Despite being a young brand, Nothing is seeking to expand its presence in the market by introducing a new sub-brand. Meet CMF by Nothing, which will offer a new range of affordable products. So let’s have a look.

CMF: Affordable products with improved designs

CMF stands for Colour, Material, and Finish, which clearly signifies its brand philosophy. Interestingly, it appears that Carl Pei is following in the footsteps of the last company he founded, which is OnePlus. Nothing was established back in January 2021 after Pei left OnePlus. But similar to how OnePlus established Nord, a dedicated sub-brand for affordable devices, Nothing will be introducing CMF.

According to Carl Pei, the two brands will be separate but share a common DNA. In other words, the focus is on offering premium design and quality for its affordable products from CMF. The Nothing CEO promises that the brand will continue the same level of attention to user experience with the sub-brand as well. Although it remains to be seen if the company holds true to these promises.

While Nothing focuses on innovation and pushing boundaries in design and technology, CMF will emphasize clean design within a budget. As per the senior executive, many have asked for them to launch more affordable products, so this is where CMF steps in. Apart from this, Carl Pei confirmed that the brand will be launching its first-ever smartwatch and new earbuds by the end of this year.

Huawei, the leading Chinese tech company, has unveiled its latest sub-brand, Huawei Kunling, which is designed to cater to the distribution market. At the recently held Huawei China Partner Conference, the company announced that Huawei Kunling would focus on providing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with digital transformation solutions to support their business expansion.

Huawei Kunling aims to help small and medium-sized enterprises digitize with flexible and intelligent product solutions

To achieve this, Huawei Kunling will release over 70 products exclusively for the distribution market. These products will include intelligent sensing devices such as AI cameras, fiber-optic sensors, collaboration tablets, and other cutting-edge products. The sub-brand is targeting SOHO offices, hotels, commercial real estate, retail supermarkets, and office security scenarios.

Wang Tao, the Executive Director of Huawei, stated that Huawei Kunling would provide flexible and intelligent product solutions to help SMEs digitize easily. In addition, the company will offer a one-stop trading platform to enable full-process digital transactions with an e-commerce-style experience for distributors.

In addition, Huawei also released the Huawei Soho Wi-Fi 6 Campus Hummingbird Suite solution, which consists of switches and panel-style APs. This is the industry’s first Wi-Fi 6 suite with full-scenario 3000M, achieving smooth high-definition video downloads and video conferences, full coverage, seamless roaming, and no disconnections when walking indoors.

Overall, the launch of Huawei Kunling and the Soho Wi-Fi 6 Campus Hummingbird Suite demonstrates the company’s commitment to providing innovative and cutting-edge solutions to support the digital transformation of SMEs. As more businesses continue to embrace digital technologies, Huawei is well-positioned to meet their evolving needs and remain at the forefront of the tech industry.

According to TheMobileIndian, the Chinese smartphone maker is planning on expanding its mid range presence in the market even further. It has already launched the Nord CE 2, the Nord CE 2 Lite, and even the latest addition, the Nord 2T recently. And now, a source close to the matter has stated that the next strategy to grow in the mid range segment is by having OnePlus spin off its Nord as an independent brand or possibly even a sub brand.

In other words, this would bring the company in line with other Chinese OEMs like Oppo with Realme, Vivo with iQOO, and Xiaomi with POCO. The source further added that Nord will be treated as a standalone company and will have its own unique branding, stores, and even team. Notably, Nord phones will no longer have OnePlus branding, rather they will carry the words “from OnePlus” or “a OnePlus brand” in come places.

Based on the branding so far, we can expect a branding that uses light blue as its theme color. The sources also stated that the Nord branding will continue to focus on offline channels and to build a strong offline presence thanks to new dedicated showrooms and partnerships with third party stores and other authorized resellers. The Nord branding doesn’t just end with smartphones and will soon encompass TWS earbuds, Bluetooth neckbands, power banks, fitness bands, smartwatches, and much more.

Now, it seems that Lenovo is also all set to jump the bandwagon.

A new Weibo account has surfaced with the name “Lemeng Mobile” which was also shared with the account of Lenovo Mobile on Weibo. Further, information on the new brand’s Weibo account reveals that it is a part of Beijing Lenovo Group, confirming that the Lemeng Mobile is a sub-brand of Lenovo Mobile.

Today, the microblogging account of Lemeng Mobile posted that the company will be holding a meeting at Lenovo’s Beijing headquarters park to decide about the brand’s future going forward. If the brand is actually getting launched, it remains to be seen how it will distinguish itself from devices from Lenovo.

However, this is not a new brand coming out of Lenovo. The brand Lemeng Mobile previously existed and was focused on making music-focused phones. However, the brand was discontinued a few years ago and now it seems that Lenovo is rebooting the same brand.

Earlier this year, Xiaomi’s Redmi brand split from the parent company to work as an independent brand. After splitting, it launched the Redmi Note 7 smartphone, which has been well-received by the users. It is all set to launch Redmi Note 7 Pro and has recently launched Redmi Go — an Android Go-powered phone.

Last year, Oppo’s sub-brand Realme also split from the parent company and has taken the Indian budget smartphone market by storm. Within a year of its launch, the brand has established its presence in seven countries — India, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Phillippines, and Egypt. So far, the company has launched five smartphones and a couple of accessories and lifestyle products.

Huawei, which is currently the No. 2 smartphone brand in the world, also has a sub-brand named Honor, which is focused on the budget smartphones with value-for-money offerings while the Huawei brand is focused on offering high-end premium smartphones.

While the company is selling smartphones under its Lenovo brand, the China-based company also owns Motorola Mobility, which is acquired in 2014 from Google for $2.91 billion in order to break into the US and UK markets.
