The company is sticking to a welcome aspect of its predecessor that reduces worry for anyone who dreads expensive and complicated phone repairs. So here are all the details.

According to a detailed teardown by PBKreviews on YouTube, the brand’s new value flagship phone has managed to earn a strong 8.5 out of 10 repairability score. In the video, the tech channel praised the Chinese brand for its smart engineering choices, like common Philips screws and modular camera parts that simplify disassembly. There are also other aspects, such as an easy-to-remove battery with pull tabs and accessible core components, that helped achieve the high repairability scores.

Although battery cables are underneath graphite film and copper tape, the overall process remains simpler than on many other devices. But it’s not all perfect here. The glass backplate still sticks via adhesive. So you’ll need careful heating to avoid cracking during removal. Screen replacements can be the hardest task, as one needs to disassemble multiple internal layers before the display flex cable becomes accessible.

Overall, the OnePlus 15R teardown paints a picture of a smartphone that strikes a smart balance between modern build quality and repair-friendly design. While teardown videos often reveal the different ways a company has put together their smartphone, things get a bit more interesting when breaking down a super slim phone. The Moto Edge 70 is one such model, and a fresh video has offered us a glimpse of its impressive internals.

What the Moto Edge 70 Teardown Video Reveals

The latest teardown was shared by YouTuber Kingmi Mobile. Looking at this video, we get a full view of the internals of the Moto Edge 70. Among the thin components, two aspects stood out in particular. First, the battery of the Edge 70 takes up a large portion of the internal space, but measures just 3.9mm thick. This cell is around 0.4mm thicker than the battery in the iPhone Air and 0.2mm thicker than Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge.

Second, you get a super thin display that measures just 1mm, which is half as thick as the iPhone Air’s 2mm display panel. Despite the razon thin dimensions, the screen of the Edge 70 offers a 120Hz refresh rate, 4500 nits of peak brightness, a 1.5K resolution, and Corning’s Gorilla Glass 7i for protection. To recall, the Galaxy S25 Edge is powered by a 3,900mAh cell, while the iPhone Air has around a 3,100mAh battery.

So the Motorola Edge 70 impresses with a much larger 4,800mAh battery pack. The YouTuber also found a small but efficient thermal dissipation system, which keeps the internals, like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 cool. The company just recently unveiled the Moto Edge 70 in Europe, while it debuted in China as the Moto X70 Air.

Among the various changes Apple brought to the new “budget” iPhone 16e model, there have also been upgrades in terms of its overall repairability as well. These updates to the design arrive from a teardown video shared by iFixit. So here are all the details.

Apple iPhone 16e improves on repairability

The Cupertino based giant’s products were known for their difficulties in repair. Apple had been notorious for cracking down on third party and self repairs in the past. It has made strides in this regard with its recent models, especially in the iPhones. Now, the iPhone 16e is continuing to improve with hardware design elements like an “electrically released adhesive”. This was first seen on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus.

In other words, the technology helps make battery replacement easier than before. iFixit demonstrated this by using its VoltClip at 12V, freeing the battery in just 5 seconds. This is also a lot better than the stretch release adhesives that can break off when prying the battery off. In the teardown video, iFixit also noted that they didn’t face any issues with parts pairing, meaning that Apple has loosened software restrictions as well. This is clear progress in the Right to Repair.

To recall, the iPhone 16e also debuted the brand’s C1 model which was also revealed in this teardown video. Apart from this, iFixit gave the device a repairability score of 7 out of 10. They stated that the repairability matches the other iPhone 16 series models as well. Although, iFixit said it’s hard to justify it as an upgrade owing to its price hike and suggests buying refurbished.

The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro has taken the foldable phone world by storm, not just for its functionality but for its remarkably thin profile. But how did Vivo achieve this feat of engineering? Thankfully, the folks at WekiHome have taken it upon themselves to disassemble the phone and reveal its inner secrets in a recent teardown video.

The motherboard uses a dual-stack layout to house the triple camera setup

After removing the SIM card slot, applying some heat and prying it open with a tool, the back cover of the phone detaches. While thin, it’s constructed from a reinforced fiber composite, ensuring durability without adding unnecessary bulk. Peeling back this layer reveals the other side of the phone, dominated by a large sheet of copper foil. This acts as a thermal conductor, keeping the display panel cool even during intense use. Tucked beneath it, we find a second-generation Qualcomm ultrasonic fingerprint scanner for secure unlocking.

The journey continues with the motherboard, a marvel of compact design. It utilizes a dual-stacked layout to neatly house the triple camera system. But that’s not all! This clever design also integrates a unique plastic cover that not only protects the cameras, but also serves as a functional hub for the flash cable, microphone, ambient light sensor, and laser focus module. The teardown even provides close-up shots of these camera components, along with sample photos to pique our curiosity about their image quality.

Next, we dive deeper to encounter the powerhouse of the phone – the motherboard. Here, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip takes center stage, supported by the performance of Samsung‘s LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. Vivo’s own V3 imaging chip also makes an appearance. But keeping all this processing power from overheating is an important task, entrusted to a copper vapor chamber positioned beneath the motherboard.

We also get a closer look at the speakers, microphones, and the vibration motor. The dual-cell 5,700mAh silicone anode battery, cleverly split into two 2,850mAh cells for optimal space utilization, is also revealed. Finally, the teardown concludes by showcasing the pièce de résistance – the lightweight carbon fiber hinge. Weighing in at an impressive sub-15 grams, the hinge is a big contributor to the phone’s remarkably thin design of the device.

The teardown for the Search Engine giant’s Pixel 8 was shared by PBKreviews on YouTube. In the video, the smartphone is disassembled in front of the camera. This also offers a tutorial on how to open up the device. We can see the rear camera sensors once the rear panel is removed, along with the graphite film that helps in dissipating heat. Right underneath this layer is the battery pack, which was a bit tricky to remove due to the adhesives.

Although, the Pixel 8’s camera models were relatively easier to remove. PBKreviews even managed to take out the motherboard of the new smartphone. The YouTuber noted that removing the back panel without damaging the device is difficult. He gave the Pixel 8 a repairability score of 7 out of 10. This score isn’t bad since it means that self repairs are possible, however, it isn’t recommended for inexperienced beginners.

Talking about the device itself, the Pixel 8 is equipped with Google’s Tensor G3 chipset, which is paired with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. It sports a 6.2-inch OLED display that has a Full HD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The rear features a 50-megapixel dual camera setup, while the front houses a 10.5-megapixel selfie shooter. The Pixel is powered by a 4,575mAh battery pack.

PBKreviews is a popular YouTube channel that specializes in teardown videos of smartphones and other gadgets. Recently, the channel got its hands on the Huawei Mate 60 Pro, and the results of the teardown are quite interesting.

The Mate 60 Pro is a highly controversial device, as it is Huawei’s first flagship smartphone to be released since the company was placed on the US Entity List in 2019. This means that Huawei is unable to source certain components from US suppliers, including chips from Qualcomm.

Despite the sanctions, Huawei has managed to produce the Mate 60 Pro with a 5G-capable, 7nm chipset. The teardown video from PBKreviews shows the phone’s motherboard uncovered, revealing the SK Hynix RAM chips that sit above the HiSilicon Kirin 9000s chipset.

Those are themselves a mystery and SK Hynix has launched an investigation into how its RAM chips made their way into the Mate 60 Pro, as the company says it has not sold to Huawei since 2020.

Additionally, the teardown video shows that the Mate 60 Pro also features a difficult-to-remove display. PBKreviews’ drop test showed that the phone’s Kunlun 2 glass is very tough, but the 6.82″ LTPO AMOLED display was irreparably damaged in the process of removing it. Here’s the full video.

This suggests that the display is glued down very tightly, which would make it difficult and expensive to replace. Ultimately, the Huawei Mate 60 Pro was given a 5/10 repairability rating.

In an exciting update for Apple enthusiasts, iFixit’s maintenance team has released a revealing teardown video of the highly anticipated 2023 Mac Pro. The teardown sheds light on the new changes made by Apple to its flagship desktop computer. The disassembly process uncovered an interesting discovery regarding memory configuration. While the user cannot directly upgrade the memory, a replaceable memory module is discreetly tucked away, accompanied by an empty slot. Unfortunately, Apple has confirmed that the empty slot does not support user expansion, featuring memory configuration available only on the official Apple website.

Surprisingly, the teardown also reveals that Apple has repurposed the powerful cooling solution employed in the Intel-powered version for the M2 Ultra chip. This finding suggests that Apple has chosen to leverage existing cooling components, emphasizing the company’s focus on optimization and efficiency.

Perhaps the most intriguing revelation is the continued use of the same large motherboard as the previous Intel Mac Pro to power the M2 Ultra chip. iFixit’s team expresses their belief that the smaller M2 Ultra chip does not require such a substantial motherboard to function optimally. This insight raises questions about Apple’s design choices, hinting at potential avenues for further miniaturization.

However, ahead of the official announcement a teardown video has revealed the complete internal design of the Pixel 7a and even showcases some of its key hardware. So let’s have a look.

Google Pixel 7a teardown offers us a glimpse of its internals

The teardown was shared by PBKreviews who uploaded a video on YouTube. This video offers us a close look at the inner workings of the Pixel 7a model ahead of its official launch on 11th May 2023. Looking at the new video, we can see the device’s plastic rear panel being removed, offering us a look at the wireless charging coil, NFC antenna, and the cameras as well. Underneath this, we can even see the 4,385mAh battery pack that powers the device.

The front half of the device has a copper film to help dissipate heat inside the Pixel 7a. The front also houses a fingerprint scanner on the lower half, while the upper half houses the selfie camera and other necessary sensors like the proximity sensor. The graphite film can also be seen running all around the middle, which also serves the purpose of thermal management. On the rear, we can see dual camera setup on the upper region at the back.

PBKreviews is known to tear apart devices and judges them based on the ease of their repairability. The new Google Pixel 7a got a relatively good score of 7.5 out of 10 in terms of repairability. In other words, the various components of the device, including its display, battery, and other parts, are mostly easy to repair and access. Xiaomi 13 Ultra sits as the top end model from the Chinese tech giant which features various cutting edge technology. It not only features the world’s brightest smartphone display ever, but also features a variable aperture module that is housed on its 50 megapixel quad camera setup on the rear. Talking about the device itself, the 13 Ultra model sports a 6.73 inch AMOLED display that features Dolby Vision certification, 2K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 1,300 nits of peak brightness. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC is paired with 16GB of RAM and 1TB storage. The rear houses a 50 megapixel Sony IMX989 1 inch type primary sensor that has an f/1.9-4.0 variable aperture.

Looking at the teardown video, we can clearly see the RAM and UFS storage module in the teardown video. Furthermore, we can even see Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC that powers the 13 Ultra model. Apart from this chipset, we can even see the brand’s custom Xiaomi P2 chip that handles the device’s power supply.

The hefty cooling mechanism can also be seen with copper alloy materials being situated right below the display. The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is the latest flagship device from the tech giant. While some may be disappointed with the similarity in design to its predecessor, the Galaxy S22 Ultra, Samsung has made some noteworthy refinements that are truly impressive. Whilst the camera setup and the design are the major overhauls this year, one of the major changes is the seamless process of removing the battery, a feature that many tech enthusiasts have been waiting for.

YouTuber Zach from JerryRigEverything put the Galaxy S23 Ultra to the test and was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to dismantle the device with just one hand. In the past, removing the battery from a smartphone was a difficult task, with manufacturers using a lot of adhesive to hold the battery in place. This meant that professionals and novices alike had to use various tools and alcohol to soften the adhesive and carefully remove the battery without rupturing it.

However, with the Galaxy S23 Ultra, Samsung has made this process much simpler. By only requiring the removal of the front glass assembly, wireless charging coil, screws, and ribbon cables, the 5,000mAh battery can be easily accessed and removed in just seconds. Even non-professionals can remove the battery with ease, Zach stated in his video.

While there was a small hiccup during the teardown process where Zach almost tore off the ribbon cable, he claimed that Samsung’s implementation of this change was worth the wait. He even stated that he had been waiting for eight long years for Samsung to make this small but significant improvement.

Nonetheless, the presence of pull-out tabs in the less expensive Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus models gives hope that Samsung will make this feature standard in all of their smartphones, including the highly anticipated Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 set to launch later this year.

The latest smartphone to get deconstructed by Zack for his YouTube channel, JerryRigEverything was the Nubia Red Magic 8 Pro. It has a host of top-of-the-line features at a fraction of the ‘flagship smartphone price’. Surprisingly, it fared quite well during its teardown. 

Upon removing the back cover using heat and suction, the transparent glass was removed, revealing a very interesting design. The phone has an array of RGB LEDs for aesthetic purposes. Interestingly, the phone has T3 screws instead of regular Philips Head screws for aesthetic reasons. The lower loudspeaker is attached to the bottom plastic section of the phone. The upper segment has two parts, the portion containing the upper loudspeaker and the other containing the air duct channel. The metal-air duct channel acts as a heatsink and gets cooled by the air on top of it, thanks to the 2000 RPM cooling fan. The casing is somewhat meshed in order to prevent dust and debris from entering the device, however, it’s definitely not built to keep water out. 

The phone has a dual-cell battery. It was removed without any fuss, with one battery connector unplugged. Zack pointed out that the unplugged connector might be for the China-only variant of the smartphone, which charges at 80W instead of the standard 65W. The camera was still plugged into the motherboard when it was removed, which was interesting. The back of the phone was rich with copious amounts of thermal paste, and a massive copper vapor chamber to regulate the heat. The 2MP macro camera was a little separated from the rest of the camera unit. Apart from the headphone jack at the top, the bottom half housed another vibration motor, making it clear that the device has two vibration motors, possibly for gaming.

The fins on the fan blade are made of translucent plastic. The square contact pads rest on the motherboard of the device. Lastly, the edge-to-edge OLED display was pretty interesting. When the light was shone through the camera unit and light sensors that sit underneath the pixels, the camera sensors were able to compensate for the yellow shift from the lens. When Zack put the phone back together after an intense teardown, the Nubia Red Magic 8 Pro still turned on and functioned perfectly in spite of the destroyed cooling system.

Sony has just released a new video in which it tears down the upcoming PlayStation VR 2 system. The VR headset and its Sense controllers can be seen being taken apart revealing their internal layout and functions. So let’s have a look.

In the official teardown video, we can see that the Japanese tech giant’s Sense controllers are equipped with IR LEDs. The orb shaped controller houses a ring of 14 IR LEDs and three that are placed in the other areas for better tracking. According to Takeshi Igarashi, DualSense controller designer, “These infrared lights are used by the VR headset’s tracking camera to detect the controller’s position and orientation”.

He further explained in the video that “The LEDs have been placed in optimal locations to ensure they are accurately detected no matter what direction the controller is facing,” and that the cover on the controllers are also made of material that ” transmits the infrared light emitted internally to track the movement of the controller.” The video also shows the five capacitive touch sensors on the controller.

Breaking down the headset itself, we get a glimpse of the inside of the headset. This also reveals what it looks like when you turn the adjustment dial. Sony also added that one should not try teardown by yourself. The company stated that taking apart the headset or controllers will invalidate the warranty. The PS VR2 is set to launch on 22nd February 2023.

Tecno unveiled the Phantom X2 Pro smartphone in January 2022. PBKreviews takes us on a journey inside the Tecno Phantom X2 Pro with their latest teardown video. This unique smartphone is known for its retractable telephoto/portrait lens, and now we can get a closer look at its inner workings. 

The video starts by removing the plastic back cover and 17 screws, giving us a glimpse of the cameras and telephoto module. The recycled fiber-plastic back cover is flexible, as shown in the video. As we continue, the mainboard is freed up, revealing the three rear cameras, proximity sensor, LED flash, chipset, RAM, and storage. The NFC antenna surrounds the camera system and the quad-LED flash. The video showcases the protruding portrait lens, which is quite an interesting mechanism. 

The graphite film is then peeled off, which is used to dissipate the heat inside the device. The battery doesn’t come with pull tabs, so a few drops of isopropyl alcohol are used in the video to remove it from the device. The speaker assembly at the bottom is also shown. The video reveals a thin copper vapor chamber below the battery section, which is used to regulate the temperature of the device. The Tecno Phantom X2 Pro earns a combined 4.5/10 repairability score by PBKreviews.

This 5G smartphone boasts a 6.8-inch curved-edge FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, in-screen fingerprint sensor, and is powered by the Dimensity 9000. It features a 32-megapixel selfie camera, 50-megapixel primary camera, 50-megapixel portrait camera with retractable lens, and 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens on the back. The device comes with 256GB UFS 3.1 storage and 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, and is pre-installed with HiOS 12, based on the Android 12 operating system.

Razer’s new Android-powered gaming handheld, the Razer Edge, was launched earlier this January. With its launch, the company is back in the smartphone game. This device boasts a sleek design, as seen in the newest teardown video by PBKreviews. It is essentially a tablet with a detachable Razer Kishi V2 Pro controller, and when clubbed together, it offers a compact, Switch-like gaming handheld device that can play Android and cloud-based games. What sets the Razer Edge apart from a smartphone is the absence of a rear camera. The only camera is located on the front – along the edge of the display, making it suitable for landscape use.

The early stages of the teardown revealed a card slot, which can accommodate both a nanoSIM and microSD card. The device comes in two models — Razer Edge (Wi-Fi) and Razer Edge 5G. The teardown video also highlighted the missing mmWave antenna found in the 5G model since the device in the video featured Wi-Fi 6E connectivity.

The Edge features a combination of passive and active cooling. As seen in the teardown video, a graphite film is placed on the plastic back panel, while mesh-covered vents and a small fan inside work together to pull heat from the chipset. A vapor chamber on the other side of the board expels heat through the display. Concluding the teardown, PBKreviews gave the Razer Edge a repairability score of 6.5/10, citing the limited availability of replacement parts as the main complaint.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon G3X Gen 1 processor, which is built for gaming purposes and promises active cooling during prolonged game sessions. The Razer Edge is currently the only device in the market to be powered by this new chipset. The device packs 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 2TB using a microSD card. The Razer Edge Wi-Fi model is priced at $399.99, while the 5G model is priced at $599.99.

Earlier this year, the OnePlus 10 Pro went through a disastrous durability test where it snapped in two during the bend test. So naturally, one would assume that the company’s second flagship model of this year, the OnePlus 10T, would arrive with improvements in design. Well, you might be disappointed.

The popular tech YouTuber JerryRigEverything shared a new video in which he put the OnePlus 10T model to the durability test. In the video, he put the smartphone through the usual durability tests like scratches, flames, bend, and even a bend test. Unfortunately for the Chinese smartphone maker, its first flagship of this year failed the bend test and had snapped in two.

The YouTuber pointed out that the cause for this is likely structural point of failure beneath the camera module. So, one would naturally assume that the company made changes to this design to improve its structural integrity. However, this scene was almost perfectly mirrored with the OnePlus 10T model as well. The smartphone’s display did survive the level 6 of the Moh’s hardness scale on the front and back, and the flame tests did not leave any permanent mark on the OLED display either.

However, the disappointment surfaced during the bend test. Here, the 10T model snapped in the exact same way as the previous 10 Pro. The frame cracked right under the camera module under pressure. The video showed that Zach was able to completely tear down the smartphone apart from his bare hands. He managed to separate the display from the chasis and even remove the cameras from the device as well. In other words, an impromptu tear down video during a durability test.

Apple had recently announced two new products, namely the Mac Studio and Studio Display. And now, iFixit has released a new tear down video that revealed the internals of the two gadgets.

Looking at the video, we can see the M1 Max powered Mac Studio. In the YouTube, iFixit stated that “If Apple squeezed a Mac Pro into a Mac mini, you’d get something that looks a lot like the new (Mac Studio). Based on a previous teardown, we already know that the Mac Studio’s SSD is not soldered and can be removed. So while iFixit confirmed this, it is still unknown if upgrades are possible. iFixit did find a spare slot on the logic board and put an SSD from another Mac Studio, but that did not work.

On the other hand, RAM is built in and can not upgraded once the user purchases a particular configuration. Another notable aspect noted during the teardown was the massive heatsink. The cooling system relies on a dual fan assembly and the fans are “so much more massive than other Mac fans.” Similarly, they also found that the heatsink “positively dwarfs the M1.” Apart from this, the internals of the Mac Studio are complex, comprising of various brackets, connectors, and torx screws, which impacts repairability (scored 6 out of 10 on repairs) and user accessibility. Although, it was praised for its heat management system.

Arriving at the Studio Display, iFixit also tore apart the Cupertino based giant’s latest productivity based display. In the video, we get a short look of the Studio Display’s internals that looks quite similar to an iMac. The webcam in the Studio Display is similar to the camera on the iPhone 11. Although, this was just a general observation and not a proper breakdown analysis, which will be arriving in the near future.

Just a couple of days ago, Xiaomi-backed Redmi announced its latest Redmi Note 11 series smartphones in China, which went on sale today. Now, the company has officially shared a teardown video of the top-end model in the lineup — Redmi Note 11 Pro+, showcasing the internal structure of the device.

The teardown beings by showcasing the phone’s back panel, which when removed, reveals the internal structure. The majority of space on the smartphone is occupied by the 4,500mAh battery which supports 120W fast charging.

The upper portion houses the processor, storage, and the three camera sensors —  Samsung HM2 108-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel super-wide-angle, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. The 108-megapixel sensor is significantly larger in size compared to the other two sensors. The ultra-wide-angle lens isn’t individually packaged with a metal frame, and the CMOS sensor is directly integrated on the motherboard.

The disassembly of the smartphone also shows JBL symmetrical stereo dual speakers and X-axis linear motors. The speakers come with support Hi-Res Audio as well as Dolby Atmos. The device also comes with VC Liquid Cooling technology to keep the device’s temperature in check during intensive tasks.

The smartphone features a 6.67-inch Samsung AMOLED Full HD+ display and is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 920 chipset, which is coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage.

It runs the Android 11-based MIUI 12.5 out-of-the-box and is powered by a 4,500mAh battery with support for 120W fast charging technology. The 6GB + 128GB model is priced at 1,899 yuan while the 8GB + 128GB model costs 2,099 yuan. The top-end model with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at 2,299 yuan.

The newly launched Redmi Note 11 series smartphones are getting great responses from customers in China. The company managed to sell 500,000 units within an hour of being available for purchase in China.

Apple has just recently launched its 2021 MacBook Pro laptops. And now, iFixit has just released its teardown of the company’s latest laptops. One of the highlighting aspect found during this teardown was the redesigned internals, which allowed for a “DIY-friendly” batter replacement process.

In a recent report iFixit noted that the new MacBook Pro models offers the “first reasonably DIY-friendly battery replacement procedure since 2012.” Furthermore, iFixit added that the Cupertino based giant had traditionally glued the battery of the MacBook Pro to the top case of the notebook. This practice had started with the first Retina MacBook Pro that was launched back in 2012. But in major shift in design, the iPhone maker has now included a battery pull tabs to make the process of replacing batteries easier.

The report stated that usually one would have to get to the battery last as it was difficult to remove. However, this has changed with the latest 14 inch and 16 inch MacBook Pro models. The changes in design doesn’t just stop there as now, the battery pack isn’t stuck under the logic board either. In other words, disassembling the MacBook Pro and having to replace its battery won’t have one go through the process of tearing down the laptop’s primary components. According to iFixit, this is by far one the more “reasonable and do-it-yourself friendly as well internal design that Apple has offered with its MacBook Pro.

The Xiaomi 11T Pro is the latest flagship smartphone from the company that offers top notch features and hardware. Now, a new teardown video offers us a look at the inside of the smartphone revealing its layout.

The disassembly video was shared on YouTube by PBKreviews who tore the device down to showcase its internal and rate its reparability. In the video, the YouTuber found that the smartphone used an abundance of thermal materials used to keep the smartphone cool. These heat dissipation materials include graphite and copper. After opening the back panel the channel found a number of screws that had to be removed before reaching the main internal components like cameras.

The plastic cover above the cameras houses the NFC module, antenna lines, and a large graphene film strip that can be found above the battery pack. Furthermore, the device features a dual battery structure with each module having its own connection cable. Even the motherboard sports its own elaborate cooling system with graphene films, thermal paste, and copper tape that helps keep the thermals of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC low.

Interestingly, the teardown video went on to showcase the smartphone’s reparability. The channel gave the Xiaomi 11T Pro a score of 8 out of 10 in terms of repairs, stating that one doesn’t need to remove too many components to gain access to the screen in case the display gets damaged and needs a replacement. Apart from that, it is clear the Chinese tech giant placed an emphasis on cooling with the plentiful use of thermal materials.

While Xiaomi has just launched the Mi MIX 4, a new video has already surfaced online that shows the smartphone being disassembled, with the teardown revealing the internal components of the new handset.

The teardown was done by popular tech blogger Robin, who shared the video of the disassembly on Weibo (a Chinese microblogging website). Looking at the video we can observe that the smartphone’s body comprises of ceramic and sports a thin metal frame that is housed between the display and the body. This region also makes space for radio signal transmission. The teardown found that the device’s internals are divided into three main regions.

This includes an upper section that houses the SoC, memory modules, camera sensors, 5G antennas, and more. On the other hand, the region in the middle is where the battery is kept, along with the NFC antennas, wireless charging coils, and the dual cell battery. The lower region is made up of the speakers, USB Type C port, and the vibration motor. Notably, we can even see the under display camera of the smartphone in the teardown video.

The hole for this sensor is visible when strong light is passed through it, while another hole can also be observed a bit lower. On the top center of the display is the cutout for the under display camera, while the square shaped cutout is for the proximity and ambient light sensors. With these essential systems being under the display, Xiaomi is able to offer users a complete front screen body. Other notable aspects that can be seen during the tear down is the several heat dissipation sheets, copper foil, and the thermal paste on the SoC.

iFixit has just shared the first part of its two part series in which in tears down the new Apple AirTag smart tracker. In the teardown, iFixit noted that the product has an impressive internal design decision that helped it achieve a compact form factor.

As per the teadown from iFixit, the Cupertino based giant’s smart tracker offering is the smallest in size in comparison to its rivals the Tile Mate and the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag. The iPhone maker achieved this feat through an ‘impressively compact’ design despite the battery taking up the most internal space in the housing. Although, one major difference with the AirTag and other trackers is the lack of a keyring hole, which iFixit stated as one of Apple’s move of “turning essential functions into premium, add-on accessories.”

An x-ray of the three trackers together showcases that the AirTag wasted no internal space for its item tracker, while the Tile Mate and Galaxy SmartTag had been “sprawling” with internal space. Notably, despite both the Tile Mate and Galaxy SmartTag having a large body overall, neither of them offer ultra wideband technology like AirTags. Although, it is worth noting that Samsung has recently launched an ultra widband variant of its Galaxy SmartTag.

Under the hood, all three trackers feature a coin cell replaceable batteries, with the AirTag and the Galaxy SmartTag housing a .66Wh CR2032 battery, while the Tile Mate uses a smaller .39Wh CR1632 battery. iFixit also noted that Apple showcased “surprising restraint in sealing the AirTag,” with replacing the battery being the furthest a customer will be able to reach without proper tooling.

The Black Shark 4 has just been spotted in a recent teardown video. The device was taken apart, which revealed key parts and components of the latest gaming smartphone from the brand.

In a new video from JerryRigEverything, we can observe the internals of the device as Zack methodically breaks down the handset. Since it has a plastic rear panel, the gaming smartphone is easier to open, using heat to get past the adhesive. One of the first thing that can be seen after removing the back panel is the shoulder mounted buttons that works through a magnetic mechanism. As the device is a gaming handset, we can also find a heat pipe that helps dissipate heat that seems to be aluminum rather than copper.

The Black Shark 4 is powered by a large 4,500mAh battery pack that comprises of two separate cells that are combined together. This is easily removed via pull tabs and disconnecting the wires. Zack even disconnects and removes the camera module of the device, including its primary and wide angle lenses. Taking a closer look at the magnetic system for the side mounted trigger buttons, these require three different pieces that move the mechanism that is powered by a magnet.

The Black Shark 4 is a relatively affordable gaming smartphone that starts from under 500 US Dollars. During the teardown Zack also added that its predecessor had one of the most complex internal housings, while this year it had a lot more streamlined and easier teardown experience overall. A few days ago, China-based Xiaomi officially launched its much-awaited high-end smartphones — Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra. Now, just days after the launch, the company has posted the official teardown video of its premium Mi 11 Ultra smartphone.

The disassembly video of the smartphone shows that there is good space utilization on the device. There is a huge camera module in the upper left corner along with layers of NFC, Wireless Charging coils, and Batteries stacked.

Inside those layers is the mainboard which houses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor and LPDDR5 RAM along with UFS 3.1 storage and several other components. There’s also a layer of the heat sink and VC cooling system to make sure that the device doesn’t heat up even during heavy usage.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra comes with a four curved 6.8-inch E4 AMOLED screen on the front with QHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. There’s also Gorilla Glass Victus protection and the screen comes with Dolby Vision support.

There’s also a secondary display at the back that allows users to take high-resolution selfies from its rear cameras. Under the hood, the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, coupled with LPDDR5 RAM.

On the back, there’s a triple camera module with a Samsung GN2 50MP primary shooter, paired with a 48MP Sony IMX586 Ultra Wide and TeleMacro lens. On the front side, there’s a 20MP snapper for taking selfies and video calling.

In the software department, it runs the Android 11 operating system out-of-the-box along with the company’s MIUI on top. As for the battery, the Mi 11 Ultra features a 5000mAh capacity battery with 67W wired and wireless charging.

iFixit has just shared a new teardown video of a smartphone. The new video is for the OnePlus 9 Pro, which apparently could be difficult to repair and receives a 4 out of 10 score on the repairability scale.

In the video, iFixit details the breakdown process that was quite similar to the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, which also did not offer an outstanding repairability process. Just to get to the battery, the expert had to deal with various cables before they could disconnect the battery. The rear panel is also glued on with an adhesive to make it air tight.

Although, the device does have a slight edge over the Galaxy S21 Ultra as it offers two handy pull tabs on its two batteries, which makes them easier to remove. Furthermore, the OnePlus 9 Pro’s quad camera system can only be removed when the batteries are taken out. Thus, for the most part, the device’s repairability does not change in comparison to its predecessor the OnePlus 8 Pro.

iFixit concluded the teardown by saying that “Its easily removable battery and relatively modular construction are always great to see, but its glued-on rear panel is a barrier to entry and repair making matters worse. Its display requires a lot of disassembly to access and will be a pain to remove if it breaks, thanks to tenacious adhesive and curved edges.” Hence, the latest flagship from the Chinese tech giant has received a score of 4 out of 10 on the YouTuber’s repairability list, which is one point higher than the Galaxy S21 Ultra and on par with the base Galaxy S21.

While the Realme X7 Pro made its debut back in September 2020, the device has only launched in India last month. Now, the company has officially released a teardown video for the newly launched smartphone.

On the Chinese tech giant’s official YouTube channel, the company shared a teardown video for the Realme X7 Pro. Since this is an official teardown video, the device was handled with care, unlike the teardown videos that are seen from popular teardown experts like Zack Nelson of JerryRigEverything, as per a GSMArena report. This can be seen in particular when see tools like the heating plate being used.

Eventually, the back panel is removed, offering us an look into the internal components of the device. After which, the Realme representative proceeds to remove the screws and the battery, before taking out the camera as well. During this, we are also told that how the company’s research and development process for the X7 Pro took around eight months with an additional 400 hours of color tuning to perfect.

At the moment, the Realme X7 Pro is priced at India for 29,999 INR (roughly 413 US Dollars) for its single configuration variant, namely the 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Notably, 60 percent of all components used in the handset has been sourced and manufactured in India (including the battery). Looking at the video, it can be observed that the battery is rather easy to remove, which is great considering various OEMs have recently resorted to gluing the battery pack onto the smartphones. While the display features a curved edge, it seemingly is easy to remove as well.

As per the AndroidHeadlines report, the smartphone maker also highlights certain features of the device. Previously, the Xiaomi flagship was also seen in a JerryRigEverything video, where it aced the durability test. So we can surmise that the company pair extra attention to internal layout and endurance of the Mi 11 build. iFixit has recently took apart a new device. It was the Samsung Galaxy S21, which received a repairability rating of 4 out of 10. Despite such a modest result, the flagship was still better than its predecessor the Galaxy S20.

While iFixit never officially posted an official rating for the Galaxy S20, the South Korean tech giant’s latest flagship is clearly more easier to repair, as per a GSMArena report. Looking at the video, it can be observed that the plastic back is easier to remove than a glass panel. Furthermore, the flat display is also easier to remove as well, which is also now made to be detachable. The reasons for the relatively low score is the difficulty in removing the battery and the display.

Samsung also glues the batteries in the Galaxy S21, rather than having a pull tab that makes it easier. The tear down also offers interesting side by side shots of the new fingerprint scanner as well. We can observe that the Galaxy S20 Ultra featured a much larger a sensor that covered more surface area under the hood.

Apple recently launched the AirPods Max headphones in the market, expanding the portfolio of its audio offerings under the popular AirPods lineup. Now, weeks after the device getting launched, iFixit has completed its teardown.

In the teardown overview report, iFixit discovered some interesting details. However, the most surprising thing is the repairability score of six out of ten. This is the only AirPods product has doesn’t have a repairability score of zero.

It is a well known fact that companies prefer that customers only reach out to them or their authorized partners for repairs of their smartphones. Apple takes an aggressive approach to this philosophy with near impossible third party repairs. Now, it seems that Huawei might have also unintentionally made repairs of the Huawei Mate 40 Pro impossible as well after a recent iFixit teardown revealed a mess of its components on the inside.

Generally, smartphones with glass on the front and back are usually more likely to face more visible damage from hard drops. However, this also makes it harder for repairs as well, since trying to pry off the glass panels might cause them to break. iFixit tried to remove the Mate 40 Pro’s back panel by heating, prying and even slicing, although, the screen wasn’t as easy. This already makes the repairs for the most commonly broken part of Huawei flagship’s quite difficult and even expensive.

The issues with repairs don’t just stop there as the teardown discovered that the layout of the internal components also makes repairs hard. Due to the messy placements of certain parts, like the hidden flex cable that iFixit experts accidently cut off due to its close proximity to the power button. While OEMs sometimes focusing on packing the components neatly like art, it seems like Huawei just dumped the internal components into the housing and crammed everything in, as per a SlashGear report.

Notably, iFixit didn’t just find negative aspects for repairs, with many parts being modular and easier for replacing in case of damage. Even the top speaker and the periscopic telephoto camera are also modular. So, switching out damaged components is easier, although, that depends on if one can get this deep enough for repairs without breaking anything in the first place. iFixit gave the Huawei Mate 40 Pro a 4 out of 10 in terms of repairability, which is even below the Apple iPhone 12 series.

Apple has been trying to reduce its dependence on China as much as possible. While the company’s contract manufacturers are expanding production in other countries, such as India, the tech giant’s list of suppliers is also changing.

In a recent teardown of the newly launched iPhone 12 Pro, it is found that components made by South Korean companies account for almost 27 percent of the phone’s value. This indicates a significant increase of 9.1 percent points compared to last year.

It’s noteworthy that the share of South Korean-made components is more than the total combined share of parts made in the United States. The report reveals that the cost of a high-end iPhone 12 Pro is $406 and components from South Korea and the United States account for 26.8 percent and 21.9 percent by value, respectively.

This is mainly because of the company’s decision to adopt OLED screen panels for the new iPhone models, which are supplied by Samsung Display and LG Display, both from South Korea and leaders in the category.

Apart from the OLED panels, Samsung is also supplying memory chips to Apple for the iPhone 12 models. Another key supplier for the company is Japan-based Sony that provides three camera lenses, priced around $5.4 or $7.4 each.

Coming to the battery, it is reported that the phone’s battery capacity has been cut by 10 percent, likely to make space for additional parts as the iPhone now comes with support for 5G connectivity. The battery cells are supplied by Amperex Technology Ltd. (ATL), which is a Hong Kong-based subsidiary of Japan’s TDK.

Chinese-made components accounted for less than 5 percent of the total by value. This could be because of the rising trade tensions amid the US-China trade war. Because of that, Apple is trying to move out production to other regions.

A teardown of the newly launched Apple Mac Mini offers a real world look at the company’s new custom made M1 chip. The new Apple Silicon is soldered onto a smaller logic board than its 2018 counterpart.

The teardown had just recently surfaced and was shared on Reddit. Looking at the images, the M1 is the silver chip as seen in the images. It is labeled with APL1102 and features a 8 core CPU and 8 core GPU along with a 16 core Neural Engine, I/O controllers, and more. Furthermore, the unified system memory is also visible on the right side of the chip, which takes up lesser space than a traditional RAM stick used in previous Mac mini models that helps in making the logic board smaller, as per the MacRumors report.

Although the smaller size also has its own issues. With the unified system memory, users can no longer consider upgrading their RAM, which was possible in the previous Mac mini. Similarly, the SSD storage is also soldered to the logic board, so internal storage is not upgradeable either.

Microsoft recently launched its much-awaited Surface Duo smartphone which comes with dual displays and is powered by the Android operating system. The device has already passed JerryRigEverything’s Durability test and today we will be taking a look inside the device, thanks to the teardown video.

The first thing you notice about the phone is the dual displays and holding them together is the hinge. JerryRigsEveryhting says that the hinge on the device is pretty awesome and offers 360-degree functionality.

Removing the display panels showcases the phone’s internals. You will notice that the device packs two batteries — one larger that covers the majority of the space and another smaller one, which cannot be easily replaced by the user.

Once the batteries are removed, the area is covered by a layer of graphite tape, removing which shows copper foil underneath for heat dissipation. The frame for the hinge is made of up metal and connecting both the displays is a metal wire stip that runs through hinges, ensuring durability when the folded.

Internally, the Surface Duo seems pretty good in terms of make and build but has room for improvement when it comes to repairability. JerryRigEverthing has given a thumbs up for the device in his teardown video.

The Microsoft Surface Duo has also proved its durability. It emerged as one of the best foldable smartphones available in the market right now as it could be bent to the back and front without damage to the screen.

The Asus Zenfone 7 Pro is the company’s latest flagship device, which was recently seen in a new teardown video. This disassembly reveals the smartphone’s internals, revealing the new flip up camera design.

The video was shared on YouTube by PBKreviews, and it showcases the device being taken part. In the video, one can observe that the motor that powers the flip mechanism is housed within the camera module, which is different from the Zenfone 6 that had it’s motor housed next to the camera module and not built into it. Apart from this not a lot of unique design changes have been made on the internals.

iFixit recently published a new teardown article of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra. In the article, we see a detailed look into the internals of the South Korean tech giant’s latest flagship series, with a surprising discovery that explains why the device’s run hot during intensive tasks.

iFixit discovered that both the Ultra and base variants are missing the vaper chamber and copper heat pipes for cooling, which the company did equip in its predecessors to offer good thermal management during extended gaming sessions. As a replacement, Samsung added a multi layered graphite thermal pad inside both smartphones, which was also found by JerryRigEverything.

However, it might be a cause for concern for some, since reviews have shown the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra running hot, regardless of the intensity of usage. So, it is advised to find out which cooling variant of the Galaxy Note 20 series if one is planning on buying the latest flagship.

The newly launched OnePlus Nord made its way to iFixit, which recently uploaded a teardown video of the affordable 5G smartphone. The YouTube video had the handset be disassembled, revealing cut corners that have made it easier to repair.

At the moment, OnePlus Nord is one of the most affordable 5G smartphones in the market. But with the non-premium price tag comes a few areas that had to be downgraded. While most OnePlus smartphone models in the past couple of years sport a glass on metal rear cover, the Nord features a cheaper glass on plastic panel. However, this makes it easier to pry open, rather than requiring dangerous levels of heat application to loosen the adhesive.

After removing the rear pane, iFixit found a good number of screws, which were all the same size, length, and kind. In other words, they required only a single Philips screwdriver to remove. Furthermore, the expert also noted that everything is modular and easy to replace, with even the battery pack having an easy to use pull tab. Interestingly, the teardown revealed a generous use of rubber gaskets around connectors for waterproofing. This means that OnePlus did offer some protection against water despite the device not having an official IP rating, which the company previously stated to be expensive.

iFixit gave the device an overall score of 6 out of 10, with the main drawback being the display which is still glued down hard and a rather bothersome method of removing the battery. Although, apart from these issues, the OnePlus Nord still received a positive review in the YouTube video, which you can check out above.

A new teardown of Huawei devices has revealed that the company had to replace the US made parts with unknown Chinese ones. This replacement was caused after the US ban, where the Chinese tech giant was barred from using products made by America based companies.

According to a new report, a Tokyo teardown specialist by the name of Fomalhaut Techno Solutions opened up Huawei’s flagship Mate 30. The teardown was done to analyze the internals of the smartphone, which revealed various parts from different Chinese firms. For those unaware, the Mate 30 is a part of Huawei’s flagship series and boasts top notch specs but arrives with vanilla Android without Google services due to the ban.

After the ban, only 1 percent of the internal components value of the Huawei smartphone comprised of US made parts. This number is a sharp decline from the previously reported 11 percent. Thus, it seems that Huawei had to forcibly shift suppliers for various parts. Currently, Huawei handsets ship without Google services and feature its own proprietary HMS (Huawei mobile services) and AppGallery.

At the same time, the Chinese tech giant is also racing to ready its HarmonyOS (HongMengOS in China). Despite the loss of Google support, Huawei is doing quite well in China, even during the coronavirus pandemic. However, the same cannot be said for the overseas market, where Google services are almost synonymous with the Android operating system.

Xiaomi‘s Black Shark 3 Pro has just undergone a teardown from JerryRigEverything, the popular YouTube tech content creator. The new video shows an interestingly unique internal design and layout of the device and also highlights the big heat pipes that help keep the gaming smartphone cooler.

Peering into the insides, the Xiaomi Black Shark 3 Pro has two thick copper heat pipes that are connected to the metal shields on top of the CPU. To even get to this point, one must remove the bow tie shaped back panel, a design that has never been seen before. Notably, most smartphone OEMs follow relatively similar internal layouts, as they are the most efficient ways to pack in all the hardware.

However, we have to keep in mind that gaming smartphones require a few additional touches for thermal performance, so a unique new design is welcomed as well. Right off the bat, the back panel is noticeably smaller considering a few of the outer designs meld into the battery pack (referring to the angular design on the back). To remove the motherboard or even reach the battery pack, the front display had to be unmounted as well.

Typically, most, if not all internal components can be found or removed from just the rear panel, but this unique layout manages to utilize the smartphone’s angular design to a great degree. Once the motherboards is out, the most notable aspect are the two thick copper heat pipes that wrap around both sides of it. This essentially completely covers the processor and other crucial parts enabling better thermals.

On the other hand, Xiaomi uses twin battery pack systems that surround the motherboard on both sides. This means that Xiaomi charges both the batteries separately to achieve the advertised 65W fast charging rates on the Black Shark 3 Pro. Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has just released the official teardown video of its latest flagship, the Mi 10 Pro. The video offers a look inside the internal structure of the smartphone and also provides a brief explanation with texts and images.

Starting from the rear, Xiaomi reveals the internals of the device by removing the back panel of the device. After removing the glue that binds the rear cover to the body, two large foam rubbers can be observed at the top and bottom of the device. These primarily serve the purpose of protection from fall damage and accidents. Furthermore, a large portion of the internals is also covered with thermally conductive graphite which is found in the region that has the motherboard. Other components like NFC coils and wireless charging technology can also be seen.

The speakers of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro are housed symmetrically on the top and bottom of the device. It features a magnetic steel design and arrives with a 1.22cc large cavity, which enables a better stereo audio experience. Notably, the Mi 10 Pro’s speakers are said to have improved on the volume levels over its previous generations by 100 percent.

After removing the motherboard cover, the actual board and the Mi 10 Pro’s battery pack is made visible. The main board area uses a double layer motherboard design, meaning a smaller board being stacked upon the primary board to save space, and is found on the left side. On the right, the large 4,500mAh battery pack can be found and is housed on a middle frame, which also takes up most of the internal space. Under the battery pack, an ultra thin optical fingerprint scanner is situated, which is used for the in display fingerprint reading whilst saving previous internal space.

Once the rear camera cover is removed, one can also see the entire quad camera module of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro. As seen in the images, its 108 megapixel camera is the largest sensor and is conveniently placed in the middle. Other components, like LED flash and a laser focusing module, are also present that allows for better visibility and focusing speed in low light environments. On the other hand, the Mi 10 Pro sports a 20 megapixel selfie shooter on the front.

With the Mi 10 Pro, Xiaomi has adopted a unique 360 degree front and rear dual light sensor technology. In other words, the handset is better equipped in detecting light sources and the ambient lighting in its surroundings. This enables a better camera performance whilst also making the automatic screen brightness adjustment more intelligent and proactive.

The motherboard of the flagship smartphone uses an “L” shaped design with copper foils and the graphite shield. Its upper regions contain the newly developed Wi-Fi 6 chip while the middle holds the power management module and audio decoding technology. The bottom of the motherboard houses a radio frequency chip.  Additionally, this portion also features a few of the highlighting components of the Mi 10 Pro. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 SoC alongside the X55 5G modem is housed here. The pair of LPDDR5 flash memory and UFS 3.0 storage also enables class leading read and write speeds as well as fast data transfer capabilities.

With the Mi 10 Pro, Xiaomi has completely revamped its internal layout that manages to include an X axis linear vibration motor in the compact space while still catering for heat dissipation. To protect from heat related damages, the handset has built in VC soaking plate, 6 layers of graphite structure, large amounts of copper foil and thermally conductive gel as well. This VC protection layer extends across the power management chip and the 5G modem, covering an area of 3,000 square millimeters.

For added protection, it had a built in matrix temperature sensor and other temperate sensors spread across the device as well. This allows the Mi 10 Pro to accurately map heat in different regions in real time, including the 5G modem, the processor, battery pack, charging interface and more. Through this, the AI temperature control module automatically finds a suitable temperature by controlling device’s power output and performance simultaneously. In other words, a technological marvel which one may never really notice.

Foldable smartphones are becoming mainstream and even though it carries an expensive price tag, such devices seem to be in-demand. While the build quality has improved from what companies offered last year, there’s still concern about the same because of how expensive such devices are.

The focus is currently on the newly launched Samsung Galaxy Z Flip smartphone and from what we’ve seen so far, it seems that the device is not easy to crack. iFixit recently shared a video teardown of the phone, showing the phone’s internals and revealing its build.

Samsung has been advertising its new “fiber shield” hinge which intends to trap stray dust and keep it from getting inside the smartphone. While the phone does have this new type of hinges, the working isn’t as good and impressive as what Samsung made it look.

Folks at iFixit dropped the foldable smartphone it into a bag of purple dust, they took the phone out and shook out the dust but despite this, some dust got inside the Galaxy Z Flip and it even stopped the hinge from fully opening.

As this is not a situation that you will face in your regular usage, the company may have designed the phone just keeping the real-time scenarios in mind and the fiber shield hinges are for repelling day-to-day pocket lint.

Also, it’s noteworthy that the company clearly says that the smartphone is not water and dust resistant and the same warning shows up on the screen when you first turn on the Galaxy Z Flip.

There are a few other teardown videos on the internet which shows that the screen is prone to marks and scratches just like a plastic screen but the company is advertising the screen to be glass. Samsung clarified that the display is indeed glass, but has a “protective layer” on top.

When that protective layer is removed, the screen stops working. This is similar to the original Galaxy Fold which wouldn’t work when the protector was peeled off, sparking concerns about its build and forcing Samsung to delay its launch.

Overall, it is evident that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is an impressive device as far as engineering is concerned. However, the device does have some flaws in terms of design and build, which could lead to durability issues.

Xiaomi recently launched the premium mid-range smartphone under its Mi CC lineup, dubbed as Mi CC9 Pro. The same smartphone has been made available in the global markets as the Mi Note 10.

The highlight of the smartphone is that it comes with five camera sensors, a 5,260mAh battery as well as a 1cc speaker chamber. The teardown video shows how this was made possible by the company to fit together.

Once the back glass panel is peeled off, we can see that there are a few layers of components which include NFC antenna, a graphite sheet to spread the heat from the chipset and an additional cover supporting the cameras.

This houses the quad LED flash as well as the Laser auto focus system along with an ambient light sensor to adjust the camera’s color temperature. Then there’s a penta-camera setup and as we can see, the 108-megapixel sensor is pretty large and this module is a custom version of Samsung’s ISOCELL HMX sensor.

The first lens in the rear-facing camera system of the phone is a 4-axis OIS assisted 5-megapixel super telephoto lens that supports 5x optical zoom, 10x hybrid zoom and 50x hybrid zoom. Next is a 12-megapixel portrait sensor with a pixel size of 1.4micon. The third sensor is the Samsung-made 108-megapixel main sensor with f/1.7 aperture and 4-axis OIS. Next comes a 20-megapixel ultra-wide lens with 117-degree field-of-view. The fifth one is a 2-megapixel macro lens with a focal length of 1.5cm.

Finally, coming to the small-sized motherboard, we can see that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G processor along with LPDDR4X RAM, UFS 2.1 storage and various other chips, including the 30W fast charging hardware.

Interestingly, Xiaomi managed to fit a 5,260mAh battery in the smartphone that too without resorting to L-shaped batteries like Apple uses. For those who are unaware, Apple has used L-shaped 4,000mAh battery for the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Below the battery, there’s a 1cc loudspeaker chamber and the 3.5mm headphone jack to its side. With all these components, there’s no room for the traditional in-display fingerprint sensor, thus, the company opted for an ultra-thin reader which is just 0.3mm thick and made possible by a micro-lens with micro-collimation technology.
