According to the Chinese smartphone maker, the data was from the known analytics/market research based firm, Counterpoint Research, who found that Realme’s smartphone shipments reached 15 million in the second quarter of this year. This marked a whopping 135.1 percent increase year on year. The shipments even propelled the brand into the fourth spot as a Chinese OEM and had it enter the top 6 rank globally for the first time ever.

The report further added that the company is the world’s fastest growing smartphone brand with sales of 100 million units. In Q2 2021, Realme ranked first in the Philippines and Bangladesh, fourth in India, and fifth in Europe. During this same period, it even managed to record a sales increase of a massive 1,006 percent year on year in the Chinese market. This also made it as the fastest growing smartphone maker in the first half of the year.

Furthermore, the company’s market share of 5G handsets also grew from 8.8 percent in the first quarter to 15.9 percent in the second quarter. In this category, Realme ranked third. The company also stated that the company has set its next goal, which is to achieve a “double 100 million” by the end of 2022.
Apple and Samsung have the most loyal fanbase globally who retain the brands’ models in succession. However, a new report showing the top 10 Android phone brands with the highest retention rate in China has emerged. Of course, the list is devoid of the likes of Apple and Samsung which are struggling in the world’s second-largest market presently. Instead, Huawei‘s Mate series emerged as the phone model with the highest retention rate of 55.01%. The Mate series has seen tremendous improvement in design and hardware over the years. The flagship model sells massively even outside China.

The Mate series is followed by Xiaomi‘s Mi Max series with a retention rate of 47.49%. The Huawei P series comes in at the third position with a retention rate of 47.06%. Also in the top ten is the Xiaomi Mi Note Series, Xiaomi Digital Series, Huawei Maimang Series, Xiaomi MIX Series, Redmi Note Series, Vivo Y Series and Vivo X Series. Interestingly, Xiaomi is yet to update the Mi Note and Max series for a while now and may not do so this year.

The list is dominated by just three brands and it is no surprise that the three brands are currently among the top 5 Chinese phone makers in terms of shipment volume.
