offline store as there is an image highlighting membership plans. However, it’s worth noting that there is no official word on this. 

The exclusive PlayStation store in India is great news to fans as they won’t have to rely on third-party retailers. Additionally, Sony recently slashed the prices of the PlayStation 5 (both standard and digital edition) by Rs 5,000 for a limited period. The expiry date of the discounted price is unknown, but the standard variant can be availed at Rs 49,990 while the digital edition costs Rs 39,990.

Sony ZV-1F also offers features like Soft Skin Effect, Face Priority AE, Eye AF for humans and animals, ensuring optimal brightness, clear skin tone, and precise autofocus as well. The new vlog camera has been launched in India for a price tag of 50,690 INR and it will be available across all Sony Centers, Alpha Flagship stores, Sony authorized dealers, Flipkart, Amazon, and other major electronic stores across India starting from 6th April 2023.

Sony has just increased the price of its PlayStation 5. This is the first time the Japanese brand is hiking the price of the console since its launch back in 2020. The development is bad news for those planning to purchase the console. The revised pricing of the PlayStation 5 has been updated on Sony’s ShopAtSC website. 

Sony had previously hiked the price of the PlayStation 5 in other markets. Hence, it was just a matter of time before the console became expensive in India as well. Notably, Sony’s competitor Microsoft also increased the prices of the Xbox Series X and S for the third time in the country along with some controllers and accessories. During the price hike of the PS5 in other markets excluding India, Sony cited high global inflation, currency fluctuations, and economic slowdown as the main reasons. 

Sony has raised the prices of both the PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition. Both have become expensive by Rs 4,000. The PS5 was available for Rs 49,990 and is now priced at Rs 54,990 which is a 10 percent increase above its original price. The Digital Edition costs Rs 44,990, up 12.5 percent from Rs 39,990. Fortunately, the prices of PS5 accessories like DualSense controller, Pulse 3D headphones, DualSense Charging Station, and HD camera remain the same.

The only difference between the PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition is that the former comes with a 4K Blu-ray disk slot. Both consoles are powered by an octa-core AMD CPU paired with 16GB GDDR6 RAM and 1TB SSD.

There is a precise voice pickup technology for clear on-call quality. The earbuds offer 360 Realty audio and adaptive volume control. They also pack a speak-to-chat feature that automatically pauses music when the user is talking to someone. 

The Sony LinkBuds support Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. They come with Fast Pair and Quick access to Spotify. The audio device features Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity. The TWS earphones come with a small and compact charging and storage case. They are claimed to offer 5.5 hours of playback on a full charge and 12 hours with the case.

The Sony LinkBuds carry a price tag of Rs 19,990 but customers who pre-book can get the TWS earphones at a discounted price of Rs 12,990 from August 4th till August 12th. The audio device is offered in White and Black colours and can be purchased from Sony retail stores as well as leading offline and online channels across the country from August 13th.

Sony has just restocked its latest generation of PlayStation game console in India. The PlayStation 5 is likely available in limited quantities and its pre-orders are currently live in th region.

The Japanese tech giant recently announced that the PS5 will be restocked in India. Now, the pre-orders are live for the base PS5 model as well as the PS5 Digital Edition and a PS5 Bundle option. For those unaware, the company has struggled to keep a readily available inventory for its newest generation of gaming console. Supply constraints and chip shortages caused the availability to be scarce across the globe, with scalpers making this issue worse.

But now, the latest restocking now brings the PS5 Digital Edition that is priced at 39,990 INR (roughly 512 US Dollars), meanwhile the base PS5 model costs 49,990 INR (roughly 640 US Dollars), and the PS5 + Gran Turismo 7 bundle costs 54,990 INR (roughly 704 US Dollars). As of right now, the PS5 is available via multiple retailers online. This includes the likes of Amazon , ShopAtSC , Croma, Vijay Sales, Games The Shop, Reliance Digital, and Flipkart.

Sony’s PlayStation 5(PS5) officially went on sale on November 12 in countries like the US, Japan. In fact, retailers are stocking the units in more numbers due to a surge in demand in markets like Europe. However, the next-gen console is yet to officially go on sale in India. Ahead of this, people have started buying the imported units through unauthorized channels. And Sony India thinks it isn’t a good idea.

As reported by MensXP(via Gadgets360), a Sony PlayStation India representative has responded to the request regarding the warranty policies of imported units. He suggests customers to check for the Sony India Warranty Card while purchasing PlayStation products within India. Precisely, the company allows users to claim warranty benefits for Sony India products that are certified by BIS and have a valid Indian Warranty Card.

This suggests that the imported ones won’t be eligible for a warranty inside the country. This is because as quoted by the representative, the Indian retail units that come with a local warranty card are certified by BIS. However, the imported ones aren’t and this negates the policy of Sony PlayStation India. Hence, this sends a clear message to people who are buying non-Indian units as high as ₹90,000 without a warranty.

Plus, this is a no-brainer as Sony has been following this for earlier generations(PS4) as well. In any case, it is highly advisable to buy Sony PlayStation products from India with the official Indian Warranty card. However, as Sony is trying its best to fulfill the user’s demand, decisions like these will only harm the users as they are left out to dry in case of any issue.

Anyway, it’s already been one month since the prices for India were announced but PlayStation 5 hasn’t got an official release date yet. But according to the report, it will be available on official retailers like Amazon, Flipkart, Croma, Reliance Digital, ShopatSC.com, and Games The Shop. Besides, the next-gen console comes with a revamped white and black design, upgraded performance, storage(SSD), and a DualSense Controller.
