OPPO has been make a big cooperation with Steve Kondik, he is a CyanogenMod ROM creator, and now OPPO already release the new OPPO N1 camera-centric smartphone, that will be running a custom ROM from CyanogenMOD.

Cyanogen Inc. as a company took the opportunity almost immediately after seeing a friendly round of investment (of $7 million USD just this past month) to team up with OPPO, an up-and-coming hardware company in and of themselves – in a move that they hope will help them prove to a larger audience what they’re capable of in optimizing hardware on a brand-to-brand collaboration basis.

Despite the news together with the OPPO late last month, Kondik has said the two had been lifted for some time. In other words, this is not a response to this round of financing, Cyanogen just want to take this opportunity to prove himself.

In general release of OPPO N1, consumers will be able to install CyanogenMod, and received an update from Cyanogen, which will go through the proper preparation and testing. Software, the conventional version runs Color OS, and has a function to receive the product from the Cyanogen Recovery (Cyanogen signature key can handle).

Kondik said, “We had been talking to the guys at OPPO for quite some time. They’ve been really supportive of us and some of the ideas that we have, and they’ve been supporting of our community in general. And not just CyanogenMod – they’ve been supportive of a lot of the other ROMs as well in the future. We like them because they’re not afraid to try new things – and neither are we.”

Steve Kondik is the founder of CyanogenMod is a rock star in the Android community. Almost 2 years ago, Kondik officially joined with Samsung to help the Korean tech giant makes their Android products look ‘awesome’.

Now, after nearly two years of joining and the latest generation of Samsung Galaxy S lineup, Kondik decided to resign from Samsung. Kondik said that the experience of working with Samsung is very nice, but she felt that now it was time to try the new things.

Kondik also did not forget to convey the impression to the Galaxy S4:

“I was playing around with the Samsung Galaxy S4 before leaving. I am a big fan of the S3 and I use it every day, so I’m pretty happy with what is presented in the S4. Although no major design overhaul, but the device feels more solid than the S3.

In terms of specs, this device is far beyond any other device on the market. There are also a number of unique features that has a lot of potential as a touchscreen that can track floating gesture commands and a IR blaster. The benchmark score is also well above the other devices, so it should be able to run any application with a very, very smoothly.”

Kondik favorite feature is the ‘hover’ preview, which you can refer to display an email without having to touch the screen to show a preview of the content of the email. Interestingly, Kondik it is very annoyed with the Smart Scroll so he prefers not to activate the feature.

Kondik wrote, “TouchWiz has become a bit more consistent with the latest upgrade. There are no more jarring mismatches in different parts of the OS, and it’s been lightened up a bit and has a clean “flat” feel. Unfortunately, it feels like it has been sent a few years back in time to the Froyo days. Say goodbye to all of the nice touch-friendly ViewPagers and say hello again to a fully tabbed UI . You’ll also enjoy the seemingly endless onslaught of popup windows and modal ‘Loading…’ dialogs. UI performance is average.”

Kondik indicated that CyanogenMod seems to be compatible with the Galaxy S4 Snapdragon chipset.
