The newly unveiled speakers are dubbed the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei-sound-x/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Sound X</a> and will rival <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-homepod/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Apple&#8217;s HomePods</a>.</p>
<h4>Sound X</h4>
<p>Huawei co-engineered the Sound X speakers with a French audio firm named Devialet. The latter is well known for its innovative and high end speaker systems. Thus, the Sound X arrives with a few of the features and technology behind Devialet&#8217;s other products. The Huawei Sound X has been designed with a 60W dual woofer system, which utilizes Devialet&#8217;s signature &#8220;Push-Push&#8221; technology that is capable of canceling out vibrations, while still offering powerful bass when music is being played.</p>
<figure id="attachment_306890" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-306890" style="width: 1600px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-306890 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/dims.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei" width="1600" height="916" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/dims.jpg 1600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/dims-300x172.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/dims-768x440.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/dims-1024x586.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/dims-696x398.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/dims-1068x611.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/dims-734x420.jpg 734w" sizes="(max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-306890" class="wp-caption-text">Huawei Sound X</figcaption></figure>
<p>Interestingly, Huawei has claimed that one can put a glass of water on top of the speakers and will remain perfectly still, even if you can see the woofers vibrate when music is being played. However, if at all it is possible remains to be actually seen, but buyers are advised against trying it out. The mesh grille surrounds the sides of the Sound X speakers are are &#8220;stain and splash resistant&#8221; according to official notes, although an official IPX rating has not been confirmed by Huawei.</p>

<h4>Design</h4>
<p>In terms of design, the Huawei Sound X resembles the Apple HomePod to a certain degree. It features a colorful LED display at the top and has a black circular/ovoid body with that is covered by the wraparound speaker grille. Furthermore, one can connect to the speaker with NFC OneHop audio sharing, which allows for pairing with a smartphone in just a single touch. Similarly, another notable feature is the gesture controls, enabling muting of the speaker by just holding your hand on top of the Sound X.</p>
<figure id="attachment_306891" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-306891" style="width: 694px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-306891 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Sound-X-Smart-Speaker.png?x10805" alt="Huawei" width="694" height="339" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Sound-X-Smart-Speaker.png 694w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Sound-X-Smart-Speaker-300x147.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Sound-X-Smart-Speaker-533x261.png 533w" sizes="(max-width: 694px) 100vw, 694px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-306891" class="wp-caption-text">Huawei Sound X features Devialet&#8217;s 60W dual woofers system</figcaption></figure>
<p>Huawei has stated that the new smart speaker is capable of delivering audio at 360 degree plane, meaning it delivers sound in every angle and is capable of adjusting the profile according to the position where it is placed. In other words, it can fine tune audio based on whether it is situated in the middle of the room or up against a wall and with a frequency range of up to 40kHz.</p>

The new audio product was co-developed with Devialet, a French-audio company.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-291225" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Huawei-Sound-X-featured-main.png?x10805" alt="Huawei Sound X featured" width="875" height="564" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Huawei-Sound-X-featured-main.png 875w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Huawei-Sound-X-featured-main-300x193.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Huawei-Sound-X-featured-main-768x495.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Huawei-Sound-X-featured-main-696x449.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Huawei-Sound-X-featured-main-652x420.png 652w" sizes="(max-width: 875px) 100vw, 875px" /></p>
<p><strong>Sound X Design</strong></p>
<p>The Sound X has a cylindrical design which is the best if you are aiming for 360° surround sound. It has a two-tone finish &#8211; glazed upper half and a mesh bottom. There is a cut-out on the body of the speaker for the subwoofer.</p>
<p>The top is where the capacitive controls are and there is a cool rainbow light effect when the speaker is on or the AI voice assistant is active.</p>
<p><strong>Features</strong></p>
<p>The Huawei Sound X Smart Speaker has two 3.5&#8221; subwoofers (60W in total) and uses SAM bass enhancement technology. Huawei says this is the first smart speaker with a Hi-Res certification. The bass can dive to an ultralow frequency of 40Hz, allowing you to feel the bass effect with your entire body.</p>
<p>The speaker has a sound intensity of 93 decibels. Even at such a high volume, sounds are not distorted and this is because the speaker uses Devialet&#8217;s Push-Push acoustic design. The Push-Push design has two symmetrical woofers installed in a confined space and cancels out noise generated at a high volume by using the back-wave thrust generated by each woofer.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-291256" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Sound-X-Smart-Speaker.png?x10805" alt="Sound X Smart Speaker" width="694" height="339" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Sound-X-Smart-Speaker.png 694w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Sound-X-Smart-Speaker-300x147.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Sound-X-Smart-Speaker-533x261.png 533w" sizes="(max-width: 694px) 100vw, 694px" /></p>
<p>There are six evenly distributed 1.5&#8221; 8W mid-range speakers alongside the subwoofers and they are tuned using Huawei&#8217;s Histen sound algorithm. The Sound X also has spatial awareness, so it adjusts sound output depending on where it is placed. There are six microphones placed around the speaker that can pick up your voice from up to 5 meters away. The combination of the 1.5GHz MediaTek MT8518 quad-core processor and anti-interference signal processing technology ensures that your commands are picked up even in a noisy environment.</p>
<p>Playing music from your phone is super easy. The speaker has NFC and if your phone also has NFC, all you have to do is touch it against the NFC icon on the speaker. The Sound X smart speaker can also be paired with another unit for a dual-speaker stereo mode. All you have to do is double-tap the multifunction button to quickly enter into stereo mode.</p>
<figure id="attachment_291257" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-291257" style="width: 2560px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-291257" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/huawei-sound-X-stereo.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="2560" height="1441" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/huawei-sound-X-stereo.jpg 2560w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/huawei-sound-X-stereo-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/huawei-sound-X-stereo-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/huawei-sound-X-stereo-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/huawei-sound-X-stereo-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/huawei-sound-X-stereo-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/huawei-sound-X-stereo-746x420.jpg 746w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/huawei-sound-X-stereo-1920x1081.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2560px) 100vw, 2560px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-291257" class="wp-caption-text">Dual-Speaker Stereo Mode</figcaption></figure>
<p>Of course, this is a smart speaker, so it is only right that you can use it to control compatible smart home products. Huawei&#8217;s HiLink technology works with products from Midea, Gree, TCL, Haier, Skyworth, Bosch, Siemens and more.</p>
<p>The Sound X weighs 3.5 kilograms, has a diameter of 165 millimeters and stands at 203 millimeters tall. It has 512MB of RAM and 8GB of storage. It supports dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and has a power rating of 24V 2.7A.</p>

We knew about this upcoming smart speaker and its basic design, thanks to an earlier leak. However, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei">Huawei</a> confirms that the Sound X is co-engineered with Devialet, and that&#8217;s a big deal.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/sound-X-huawei.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-290411" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/sound-X-huawei.jpg?x10805" alt="sound X huawei" width="440" height="782" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/sound-X-huawei.jpg 440w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/sound-X-huawei-169x300.jpg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/sound-X-huawei-236x420.jpg 236w" sizes="(max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px" /></a></p>
<p>Devialet is a premium French high-end Hi-Fi audio equipment brand and its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/devialet">Devialet</a> Phantom range of speakers, especially the Silver Phantom and Phantom Gold, has received extremely rave reviews for its sound quality and volume. So Huawei&#8217;s partnership with Devialet for its new smart speakers makes things a lot more exciting. It could be as significant as <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/leica">Leica</a> was for its smartphone cameras.</p>
<p>Previously, a leaked manual revealed that the Sound X will be powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor featuring 512MB of RAM and 8GB of storage. There will be two 60W subwoofers and six 1.5W tweeters for a 360° 5.1 home theater surround sound experience. The Sound X connects via Bluetooth 5.0 to your phone and supports 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi networks.</p>

<p>The Sound X is a smart speaker. So you can control your lights, robot vacuum cleaner, and smart plugs using Huawei’s HiLink app. The speaker will reportedly come with six microphones that can pick up your voice from up to 5 meters away.</p>
