<p>Google&#8217;s cloud game streaming service called <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/stadia">Stadia</a> is shutting down today, but before that, the company is allowing users to use the wireless stadia controller as a Bluetooth controller that can be connected to other devices.</p>

<p>Converting a Stadia controller into a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/bluetooth">Bluetooth</a> controller is a manual process and won&#8217;t happen automatically for the users. Also, it&#8217;s an irreversible process, which means once it&#8217;s converted to a Bluetooth controller, you cannot go back.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Google-Stadia-Controller-1024x576.jpeg?x10805" alt="Google Stadia Controller" class="wp-image-509212" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Google-Stadia-Controller-1024x576.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Google-Stadia-Controller-300x169.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Google-Stadia-Controller-768x432.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Google-Stadia-Controller-1536x864.jpeg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Google-Stadia-Controller-696x392.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Google-Stadia-Controller-1068x601.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Google-Stadia-Controller-747x420.jpeg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Google-Stadia-Controller.jpeg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The company has also revealed that the last date for users to make the switch for the controller is 31st December 2023. After that date, any unconverted Stadia controller will work as a wired gamepad but won&#8217;t get <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/wireless">wireless connectivity</a> support.</p>

<p>After the device has been enabled with Bluetooth mode, it can be connected to other devices by pressing the Y and Stadia buttons simultaneously for a couple of seconds. When the Stadia light flashes orange, it indicates that the controller is now in pairing mode. Once it&#8217;s paired with a device, it will auto-connect to the last paired device whenever turned on.</p>

<p>If you are an owner of a Stadia controller, then you can <a href="https://stadia.google.com/controller/">visit this web-based tool</a> to unlock Bluetooth on the device. The process is quick, simple, and easy to follow. Make sure that the device is charged at least 10 percent before you attempt to start the process and is connected to the computer using the USB port.</p>

<p>A few months ago, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/google">Google</a> announced that it would shut down the Stadia cloud gaming service, and then the company refunded all the game and hardware transactions starting November 2022. Some game studios also started offering free PC copies of the games purchased through Stadia.</p>

<p>With the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/09/30/google-stadia-gaming-platform-shutting-down/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Google Stadia service set to shut down on January 18</a>, 2023, many gamers have been wondering what will happen to the Stadia controller. The controller is designed to work with the Stadia cloud service, which has many questioning its future usefulness. However, Google recently Announced that it will release a self-service tool that will allow customers to enable Bluetooth on their Stadia controllers.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper">
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-width="550" data-dnt="true"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">We&#39;ve also got Bluetooth news: next week we&#39;ll be releasing a self-serve tool to enable Bluetooth connections on your Stadia Controller. <br><br>We&#39;ll share details here on release. <a href="https://t.co/6vYomngfmA">pic.twitter.com/6vYomngfmA</a></p>&mdash; Stadia <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/13.1.0/72x72/2601.png" alt="☁" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/13.1.0/72x72/1f3ae.png" alt="🎮" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> (@GoogleStadia) <a href="https://twitter.com/GoogleStadia/status/1613999717519605760?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">January 13, 2023</a></blockquote><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
</div></figure>

<p>This update will allow the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/google-stadia/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Stadia</a> controller to connect with other devices as a standard Bluetooth controller instead of just being tied to the Stadia service. This is a welcome development for Stadia customers, as it means they will be able to continue using the controller with other devices Device after service shutdown.</p>

<p>Alongside this update, Google also released the last game, Worm Game, for Stadia players before the end of service. The game has been used internally for years and by the team to test Stadia&#8217;s capabilities. While it&#8217;s a neat minimal title, it works as a unique Easter egg Players experience games used to test and build services.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/stadia-controller-bluetooth-support-1-1024x576.jpeg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-508706" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/stadia-controller-bluetooth-support-1-1024x576.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/stadia-controller-bluetooth-support-1-300x169.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/stadia-controller-bluetooth-support-1-768x432.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/stadia-controller-bluetooth-support-1-696x392.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/stadia-controller-bluetooth-support-1-1068x601.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/stadia-controller-bluetooth-support-1-747x420.jpeg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/stadia-controller-bluetooth-support-1.jpeg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Overall, while the shutdown of the service is certainly disappointing, the ability to use the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/google-stadia/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Stadia controller</a> via Bluetooth is a positive development, allowing gamers to continue using the controller with other devices. Also, Worm Game&#8217;s release as a final farewell is a nice touch The touch adds to the nostalgia for the end of service.</p>

<p>Back in September, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/google/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Google </a>had officially announced that it is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/09/30/google-stadia-gaming-platform-shutting-down/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">ending its support for the Stadia </a>platform. The cloud gaming technology had faced many challenges and issues, and now, the company is gearing up to offer refunds to its buyers.</p>

<p>The Search Engine giant had stated on September 30 that it will be ending Stadia and will even be reimbursing all Stadia users who purchased games or hardware from Google. The company said that Stadia hardware purchases made from the company&#8217;s Store as well as any Stadia Store games or add on content bought will be eligible for the refunds. So one can expect that the brand is spending a lot of money to reimburse a lot of money.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Stadia-Final-Google-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="Google" class="wp-image-499180" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Stadia-Final-Google-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Stadia-Final-Google-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Stadia-Final-Google-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Stadia-Final-Google-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Stadia-Final-Google-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Stadia-Final-Google-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Stadia-Final-Google.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>For those unaware, the company began offering software refunds at the beginning of last month and now it appears that Google will now settle up on the hardware side as well. The brand will initiate the refunds by sending out emails to its customers informing them that the refunds will be issued in the next couple of weeks. The users who purchased their hardware directly from official company store will get their money back first within the next two weeks.</p>

<p>As of right now, the company is offering refunds on the Founders Edition, Premiere Edition, Play and watch Google TV packages, and even the Stadia controllers as well. The Stadia users will be be able to continue playing on the platform until the date of 18th of January 2023, which is when the platform will be officially shut down.</p>

The service, which was launched in 2019, will be shutting down in the coming months, on 18th January 2023 to be precise.</p>
<p>The announcement comes at a time when the company is looking to cut costs. One of the reasons behind this decision is believed to be the lack of traction with the users than what the company had expected.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-257756 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Stadia-featured.jpg?x10805" alt="Google Stadia Game Streaming Service" width="720" height="420" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Stadia-featured.jpg 720w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Stadia-featured-300x175.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Stadia-featured-696x406.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" /></p>
<p>In a <a href="https://blog.google/products/stadia/message-on-stadia-streaming-strategy/">blog post</a> making the announcement, Phil Harrison, Vice President at Google, said, &#8220;We’ve made the difficult decision to begin winding down our Stadia streaming service.&#8221; It was launched as an opportunity to put Google&#8217;s cloud streaming technology to work and enable gameplay at a massive scale.</p>
<p>The company says that it will refund all Stadia hardware purchases made through the Google Store and all <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/game">game</a> and add-on content purchases at the Stadia store. The majority of the refunds will be processed by mid-January, and the players will have access to their games library to play till 18th January.</p>
<p>Google adds that it will continue supporting gaming in other areas, along with helping developers build and distribute games on Google Play and Play Games. The technology developed for Stadia may end up being used in other <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/google">Google</a> services.</p>
<p>The Stadia game streaming service was announced to compete against o<span style="font-family: Verdana, BlinkMacSystemFont, -apple-system, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Open Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif">ther gaming services, including </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/sony">Sony</a>’s<span style="font-family: Verdana, BlinkMacSystemFont, -apple-system, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Open Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif"> PlayStation Plus cloud streaming, </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/03/02/amazon-luna-cloud-gaming-service-launched/">Amazon’s Luna</a><span style="font-family: Verdana, BlinkMacSystemFont, -apple-system, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Open Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif">, and </span>Microsoft’s<span style="font-family: Verdana, BlinkMacSystemFont, -apple-system, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Open Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif"><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xbox"> Xbox</a> Cloud Gaming.</span></p>
<p>Google CEO Sundar Pichai recently announced that he wants the company to be 20 percent more efficient, and as a part of that, the Mountain View-based giant has been shutting down products. Recently, it was announced that the upcoming <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/09/13/google-pixelbook-cancelled-team-working-on-it-dissolved/">Pixel laptop has been canceled</a>, and funding for Area-120 in-house incubator has been cut.</p>

<p>The news arrives from Bryant Chappel of <em>The Nerf Report, </em>who shared the information on Twitter. Apparently, users will soon be able to launch a game on Stadia directly from the search results. Furthermore, this feature will also support Xbox Cloud Gaming, NVIDIA GeForce Now, and Amazon Luna as well. For those enrolled in the test, simply searching for a game on one of those platform will offer a Play button in the information panel.</p>
<p>A good example of the games that will be offered via the search result is Destiny 2 and Halo Infinite. Clicking on the play button will either start up the game or take the users to a landing page on the different streaming platform. This feature is currently being tested with a <a href="https://9to5google.com/2022/08/11/google-search-games-streaming/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>9To5Google</em> </a>report noting that the search results can show if a game has timed trial on Stadia or if it is available for free as a part of its premium subscription.</p>

<p><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p>
<p>Video streaming services like Netflix have already had this feature where the content being searched for is just a single click away from the search results. So, it arrives as no surprise that Google also plans on bringing this function for its own cloud gaming service as well as other platforms.</p>

If you don&#8217;t have Google&#8217;s streaming stick, you can also experience the game streaming service “on officially supported <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/android-TV">Android TV</a> OS devices”.</p>
<p>Google had revealed earlier this month that it was going to bring the game streaming service to its the latest Chromecast device today, thus allowing owners to play on their TV. It has kept its promise as <a href="https://support.google.com/googletv/thread/114639886/stadia-now-available-on-google-tv?hl=en">the service is now available</a>.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-396127" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Stadia-on-Android-TV.jpg?x10805" alt="Stadia on Android TV" width="1666" height="937" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Stadia-on-Android-TV.jpg 1666w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Stadia-on-Android-TV-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Stadia-on-Android-TV-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Stadia-on-Android-TV-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Stadia-on-Android-TV-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Stadia-on-Android-TV-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Stadia-on-Android-TV-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1666px) 100vw, 1666px" /></p>
<p>However, while the service may now be available for you, you won&#8217;t be able to play unless you have the official Stadia Controller or a compatible third-party controller. Google has revealed that some supported controllers that work via Bluetooth and USB connectivity include the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/playstatio">PlayStation</a> DualShock 4, the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/xbox">Xbox</a> One Controller, and Xbox Adaptive Controller. The Xbox One Elite Controller and Xbox 360 Controller work only via USB. If you have a Bluetooth controller not listed, you can try it as it may also work. Unfortunately, you can&#8217;t use a keyboard and mouse to play.</p>
<p>The Stadia App is already listed on the Google Play Store. You can install it remotely from your PC or fire up the Play Store app on your TV to install it. You can also grab the APK from APKMirror.</p>

<p>Priced at $499, the ASUS Chromebook Flip CM5 has a 15.6-inch IPS 1080p touch screen with 250 nits of brightness and a 178° viewing angle. The screen can be bent backward, so you can use the device as a tablet or in tent mode and there is support for a USI stylus that has to be purchased separately. The ergolift hinge also lifts the keyboard for a more comfortable typing experience when in laptop mode.</p>
<p>The Ryzen 5 3500C processor is paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of PCIe M.2 SSD storage. There is also a 4GB RAM version with an <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/AMD">AMD</a> Ryzen 3 3250C processor and 64GB of eMMC storage. While those specs are not quite gaming specs, they will suffice if you are streaming games from platforms such as <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/stadia">Stadia</a> and GeForce Now, two services the device supports.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-394792" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/ASUS-Chromebook-Flip-CM5-gaming.jpg?x10805" alt="ASUS Chromebook Flip CM5 gaming" width="1234" height="732" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/ASUS-Chromebook-Flip-CM5-gaming.jpg 1234w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/ASUS-Chromebook-Flip-CM5-gaming-300x178.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/ASUS-Chromebook-Flip-CM5-gaming-768x456.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/ASUS-Chromebook-Flip-CM5-gaming-1024x607.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/ASUS-Chromebook-Flip-CM5-gaming-696x413.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/ASUS-Chromebook-Flip-CM5-gaming-1068x634.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/ASUS-Chromebook-Flip-CM5-gaming-708x420.jpg 708w" sizes="(max-width: 1234px) 100vw, 1234px" /></p>
<p>ASUS has added some gaming aesthetics such as giving the WASD keys, power button, and volume rocker an orange accent; including a Harman Kardon audio system, and a Wi-Fi stabilizer technology that filters out interference. The chiclet keyboard is backlit but there is no mention of it being RGB which would have been a nice addition.</p>
<p>The Chromebook has Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, an HD camera, and a battery life that goes up to 10 hours. For ports, you get 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port, 2x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports for display and power delivery, 1x HDMI 1.4 port, an audio jack, and a MicroSD card reader. The spec sheet also mentions that it has a Titan C Security Chip.</p>

<p>The laptop is already available in the US for $499.99 but that is for the 4GB RAM version with 64GB of storage.</p>

To everyone&#8217;s disappointment, that was not the case. More than eight months later, it has now been announced that the service is coming, not only to Google&#8217;s dongle but to a handful of <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/android-tv">Android TV</a> devices this month.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-241895" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Google-Stadia-all-screens.png?x10805" alt="Google Stadia" width="824" height="453" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Google-Stadia-all-screens.png 824w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Google-Stadia-all-screens-300x165.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Google-Stadia-all-screens-768x422.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 824px) 100vw, 824px" /></p>
<p>As reported by <em><a href="https://www.theverge.com/2021/6/7/22522416/google-stadia-chromecast-tv-nvidia-shield-android-devices-list-date">The Verge</a></em>, Stadia will arrive on the Chromecast with Google TV on June 23. There are also some Android TV devices such as the Nvidia Shield TV, Walmart&#8217;s Onn streaming devices, some Philips and <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/hisense">Hisense</a> TVs, and two Mi Box models. Below is the full list:</p>
<ul>
<li>Hisense Android Smart TVs (U7G, U8G, U9G)</li>
<li>Nvidia Shield TV and Nvidia Shield TV Pro</li>
<li><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/06/01/walmarts-onn-streaming-stick-is-the-mi-tv-sticks-more-affordable-competitor/">Onn. FHD Streaming Stick</a> and Onn. UHD Streaming Device</li>
<li>Philips 8215, 8505, and OLED 935 / 805 Series Android TVs</li>
<li>Xiaomi Mi Box 3 and Mi Box 4 (Mi Box S)</li>
</ul>
<p>It is surprising that the list is pretty short but according to the <a href="https://community.stadia.com/t5/Stadia-Community-Blog/Play-Stadia-on-Chromecast-with-Google-TV-and-other-Android-TV-OS/ba-p/62029">press release</a>, these are the devices that are officially supported. Owners of other devices can opt into experimental support to play, though there is a chance it may not as smoothly as on officially supported devices. To play, a Bluetooth controller or the official Stadia Controller is required.</p>
<p>Google Stadia is a game streaming service that allows users to play games instantly including AAA titles over an internet connection without the need for a console or a gaming PC and without needing to download the game. The service is already available on Android, PCs, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/16/google-stadia-is-now-available-for-ios-devices-in-beta/">iOS devices</a>.</p>

The solution these streaming services have adopted is to provide access via the web browser on these devices. The latest to do so is <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/google-stadia">Google Stadia</a> as they have finally brought their services to Apple devices more than a year after launching on other platforms.</p>
<p>The announcement was made today on Twitter by the official Stadia account. The tweet includes a short video teaching users how to access the service and it is pretty straightforward. Below are the steps:</p>
<ul>
<li>Launch your Safari iOS browser</li>
<li>Go to Stadia.com</li>
<li>Sign in with your Google account</li>
<li>Begin to play</li>
</ul>
<p>You can add a web app shortcut to the homescreen to make it easier to access as shown in the video.</p>

<p>Stadia on iOS works with the official Stadia Controller and also works with the DualShock 4 and Xbox One Controllers. All of these controllers connect to the iPhone or iPad via Bluetooth. If you don&#8217;t have a controller, you can enable the touch gamepad feature when you launch a game.</p>
<p>Google&#8217;s iOS launch comes shortly after <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/microsoft">Microsoft</a> announced that it will be<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/10/microsoft-confirms-xbox-cloud-gaming-is-coming-to-pcs-and-ios-next-year-more-countries-too/"> bringing its Xbox cloud gaming service to PCs and iOS next year</a>. However, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/google">Google</a> is not the first to do it, other game streaming services such as NVIDIA&#8217;s GeForce NOW  announced the service can now be accessed via the Safari browser back in November. Amazon&#8217;s Luna is also available via a web app for iPhones and iPads.</p>

Google has now announced that 8 new countries are getting it but they are all in Europe.</p>
<p>The one-year-old streaming service is now rolling out in Austria, Czech Republic Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, and Switzerland. When the cloud gaming service went live last year, it was available in just 14 countries. These new additions bring the total number of supported countries to 22.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-300574" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/google-stadia-connect.jpeg?x10805" alt="google stadia xtadia" width="1920" height="1080" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/google-stadia-connect.jpeg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/google-stadia-connect-300x169.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/google-stadia-connect-768x432.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/google-stadia-connect-1024x576.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/google-stadia-connect-696x392.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/google-stadia-connect-1068x601.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/google-stadia-connect-747x420.jpeg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /></p>
<p>The service will roll out in the next 24 hours in the aforementioned countries and once available, users will be able to sign up with their Gmail account and get ready to play on their computers and compatible phones and tablets. Free</p>
<p>New users get a free one-month subscription to Stadia Pro. The service costs $9.99 and games claimed by the user during the free trial remain theirs as long as they renew their subscription. <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/google">Google</a> also adds new free games every month. If you want more games or one that is not available for free, you can purchase from the store which has games such as Assassin&#8217;s Creed Valhalla and will also add the much-anticipated game, Cyberpunk 2077.</p>
<p>Stadia works by streaming games over the internet much like the way you stream a show or movie. It supports a range of resolutions based on your internet connection speed. Users can pair a compatible controller to their device of choice including PS4 and Xbox controllers or use a mouse and keyboard.</p>

Although, as hyped as the service was, the lack of many features and an unsteady launch had Stadia receive a lot of criticism. But, Google is still holding strong with constant updates and fixes and is adding more smartphones in its compatibility list, one of which is expected to be the Asus ROG Phone 3.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-306030 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Google-Stadia-supported-devices.jpg?x10805" alt="Google Stadia supported devices" width="680" height="383" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Google-Stadia-supported-devices.jpg 680w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Google-Stadia-supported-devices-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px" /></p>
<p>When Google had initially launched the Stadia platform, which was envisioned to be a cross electronic device service, it only supported the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/pixel/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Pixel</a> smartphones. However, since then the tech giant has<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/02/19/rog-phone-razer-phone-galaxy-s20-series-and-more-now-supported-by-google-stadia/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"> announced more compatible handsets</a>. One of the latest inclusions is with Asus&#8217; gaming smartphone, the ROG Phone 3. The Republic of Gaming device is dedicated to mobile gaming, so it makes sense that both Asus and Google are collaborating to preload the smartphone with Stadia.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>UP NEXT: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/02/20/samsung-galaxy-z-flip-launched-india/">Samsung Galaxy Z Flip foldable smartphone launched in India for ₹1,09,999 ($1,534)</a></strong></h6>
<p>While the online game streaming service from Google is paid, a free tier is expected to be launched within the next few months. The move alongside the growing smartphone compatibility list arrives to make the service better compete with its upcoming rivals. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/microsoft/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Microsoft</a> with its xCloud, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/sony/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Sony</a> with the PlayStation Now and the one that threatens Google the most, GeForce Now from <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/nvidia/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Nvidia</a>, which is officially out of beta.</p>

<p>With so many upcoming services, Google will have to make its online gaming platform a lot more accessible and bring in many game developers as well. Unfortunately, it is unknown when Asus ROG Phone 3 will launch, the gaming smartphone is expected to arrive before the end of 2020. Notably, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/09/23/asus-rog-phone-ii-india-launch/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">ROG Phone II</a> already supports Google&#8217;s Stadia, although it does not arrive with the service preloaded.</p>

<p>When Stadia launched last year, support was limited to just the Pixel phones save for the first-gen Pixel. Now, Google is adding more than ten new smartphones with most of them being Samsung devices. Below is the list of the new Stadia-compatible smartphones:</p>

<p>Other than smartphones, Stadia also works on laptops, desktops, and TVs connected to Chromecast Ultra. Google says Stadia will work on tablets but up until now, no tablet is supported. Not even the Galaxy Tab S6.</p>
<p>Last month, the Stadia Team announced that more features will be coming to Stadia this quarter but there was no mention of tablet support. Nevertheless, we hope that happens soon.</p>

Today, the tech giant announced Stadia, a cloud gaming service which is not only for gamers but also for those who like to watch others play and also those who build games.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-241896" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Google-Stadia.png?x10805" alt="Google Stadia" width="651" height="384" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Google-Stadia.png 651w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Google-Stadia-300x177.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 651px) 100vw, 651px" /></p>
<p>Stadia is a cloud gaming service that doesn&#8217;t require you to purchase new hardware. All you need is the hardware you already have such as tablets and phones (Pixel), Chromecast-enabled TV, or the Chrome browser on your PC (laptop or desktop). You also don&#8217;t need to download the game you wish to play.</p>
<p>At the event, Google demonstrated how Stadia works using a variety of devices including a desktop PC with basic specs. Not only did the games play seamlessly on all of these devices, but you can also start playing on one device and switch to another.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-241895" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Google-Stadia-all-screens.png?x10805" alt="Google Stadia" width="824" height="453" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Google-Stadia-all-screens.png 824w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Google-Stadia-all-screens-300x165.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Google-Stadia-all-screens-768x422.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 824px) 100vw, 824px" /></p>
<p>Stadia works with your existing controllers. It will even work with your keyboard or mouse. Or you could just purchase Google&#8217;s own Stadia Controller which doesn&#8217;t look very different from the controllers you are used to, though it does have some unique features of its own.</p>
<p>The Stadia Controller connects via Wi-Fi which should make switching from one device to the other easier. It has the usual XYAB action buttons, dual joysticks, D-pad, and shoulder buttons. It also has a Google Assistant button and a capture button that allows you live-stream your game to YouTube. The controller will come in three colors but Google didn&#8217;t reveal its price.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-241894" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Stadia-Controllers-b.png?x10805" alt="Stadia Controller" width="822" height="445" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Stadia-Controllers-b.png 822w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Stadia-Controllers-b-300x162.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Stadia-Controllers-b-768x416.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 822px) 100vw, 822px" /></p>
<p>You might be wondering how Stadia will be able to run the games on its platform. All the work is handled by Google&#8217;s data centers which pack a lot of power. Google shared the specs of the data centers and the GPU is much more powerful than that of the Xbox One X and the PS4 Pro. Stadia will be able to stream at 1080p and 4K at 60fps when it launches but in the future, it will also support streaming in 8K and at up to 120fps. It will also support cross-platform play.</p>
<p>Stadia isn&#8217;t just for gamers but also for game developers. There are tools available for developers that will make it easy for developers to bring their design styles to games made for the platform. All developers have to do is drop an image with the preferred style and a machine learning tool applies the style all through.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-241897" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Stadia-Data-center.png?x10805" alt="Stadia Data center" width="822" height="369" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Stadia-Data-center.png 822w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Stadia-Data-center-300x135.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Stadia-Data-center-768x345.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 822px) 100vw, 822px" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-241893" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Stadia-vs-existing-consoles.png?x10805" alt="Stadia vs existing consoles" width="820" height="374" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Stadia-vs-existing-consoles.png 820w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Stadia-vs-existing-consoles-300x137.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Stadia-vs-existing-consoles-768x350.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 820px) 100vw, 820px" /></p>
<p>There is also State Share for YouTube creators which allows them to share exact links to specifc parts of a game. Players will be able to call up the Google Assistant to get walkthroughs for games other players have completed. There is also a feature called Crowd Play which will let you play multiplayer games against your favorite content creators.</p>

<p>Google will create its own game studio which is called Stadia Games and Entertainment and will also partner with others to develop content for the platform. Stadia will launch later this year first in the US, and then Canada, UK, and Europe. More details will be revealed at Google I/O in May.</p>
