This device is officially called TD Tech P50. As the name suggests, it is nothing but a rebranded Huawei P50.

The differences between the original and the new model are that the latter carries support for 5G connectivity and ships with different software. Since TD Tech is more of an enterprise-facing company, it also provides customization for businesses.

Apart from the aforementioned dissimilarities, the TD Tech P50 is essentially a Huawei P50. Therefore, it arrives with a 6.5-inch 10-bit 90Hz OLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, 4,100mAh battery, and 66W fast wired charging support.

The smartphone also houses a triple camera system on its rear. The setup consists of a 50MP primary sensor, 13MP ultra-wide unit, and 12MP 5x telephoto shooter. On the front, it sports a 13MP snapper for selfies and video calls.

TD Tech is yet to reveal the pricing and availability of this handset. The phone will be probably sold in limited quantities, like the previous models from the company.

Because of this, the company comes out with a couple of unique ideas to be able to launch smartphones with 5G support.

In the latest development, TD Tech M40 5G High-End Version has been launched in China. As the name indicates, the phone is a rebranded version of the Huawei Mate 40 smartphone and an upgraded version of the standard model launched earlier this year.

It will go on sale from 11th August, with a starting price of 3,599 yuan. As for the pricing, the base model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB model is priced at 3,599 yuan (~$533) while the model with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage costs 3,999 yuan (~$592).

The TD Tech M40 5G High-End Version features a 6.5-inch OLED curved screen, offering a 90Hz refresh rate which is a upgrade compared to the regular version that was launched a few months ago. It is also rated for IP53 dust and water resistance to keep your phone safe from the light drizzle in the rain.

Under the hood, the phone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 Plus SoC, which is a major upgrade compared to the outdated Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 9000, which the Chinese company is basically forced to use on its devices because of US sanctions.

In the camera department, there’s a triple-camera setup on the back panel that includes a 64-megapixel primary sensor, a 16-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. On the front side, there’s a 13-megapixel wide-angle snapper for taking selfies and video calling.

As for the software, the phone runs the HarmonyOS based on the Android operating system. It is powered by a 4,200mAh battery and comes with 40W fast charging through the USB Type-C port and 40W wireless charging.

But in an unlikely turn of events in 2022, we could still get “Huawei designed” smartphones, but not “Huawei branded” smartphones. Today, on May 10th 2022, TD Tech, a newcomer to the smartphone business, is launching its first-ever flagship smartphone, the TD Tech M40 to the Chinese market.

Let’s start with the design, the TD Tech M40 is housed within an aluminium build chassis that features a premium shiny matte glass finish with a circular camera island on its back, and a 3D curved AMOLED with a left punch hole upfront.
The front display panel is a 6.5-inch FHD+ 60Hz AMOLED display with support for HDR 10+ content and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. The device is also rated for IP53 dust and water resistance to keep your phone safe from the light drizzle in the rain.

The main upgrade here is the processor, instead of using the outdated Kirin 9000 4G processor on the Huawei Mate 40, the TD Tech M40 features the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 Plus SoC instead.
Coming to the rear cameras, the TD Tech M40 has a triple camera setup. The 2 others are also very competitive as well, with the ultra-wide being a 16MP f/2.2 sensor with an additional macro-photography mode and an 8MP telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom. You’ll also get a 13MP wide-angle selfie camera at the front, for when you want to fit more memories into your photo.

According to a report by ITHome, the TD Tech N8 Pro is no longer listed anywhere online. Hence, the publication says that the smartphone has been discontinued. But unfortunately, we don’t have any proof for the device’s discontinuation.

Huawei’s smartphone business is in turmoil ever since the company was added to the entity list by the US government. With the subsequent sanctions, the firm had to even sell its sub-brand HONOR.

Since the once world’s largest smartphone company can now no longer sell phones with 5G connectivity, it has been providing its hardware to other companies, which have licenses to trade 5G handsets.

The TD Tech N8 Pro is one of these phones. As mentioned earlier, this device is a HUAWEI nova 8 Pro inside out. But since it is from a different firm theoretically, it has 5G connectivity.

On the other hand, the now independent HONOR brand registered immense growth last quarter in China. But sadly, the future of Huawei’s smartphone business is not bright at all.
