OnePlus announces ‘The Lab’ program ahead of the OnePlus 8 series launch. Just like previous years, the company will be shipping 10 units of its upcoming phones to select applicants based on the evaluation. These individuals will then have to present an unbiased review of this forthcoming smartphone.

‘The Lab’ program by OnePlus was first introduced for the OnePlus 5T in 2017. Since then, the company has revived this program for almost all the phones it has launched for. Like the previous iterations of the program, it is open for all, including non-OnePlus users as well as those whose are not a member of OnePlus Community. However, the company has reserved six of the ten spots for the OnePlus Community members.

According to OnePlus, the applicants will be judged by their writing, photography and videography skills, creativity and demographic diversity. Selected applicants will receive a new OnePlus 8 series device well before the launch so that they could start working on their reviews. The chosen individuals will be also asked to attend an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session to share their experience with the handset after 21 days from when they had received the device. Their reviews will also have to be submitted at this same time. If a reviewer passes the evaluation set by OnePlus, they will be allowed to keep the phone for themselves. Also, they will be presented with a custom-made ‘The Lab’ special edition case.
