Tata Motors has unveiled the Ace EV 1000 electric cargo vehicle. The Tata Ace EV 1000 offers a decent payload capability and a range of 161 km on a single charge. The range implies that the Ace EV 1000 can be deployed for daily intra-city deliveries.

Features

Tata Motors is a powerhouse in the Indian automotive market and also sports global credentials. The Ace EV 1000 underpins the Tata strategy to encompass a large spectrum of the market. The new cargo EV offers a sustainability-based and cheaper alternative to gasoline- or diesel-powered logistics delivery trucks. The EV has a 27kW electric motor and a payload capacity of 1 tonne. Tata says the Ace EV 1000 was developed with inputs from Tata’s customers and it will cater to the needs of FMCG, beverages, LPG, dairy, and paints/ lubricants sector of the logistics industry.

The Ace EV 1000 has the Fleet Edge, telematics, and battery management systems, among other features. These technologies were developed by the Tata Group of Companies. The model will be exclusively available for now via Tata’s extensive commercial vehicle dealerships across India. Additionally, it will be supported by up to 150 Tata electric vehicle support centers in the country. Tata says that the evolution of the Ace EV 1000 was customer-centered and its customers have become ambassadors of the new mobility solution. It says it is extending the customer experience to new customers who are looking at improved operating economics across the varied sectors that are serviced.

The Tata Ace EV 1000 is powered by the Evogen powertrain that comes with a five-year comprehensive maintenance package, a seven-year battery warranty, and a 5-year comprehensive battery cooling system. The e-cargo vehicle also offers regenerative braking and delivers a peak torque of 130Nm. The Tata Ace EV 1000 can be charged rapidly for greater operations. It comes with enhanced functionality when navigating through slopes even when fully loaded.

Pricing

The Ace EV 1000 will compete with many of the electric cargo three-wheelers already in the market. It currently does not have a direct competitor in the four-wheeled segment. Bajaj, Euler, Piaggio, and Altigreen are among the manufacturers that already have models in the cargo EV segment. The price range of the Tata Ace EV 1000 e-cargo vehicle is about Rs. 9.22 Lakhs ($11,035) (ex-showroom).
