The device features the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Snapdragon-888/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Snapdragon 888</a> SoC and comes with an impressive triple camera setup. Now, rumors are afloat that Sony is working on the next device in the Xperia 5 lineup dubbed the Xperia 5 IV, which will be a compact phone packing a mighty punch.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-444839" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Sony-Xperia-5-Mark-4-specs-weibo.png?x44794" alt="Sony Xperia 5 Mark 4" width="747" height="329" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Sony-Xperia-5-Mark-4-specs-weibo.png 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Sony-Xperia-5-Mark-4-specs-weibo-300x132.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Sony-Xperia-5-Mark-4-specs-weibo-696x307.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 747px) 100vw, 747px" /></p>
<p>According to a Weibo tipster, the Sony Xperia 5 IV will come with a 6.1-inch display with Gorilla Glass Victus protection on the front and the back panel of the device. The main improvement Sony will offer in the device is said to be the upcoming <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Snapdragon-8-Gen-1-Plus/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus</a> chipset which will be based on TSMC&#8217;s 4nm node rather than Samsung&#8217;s 4nm node. The current Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC&#8217;s which are currently quite notorious for their thermal performance are based on Samsung&#8217;s 4nm node.</p>
<figure id="attachment_384164" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-384164" style="width: 594px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-384164 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Sony-Xperia-5-III-Black-Featured-02.jpg?x44794" alt="Sony Xperia 5 III Black Featured 02" width="594" height="396" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Sony-Xperia-5-III-Black-Featured-02.jpg 594w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Sony-Xperia-5-III-Black-Featured-02-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 594px) 100vw, 594px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-384164" class="wp-caption-text">Sony Xperia 5 III</figcaption></figure>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The battery is also said to get a slight bump in capacity compared to the Xperia 5 III, which houses a 4500mAh battery. So, we can expect a 4700mAh battery from the upcoming device.</p>
<p>Not much will change in the camera department according to the leaks. The phone will sport the same triple camera setup on the rear as its predecessor, comprising of an in-house 12MP primary camera sensor (IMX557) with OIS, a 12MP IMX363 sensor for the ultra-wide camera, and a 12MP telephoto camera with the IMX663 sensor, OIS, and 3x optical zoom capability.</p>
<p>The tipster has also hinted at a 5,000 yuan ($789) price tag, which is considerably cheaper than the Sony Xperia 5 III which launched in China at 6,599 yuan ($1,041). All this information, however, remains unsubstantiated, so we advise our readers to take it with a pinch of salt and stay tuned for more notable developments on the matter.</p>
