Chinese Spring Festival is drawing closer and as a result, many smartphone manufacturers have kickstarted their promotional sales during which period there is usually a huge reduction in prices. Meizu has joined the fray today, as the company has announced its New Year deals with a  reduction of up to 300 yuan and even 400 yuan in some cases, applicable to some of its smartphones.

From the announcement, Meizu smartphones which fall among the price reduction include; the Meizu MX6 which got a 200 yuan slash in its price, coming down to 1599 Yuan. The Meizu U10 also got 200 yuan off its price and is now available for just 799 yuan. The Meizu U20 wasn’t left out as it too got 200 yuan off its official price tag and is now up for grab for 899 yuan. The Meizu Metal which was released in 2015 also got a 300-yuan slash in its price, bringing down the price to 699 yuan.

In addition, the highest reduction in price was slammed on the Meizu Metal Gift Box version which had a 400 yuan reduction in its price. The device is also available now for 699 yuan. Considering the designs and initial rice tag of these smartphones, we’d say it is a fair and attractive reduction which should get many buyers interested.

Sales are currently on going and already some color variants of the Meizu smartphones on offer are out of stock.

Is it just me or are manufacturers taking updates more seriously now? In the last couple of weeks, we have seen a number of manufacturers roll out Nougat updates to their devices or announce a roll-out plan. Lenovo has joined the ranks and have announced a Nougat update for its ZUK  sub-brand.

The Android 7.0 update will come in form of a new version of their ZUI OS. The new ZUI  2.5 update is scheduled to roll out before the Spring Festival which falls on January 28.

ZUK is also keeping its promise of updating its first flagship, the ZUK Z1 to Android Nougat and will be the first Snapdragon 801 phone to get updated to the latest version of Android. The ZUK Z1 will only receive an open beta version of the update though, and it will be available before the Spring Festival too.

This news will definitely increase the sales of the ZUK Z2 Pro which already has a price cut and is one of the cheapest SD 820 hones in the market as at this moment. We are however surprised that the ZUK Z2 was not mentioned.
