Last year, Xiaomi showcased its 100W Super Charge Turbo fast charging solution in a video. This technology is capable of fully charging a 4,000 mAh battery in just 17 minutes. Now, after more than a year later, a smartphone with support for this tech has entered mass production according to the latest leak.

The mystery 100W Xiaomi smartphone has been rumored for a while now. A 120W Xiaomi charger with model number MDY-12-ED was recently certified by China’s 3C. This adaptor could come bundled with the said phone.

Xiaomi’s fastest charging phone was tipped to launch by the end of this year. But the new tip by Digital Chat Station suggests it might be unveiled next month itself as the company has begun to mass manufacture it. 

The tipster says that this handset will also support fast wireless charging, however, he did not mention the rate of charging. Earlier this year, Xiaomi demoed its 40W wireless charging and therefore, there is a little chance of it to debut on this mystery phone. At least, we can expect 30W wireless charging like the Mi 10 series.

Additionally, when a blogger asked Wang Teng, the Product Director of Redmi brand regarding the announcement of 100W charging, he replied that they have already announced this tech earlier. He added “what’s next, you figure” (Chinese translation) indicating the imminent launch of this phone in line with the latest leak.

Having said that, Xiaomi’s 100W smartphone is still a mystery. It could be either the rumored Mi 10 Pro Plus, Mi Mix 4 or maybe something else altogether.

Xiaomi showcased its 100W Super Charge Turbo fast charging technology in March 2019. This solution is capable of completely filling a 4,000 mAh battery in just 17 minutes. Now, more than a year later from its revelation, the 120W charger required for the tech gets 3C certification.

Before the launch of any new Chinese smartphone, mostly its charger is the first thing to get certification from the nation’s safety bureau called 3C (China Compulsory Certificate).

Last week, popular China-based tipster Digital Chat Station said that Xiaomi is soon expected to launch its as well as world’s first smartphone with 100W charging support. Looks like his sources were true as a Xiaomi 120W charger with model number MDY-12-ED got its approval on June 28 and was spotted earlier today.

Unsurprisingly, this is the same charger that leaked in a video last month. This particular charger is capable of operating at following power outputs.

• 5V 3A
• 9V 3A
• 11V 6A
• 20V 4.8A
• 20V 6A

Now, the biggest question is with which Xiaomi phone this powerful charger will be bundled with when Apple is reported to ship iPhone 12 series without in-box charger.

The strong contender for this is the long-rumored Mi Mix 4, which is expected to launch in Q4 2020. We hope to learn more about this device in the coming days if it is indeed releasing soon.

That said, Xiaomi’s 100W Super Charge Turbo could be soon overtaken by Vivo’s 120W Super FlashCharge in the near future.

The charging technology on smartphones has evolved over the years. Currently, the 65W Oppo SuperVOOC 2.0 is the fastest wired charging solution available in the market for phones. Though various companies have showcased faster charging solutions than this, they are yet to be commercialized. That said, if the new tip by popular Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station happens to be true, then Xiaomi’s 100W solution could soon take over the crown of fastest charging.

Xiaomi showcased its 100W Super Charge Turbo fast charging solution in a video in March 2019. It is capable of charging a 4,000 mAh battery in just 17 minutes. Then, in November, the company confirmed it to arrive in 2020 on commercial devices.

Now, almost half past 2020, we are yet to see a Xiaomi smartphone with its Super Charge Turbo technology. Instead, we got to see an alleged video of the company’s 120W charger last month.

But now, the latest tip from the Chinese leakster gives us a hope of witnessing the world’s first 100W smartphone charging solution soon. Unfortunately, he did not disclose which handset will be including it.

Anyway, going by his very own tips from last week, we can assume it to debut either on Mi 10 Pro Plus in August or Mi Mix 4 sometime later in Q4.

Having said that, though Xiaomi could become the company to launch the world’s fastest charging solution in a near future, Lenovo with its Legion gaming smartphone with 90W charging could be the first to break the current record holder Oppo in July.

Additionally, we also expect Xiaomi’s record to be soon broken by Vivo’s 120W Super FlashCharge sometime later next year. This solution can fully charge a 4,000 mAh battery in just 13 minutes, which is 4 minutes lesser than that of Xiaomi.

Recently, Xiaomi revealed its Super Charge Turbo 100W fast charging technology which essentially charges a 4000mAh battery from 0 to 100 percent in just 17 minutes! Now Lu Weibing, head of Redmi products, has revealed through a Weibo post that Redmi will be the first to mass produce the Xiaomi’s Super Charge Turbo technology for its smartphones.

Earlier, Lin Bin, President and co-founder of Xiaomi had revealed through a Weibo post that the company’s engineers successfully tested 100W fast charging for smartphones. This is nearly twice as fast as the SuperVOOC from OPPO, which is currently the fastest charging technology available in the market for smartphones.

The company also showcased that the OPPO’s SuperVOOC could only charge up to 65 percent by the time the Xiaomi’s model smartphone was completely charged. While the company hasn’t confirmed this but it’s safe to assume from the video that the tech is being called as Super Charge Turbo.

Currently, there’s no much information available related to this technology apart from the demo video shared by the Xiaomi CEO Lin Bin. While Lu Weibing confirmed that Redmi will be the first to mass produce this technology, he has not provided any timeline for this development.

The company could use this Super Charge Turbo technology in its upcoming flagship smartphone which will be powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 855 octa-core 7nm chipset. It was recently confirmed by the Redmi executive that the SD855-powered Redmi smartphone won’t be launched anytime soon. So, we’ll have to wait at least for a few months before we know more.

Gone are the days when Chinese companies blatantly copied western giants. In the past few years, companies coming out of China like Huawei and Xiaomi has pioneered a lot of modern-day innovations that go inside your phone. And it looks like the trend will continue for a foreseeable future.

Xiaomi has just revealed that it has successfully tested 100W fast charging for smartphones. Lin Bin, President and co-founder of Xiaomi revealed this news via a Weibo post a few hours ago. In the post, he revealed that the company’s engineers were able to achieve an astonishing 100W fast charging, which essentially charges a 4000mAh battery from 0 to 100 percent in just 17 minutes! That’s nearly twice as fast as the SuperVOOC from OPPO, which is currently the fastest charging technology available in the market for a smartphone.  

The company was even kind enough to show us that OPPO’s SuperVOOC could only charge up to 65 percent by the time the Xiaomi model on display was charged completely. By the way, Xiaomi’s 100W charging tech is being called as Super Charge Turbo, at least according to the video.

Unfortunately, apart from this demo, Xiaomi’s Lin Bin didn’t share any more details about the technology. So, the big question now is, whether we’ll see it anytime in the near future. We still haven’t met the real successor to the Mi Mix 3 yet (apart from a 5G edition), so it’s possible that the Mi Mix 4 could house this tech inside. Interestingly, the company seems to have teased the update to the Mix 3 model earlier today. So, it couldn’t have been a coincidence that Lin Bin decided to share this today. Anyway, let’s wait for more details before we get too excited. Stay tuned for more updates.
