Because of this, the company comes out with a couple of unique ideas to be able to launch smartphones with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/5g">5G support</a>.</p>
<p>In the latest development, TD Tech M40 5G High-End Version has been launched in China. As the name indicates, the phone is a rebranded version of the Huawei Mate 40 smartphone and an upgraded version of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/05/13/td-tech-m40-huawei-mate-40-5g-sale-china/">standard model launched</a> earlier this year.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-473788 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/TD-Tech-M40-5G-High-End-Version.jpeg?x44794" alt="TD Tech M40 Pro 5G High-End Version" width="1440" height="2549" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/TD-Tech-M40-5G-High-End-Version.jpeg 1440w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/TD-Tech-M40-5G-High-End-Version-169x300.jpeg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/TD-Tech-M40-5G-High-End-Version-578x1024.jpeg 578w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/TD-Tech-M40-5G-High-End-Version-768x1359.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/TD-Tech-M40-5G-High-End-Version-868x1536.jpeg 868w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/TD-Tech-M40-5G-High-End-Version-1157x2048.jpeg 1157w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/TD-Tech-M40-5G-High-End-Version-696x1232.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/TD-Tech-M40-5G-High-End-Version-1068x1891.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/TD-Tech-M40-5G-High-End-Version-237x420.jpeg 237w" sizes="(max-width: 1440px) 100vw, 1440px" /></p>

<p>The TD Tech M40 5G High-End Version features a 6.5-inch <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oled">OLED curved screen</a>, offering a 90Hz refresh rate which is a upgrade compared to the regular version that was launched a few months ago. It is also rated for IP53 dust and water resistance to keep your phone safe from the light drizzle in the rain.</p>
<p>Under the hood, the phone is powered by the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/05/07/mediatek-dimensity-1000-announced-with-higher-refresh-rate-support/">MediaTek Dimensity 1000 Plus SoC</a>, which is a major upgrade compared to the outdated Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 9000, which the Chinese company is basically forced to use on its devices because of US sanctions.</p>
<p>In the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/camera">camera</a> department, there’s a triple-camera setup on the back panel that includes a 64-megapixel primary sensor, a 16-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. On the front side, there’s a 13-megapixel wide-angle snapper for taking selfies and video calling.</p>
<p>As for the software, the phone runs the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/harmonyos">HarmonyOS</a> based on the Android operating system. It is powered by a 4,200mAh battery and comes with 40W fast charging through the USB Type-C port and 40W wireless charging.</p>

Today, the device officially went on sale in China in two different memory versions.</p>
<p>The base model with 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage is priced at 3,999 yuan (~$588), while the 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage model costs 4,499 yuan (~$661). It comes in three color options &#8212; Ceramic White, Secret Silver, and Shiny Black.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-460207 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TD-Tech-M40.png?x44794" alt="TD Tech M40" width="1440" height="940" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TD-Tech-M40.png 1440w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TD-Tech-M40-300x196.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TD-Tech-M40-768x501.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TD-Tech-M40-1024x668.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TD-Tech-M40-696x454.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TD-Tech-M40-1068x697.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TD-Tech-M40-643x420.png 643w" sizes="(max-width: 1440px) 100vw, 1440px" /></p>
<p>In terms of design, the TD Tech M40 smartphone looks identical to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-40/">Huawei Mate 40</a>, but unlike the Huawei-branded device, this one comes with support for 5G connectivity. This appears to be the workaround for the Chinese brand to have its smartphones with support for <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/5g">5G</a> available in the market.</p>
<p>The smartphone features a 6.5-inch Full HD+ 60Hz <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/amoled">AMOLED</a> display with support for HDR 10+ content and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. The device is also rated for IP53 dust and water resistance to keep your phone safe from the light drizzle in the rain.</p>
<p>Under the hood, it is powered by the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/05/07/mediatek-dimensity-1000-announced-with-higher-refresh-rate-support/">MediaTek Dimensity 1000 Plus SoC</a>, which is a major upgrade compared to the outdated Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 9000, which the Chinese company is basically forced to use on its devices because of US sanctions.</p>

On the front side, there&#8217;s a 13-megapixel wide-angle snapper for taking selfies and video calling.</p>
<p>As for the software, the phone runs the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/harmonyos">HarmonyOS 2.0</a> based on the Android 10 operating system. It is powered by a 4,200mAh battery and comes with 40W fast charging through the USB Type-C port and 40W wireless charging.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">But in an unlikely turn of events in 2022, we could still get “</span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Huawei</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> designed” smartphones, but not “</span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Huawei</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> branded” smartphones. <p><span style="font-weight: 400">Let’s start with the design, the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/td-tech-m40/"><span style="font-weight: 400">TD Tech M40</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> is housed within an aluminium build chassis that features a premium shiny matte glass finish with a circular camera island on its back, and a 3D curved AMOLED with a left punch hole upfront. The “TD Tech” branding is also printed on the back to let you know, that this is indeed the newer model. </span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-459595 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TD-Tech-M40-screen.jpg?x44794" alt="TD Tech M40 screen" width="1498" height="530" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TD-Tech-M40-screen.jpg 1498w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TD-Tech-M40-screen-300x106.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TD-Tech-M40-screen-768x272.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TD-Tech-M40-screen-1024x362.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TD-Tech-M40-screen-696x246.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TD-Tech-M40-screen-1068x378.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TD-Tech-M40-screen-1187x420.jpg 1187w" sizes="(max-width: 1498px) 100vw, 1498px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The front display panel is a 6.5-inch FHD+ 60Hz AMOLED display with support for HDR 10+ content and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. The device is also rated for IP53 dust and water resistance to keep your phone safe from the light drizzle in the rain.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The main upgrade here is the processor, instead of using the outdated Kirin 9000 4G processor on the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-40/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Huawei Mate 40</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/td-tech-m40/"><span style="font-weight: 400">TD Tech M40</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> features the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 Plus SoC instead. <p><span style="font-weight: 400">Coming to the rear cameras, the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/td-tech-m40/"><span style="font-weight: 400">TD Tech M40</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> has a triple camera setup. Instead of the 50MP sensor found on the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-40/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Huawei Mate 40</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/td-tech-m40/"><span style="font-weight: 400">TD Tech M40</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> utilises a 64MP main sensor instead with Laser Autofocus, f/1.9 aperture and support for 4K video recording. The 2 others are also very competitive as well, with the ultra-wide being a 16MP f/2.2 sensor with an additional macro-photography mode and an 8MP telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom. You’ll also get a 13MP wide-angle selfie camera at the front, for when you want to fit more memories into your photo.</span></p>
