Hence, a successor is long due for the Windows machine. Amidst a lot of reports, Geekbench listing strengthens the rumor that Microsoft could partner with <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/AMD">AMD</a> again.</p>
<figure id="attachment_280372" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-280372" style="width: 919px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-280372 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Microsoft-Surface-Laptop-3.png?x44794" alt="Microsoft Surface Laptop 3" width="919" height="423" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Microsoft-Surface-Laptop-3.png 919w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Microsoft-Surface-Laptop-3-300x138.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Microsoft-Surface-Laptop-3-768x353.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Microsoft-Surface-Laptop-3-696x320.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Microsoft-Surface-Laptop-3-912x420.png 912w" sizes="(max-width: 919px) 100vw, 919px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-280372" class="wp-caption-text">Representative Image: Surface Laptop 3</figcaption></figure>
<p>A Geekbench listing <a href="https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/6662633">shows</a> the device in testing as the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/microsoft-surface-laptop-4">Microsoft Surface Laptop 4</a>. It has a codename &#8216;renoir&#8217; indicating that the successor of the 2019 notebook will also have a custom-made APU(Zen 2 architecture) and Vega GPU. Although the processor is listed as AMD Ryzen 5 3580U, we think it could just be a placeholder.</p>
<p>This is because the Ryzen 5 3580U <a href="https://www.amd.com/en/products/apu/amd-ryzen-5-3580u-microsoft-surface-edition">found</a> on the predecessor has 4-cores and not a Hexa-core CPU as mentioned in the listing. Hence, the exact version of the Ryzen 5 processor is a mystery at least for now but the listing strongly hints a new &#8216;Ryzen Surface Edition&#8217; is coming.</p>
<p>Anyway, the listing also shows that the laptop will have 8GB DDR4 SDRAM and run <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/windows-10">Windows 10</a> OS. The device in testing scores about 1,063 in single-core and 5,726 in multi-core departments. We will have to wait for the real-world tests to find out if this outsmart the rival Intel 11th-gen CPUs.</p>
<p>Speaking of which, the Surface Laptop 4 is expected to come in 13.5-inch and 15-inch models. Unlike earlier, rumors say that Microsoft will offer <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/AMD">AMD</a> (Ryzen 5/7) CPUs as a choice for both sizes in addition to <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Intel">Intel</a> (Core-i5/i7).</p>
<p>The predecessor Surface Laptop 3 had only the Type-C port and 3.5mm jacks so it would be nice of Microsoft to include an HDMI port/SD card reader at a time when <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/02/23/372847-apple-2021-macbook-pro-hdmi-port-sd-card-reader/">giants like Apple are considering</a> it.</p>
<p>The company is expected to launch the Surface Laptop 4 in April which means we could be seeing more leaks in the near future.</p>
