Swiss Military is better known for its lifestyle accessories, but with the NXT Pods, the brand is targeting users looking for a no-fuss, functional audio experience in a stylish shell. I’ve been using the NXT Pods over the past week across different scenarios like music streaming, voice calls, and even switching between devices like a laptop and phone. Here’s how they held up in real-world use.

Design and comfort

The standout feature is definitely the swivel case design with a chrome finish. It feels sturdy, opens smoothly, and looks different from the usual flip-top TWS cases. The earbuds themselves fit snugly and remain comfortable for long periods.

There is no wear detection, which means playback continues even after removing the earbuds unless paused manually. However, it does allow you to turn on only one earbud, in case you want to listen to music through one ear.

Battery life and charging

Battery performance is quite good. I got close to the advertised 40-hour total battery life, with the earbuds themselves lasting around 6 hours per charge. The Type-C fast charging support is real, a full case recharge takes around 1 hour. Charging is simple, just place the earbuds into the case, and they begin charging automatically.

Controls and Connectivity

The touch controls work consistently once you get used to them. Key functions include:

• Play/Pause: Single tap on either bud
• Next track: Triple tap on the left bud
• Previous track: Triple tap on the right bud
• Volume up: Double tap on the left bud
• Volume down: Double tap on the right bud
• Answer/End call: Single tap
• Reject call: Press and hold for 1.5 seconds
• Voice assistant: Press and hold for 1.5 seconds
• Game/Music mode switch: Tap four times

The four-tap gesture for toggling between game and music modes feels a bit excessive, it can easily lead to accidental misfires or confusion, especially when you’re quickly trying to change tracks or volume. You can turn on and off the earbuds, by long pressing until you hear power on/off message.

The NXT Pods come with Bluetooth 5.4 and support dual-device pairing. Pairing is straightforward—open the lid, take out the buds, and they automatically enter pairing mode. You can then connect them via your phone or laptop’s Bluetooth settings. Switching between devices works, though there is a slight delay when jumping from one to another.

Audio quality and call experience

The audio is balanced for casual use. Mids and vocals come through cleanly, and the bass is present but not overpowering. There’s no active noise cancellation, and the earbuds don’t offer any kind of sound customization or app support.

Call clarity is acceptable in quiet settings, though background noise can affect voice pickup. According to the manual, issues with microphone performance may be due to mute settings or incorrect earbud placement.

Final Thoughts

Priced at Rs 1,380, the Swiss Military NXT Pods deliver solid basics with a unique design and good battery life. Touch controls and dual pairing work well, but they lack wear detection and companion app support. They’re suitable for daily use—just don’t expect anything fancy.
