<p>While the Apple <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-iphone-14">iPhone 14 series</a> is yet to go official, reports about the upcoming lineup from the company have surfaced online, <a href="https://twitter.com/mingchikuo/status/1509186100719669250">revealing</a> that the rumored Touch ID support for the iPhone isn&#8217;t coming anytime soon.</p>
<figure id="attachment_449945" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-449945" style="width: 1024px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-449945 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-iPhone-14-Pro-3.jpg?x96852" alt="Apple iPhone 14 Pro" width="1024" height="922" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-iPhone-14-Pro-3.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-iPhone-14-Pro-3-300x270.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-iPhone-14-Pro-3-768x692.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-iPhone-14-Pro-3-696x627.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-iPhone-14-Pro-3-466x420.jpg 466w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-449945" class="wp-caption-text">Apple iPhone 14 Pro Render</figcaption></figure>
<p>Last month, Apple was granted a patent for an under-display fingerprint reader, leading to speculation about the iPhone models to soon get the support for under-display <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/touch-id">Touch ID</a>.</p>
<p>Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known Apple analyst, had reported earlier this year that the company could introduce iPhone with an <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/under-display-fingerprint-sensor">under-display Touch ID</a> in 2023 but now he doesn&#8217;t think that is happing any longer.</p>
<p>He believes that the next couple of iterations for smartphones, i.e. iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 launching in 2023 and 2024 won&#8217;t have under-display fingerprint sensor support and Face ID will be the only biometric option to unlock the device.</p>
<p>As for the major changes this year, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max are getting rid of the notch on top of the screen for a pill-shaped cutout. The camera sensor is also expected to get <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/03/28/apple-iphone-14-pro-larger-camera-sensor-rumors/">bumped up from 12MP to 48MP</a>.</p>
<p>It is also being said that the company is trying to make the non-Pro and Pro models of the Apple iPhone 14 series significantly different in terms of specifications. As per the reports, there will be four models getting launched this year &#8212; iPhone 14, 14 Max, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-iphone-14-pro">14 Pro</a>, and 14 Pro Max. To know for sure what the devices offer, we will have to wait for the official launch set to take place later this year.</p>

<p><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p>
<p>Around five years ago, it was rumored that <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/Apple">Apple</a> was departing from the iconic design that featured thick bezels on the top and bottom, with the bottom one housing a round Touch ID button (via <a href="https://www.macrumors.com/2022/01/31/iphone-x-design-with-touch-id-rumors/">MacRumors</a>). Questions were raised about where the fingerprint authentication would be placed, but Apple eventually unveiled Face ID, ditching Touch ID completely.</p>
<p>However, rumors at the time had suggested that Apple would be sticking with Touch ID and implementing it at the rear of the device or even under the display. Some really consistent series of leaks had seemed to prove so &#8212; they showed an iPhone X with slimmer top and bottom bezels and an aluminum rear with a round Touch ID sensor.</p>
<p>The widespread and consistent nature of such leaks had led many to believe that Apple itself was behind them, seeking to lower customer expectations. And that&#8217;s exactly what Ben Geskin has once again brought up through his tweet.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-440918 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/iphone-7s.jpg?x96852" alt="iphone 7s" width="433" height="641" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/iphone-7s.jpg 433w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/iphone-7s-203x300.jpg 203w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/iphone-7s-284x420.jpg 284w" sizes="(max-width: 433px) 100vw, 433px" /></p>
<p>The tweet quotes another about the sale of an &#8220;iPhone 7s Plus Galactic Silver 64GB&#8221; for $125. It&#8217;s unclear if the device is a dummy or an actual working prototype iPhone. But the latter seems unlikely because if the device had indeed been the real deal, there&#8217;s no way it would&#8217;ve been sold at such a giveaway price. A fake Android with the body of an iPhone could be another possibility but it&#8217;s difficult to know for sure.</p>
<p>Flagship iPhones have been lacking Touch ID functionality for around five years now but Apple is rumored to be bringing it back. Reports did suggest that the company tested under-display fingerprint sensors for the iPhone 13 series, but Apple apparently chose to stick with Face ID for another year. Thus, it&#8217;s possible that fingerprint authentication is set to make a return soon with a future iPhone.</p>

In the latest development, Mark Gurman from <em>Bloomberg</em> reveals details about iPhone with Touch ID.</p>
<p>In the <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/account/newsletters/power-on"><em>Power On</em> newsletter</a>, he says that Apple won&#8217;t be launching iPhone 13 with an in-screen fingerprint sensor or Touch ID this year. He adds that the Cupertino-based tech giant has a &#8220;long-term goal&#8221; for adding Face ID under the display.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-405346 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Apple-iPhone-13-to-bring-Potrait-Mode-and-ProRes-for-videos.jpg?x96852" alt="Apple iPhone 13 to bring Potrait Mode and ProRes for videos" width="1024" height="507" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Apple-iPhone-13-to-bring-Potrait-Mode-and-ProRes-for-videos.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Apple-iPhone-13-to-bring-Potrait-Mode-and-ProRes-for-videos-300x149.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Apple-iPhone-13-to-bring-Potrait-Mode-and-ProRes-for-videos-768x380.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Apple-iPhone-13-to-bring-Potrait-Mode-and-ProRes-for-videos-324x160.jpg 324w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Apple-iPhone-13-to-bring-Potrait-Mode-and-ProRes-for-videos-696x345.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Apple-iPhone-13-to-bring-Potrait-Mode-and-ProRes-for-videos-848x420.jpg 848w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>It seems to be clear that Apple is sticking with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/face-id">Face ID</a> as it has a long-term commitment for the technology but there&#8217;s a possibility of iPhones getting Touch ID, at least for the low-end models from the brand. But it isn&#8217;t happening this year.</p>
<p>Mark Gurman says that there are two possible scenarios &#8212; high-end iPhone models with in-display Face ID and low-end models with Face ID sensors housed inside a notch on top of the display, similar to what Apple is currently offering.</p>
<p>On the other hand, the company could offer an in-display Face ID for the high-end models while the low-end models could feature <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/touch-id">Touch ID</a> houses inside the display.</p>
<p>The Apple iPhone 13 lineup is expected to come with a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/03/02/apple-iphone-13-pro-120hz-display-smaller-notch/">slightly smaller notch</a> and will have a 120Hz refresh rate in the Pro variants. It is also being reiterated that the company will also be offering a 1TB internal storage model this time.</p>
<p>It is also claimed to have support for <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/5g">mmWave 5G</a> for countries outside of the United States. The phones are said to come with the space-saving internal circuitry, which should allow the company to offer a larger battery inside the device.</p>
<p>A recent report claims that the new iPhones will come with support for 25W fast charging technology, a slight upgrade from the current 22W charging. It is also expected to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/07/23/apple-iphone-13-lineup-will-feature-lidar-scanner-and-up-to-1tb-of-storage/">come with a LiDAR scanner</a>.</p>
<p>The upcoming flagship smartphone series from Apple will come with notable hardware upgrades. It points out to a faster and more power-efficient <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-a15">A15 Bionic chipset</a> manufactured using TSMC&#8217;s 5nm+ process.</p>
<p>So far, Apple has not announced the launch date for this upcoming iPhone series but reports indicate that the devices <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/08/18/apple-iphone-13-september-launch/">could go official in the third week of September</a>. To know for sure, we&#8217;ll have to wait for a few more days.</p>

<p>The Cupertino based giant had filed the patent with the <a href="https://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect2=PTO1&amp;Sect2=HITOFF&amp;p=1&amp;u=/netahtml/PTO/search-bool.html&amp;r=1&amp;f=G&amp;l=50&amp;d=PALL&amp;RefSrch=yes&amp;Query=PN/11073712" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>USPTO</em></a>, which was regarding camera sensors being embedded under the display. The patent also describes that these sensors will be used for biometric authetication systems, namely Touch ID and Face ID. Apple stated that the current iPhone design has the image sensors be placed next to the display with the notch. But, future generations will arrive with these cameras being housed underneath the display.</p>
<p>The iPhone maker added that this system can be used for both Face ID and Touch ID. Although, employing both security systems together might please more customers. Notably, we had recently also reported on the company <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/07/26/face-id-apple-mac-arrive-in-couple-of-years/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">reportedly planning on bringing Face ID to its Macs</a> as well within the next couple of years. The earlier iterations of the under screen solution had faced a lot of issues like degraded quality, however, improved versions have made it to the commercial market in certain smartphones.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-359706 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/39273-75116-000-lead-Touch-ID-in-screen-xl.jpg?x96852" alt="Apple" width="870" height="485" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/39273-75116-000-lead-Touch-ID-in-screen-xl.jpg 870w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/39273-75116-000-lead-Touch-ID-in-screen-xl-300x167.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/39273-75116-000-lead-Touch-ID-in-screen-xl-768x428.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/39273-75116-000-lead-Touch-ID-in-screen-xl-696x388.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/39273-75116-000-lead-Touch-ID-in-screen-xl-753x420.jpg 753w" sizes="(max-width: 870px) 100vw, 870px" /></p>
<p>Keep in mind that this is still just a patent and we have no way of confirming if the brand is actually working on such a system or is simply covering all bases. If it is being developed, we can expect it to make its way to multiple Apple products like MacBooks and iPads, apart from just the iPhones.</p>

<p>As <a href="https://appleinsider.com/articles/21/01/29/apple-reportedly-testing-in-screen-touch-id-for-the-next-iphone">per the latest reports</a>, Apple is testing a new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/touch-id">Touch ID</a> technology. Given that most of the premium smartphones launching these days come with an in-display fingerprint sensor, it seems that Apple could also jump the bandwagon.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-363846 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Apple-iPhone-12-All-Colors-Featured.jpg?x96852" alt="Apple iPhone 12 All Colors Featured" width="4000" height="2375" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Apple-iPhone-12-All-Colors-Featured.jpg 4000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Apple-iPhone-12-All-Colors-Featured-300x178.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Apple-iPhone-12-All-Colors-Featured-768x456.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Apple-iPhone-12-All-Colors-Featured-1024x608.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Apple-iPhone-12-All-Colors-Featured-696x413.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Apple-iPhone-12-All-Colors-Featured-1068x634.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Apple-iPhone-12-All-Colors-Featured-707x420.jpg 707w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Apple-iPhone-12-All-Colors-Featured-1920x1140.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 4000px) 100vw, 4000px" /></p>
<p>The company is reportedly testing the in-display Touch ID. Previously, it was reported that Apple could bring <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/in-display">in-display</a> fingerprint sensors to the upcoming iPhones and the latest report indicates that the company is making progress towards that.</p>
<p>However, Apple isn&#8217;t expected to replace the Face ID. Reports coming from WSJ based on the information of two employees of Apple, who remain anonymous, both &#8212; Touch ID and Face ID will be present in the upcoming iPhone model.</p>
<p>While optical <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/fingerprint-sensor">fingerprint sensor</a> could be more reliable compared to the existing ultrasonic sensor used by the company, Apple isn&#8217;t expected to use the latest optical sensor unless they are as secure as the current version.</p>
<p>Apple is using Touch ID only on one smartphone these days &#8212; <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-se-2020/">iPhone SE</a>. However, the fingerprint sensor is also available on MacBook devices. Interestingly, on iPad Air 4, the company shifted the sensor from the screen to the sleep/wake button on the side.</p>

Recently, the company added two more models to the lineup &#8212; <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/15/apple-watch-series-6-launched-alongside-the-cheaper-279-watch-se/">Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE</a>. The company has been adding more and more features to the smartwatches, ensuring they remain the market leader.</p>
<p>In line with that, it seems that Apple is now exploring the idea of adding <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/touch-id">Touch ID</a> to the Apple Watch, along with an under-display camera sensor. The company has filed a patent for the same, titled &#8220;Electronic device having sealed button biometric sensing system.&#8221; This was <a href="https://www.patentlyapple.com/patently-apple/2020/12/apple-wins-patent-for-a-touch-id-button-for-apple-watch.html">spotted by <em>Patently Apple</em></a>.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-360475 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Apple-Watch-Touch-ID.jpg?x96852" alt="Apple Watch Touch ID Patent" width="802" height="457" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Apple-Watch-Touch-ID.jpg 802w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Apple-Watch-Touch-ID-300x171.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Apple-Watch-Touch-ID-768x438.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Apple-Watch-Touch-ID-696x397.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Apple-Watch-Touch-ID-737x420.jpg 737w" sizes="(max-width: 802px) 100vw, 802px" /></p>
<p>The patent says that the Touch ID, which is basically Apple&#8217;s terms for the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/fingerprint-sensor">fingerprint sensor</a>, can be embedded into the side button on the Watch, allowing users to have biometric authentication for unlocking the device as well as for making purchases.</p>
<p>There&#8217;s <a href="https://appleinsider.com/articles/20/12/15/future-apple-watch-or-iphone-may-gain-a-camera-thats-completely-hidden-when-not-in-use">another patent</a> filed by Apple titled &#8220;Electronic devices with two-stage display,&#8221; reports <em>Apple Insider</em>. It reveals how the company is planning to layer the display panels to include a camera and a flash, which are visible only when needed.</p>

<p>It showcases that one layer will have a pixel array for displaying images while the outer layer will have an array of light modulator cells that can become transparent or block out light when needed to allow the camera to function.</p>
<p>The technology proposed by Apple for the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/under-display-camera">under-display camera</a> should also be working for other devices, including iPhones and iPad, but interestingly, the patent is only focusing on the Apple Watch.</p>
<p>Do note that these are patent filing by Apple and it doesn&#8217;t necessarily mean that the company actually has such devices under development. However, this does reveal that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple">Apple</a> is interested in exploring these technologies and there&#8217;s a high probability that the features could actually be available in Apple Watch in the coming years.</p>

This could offer better WiFi and cellular connectivity and boost reception for the company&#8217;s devices.</p>
<p>According to an <a href="https://appleinsider.com/articles/20/12/10/apple-looking-to-embed-antennas-in-screens-as-well-as-touch-id" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>AppleInsider</em> </a>report, the Cupertino based giant might be working on offering its users better signal reception while still providing a secure user authentication system as well. This would also lead to thinner bezels and notches, offering more screen estate to its customers. The company could achieve this by having both the Touch ID and antennas being housed under the display.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-359706 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/39273-75116-000-lead-Touch-ID-in-screen-xl.jpg?x96852" alt="Apple" width="870" height="485" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/39273-75116-000-lead-Touch-ID-in-screen-xl.jpg 870w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/39273-75116-000-lead-Touch-ID-in-screen-xl-300x167.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/39273-75116-000-lead-Touch-ID-in-screen-xl-768x428.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/39273-75116-000-lead-Touch-ID-in-screen-xl-696x388.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/39273-75116-000-lead-Touch-ID-in-screen-xl-753x420.jpg 753w" sizes="(max-width: 870px) 100vw, 870px" /></p>
<p>In the past, it was reported on multiple occasions that Apple is working on an in display fingerprint reader for its Touch ID system. Various patents had surfaced over the course of last year, which touched on topics like acoustic imaging, infrared, and more. Furthermore, these features have also been subject to many rumors and claims from known analyst <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ming-chi-kuo/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Ming-Chi Kuo</a> and his leaks on Twitter.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/11/apple-hints-touch-id-iphone-no-usb-cable-in-box-survey/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Apple survey hints at Touch ID on next iPhone, will ship without USB Cable in box</a></strong></h6>
<p>Apart from Touch ID being housed under the display, the company has also applied for related patents that cover using these layers to house an RF antenna into the display. Since signals require the WiFi and cellular antennas to be exposed, having one that takes up an entire side over a single thin band is better for the connectivity and reception for the device. This was described in Apple&#8217;s recent patent titled, &#8220;Display Integratable Hybrid Transparent Antenna.&#8221;</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-359704" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/39273-75119-002-RF-in-screen-xl.jpg?x96852" alt="Apple" width="900" height="467" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/39273-75119-002-RF-in-screen-xl.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/39273-75119-002-RF-in-screen-xl-300x156.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/39273-75119-002-RF-in-screen-xl-768x399.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/39273-75119-002-RF-in-screen-xl-696x361.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/39273-75119-002-RF-in-screen-xl-809x420.jpg 809w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></p>
<p>The patent application reads, &#8220;Today&#8217;s wireless systems (smart watches or other devices with a predominant display feature, for example) are striving to achieve an edge-to-edge display with a smaller bezel or bezel-less display solution. Especially for wearable devices, such as smart watches, smart glasses, or smart health-related monitoring devices, the display is small and the number of wireless radios (e.g., Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi, 3G/4G/LTE, FM, and so forth) that need to be supported and the related antennas is increasing.&#8221;</p>

This may suggest that the company might launch a new iPhone with a fingerprint reader but could also remove the USB cable from the retail box.</p>

<p>According to an <a href="https://9to5mac.com/2020/12/09/apple-surveys-iphone-users-on-face-id-opinions-usb-cable-in-the-box/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>9To5Mac</em> </a>report, a recent survey from the Cupertino based giant asked users questions regarding various different aspects of their iPhones. One regarding the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/touch-id/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Touch ID</a> had asked users if they were satisfied with Face ID, and if the person chose no, they would be met with these questions for further elaboration:</p>
<ul>
<li>Security or privacy concerns</li>
<li>I don&#8217;t like having to pick up my phone to use Face ID</li>
<li>Slow performance</li>
<li>It does not detect my face in all situations (such as low light, different angles, lying down, wearing sunglasses)</li>
<li>I prefer Touch ID</li>
<li>Not reliable; does not always unlock the iPhone</li>
<li>Other</li>
<li>Not sure</li>
</ul>

<p>This Apple survey also went on to ask customers what items they used from the box of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/iphone-12/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">iPhone 12</a>. This included a USB cable, the SIM ejection tool, and even the Apple sticker. Previously, the company had also released a similar survey earlier this year, which asked users if they used the power adapter and earphones that it offered in the box. The data from that survey is what led to Apple removing the charger and EarPods from within the iPhone 12 box.</p>

<p>At the moment, it is uncertain what the company plans for its future iPhones. But considering these questions, we might see Apple removing even more items from the box and bring back the Touch ID along with its existing Face ID biometric security system for iPhones. Since its removal the feature has been highly requested from its userbase, especially after the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/coronavirus/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">coronavirus</a> pandemic that has prompted people to wear masks, which hinders facial recognition technology.</p>

<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-351932 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/6a0120a5580826970c026bdea16861200c-800wi.jpg?x96852" alt="Apple" width="800" height="405" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/6a0120a5580826970c026bdea16861200c-800wi.jpg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/6a0120a5580826970c026bdea16861200c-800wi-300x152.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/6a0120a5580826970c026bdea16861200c-800wi-768x389.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/6a0120a5580826970c026bdea16861200c-800wi-696x352.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></p>
<p>The patent was granted by the US Patent and Trademark Office, which involved a new image sensor that is housed under the device&#8217;s screen. Looking at the patent, the primary element is the new optical imaging system that will emit a shortwave infrared light through the display, while a photosensitive element will be configured to receive a reflection from the interface surface to map the image of the users&#8217; fingers.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/04/apple-iphone-mini-slower-wireless-charging/">Apple iPhone 12 Mini has slower MagSafe wireless charging speed than other models</a></strong></h6>
<p>In other words, it is what appears to be an in display fingerprint scanner from the Cupertino based giant. The Apple patent also places a heavy emphasis on this &#8220;Shortwave Infrared light,&#8221; which is a crucial component of what appears to be next generation Touch ID.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class=" wp-image-351931 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/6a0120a5580826970c026be42052c0200d-800wi.jpg?x96852" alt="Apple" width="432" height="688" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/6a0120a5580826970c026be42052c0200d-800wi.jpg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/6a0120a5580826970c026be42052c0200d-800wi-188x300.jpg 188w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/6a0120a5580826970c026be42052c0200d-800wi-768x1224.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/6a0120a5580826970c026be42052c0200d-800wi-643x1024.jpg 643w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/6a0120a5580826970c026be42052c0200d-800wi-696x1109.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/6a0120a5580826970c026be42052c0200d-800wi-264x420.jpg 264w" sizes="(max-width: 432px) 100vw, 432px" /></p>
<p>Unfortunately, this is just a patent, and have no way of actually knowing if the company is developing or actively working with the technology at the moment. Furthermore, Apple has also been mainly focusing on Face ID for its flagship iPhones. Although, we might see this technology implemented on iPads or even a few budget iPhones in the near future.</p>

A few days before the event, we got to know that iPhone 13(tentative) will feature an LTPO display with high refresh rate screens. <p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-248926" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Touch-ID-iPhone-x.jpg?x96852" alt="fongerpritn in screen" width="680" height="340" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Touch-ID-iPhone-x.jpg 680w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Touch-ID-iPhone-x-300x150.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px" /></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>A tipster on Twitter with username <a href="https://twitter.com/L0vetodream">@L0vetodream</a>(via <a href="https://www.phonearena.com/news/apple-iphone-under-screen-touch-id_id127879">PhoneArena</a>) has posted a tweet that reads, &#8220;<strong>MESA uts for iPhone</strong>&#8220;. To this, well-known tipster Jon Prosser has <a href="https://twitter.com/jon_prosser/status/1316993599003889666">replied</a> that &#8220;MESA&#8221; stands for &#8220;<strong>Touch ID</strong>&#8220;, and &#8220;uts&#8221; refers to &#8220;<strong>under the screen</strong>&#8220;. However, neither of them have mentioned if it will be on <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/iphone-13">iPhone 13</a>, or other future versions. That said, this corroborates with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/04/22/qualcomm-and-apple-working-to-bring-in-screen-fingerprint-for-iphone/">earlier leaks</a> of Apple working on under-screen Touch ID solutions.</p>
<p>Previously, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had said that Apple was planning to launch at least one iPhone in 2021 with both Touch ID and Face ID on it. While some rumors said <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/iPhone-12">iPhone 12</a> series could have it, it didn&#8217;t turn out to be true. Having said that, rumors so far say Apple is reportedly working with Qualcomm to modify the ultrasonic fingerprint solution. The under-screen solution of Apple is likely to have a larger touch sensing area while drawing less power.</p>
<p>As is the case with every other technology, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Apple">Apple</a> would want to perfect the solution before debuting it. And if that happens, Apple&#8217;s next-generation iPhones will emphasize more on the display part. As we already know, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/02/apple-iphone-13-iphone-se-3-specs-features-emerge/">early reports</a> of the iPhone 13 indicate that it will have a 120Hz refresh rate screen(finally!). Additionally, it will adopt the LTPO(Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide) display designed by Apple.</p>
<p>Whether or not Apple decides to include both of them on the next <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/iPhone">iPhone</a> is something we will have to wait and see. However, considering the cost that&#8217;s probably involved, there is a chance that it could debut on the &#8220;Pro&#8221; models alone. Before finding its way to all the iPhones.</p>

Now, in a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bs8ez2i4Uf0">new podcast</a>, VP of Product Marketing Bob Borchers and VP of Hardware Engineering John Ternus have explained the development process of the tablet.</p>
<p>Talking about the new iPad Air, Bob Borchers said that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/touch-id">Touch ID</a> sensor embedded in the power button in a much smaller form factor is an &#8220;incredible feat of engineering.&#8221; He says that the narrow aspect ratio made it a challenging implementation given that the sensor needed to be &#8220;incredibly sensitive&#8221; to capture a broader view of the fingerprint.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-342451 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/iPad-Air-2020.jpg?x96852" alt="iPad Air 2020" width="4056" height="2400" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/iPad-Air-2020.jpg 4056w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/iPad-Air-2020-300x178.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/iPad-Air-2020-768x454.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/iPad-Air-2020-1024x606.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/iPad-Air-2020-696x412.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/iPad-Air-2020-1068x632.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/iPad-Air-2020-710x420.jpg 710w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/iPad-Air-2020-1920x1136.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 4056px) 100vw, 4056px" /></p>
<p>On the other hand, John Ternus explains much effort was put in to ensure that the Touch ID sensor and the antenna on the cellular model, which is placed in the top portion of the enclosure, didn&#8217;t interfere with each other given that both are sensitive. He added that &#8220;hardcore silicon and engineering&#8221; went to ensure that the sensor delivers the same level of security as previous models.</p>
<p>Borchers also notes that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/15/the-new-ipad-air-is-the-first-device-with-a-5nm-chip-8th-gen-ipad-tags-along/">new iPad Air</a> comes with an increased on-device processing power thanks to the introduction of the Neural Engine. It also brings more powerful capabilities along with a greater level of privacy for the users.</p>

<p>The new iPad Air is the first device from <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple">Apple</a> to come powered by the A14 Bionic chipset, which is built on the 5nm process and will also be powering the upcoming <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/iphone-12">iPhone 12</a> models. The Hexa-core processor has 11.8 billion transistors and boasts a 40% improvement in CPU performance and a 30% increase in GPU performance.</p>
<p>As for the design, it ditches the thick bezels for slimmer and uniform ones. It features a 10.9-inch liquid retina display along with anti-reflective coating, P3 color gamut, and True Tone support. It packs a 7MP f/2.0 selfie camera and the same 12MP f/1.8 rear camera available on the iPad Pro. It also has a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/usb-type-c">USB-C port</a> with support for 20W fast charging.</p>

<p>Earlier today (7th February 2020), the US Patent &amp; Trademark Office published this patent application from Apple. The patent reveals that the Cupertino based giant is working on a new Apple Watch that will make the digital crown of the wearable more useful to the user through the addition of the Touch ID fingerprint scanner support.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/02/06/huawei-singapore-announces-new-colorways-for-freebuds-3-and-nova-5t-buyers-get-free-gifts-with-each-purchase/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Huawei Singapore announces new colorways for FreeBuds 3 and Nova 5T; buyers get free gifts with each purchase</a></strong></h6>
<p>According to the Apple patent, the side surface of the smartwatch will feature a transparent cover alongside image sensors that will be extended via the Watch&#8217;s crown. This mechanism will enable biometric security on the wearable product, or in other words, Touch ID security. The mechanism is housed below the primary display of the Apple Watch and also seems to have a light transmitting and an image sensing surface.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-304326 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/6a0120a5580826970c0240a5092db3200b-800wi.jpg?x96852" alt="Apple" width="800" height="1048" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/6a0120a5580826970c0240a5092db3200b-800wi.jpg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/6a0120a5580826970c0240a5092db3200b-800wi-229x300.jpg 229w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/6a0120a5580826970c0240a5092db3200b-800wi-768x1006.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/6a0120a5580826970c0240a5092db3200b-800wi-782x1024.jpg 782w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/6a0120a5580826970c0240a5092db3200b-800wi-696x912.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/6a0120a5580826970c0240a5092db3200b-800wi-321x420.jpg 321w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></p>
<p>The images reveal that to input the fingerprint from users&#8217; fingers, one must place it on the circular surface of the digital crown and rotate it. Meaning, it is not a simple touch input but a sliding action across the round dial. This is an interesting functionality that the company could add in its future iterations of its Apple Watch which will also make the popular wearables more secure as well.</p>

Based on the latest patent filing with the US Trademark and Patents Office, it can be said that Apple could be contemplating the idea of adding Touch ID to the display of the Apple Watch.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The news first appeared on Patently Apple last week claimed that the Cupertino company could be planning to introduce a touch-sensitive device, a force-sensitive device, a temperature-sensitive device and/or a fingerprint sensor underneath the display. This will be done by relocating the internal watch antennas within the wristband. While the current-generation </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-watch"><span style="font-weight: 400">Apple Watch</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> can be used to unlock MacBooks, make secure payments through </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-pay"><span style="font-weight: 400">Apple Pay</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> and more, native support for Touch ID will throw a whole new level of authentication to the mix.</span></p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/11/12/next-apple-watch-may-feature-touch-id-under-display/apple-watch-patent-design-with-touch-id/" rel="attachment wp-att-288996"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-288996" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Apple-Watch-patent-design-with-Touch-ID.jpg?x96852" alt="Apple Watch patent design with Touch ID" width="650" height="365" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Apple-Watch-patent-design-with-Touch-ID.jpg 650w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Apple-Watch-patent-design-with-Touch-ID-300x168.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px" /></a></p>
<h4 style="text-align: center"><strong><div class="su-note" style="border-color:#e5e5e5;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"><div class="su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim" style="background-color:#ffffff;border-color:#ffffff;color:#333333;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;">Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/10/30/apple-airpods-pro-unboxing-first-impressions-is-it-any-good-video/">Apple AirPods Pro Unboxing &#038; First Impressions: Is It Any Good? (Video)</a></div></div></strong></h4>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The patent application titled “Antenna Assemblies for Watch Bands” explains how Apple plans to embed antennas within the wrist band, ensuring the perfect balance between form, functionality, and comfort. The watch band enables wireless communication via the stretchable antenna while protecting its structural integrity and operational capabilities. The watch band flexes, stretches and bends freely with the body and protects the antenna from damage caused by external impacts.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Embedding cellular, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth antennas within the band is a tough challenge, considering the amount of stress and torture these bands have to endure. Embedding antennas within the wristband would dramatically reduce aftermarket replacement options and increase the prices. Apple has high hopes for this technology, enough to file a patent. As with any new technology, it is never known whether Apple will ever bring these innovations. Nonetheless, it is interesting to see the direction that the company plans to take for the future.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">In related news, Apple slashed the prices of the Watch Series 3 in India after the launch of the Series 5. Prices of the Series 3 GPS now start at Rs. 20,990 (~$294) while the GPS + Cellular variant is available at Rs. 29,990 (~$418). The Apple Watch Series 5 is priced from Rs. 40,900 (~$572) for the GPS-only variant while the GPS + cellular variant is priced at Rs. 49,900 (~$698). The Watch Series 5 flaunts a Low-Temperature Polysilicon and Oxide (LTPO) Retina display with a variable refresh rate, eliminating the need for refreshing the display, thus conserving power.</span></p>

Many smartphone manufacturers are now offering sixth-generation technology which provider wider fingerprint recognition area.</p>
<p>If you are among those who wishes for the whole smartphone display to act as a fingerprint sensor, then we have some good news. It seems that Apple is working on acoustic fingerprint imaging technology that can offer full-screen Touch ID.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-250966 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/apple-patents-acoustic-touch-id-1.jpg?x96852" alt="Apple Acoustic Touch ID Patent" width="660" height="539" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/apple-patents-acoustic-touch-id-1.jpg 660w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/apple-patents-acoustic-touch-id-1-300x245.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/apple-patents-acoustic-touch-id-1-514x420.jpg 514w" sizes="(max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px" /></p>
<p>This will enable the company to offer Touch ID on iPhone without the need to embeds the sensor in the home button, and the company the continue offering clean full-screen design for the front panel.</p>
<p>With <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-x/">iPhone X</a>, Apple replaced Touch ID with Face ID which uses TrueDepth camera array. This enabled the US-based company to have edge-to-edge display. However, Face ID still has some flaws that Touch ID continues to be better at, such as unlocking the iPhone without looking at it.</p>
<p>In a patent granted by the US Patent and Trademark Office, the company describes an acoustic imaging system for a surface. It is using a combination of acoustic transducers to vibrate a surface in a specific way, which can effectively turn the entire display into a fingerprint reader.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-250967 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/apple-patents-acoustic-touch-id-2.jpg?x96852" alt="Apple Acoustic Touch ID Patent" width="660" height="517" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/apple-patents-acoustic-touch-id-2.jpg 660w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/apple-patents-acoustic-touch-id-2-300x235.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/apple-patents-acoustic-touch-id-2-536x420.jpg 536w" sizes="(max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px" /></p>
<p>Another patent named &#8220;Acoustic imaging system for spatial demodulation of acoustic waves,&#8221; covers the same subject area with a relatively similar technique, except that it goes into greater detail relating to transducer placement.</p>
<p>In the second patent, the company explicitly suggests that the object being detected &#8220;is a finger,&#8221; while the user input surface could be formed from &#8220;glass, sapphire, or metal,&#8221; with the obvious application being a touch-enabled display.</p>

<p>While we doubt if Apple will move back to Touch ID for iPhone after ditching it in favor of Face ID. However, the full-screen fingerprint sensor will eventually become a reality given that most manufacturers have now adopted in-display fingerprint sensor. It&#8217;s just a matter of time and it will be interesting to see which make becomes the first to do so.</p>

He has revealed that since the Cupertino company is still working on resolving the obstacles of in-screen fingerprint scanner, it will continue to invest more in Face ID.</p>
<p>The upcoming iPhone X is the first smartphone from Apple to arrive with Face ID biometric recognition feature. Kuo claims that if the Face ID feature is received well by the consumers, all the 2018 iPhones is likely to feature TrueDepth camera and face ID.</p>
<p>This suggests that Apple may not have yet decided to completely axe the Touch ID feature in favor of the newly introduced Face ID. The new biometric identification feature not only allows <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-x/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">iPhone X</a> users to unlock it but also make secure payments through Apple Pay. Apple claims that Face ID is very secure as the face data is encrypted and it never leaves the device. However, recent reports have revealed that Face ID can recognize only one face. On the contrary, Touch ID can recognize 5 different fingerprints which makes it easier to share the iPhone with family members.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-150061 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/apple-face-id.jpg?x96852" alt="" width="900" height="522" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/apple-face-id.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/apple-face-id-300x174.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/apple-face-id-768x445.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000">Read More:</span> <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/09/19/huawei-mimick-apple-iphone-x-face-id-demo-new-mate-10-teaser/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Huawei Mimics Apple&#8217;s &#8220;Failed&#8221; iPhone X Face ID Demo in New Mate 10 Teaser</a></strong></p>
<p>Apple is still struggling to incorporate Touch ID sensor under the display of iPhones. The display panels of iPhones are equipped with 3D Touch module which increases the thickness of the whole display. This reduces the accuracy of the in-screen fingerprint scanner. Since Android phones are not equipped with pressure-sensitive display like the recent iPhones, other smartphone OEMs might be able to incorporate fingerprint sensor under the display of their devices.</p>
<p>A lot depends on the market response of the Face ID. If it fails to impress the users, the company may focus its attention on developing in-screen Touch ID. Nevertheless, Apple has to find ways to resolve the technical problems to make the in-screen fingerprint sensor workable.</p>
<p>Kuo has also added that if Face ID is appreciated by consumers, Apple’s Android rivals may also introduce smartphones with facial recognition feature. Hence, facial recognition component suppliers are likely to see a high growth in the forthcoming years.</p>

<p>Today marks the beginning of the second half of 2017 and one of the devices set to launch in the second half is Apple&#8217;s iPhone 8. In the past few weeks we have seen various leaks from genuine sources confirm the design of the next Apple flagship. One major focus of these leaks is the design of the phone&#8217;s rear camera. Today we have exclusive photos confirming the new design.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-138996" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/iPhone-8-cases-7.jpg?x96852" alt="" width="800" height="640" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/iPhone-8-cases-7.jpg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/iPhone-8-cases-7-300x240.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/iPhone-8-cases-7-768x614.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></p>
<p>These fresh leaks come in form of cases for the phone and were gotten from a factory that makes iPhone cases. The cases come in various designs and colors but one thing that is common to them is the cut out for the cameras, buttons and ports.</p>
<p>Apple is definitely sticking to dual rear cameras but will now switch to a vertical setup instead of the horizontal setup on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/iphone-7-plus/">iPhone 7 Plus</a>. The cameras will still be positioned at the left hand side though. Button placements and position of ports are still the same.</p>

<p>The images also shows the front of the phone as a full screen device. It is still unclear if Touch ID has been integrated beneath the display or placed under the power button.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-118556" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/iPhone-8-Function-Area.jpg?x96852" alt="iPhone 8 Function Area" width="800" height="420" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/iPhone-8-Function-Area.jpg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/iPhone-8-Function-Area-300x158.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/iPhone-8-Function-Area-768x403.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">Android devices usually have on-screen navigation buttons or capacitive keys. Some even have both and might even have a physical home button too. Apple is said to be ditching the home button this year which also doubles as the Touch ID scanner.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">The rumor is that the function area will be similar to the touch bar in the new MacBook Pro with one of the virtual buttons serving as a home button and the others possibly changing according to the app in use or being preset by the user.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">So what happens to Touch ID? Previous leaks had said Apple will use an under-glass fingerprint scanner but Kuo believes that it will be replaced by another form of biometric security system such as an iris scanner.</p>
<p style="text-align: center"><span style="color: #ff0000">READ MORE:</span> <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/02/07/apple-tries-sell-used-iphones-india/">Apple Tries Again to Sell Used iPhones in India</a> <span id="more-118553"></span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">Adding this new detail of the iPhone 8 having a function area similar to the touch bar; an iris scanner, wireless charging, and an OLED display and you should have a rough estimate of the price. According to Mr. Kuo, the iPhone 8 will start at $1000 (¥6859). Expensive right? Yes, typical Apple. But even with the high price, he believes that 60% of Apple&#8217;s 100 million iPhone units target set by apple will be made up of the iPhone 8.</p>
