Sony recently announced that it would be launching two new Truly Wireless headphones for the Indian market. What made the announcement special is that the earbuds will be the first TWS headphones that Sony would be launching in India. Indeed, the Japanese tech giant has launched the WF-SP800N and WF-XB700 TWS headphones.

Sony’s headphones may not have the coolest of names but what they ack in an attractive name is usually made up for in the specs table. The WF-XB700 features 12mm drivers and Sony’s EXTRA BASS technology that creates precise, punchy bass rhythms while maintaining vocal clarity, perfect for those who love the EDM or Hip-hop genre.

The headphone comes with an ergonomic Tri-hold structure designed to provide for a comfortable fit. The WF-SP800N also comes with Sony’s proprietary EXTRA BASS for a deep, punchy sound. The headphones also offer long battery life and stable Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity.

The earbuds have soft-cushioned arc supporter and three-dimensional curved design that ensure a secure, comfortable fit. It equally features an intuitive touch control settings to play, stop, or skip through tracks and adjust the volume. You can also customise the settings to your preferences using the Sony Headphones Connect app. The battery can last up to 18 hours without noise-cancelling function turned on and with the charging box, Sony says that can be extended up to 26 hours on a single charge. With noise-cancelling, it bests 9 hours and 13 hours with the charging box. These estimates will be dependent on the volume level.

Sony is known for its lineup of TWS earbuds which have pretty great quality, but one infamous feature they have is their names which are not as simple as that of other brands. Where other brands go for simple names, Sony goes for names that are akin to model numbers and this applies to its latest earbuds which are marketed as the Sony WF-SP800N.

The Sony WF-SP800N are TWS earbuds with noise-canceling designed especially for sports. The earbuds have arc support for a comfortable fit, a recessed design on the outside, and an IP55 rating, which means they are resistant to sweat and splashes. The earbuds come in blue, black, and orange.

Sony says the WF-SP800N uses digital noise-canceling technology to reduce ambient noise when in the gym or your environment in general. There is also a feature called Quick Attention that allows you to temporarily reduce the volume of what you are listening to by holding down on one of the earbuds so you can hear background noise. The earbuds also have an adaptive sound control that automatically detects what you are up to and adjusts ambient sound settings. There is also an app, available for iOS and Android, that allows you to customize noise canceling and adjust equalizer settings.

The Sony WF-SP800N has touch controls for answering calls, calling up the Google Assistant, and controlling playback. Sony says it also has Extra Bass. Battery life is 9 hours with noise-canceling on and 13 hours with noise-canceling off. With the case, battery life goes up to 18 hours and 26 hours respectively. There is also support for quick charge that provides 60 minutes of playback time after just 10 minutes of charging.

Sony ships the earbuds with three pairs of silicone tips of different sizes, a pair of arc supports, and a USB Type-C cable for charging. It is priced at $199.99 and available for purchase on Amazon and from Sony’s website.
