That means the device is just 9 months in the market, not even up to one year but its price has seen a sharp drop and is presently sold for $369 on <a href="https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074P5FMGC?&amp;_encoding=UTF8&amp;tag=ikobajay-20&amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;linkId=71599b21e6bb9c2053e47c417e122646&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Amazon</a> and <a href="https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sony-xperia-xz1-compact-4g-lte-with-32gb-memory-cell-phone-unlocked-black/6045200.p?skuId=6045200" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Best Buy</a>. The present price is a massive $130 off the original price of the compact flagship that is if we assume it retails for $500. Both retailers list the original price as $600 which means it gets $230 off its price! <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Sony-Xperia-XZ1-Compact-price-cut-2.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-191357" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Sony-Xperia-XZ1-Compact-price-cut-2.png?x44794" alt="" width="747" height="508" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Sony-Xperia-XZ1-Compact-price-cut-2.png 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Sony-Xperia-XZ1-Compact-price-cut-2-300x204.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 747px) 100vw, 747px" /></a></p>
<p>The Xperia XZ1 Compact comes with a smaller 4.6-inch display with HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The device prides itself in having a flagship-level hardware crammed inside the compact chassis. Thus, the device is targeted at consumers who aren&#8217;t particularly attracted by phablet-sized models with big displays. So, if you are particularly interested in smaller, powerful smartphones, then you should check out the Xperia XZ1 Compact&#8217;s discount offer while it lasts. There is no indication if it is a time-limited offer, though.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Xperia-XZ1-Compact-official-renders.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-146595" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Xperia-XZ1-Compact-official-renders-1024x537.png?x44794" alt="Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact" width="640" height="336" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Xperia-XZ1-Compact-official-renders-1024x537.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Xperia-XZ1-Compact-official-renders-300x157.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Xperia-XZ1-Compact-official-renders-768x403.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Xperia-XZ1-Compact-official-renders.png 1439w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></p>

Sony is showing a great software support for its device and it is among the first companies to provide an update against Spectre and Meltdown. The February security patch is not the only new thing brought to Sony Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact with this new update.</p>

The two Sony models come with a studded hardware lineup which places them in the league of true flagships.  The designs which have been in the open before now, are also top notch, with classic finishing. Sony made headlines when it announced the Xperia XZ Premium with a Snapdragon 835 SoC making it one of the first models to have such. The tech giant is also making the headlines with the disclosure that both the Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact would run on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.</p>

<h3 style="text-align: left"><strong>Design &amp; Specifications</strong></h3>
<p>The Sony Xperia XZ1 is the bigger model in terms of size, among the two and it utilizes a metal unibody and a new distinctive antenna design. It holds a thin body with a dimension of 147 x 73.4 x 7.4mm, weighing in at 155-gram and also IP65/68 certified. It sports a 5.2-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080pixels and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The display is still a TRILUMINOS, X-Reality unit, with HDR support and 138% sRGB coverage. The Xperia XZ1 is fired up by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor bringing along with it 4GB of RAM and there is 64GB of fast UFS 2.1 storage which is expandable via microSD.</p>
<figure id="attachment_147375" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-147375" style="width: 800px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Sony-Xperia-XZ1-3.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-147375 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Sony-Xperia-XZ1-3.jpg?x44794" alt="Sony Xperia XZ1" width="800" height="533" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Sony-Xperia-XZ1-3.jpg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Sony-Xperia-XZ1-3-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Sony-Xperia-XZ1-3-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-147375" class="wp-caption-text">Photo Credit- The Verge</figcaption></figure>
<p>Despite the proliferation of dual camera flagships, Sony still retained a single camera on both models. The Xperia XZ1 packs a 19MP rear sensor with Exmor RS, smile triggered predictive capture, autofocus and the ability to capture videos at 960fps. It also sports a 13MP, 1/3.06&#8243;, Exmor RS sensor with a 22mm wide angle, f/2.0 lens at the front for selfies. The device also features a side power button which also doubles as the fingerprint sensor. The device is available in four colors: Black, Warm Silver, Moonlit Blue and Venus Pink.</p>
<p>In addition, the Sony Xperia XZ1 possesses an LTE Cat. 16 band, Dual-Band, MIMO Wi-Fi a/c, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC and a USB 3.1 (Type-C) port. Keeping the lights on is a 2,700mAh battery with Qnovo Adaptive charging and Quick Charge 3.0.</p>
<figure id="attachment_147395" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-147395" style="width: 800px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Sony-Xperia-XZ1-compact.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-147395" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Sony-Xperia-XZ1-compact.jpg?x44794" alt="Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact" width="800" height="533" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Sony-Xperia-XZ1-compact.jpg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Sony-Xperia-XZ1-compact-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Sony-Xperia-XZ1-compact-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-147395" class="wp-caption-text">Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact. Photo Credit- The Verge</figcaption></figure>
<p>On the other hand, the Xperia XZ1 Compact features a compact design with a display size of just 4.6 inches with a reduced resolution of 720p (HD) without HDR support. The device comes with a dimension of 29 x 64 x 9.3 mm and weight of 140 gram. The design is similar to that of the bigger Xperia XZ1 and both model only seems to be separated in size. It features the same processor and RAM size as the XZ1 but has just 32GB of storage. Other similar features include the same 2,700mAh battery, side mounted fingerprint sensor and IP65/68 rating. However, the device doesn&#8217;t come with a metal body but instead features a body manufactured from glass fiber reinforced plastic compound. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/sony-xperia-xz1.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-147369" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/sony-xperia-xz1.jpg?x44794" alt="Sony Xperia XZ1" width="728" height="514" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/sony-xperia-xz1.jpg 728w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/sony-xperia-xz1-300x212.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/sony-xperia-xz1-255x180.jpg 255w" sizes="(max-width: 728px) 100vw, 728px" /></a></p>
<p>On the camera end, the Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact packs a 19MP rear camera just like its bigger sibling but has an 8MP 1/4&#8243; ExmorRS sensor, with a super wide-angle lens up front. It has an FOV of 120 degrees or 12.5mm equivalent for impressive group shots and also an 80-degree FOV (22mm) mode as well. It also comes with a Cat. 15 LTE band, USB 2.0 connection with a Type-C port, NFC, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0. The Xperia XZ1 Compact offers a different color array, coming in Black, Snow Silver, Horizon Blue and Twilight Pink.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/sony-xperia-xz1-3.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-147371" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/sony-xperia-xz1-3.jpg?x44794" alt="Sony Xperia XZ1" width="728" height="485" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/sony-xperia-xz1-3.jpg 728w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/sony-xperia-xz1-3-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 728px) 100vw, 728px" /></a></p>
<h3><strong>Pricing &amp; Availability</strong></h3>
<p>Sony is yet to disclose when both flagship models will be sold for as well as their availability. But there are whispers that both models will go on sale in September.</p>

<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/07/06/alleged-sony-xperia-xz1-compact-snapdragon-835-4-gb-ram-android-8-0-appears-antutu/">XZ1 Compact was seen on AnTuTu</a> shortly afterwards, powered by the Snapdragon 835 and running Android 8.0.0. Weeks later, the Xperia XZ1 appears on Geekbench.</p>
<p>The device was benchmarked on July 21 as the Sony G8341/SO-01K. The chip is listed as the msm8998 and there is 4GB of RAM. Unlike the Compact which has Android 8.0, this runs Android 7.1.1. Though rumor has it that both devices will launch with Android 8.0.</p>
<p>The Xperia XZ1 scores 1909 points in the single-core test and 6459 points in the multi-core test. This isn&#8217;t far off from the<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/07/19/alleged-lg-v30-geekbench-listing-found-official-launch-draws-near/"> scores of the LG V30</a> seen last week.</p>

<p>The only other details we know about the XZ1 are its screen size, resolution, and possible price. It is said to be 5.2-inches, has a 1080p resolution and will be priced at $860 (€760). The SO-01K is said to signify that this is the Japanese version.</p>
<p>Both the Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact are scheduled to be announced on August 31st at a pre-IFA Berlin event.</p>

Speculations are rife as to whether the Japanese tech company would launch a full-screen phone or not. But according to a report on Japanse media outfit <a href="http://sumahoinfo.com/xperia-xz1-so-01k-docomo-version-spotted-first-time-in-benchmark-score-s835-4gb-ram" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sumahinfo</a>, Sony will be launching not one, not two but three smartphones at IFA 2017. The report even went on to state the models as the Sony Xperia XZ1, XZ1 Compact and a yet to be identified Xperia model. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/sony.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-142578" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/sony.jpg?x44794" alt="Sony" width="600" height="347" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/sony.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/sony-300x174.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>The three Sony models have been spotted at FCC when they were certified and were listed with model numbers PY7-56331Y, PY7-81775I and PY7-68552B. In addition, a Sony model G8341/SO-01K recently appeared on benchmark platform Geekbench showing the model packing a Snapdragon 835 chipset with 4GB RAM and Android Nougat OS. This is believed to be one of the flagship models that would be launched.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/sony-geekbench.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-142579" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/sony-geekbench.jpg?x44794" alt="Sony Xperia" width="600" height="647" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/sony-geekbench.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/sony-geekbench-278x300.jpg 278w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>

<p>Before now, a Sony small screen flagship had leaked sporting a<strong> </strong>4.6-inch 1080p display and powered by a Snapdragon 835 chip which is complemented by a 4GB RAM. The device also comes with 64GB of storage as well as a 3,000mAh battery and Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS. This is likely the model that appeared on Geekbench and the other two may likely be similar models with slight modifications. So, what do you think about a 4.6-inch flagship? That would be a rare one but then, we expect this to come with Sony&#8217;s iconic design language which would be a strong selling point.</p>

<p>Barely five days after that launch event, a new leak has emerged of the specs of three Sony smartphones in the Xperia family. The smartphones go by the names Sony Xperia XZ1, Xpera XZ1 Compact and Xperia X1 adnd the three are said to be scheduled for release on September 1 at the 2017 IFA Berlin. Since Sony released the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/sony-xperia-xa1/">Xperia XA1 </a>and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/sony-xperia-xa1-ultra/">XA1 Ultra</a> at <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/02/27/sony-xperia-xz-premium-xperia-xzs-xperia-xa1-xa1-ultra-official-images-price-release-date/">MWC 2017</a>, the rumors may just have some credibility.</p>
<p>Specs wise, the Sony Xperia XZ1 is the top of the pack with  5.2-inch 1080p display and is powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor. The processor is backed by 4GB of RAM and there is a 3000mAh battery onbaord. On the other hand, the Xperia XZ1 Compact is listed with a compact build, sporting a 4.6-inch display with just an HD resolution (1280 x 720p). Surprisingl, the deviceis listed as packinga Snapdragon 835 chip as well as 4GB of RAm and a 2800 Mah battery. This doesn&#8217;t look like one device we&#8217;ll be meeting soon.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/sony-xperia-xz1-2.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-132381" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/sony-xperia-xz1-2.jpg?x44794" alt="Sony Xperia XZ1, XZ1 Compact, X1" width="518" height="598" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/sony-xperia-xz1-2.jpg 518w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/sony-xperia-xz1-2-260x300.jpg 260w" sizes="(max-width: 518px) 100vw, 518px" /></a></p>

<p>Finally, the third model dubbed Sony Xpera X1 has the listing of a mid-ranger, with a Snapdragon 660 chipset onboard. The Xperia X1 is also listed with a 5-inch Full HD display as well as a 4GB RAM and 2800mAh battery. All three models are said to use Sony&#8217;s new generation of camera technology.</p>
