A bunch of Sony smartphones, including the Xperia 5 IV, Xperia 1 III, Xperia 5 III, and Xperia Pro-I, received the Android 13 update last month. In the latest development, the Japanese company is rolling out the new software update to the Xperia 10 IV, which debuted in June 2022. The release is currently limited to Southeast Asia but should extend to other regions pretty soon. Here are the details.

The Android 13 update for the mid-range device Xperia 10 IV is being released with the build number 65.1.A.4.8. It is currently rolling out for the dual-SIM variant of the smartphone with model number XQ-CC72 in Southeast Asia. The update brings all the new features that big G introduced with the latest version of Android, along with the Android security patches for December 2022.

Android 13 comes with many visual changes, offering more theme, color, and icon customization options. It updates digital well-being and security features. The new update gives users the ability to set different languages for different apps and manage app permissions more effectively.

To recall, Sony Xperia 10 IV debuted as a mid-range smartphone with a 6-inch OLED display that offers a 1080 x 2520-pixel resolution. It packs a Snapdragon 695 SoC under the hood with 6GB of RAM and 128GB onboard storage.

There’s a triple rear camera setup on the back, comprising a 12MP main sensor, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and an 8MP telephoto sensor. On the front, there’s an 8MP selfie camera. The Sony smartphone draws power from a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 21W fast charging.

While the design of the device remains the same as its predecessor, it does come with improved internals.

The newly launched smartphone is being touted as the world’s lightest 5G smartphone available in the market. The phone, priced at €499, will go on sale from next month in four color options — Black, White, Mint, and Lavender.

In the camera department, the smartphone features a 12-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and an 8-megapixel 2x telephoto lens. It comes with features like tweaked Superior Auto mode, Auto HDR, a dedicated Night mode, and more. On the front side, there’s an 8-megapixel snapper for taking selfies and video calling.

Other features on the device include a 3.5mm headphone jack, LDAC support, 360 Audio, and a 360 Reality Audio Upmix to transform stereo into surround sound. The phone is also IP68 rated to make it water and dust-resistant.

It runs the latest Android 12 operating system out-of-the-box with the company’s own custom user interface on top. The phone is powered by a 5,000mAh battery and comes with 30W fast charging. Similar to several devices launched recently, this one too doesn’t come with a charger in the box.

The smartphone has a tall display at the front and a triple camera setup at the rear. This display is said to be a 6.0-inch OLED AMOLED display. It isn’t a full-screen panel and the bezels are visible. Unlike the Xperia 10 III, it will be a flat panel. The phone will have the following dimensions – 153.3 x 67.3 x 8.4mm. The device’s thickness will measure at roughly 9.0mm including the rear camera bump.

Speaking of the cameras, the Xperia 10 IV will have a vertical camera system, sporting three lenses. Unfortunately, the megapixel numbers aren’t revealed. At the top of the cameras, there’s the LED flash.
