<p>As artificial intelligence and AI-based technologies continue to advance, they are becoming more integrated into everyday life. From ChatGPT, which provides answers to users&#8217; questions, to autonomous cars, AI is shaping the future. However, this progress also sparks debates. Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak recently made a strong statement about AI, claiming &#8220;<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/05/tesla-long-range-model-3-orders/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Tesla</a> wants to kill you&#8221;. Here are the details&#8230;</p>

<h2><strong>Wozniak&#8217;s Harsh Comments on Tesla Autonomous Driving</strong></h2>

<p>As one of the co-founders of Apple, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/11/01/apple-co-founder-steve-wozniak-unimpressed-with-iphone-13-series/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Steve Wozniak</a> is a prominent figure in the technology industry. He has been particularly critical of AI, especially Tesla, a leading automaker in autonomous driving. Wozniak went so far as to say &#8220;Tesla wants to kill you&#8221; in reference to the company&#8217;s cars. During an interview, Wozniak expressed his belief that Tesla&#8217;s self-driving car ambitions are unnecessary and dangerous. He described Tesla&#8217;s autonomous driving system as &#8220;the car that AI enthusiasts who want to kill themselves should buy,&#8221; essentially calling the technology a &#8220;serial killer.&#8221;</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/steve-wozniak-tesla-aid-autonomous-driving-1-1024x576.jpeg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-534954" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/steve-wozniak-tesla-aid-autonomous-driving-1-1024x576.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/steve-wozniak-tesla-aid-autonomous-driving-1-300x169.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/steve-wozniak-tesla-aid-autonomous-driving-1-768x432.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/steve-wozniak-tesla-aid-autonomous-driving-1-696x392.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/steve-wozniak-tesla-aid-autonomous-driving-1-1068x601.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/steve-wozniak-tesla-aid-autonomous-driving-1-747x420.jpeg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/steve-wozniak-tesla-aid-autonomous-driving-1.jpeg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Wozniak has a history of making harsh comments about Tesla, often using strong and mocking language. His love-hate relationship with the company is well-documented, so his latest remarks aren&#8217;t entirely unexpected. It seems that Wozniak&#8217;s love for Tesla may be shifting more towards animosity.</p>

<p>Interestingly, Wozniak was one of Tesla&#8217;s early adopters. In 2013, he posted a picture of himself drinking gasoline, which he claimed led to an email from Elon Musk scolding him. Subsequently, Wozniak purchased a Tesla Model S. Despite using his Model S as his daily driver, Wozniak soon began to criticize Tesla&#8217;s autopilot system. However, his actions seemed contradictory, as he bought a second Model S before Autopilot 2.0 was released.</p>

<p>Now, with Wozniak&#8217;s renewed criticism of Tesla, it&#8217;s unclear whether his feelings towards the company are rooted in love or hatred. What we do know is that Wozniak owns two Tesla Model S vehicles and continues to use them daily.</p>

A prototype <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Apple</a> Computer A, allegedly built by none other than Steve Wozniak and once held by Steve Jobs, is up for auction as<a href="https://www.rrauction.com/auctions/lot-detail/345735106445006-steve-jobs-39-s-apple-1-computer-prototype/?cat=0" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> Lot #5006</a> on RR Auctions.</p>
<p>If it doesn&#8217;t have a distinguished pedigree to interest bidders, there is photographic proof that this is the production prototype for the Apple 1 and that it helped Apple land its first &#8220;major&#8221; order, the sale of 50 pre-assembled Apple 1s to The Byte Shop in Mountain View, California. Currently, at $278,005, the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) that is up for auction is likely to fetch more than $500,000 at the end of the auction . Notably, the auction ends on August 19.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_472276" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-472276" style="width: 2000px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-472276 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Apple-PCB-Steve-Woz-auction.jpg?x44794" alt="Apple PCB Steve Woz auction" width="2000" height="1129" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Apple-PCB-Steve-Woz-auction.jpg 2000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Apple-PCB-Steve-Woz-auction-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Apple-PCB-Steve-Woz-auction-1024x578.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Apple-PCB-Steve-Woz-auction-768x434.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Apple-PCB-Steve-Woz-auction-1536x867.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Apple-PCB-Steve-Woz-auction-696x393.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Apple-PCB-Steve-Woz-auction-1068x603.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Apple-PCB-Steve-Woz-auction-1920x1084.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Apple-PCB-Steve-Woz-auction-744x420.jpg 744w" sizes="(max-width: 2000px) 100vw, 2000px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-472276" class="wp-caption-text">(SOURCE:<a href="https://www.rrauction.com/auctions/lot-detail/345735106445006-steve-jobs-39-s-apple-1-computer-prototype/?cat=0#mz-expanded-view-1602805530781" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> RR Auctions</a>)</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>Steve Jobs didn&#8217;t take good care of the PCB when he had it in his possession. It is believed to have been neglected at the Apple Garage for several years after receiving the historic order before Jobs gave it to the present owner about 30 years ago.</p>
<p>The breaks and cracks in the PCB and the fact that some chips and capacitors are missing—likely because they were given to other projects in the garage or PCs in production—show that it was mistreated. In addition, images of the working prototype reveal that the top right corner of the arrangement is missing a number of big orange Sprague Atom capacitors. The CPU is also missing.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_472275" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-472275" style="width: 2000px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-472275 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Apple-PCB-Steve-Woz.jpg?x44794" alt="Apple PCB Steve Woz" width="2000" height="831" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Apple-PCB-Steve-Woz.jpg 2000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Apple-PCB-Steve-Woz-300x125.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Apple-PCB-Steve-Woz-1024x425.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Apple-PCB-Steve-Woz-768x319.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Apple-PCB-Steve-Woz-1536x638.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Apple-PCB-Steve-Woz-696x289.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Apple-PCB-Steve-Woz-1068x444.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Apple-PCB-Steve-Woz-1920x798.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Apple-PCB-Steve-Woz-1011x420.jpg 1011w" sizes="(max-width: 2000px) 100vw, 2000px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-472275" class="wp-caption-text">(SOURCE: <a href="https://www.rrauction.com/auctions/lot-detail/345735106445006-steve-jobs-39-s-apple-1-computer-prototype/?cat=0#mz-expanded-view-1602805530781" target="_blank" rel="noopener">RR Auctions</a>)</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>Since this is the Apple 1 prototype, it should have had a MOS 6502 CPU running at 1 MHz, a 40 x 24 character output, and 4 KB of RAM that could be expanded to 8 KB or 48 KB using expansion cards, and 456 KB of storage (tape). But as a prototype, this Apple Computer A was a little more adaptable because, according to the auction information, it could have operated with a socketed Motorola 6800 processor rather than a MOS 6502.</p>
<p>Between this prototype and the first 50 Apple 1 computers that were sold, there are a number of other differences. According to <a href="https://www.rrauction.com/auctions/lot-detail/345735106445006-steve-jobs-39-s-apple-1-computer-prototype/?cat=0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">RR Auctions</a>, Woz exclusively soldered this particular model using his distinctive &#8220;three-handed&#8221; method.</p>
<p>According to the auction advertisement, the first batch of Apple 1 computers only cost $40 or less to make; nevertheless, thanks to the assembly, software, and other value-added services, as well as profit, The Byte Shop was able to sell each one for $666.66. Notably, The Byte Shop was one of the world&#8217;s first computer shops and the first one on the globe to sell an Apple computer.</p>
<p>Would fixing it and getting it back in working order be wrong? It is not a very attractive PCB, and its condition is appalling. Nevertheless, it is believed that a collector or business is going to let it be in its current state of deterioration and behind glass for safekeeping. I mean, you have to keep a half-a-million dollar piece of modern history safe, no matter what days it has seen earlier.</p>

<p>“I got the new iPhone; I can’t tell the difference really,” He said. “The software that’s in it applies to older iPhones, I presume.”</p>
<p>Wozniak isn&#8217;t wrong if the looks alone of the iPhone 13 are to go by. The phone is nearly indistinguishable from the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/10/22/iphone-13-pro-vs-iphone-12-pro-max-specs-comparison/">iPhone 12</a>, with the only giveaway being its smaller notch. The camera module has grown a bit in size too but that&#8217;s something that can&#8217;t be easily spotted.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_422475" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-422475" style="width: 960px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-422475" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/steve-wozniak.jpg?x44794" alt="steve wozniak" width="960" height="644" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/steve-wozniak.jpg 960w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/steve-wozniak-300x201.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/steve-wozniak-768x515.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/steve-wozniak-696x467.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/steve-wozniak-626x420.jpg 626w" sizes="(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-422475" class="wp-caption-text">Image: REUTERS/Stephen Lam</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>The most notable upgrade when it comes to specifications is the new 120Hz panel &#8211; making the iPhone 13 Pro/Pro Max the very first iPhone to feature a high refresh rate display. This is paired with upgraded cameras and processor as well, but it&#8217;s still not enough to really tempt an upgrade for someone who already owns an iPhone 12.</p>
<p>Oddly, Wozniak implied that he has continued to stick to an <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/07/06/apple-iphone-8-top-spot-bestselling-smartphones-may-2018/">iPhone 8</a> &#8211; a phone from 2017 with just a 4.7-inch display (via <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/news/apple-co-founder-wozniak-cant-tell-the-difference-between-i-phone-13-and-previous-phones-211847252.html?guccounter=1&amp;guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93Y2NmdGVjaC5jb20v&amp;guce_referrer_sig=AQAAACvqs4_mtHllZ5iFzBm6IcOpYzFCaipBdt_E2BinA14690zIXJIXfTHGcrAc7Ncv2nHmAGAyzS-oGm7Atf53q7kzAKa8xY1LB2Xx4s37r_sb6GWQ6vSU-Mf4LY8OktGSXmnd9q14uGlTdwuOZLsRX7A-oGTjCgs_8_xmVElGoe4W">Yahoo Finance</a>). This he says feels the same as the iPhone 7 as well as iPhone 6 to him.</p>
<p>“I’d rather wait and watch that one. I’m happy with my iPhone 8 — which is the same as the iPhone 7, which is the same as the iPhone 6, to me.”</p>
<p>Wozniak had made similar comments back in 2017 when the iPhone X hit the market saying that he would not be purchasing the device on the first day of its release. However, he did praise the Apple Watch and called it his favorite piece of technology. He also voiced his dream of a foldable iPhone.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-413196 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/1-4.jpg?x44794" alt="Apple iPhone 13 Pro" width="500" height="500" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/1-4.jpg 500w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/1-4-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/1-4-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/1-4-420x420.jpg 420w" sizes="(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></p>
<p>Nonetheless, if you are one of those who share the same opinion as the Apple co-founder regarding the iPhone 13, then the upcoming <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/10/08/some-iphone-14-models-may-retain-the-notch-claims-report/">iPhone 14</a> may excite you. The phone has been touted to come with a re-design &#8211; a notchless front in favor of a punch-hole selfie shooter, titanium build, and rear cameras that stay flush into the back.</p>

Woz is being in China to promote Tesla Motors, which sets to enter Chinese market next month, and Woz rode the Tesla cars Model S to Xiaomi headquarter.</p>
<p>Woz is also use a Xiaomi Mi3 smartphone, “I’m playing with mine. I like it so far. I’ll tell you if I have problems,” Woz said. “Xiaomi has excellent products. They’re good enough to break the American market.”</p>
<p>Lei Jun and Woz never spoke directly face to face like that bfore, likely as a result of the language barrier between the two of them. Lei Jun never speaks in English publicly, and Woz doesn’t know Chinese. Still, it seemed as if they had never even met before as they each took turns answering the interviewer’s questions.</p>
