Last week, Huawei had revealed its new wearable device — Huawei TalkBand B5, which is the successor of the TalkBand B3 that was launched in 2016. Today, along with the Nove 3, Nova 3i and Kirin 710 processor, Huawei officially launched the TalkBand B5.

As for the pricing, the Sports version of the Huawei TalkBand B5 is priced at 999 Yuan, which roughly converts to $149 while the Business variant of the wearable device is priced at 1,199 Yuan, that is roughly $178. There’s also a third variant, Fashion version, which costs 1,499 Yuan (approximately $223).

The TalkBand B5 comes with an ungraded 1.13-inch full color touch display with 2.5D curved glass and 300 × 160 pixels screen resolution. The display is about 2.4 times bigger than its predecessor and can display contents of WeChat and QQ as well as schedule, SMS and news, among others.

It is a 2-in-1 device that can be used as a fitness tracker as well as a single-ear Bluetooth headset. When attached to the wristband, it can be used as a fitness tracker, but when detached, it becomes a single-ear Bluetooth headset which can be used to take calls.

The pop-up Bluetooth headset has a trip-core audio chip with high-definition voice and dual microphone with noise reduction. It has caller ID support, call mute function as well as speed dial option. There’s a built-in triple-core audio chip that supports dual MIC noise reduction.

The wearable device also comes with Huawei TruRelax Technology that analyses heart rate variability and accesses the user’s stress status. Further, the device offers breath training for relaxing. The Huawei TruSleep 2.0 uses cardiopulmonary coupled dynamics spectrum (CPC) to monitor complete sleep structure including deep sleep (REM). It analyzes the sleep pattern of the user and also offers personalized sleep recommendations.

The Huawei TruSeen 2.0 heart rate technology offers 24-hour continuous heart monitoring when running, walking, cycling and more activities. Along with step counting, calorie calculation, and distance measurement, it also enables users to set up a running plan based on heart rate evaluation, V02max, recovery time suggestion and more.

The device also comes with features such as reminders, voice assistants, alarm clocks, remote control for media content, phone finder, etc. The Huawei TalkBand B5 has IP67 rating for dust and water resistance. The Talkband B5 connects via Bluetooth 4.2 to devices that are running Android 4.4+ and iOS 9.0 and above. It is powered by a 108mAh battery that can provide talktime of about 6 hours on a single charge.

The Huawei TalkBand B5 comes in Sports Edition with strap in three colors — Ash, Black and Brown color. On the other hand, the Business Edition comes with a metal strap. There are also optional 18mm straps in silicone, leather and stainless steel for a premium look.

A recent leak had suggested that Huawei may announce the Nova 3 smartphone and TalkBand B5 smartband through the same launch event that will be held on July 18. At 9 AM (local time), Huawei confirmed through its Weibo account that it will be unveiling the Nova 3 smartphone on July 18. Two hours later, the Chinese manufacturer also revealed that the TalkBand B5 will be also announced on the same date.

Huawei will be holding the Nova 3 launch event at the Shenzhen Universiade Stadium in China on July 18. It is likely that the TalkBand B5 will be also announced at the same venue. Huawei had launched TalkBand B3 smartband in 2016. It included an in-ear Bluetooth headset that featured a monochrome screen. The TalkBand B5 which also features an in-ear Bluetooth headset is arriving as the successor of TalkBand B3.

According to the Weibo post that accompanies the above launch poster, the TalkBand B5’s in-ear Bluetooth headset can be conveniently removed to talk freely. The following leaked render that was revealed by reliable tipster Evan Blass also shows that the device has an in-ear Bluetooth headset which can be ejected easily.

The upcoming TalkBand B5 seems to feature a larger OLED screen with bigger fonts than the predecessor model. The Gold variant may come with a leather strap whereas the Silver model may have a metallic band. Like the predecessor model, the TalkBand B5 is expected to function as a fitness tracker. Hence, it could be equipped with features such as heart rate monitor, sleep tracker and more.

The specifications and pricing of the Huawei TalkBand B5 is still under the wraps. It will be arriving as one of the major rivals for the recently unveiled Mi Band 3 that carries a price tag of 169 Yuan (~$25). Hence, the upcoming Huawei smartband is expected to arrive with a competitive pricing.

As far as the Nova 3 smartphone, it will be arriving with 6.3-inch FHD+ notched screen, Kirin 659 SoC, 6 GB of RAM, 64 GB / 128 GB storage choices and 3,650mAh battery. The handset is equipped with dual cameras at its front and rear. It will arrive with EMUI flavored Android 8.1 Oreo preinstalled.

Recent teasers from Huawei have confirmed that the Nova 3 is an upcoming smartphone from the company. During a recent press conference, the Chinese manufacturer had confirmed that the launch event of Nova 3 will be held at Shenzhen Universiade Stadium on July 18. Today, the company has officially confirmed through its Weibo account that the Nova 3 will go official on July 18 in China.

Apart from China, the Huawei Nova 3 is also expected to get announced in Philippines on July 28. One of the major highlights of this notched display smartphone is that it will be equipped with dual selfie and rear cameras.

The Nova 3 has already visited TENAA earlier in this month. Through its TENAA listing, it has been revealed that it will be featuring a 6.3-inch display that will carry support for FHD+ resolution. An octa-core processor that clocks at 2.36 GHz will be present under the hood of the device. There is a possibility that the handset could be fueled by the Kirin 659 SoC.

The 64 GB and 128 GB storage models of the Nova 3 will respectively feature 6 GB of RAM. For more storage, it will be coming with a microSD card slot.

The handset will be drawing power from 3,650mAh battery. The EMUI based Android 8.1 Oreo OS will be available preinstalled on the phone. A fingerprint reader is placed on the back panel of the phone. It is confirmed that the handset will be arriving in colors like light blue, gold and bluish-purple.

When it comes to photography, the Nova 3 will offer a dual selfie setup featuring a 24-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. The vertically stacked dual camera unit on the rear of the Nova 3 includes a 16-megapixel sensor and a 24-megapixel sensor.

As of this writing, there is no confirmation on the pricing of the smartphone. It is speculated that Huawei will be announcing the rumored TalkBand B5 smartband alongside the Nova 3 smartphone on July 18.

In the past week, popular leakster Evan Blass had shared the renders of the upcoming TalkBand B5 smartband that revealed it will be sporting a design similar to the predecessor model. Fresh photos have surfaced to reveal the TalkBand B5 in real skin.

As it can be seen in the new images, the TalkBand B5 can be seen sporting a leather strap. Like the predecessor model, the TalkBand B5 can also function as in-ear Bluetooth headset. The TalkBand B3 that came with a monochrome display, but the successor device seems to be sporting a large-sized color display. The device may sport larger font than the B3.

Just as the Apple Watch comes with Siri voice-assistant, the upcoming TalkBand B5 is also expected to arrive with its own voice-assistant.  The images also reveal that the B5 will be arriving with TruSeen heart rate monitor and TruSleep sleep improvement feature.

On July 18, Huawei will be announcing the Nova 3 smartphone. It is speculated that the TalkBand B5 may get unveiled alongside the Nova 3.

The backside of the Nova 3 is fitted with 16-megapixel + 24-megapixel dual camera setup whereas the frontside has 24-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual camera setup. The handset is expected to arrive in colors like gold, light blue and blue-purple color hybrid.
