<p>Nothing has not only made headlines in the smartphone sector &#8211; the design of their past earphones have caused a stir, just like their phones. One more time, Nothing seems like it&#8217;s back with another pair of earbuds, and an official teaser has been released by the company. Watch the trailer <a href="https://x.com/nothing/status/1772926715863454142?s=20"><strong>here</strong></a>, posted by Nothing on X.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="687" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/image-163-1024x687.png?x96852" alt="Nothing Ear 3" class="wp-image-614235" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/image-163-1024x687.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/image-163-300x201.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/image-163-768x516.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/image-163-696x467.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/image-163-1068x717.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/image-163-626x420.png 626w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/image-163.png 1071w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The video doesn&#8217;t give away too much. There&#8217;s a frog, there are some cool close motion photography shots and then the text &#8216;Nothing (R)&#8217; is displayed. Maybe the leap of the frog has something to do with the leap the third iteration of the earphones will take over its predecessors, the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/nothing-ear-2">Nothing Ear (2)</a>. </p>

<p>The Ear (2) True Wireless Earbuds came with advanced features such as Hi-Res Audio and LHDC 5.0 technology. Custom sound tuning was also possible through the companion app, Nothing X, so this is the least we can expect from Nothing Ear (3). With 11.6mm custom drivers and a new dual-chamber design, the Ear (2) were quite a trendsetter. Plus, personalized ANC support offered up to 40 dB of noise reduction, and the adaptive noise cancellation mode automatically adjusts noise reduction levels based on the surroundings. Maybe this time around, we can expect an improvement on the battery life. Who knows?</p>

<p><a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/skullcandy">Skullcandy</a> has stepped into the eco-conscious audio market with its new EcoBuds <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/true-wireless-earbuds">True Wireless earbuds</a>. These earbuds prioritize sustainability, boasting 65% certified recycled plastics, 57% less heavy metals, and a 50% lower carbon footprint compared to competitors.</p>

<h3>The earbuds are made from 65% recycled plastics, Skullcandy claims</h3>

<p>However, this eco-friendly approach comes with a trade-off. To minimize environmental impact, Skullcandy ditched the traditional charging case that typically accompanies wireless earbuds. These <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/lithium-ion">lithium-ion</a> battery packs contribute significantly to the environmental footprint of such devices.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="960" height="640" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/9148e620-da40-11ee-a3ff-ececd93ac8df.webp?x96852" alt="Skullcandy" class="wp-image-609344" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/9148e620-da40-11ee-a3ff-ececd93ac8df.webp 960w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/9148e620-da40-11ee-a3ff-ececd93ac8df-300x200.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/9148e620-da40-11ee-a3ff-ececd93ac8df-768x512.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/9148e620-da40-11ee-a3ff-ececd93ac8df-696x464.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/9148e620-da40-11ee-a3ff-ececd93ac8df-630x420.webp 630w" sizes="(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></figure></div>

<p>Despite the lack of a dedicated case, the EcoBuds offer eight hours of playback on a single charge and can be recharged using a smartphone, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/usb-type-c">USB-C</a> port, or any standard outlet.</p>

<p>Staying true to its budget-friendly reputation, Skullcandy prices the EcoBuds at a competitive $40. Currently available in a &#8220;Glacier&#8221; colorway (a mix of white and blue), it&#8217;s unclear if more color options will be added in the future. Steps like these set waypoints for other companies to follow and adopt strategies that will shape the state of our market in due time. With major issues surrounding disposing of electronics and tech waste, Skullcandy&#8217;s attempt comes as a refreshing change, especially if their earbuds can deliver on the same fronts as other popular TWS earbuds (which are nearly not as cheap either).</p>

<p>While AirPods are still the bestselling <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/true-wireless-earphones">true wireless earbuds</a> in the world, they are priced on the higher side and not within everyone&#8217;s reach. But that could soon change as the company is reportedly gearing up to launch a low-cost model of AirPods early next year.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="510" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Apple-AirPods-1024x510.jpeg?x96852" alt="Apple AirPods" class="wp-image-508315" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Apple-AirPods-1024x510.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Apple-AirPods-300x150.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Apple-AirPods-768x383.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Apple-AirPods-1536x766.jpeg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Apple-AirPods-696x347.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Apple-AirPods-1068x532.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Apple-AirPods-843x420.jpeg 843w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Apple-AirPods-324x160.jpeg 324w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Apple-AirPods.jpeg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>A well-known Apple analyst Ming Chi-Kuo claims that Apple is planning to launch a more affordable standard AirPods, which could cost around $99. Along with that, the company is also working on the second generation of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-airpods-max">AirPods Max</a>, over-ear headphones.</p>

<p>It is being claimed that the mass shipment of both these products, the cheaper $99 AirPods and the second generation AirPods Max could take place in the first or second quarter of 2024 or in early 2025.</p>

<p>Currently, the cheapest <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-airpods">AirPods</a> model available in the market is the second-generation AirPods, costing $129, while the newer third-generation model is priced at $169 and comes with a Lightning charging case, while the one with MagSafe case costs $179.</p>

<p>It remains to be seen what features Apple brings to the cheaper AirPods and how it differentiates from other models, given that the second-gen model is usually available at a discounted price of $99.</p>

Last year, in the month of June, the company launched other similar earphones, dubbed <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/06/01/vivo-tws-neo-earbuds-launched-with-14-2mm-drivers-bluetooth-5-2-aptx-audio/">Vivo TWS Neo</a>.</p>
<p>Now, the China-based company is gearing up to launch the successor of its first true wireless earbuds. The upcoming earphones from the company are named Vivo TWS 2 and will be officially launched on 20th May in China.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-389417 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Vivo-TWS-2-Launch-Date.png?x96852" alt="Vivo TWS 2 Launch Date" width="544" height="248" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Vivo-TWS-2-Launch-Date.png 544w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Vivo-TWS-2-Launch-Date-300x137.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 544px) 100vw, 544px" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-389418 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Vivo-TWS-2-Leak.jpg?x96852" alt="Vivo TWS 2 Design" width="534" height="274" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Vivo-TWS-2-Leak.jpg 534w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Vivo-TWS-2-Leak-300x154.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 534px) 100vw, 534px" /></p>
<p>The upcoming Vivo TWS 2 will be the company&#8217;s first true wireless earphones to come with support for <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/anc">Active Noise Cancellation</a>. Along with the launch date, the company has also showcased the product.</p>
<p>As for the design, it looks quite similar to its predecessor and will be offered in a Blue-colored gradient. Currently, nothing much is known about the upcoming earphones apart from the support for ANC.</p>
<p>Similar to its predecessors, we expect the upcoming earphones to come with support for the AAC codec as well as the aptX adaptive codec. It is also likely to have IP ratings for water and dust resistance, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/jovi">Jovi Smart Assistance</a>, Find My Earbuds feature, One-Touch pairing mode, and Touch Gesture support, among others.</p>
<p>Many smartphone manufacturers have been actively launching TWS earphones in the market, including its sister companies like Realme, OPPO, and OnePlus. However, the launch cycle of Vivo is quite slow, having launched just two such earphones in the market so far and the third one on its way.</p>

<p>Now, a <a href="https://www.ithome.com/0/547/614.htm">new report</a> coming from @DSP-Charles revealed that the Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has rebuilt its team for the TWS product line and this new team is now taking over the task of upgrading the lineup of earphones.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_282045" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-282045" style="width: 800px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-282045 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/IMG_6109.png?x96852" alt="Xiaomi Airdots Pro 2 TWS Review" width="800" height="533" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/IMG_6109.png 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/IMG_6109-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/IMG_6109-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/IMG_6109-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/IMG_6109-630x420.png 630w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-282045" class="wp-caption-text">Xiaomi Airdots Pro 2</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>The first major thing the team is tasked with is to upgrade the Xiaomi Air series true wireless earphones to the Xiaomi FlipBuds series. For those who are unaware, Xiaomi <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/02/18/xiaomi-trademark-flipbuds-and-flipbuds-pro/">had trademarked</a> the new TWS lineup &#8212; Xiaomi FlipBuds and FlipBuds Pro earlier this year.</p>
<p>The upcoming FlipBuds series will replace the existing Air lineup of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tws-earphones">TWS earphones</a> but it remains to be seen when are how many wireless earphones get launched this year under the new lineup by Xiaomi.</p>
<p>Currently, Xiaomi has several true wireless earphones under the Air lineup, including the Air 2S, Air 2 SE, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/02/11/xiaomi-mi-air-2-pro-tws-lhdc-low-latency-update/">Air 2 Pro</a>, AirDots, and more. As of now, there is nothing much known about the FlipBuds lineup but we expect to know more about it in the coming weeks.</p>
<p>According to the data from <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/idc">IDC</a>, Xiaomi was the second leading wearable device maker last year with total shipments of 50.7 million units, capturing 11.4 percent of the market share. Total shipments of wearable devices reached 153.5 million units in Q4 2020, registering a growth of 27.2 percent.</p>

It reveals that shipments of wireless headsets in China reached 42.56 million units in H1 2020.</p>
<p>The numbers represent a 24 percent year-on-year increase. The report claims that the true wireless earphones accounted for 64 percent in the shipment of 42.56 million units, which shows a 49 percent year-on-year growth.</p>

<p>The leading brands for wireless headsets in China include Apple, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei">Huawei</a>, Xiaomi, Amoi, and Meander. While <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple">Apple</a> accounted for 18.1 percent market share, Huawei and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi</a> managed to grab 10.1 percent and 8.3 percent market respectively.</p>
<p>Amoi accounted for 8.3 percent of the market share while Meander managed to grab around 5.6 percent of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tws">wireless headsets</a> market in China. The report further adds that the growth of active noise cancellation earphones is noticeable and the category could see rapid growth in the near future.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s noteworthy that the top three manufacturers of China&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/bluetooth">Bluetooth</a> headset market in the first half of this year accounted for only 37 percent of the overall market share, indicating that the market is quite diversified, mainly because of low entry barriers.</p>

The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-mix-alpha/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Mi Mix Alpha Concept smartphone</a> is a great example of its innovative philosophy and, now, a new patent has revealed a unique smartphone that arrives with a built in wireless headset.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-334173 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/smartphone.gif?x96852" alt="Xiaomi" width="1440" height="1100" /></p>
<p>According to a report from <a href="https://nl.letsgodigital.org/smartphones/xiaomi-smartphone-wireless-headset/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>LetsGoDigital</em></a>, Xiaomi applied for the patent with the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office) which was published on 24th July 2020. In the patent, the aspect that stood out the most regarding the smartphone is undoubtedly the two earbuds that are housed on the top of the device. Similar to a stylus, the wireless earphones are housed within the smartphone&#8217;s body and can be pulled out for use and stored back in with ease. This would eliminate the need for carrying an additional charging case.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/28/realme-v5-renders-color-options-and-variants-revealed-realme-v5-pro-could-be-coming/">Realme V5 renders, color options and variants revealed; Realme V5 Pro could be coming</a></strong></h6>
<p>Even the earphones are unique, with the heads of the hearables being able to bend. In other words, when not in use, they face upwards to be stored and bend to the side to fit the users&#8217; ears. Furthermore, the earphones can also be kept slights out of their handset&#8217;s housing to have it act as a speaker for calls. Looking at the wireless headsets, these also bear a resemblance to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/mi-true-wireless-earphones/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Xiaomi Mi True Wireless earphone</a>s. The smartphone in the patent doesn&#8217;t particularly stand out, but it does feature a full screen body on the front with minimal bezels.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-334172 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/wireless-headset-1024x704.jpg?x96852" alt="Xiaomi" width="1024" height="704" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/wireless-headset-1024x704.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/wireless-headset-1024x704-300x206.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/wireless-headset-1024x704-768x528.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/wireless-headset-1024x704-100x70.jpg 100w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/wireless-headset-1024x704-218x150.jpg 218w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/wireless-headset-1024x704-696x479.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/wireless-headset-1024x704-611x420.jpg 611w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>Unfortunately, while this design seems quite useful and appealing on paper, it might have certain negative impacts on the device itself, like water resistance or additional battery drain. Although, it is also unknown whether the Chinese tech giant would make such a device, or if it&#8217;s just covering all bases at the moment. So, let us know in the comments section down below if you&#8217;d like Xiaomi to launch this device.</p>

Now, as the launch date nears, more details about the device are surfacing online.</p>
<p>Recently, it was revealed that the OnePlus Buds will come with a battery life of seven hours on a single charge and up to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/14/oneplus-buds-will-have-a-30-hour-battery-life-appears-in-blue/">30 hours of audio playback</a> with the charging case. Now it has been revealed that it will also support fast charging technology.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-332355 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds-Teaser.jpg?x96852" alt="OnePlus Buds Teaser" width="888" height="499" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds-Teaser.jpg 888w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds-Teaser-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds-Teaser-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds-Teaser-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds-Teaser-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 888px) 100vw, 888px" /></p>
<p>In a recent interview by Jay Liu, OnePlus Buds&#8217; Project Manager, he has confirmed that the upcoming TWS earphones will use the company’s own <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/warp-charge">Warp Charge</a> technology which will charge the device for up to 10 hours of usage in just 10 minutes.</p>
<p>So, comparing this with the charging speed of the Apple AirPods, the OnePlus Buds appears to be faster, at least from the information available right now. Apple AirPods offer five hours of playback time when charged for 15 minutes.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>EDITOR&#8217;S PICK: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/15/samsung-galaxy-note20-ultra-dynamic-refresh-rate-switching-60hz-120hz/">Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra may feature dynamic refresh rate switching between 60Hz and 120Hz</a></strong></h6>
<p>The earphones are powered by a 430mAh Lithium-Ion battery and the charging speed will be capped at 5v 1.5A to avoid damage to the battery. It is also being reported that fast charging will not need any special cables.</p>
<p>Previously, OnePlus CEO <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/pete-lau">Pete Lau</a> has revealed that the OnePlus Buds will come with a &#8220;half-in-ear design&#8221; which is aimed at increasing comfort level for the users by reducing the pressure inside the ear.</p>
<p>It seems that the OnePlus Buds won&#8217;t come with support for wireless charging support. Thus, pricing is expected to be affordable. To know for sure what features the earphones packs and how it is priced, we&#8217;ll have to wait for the launch event on 21st July.</p>

The firm attributes this surge to one particular subcategory that had the highest impact which is the &#8220;hearables&#8221; market.</p>
<p>In the report, the wearables industry saw a significant growth of 94.6 percent in the third quarter of 2019 compared to 2018&#8217;s third quarter. The &#8220;hearables&#8221; category, that includes wireless earphones, headphones and more of the sort, had a major impact in the industry. The report accredited this major popularity rise to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/brand/apple/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Apple</a> with its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/airpods/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">AirPods</a>.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_252289" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-252289" style="width: 720px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-252289 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/airpods-vs-galaxy-buds-9.png?x96852" alt="Wearables" width="720" height="480" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/airpods-vs-galaxy-buds-9.png 720w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/airpods-vs-galaxy-buds-9-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/airpods-vs-galaxy-buds-9-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/airpods-vs-galaxy-buds-9-630x420.png 630w" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-252289" class="wp-caption-text">Apple AirPods and Samsung Galaxy Buds</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>Since its release, the AirPods have created a massive trend that saw many companies produce either look-alikes or similarly functioning audio gadgets. Currently, the Cupertino-based company is the world leader in terms of market share in the wearables category with 29.5 million units being shipped in Q3 2019 in comparison to just 10 million units in Q3 2018. This showcases a notable growth of 195.5 percent and a total market share of 35 percent this quarter thanks to its strong AirPods sales and popularity.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Xiaomi</a>, the Chinese tech giant, arrives second with a 14.6 percent total market share. Furthermore, the company saw a sizeable growth of 66.1 percent from Q3 2018 to Q3 2019. On the other hand, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Samsung</a> took spot number three with a 9.8 percent market share owing to 8.3 million units being shipped in this quarter in comparison to 3.2 million in Q3 2018. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/brand/huawei/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Huawei</a> arrives behind Samsung with a big leap of 7.1 million units being shipped over 2.3 million over last year&#8217;s third quarter, taking 8.4 percent of the total market share.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_294363" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-294363" style="width: 727px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-294363 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/gsmarena_001.jpg?x96852" alt="Wearables Category Market Share (Courtesy: IDC)" width="727" height="345" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/gsmarena_001.jpg 727w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/gsmarena_001-300x142.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/gsmarena_001-696x330.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 727px) 100vw, 727px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-294363" class="wp-caption-text">Wearable Companies Market Share (Courtesy: IDC)</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>The report also offers a breakdown of exact wearables subcategories to indicate growth. Thus, we see earwear (earphones and headphones) seeing massive growth. With a total of 40.7 million units shipped over last years 11.8 million, earwear alone sees a Year-on-Year growth of a whopping 242.4 percent.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_294364" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-294364" style="width: 727px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-294364 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/gsmarena_002.jpg?x96852" alt="Wearables Category Market Share" width="727" height="295" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/gsmarena_002.jpg 727w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/gsmarena_002-300x122.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/gsmarena_002-696x282.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 727px) 100vw, 727px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-294364" class="wp-caption-text">Wearables Subcategory Market Share (Courtesy: IDC)</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>Other categories like wristbands and smartwatches saw a YoY growth as well but were nowhere near the &#8220;hearables&#8221; subcategory. And with more and more smartphone OEMs moving away from the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/3-5mm-audio-jack/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">3.5mm headphone jack</a>, the industry is expected to continue rising at a strong pace.</p>

Now, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/brand/oneplus/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">OnePlus</a>, the smartphone manufacturer is reportedly also looking into entering this cut-throat market to tackle other major brands like <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Apple</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Samsung</a>.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_294349" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-294349" style="width: 2048px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-294349 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/ELRLtU1X0AANpzA.jpg?x96852" alt="OnePlus Truly Wireless Earphones" width="2048" height="969" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/ELRLtU1X0AANpzA.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/ELRLtU1X0AANpzA-300x142.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/ELRLtU1X0AANpzA-768x363.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/ELRLtU1X0AANpzA-1024x485.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/ELRLtU1X0AANpzA-696x329.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/ELRLtU1X0AANpzA-1068x505.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/ELRLtU1X0AANpzA-888x420.jpg 888w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/ELRLtU1X0AANpzA-1920x908.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-294349" class="wp-caption-text">OnePlus Truly Wireless Earphones Promotion (Concept Via Max J.)</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>According to Max J, the known leakster (for Samsung related information) stated that OnePlus is getting ready to enter the wireless earphones market. In a tweet, he shared an image of a truly wireless earphone promotion concept which he claimed was from OnePlus. Unfortunately, since no official confirmation or announcement has been made, it is uncertain as to what the upcoming earphones might actually look like.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/12/09/oneplus-tv-has-a-new-remote-with-a-dedicated-netflix-button-will-be-free-for-existing-customers/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">OnePlus TV has a new remote with a dedicated Netflix button; will be free for existing customers</a></strong></h6>
<p>Furthermore, the image carries the words “listen without the cords in your way” which is a clear hint at truly wireless earphones. Hence, it might follow a similar design philosophy as a regular <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/05/15/oneplus-bullets-wireless-2-announced/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Bullets Wireless lineup</a> but without the cords. Although, what useful and unique function OnePlus adds to the gadget is a mystery for now.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_252289" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-252289" style="width: 720px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-252289 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/airpods-vs-galaxy-buds-9.png?x96852" alt="OnePlus" width="720" height="480" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/airpods-vs-galaxy-buds-9.png 720w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/airpods-vs-galaxy-buds-9-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/airpods-vs-galaxy-buds-9-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/airpods-vs-galaxy-buds-9-630x420.png 630w" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-252289" class="wp-caption-text">Apple AirPods &amp; Samsung Galaxy Buds</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>Currently, Apple dominates the wireless earphones market with its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/airpods/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">AirPods</a>. Thus, the move from OnePlus seems probable as it may seek to rival both Samsung (<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/galaxy-buds/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Galaxy Buds</a>) and Apple in the market. Since the company already offers wireless earphones, these new additions might just prove to be a great push to its periphery gadget sales; and knowing OnePlus, the company might undercut its mainstream rivals by a notable margin in terms of pricing.</p>

<p>The data shows that the global market size for true wireless headsets reached 33 million units raking in USD 4.1 billion in revenue in Q3 2019. This figure represents a 22% QoQ growth, according to the findings of Counterpoint Research’s Hearables Market Tracker. The US accounted for the largest chunk of the market at 31%, with over 10 million units sold. This is the first time in a single quarter such massive sales would be recorded and is another testament to the growth of the segment. The world&#8217;s second-largest market China also saw some improvements with a 44% QoQ growth in Q3.</p>

<p>In terms of specific brands, Apple maintained its supersonic leadership of the market even though market shares fell from 53% in the previous quarter to 45%. Apple continued its leadership by growing sales of the second-generation AirPods. Xiaomi beat Samsung to clinch the second spot. Xiaomi&#8217;s rise from the fourth place is attributed to a rise in sales volume mainly from the Chinese market where the Redmi Airdots has seen massive patronage as a great budget product with a price point around $20. Samsung slipped to third place with a 6% share. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Q3-2019-Market-Share-by-Brand-768x317.png?x96852"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-291596" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Q3-2019-Market-Share-by-Brand-768x317.png?x96852" alt="Q3-2019-Market-Share-by-Brand-768x317" width="768" height="317" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Q3-2019-Market-Share-by-Brand-768x317.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Q3-2019-Market-Share-by-Brand-768x317-300x124.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Q3-2019-Market-Share-by-Brand-768x317-696x287.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /></a></p>
<p>JBL and Beats completed the top 5 hearables brands, ranked fourth and fifth, respectively. The market share of their new premium models, such as the JBL TUNE 120 released in July, and Beats Powerbeats Pro in May, have increased significantly, boosted by favorable market reviews of sound quality and design by consumers. Amoi, a new Chinese brand, is also striking. Its F9 product has gained popularity, mainly from the Chinese domestic market. Amoi attained the global sixth position, surpassing QCY, the former leader in the low-end market.</p>
<p>Since new powerful models, such as Apple’s AirPods Pro, Amazon Echo Buds, Microsoft Surface Earbuds, and Jabra Elite 75t have recently been released, consumer interest is increasing. Given the recent growth momentum and the effect of year-end promotions, such as Singles’ Day, Black Friday and Christmas, the Q4 market is expected to show further high growth. Thus, Counterpoint Research expects the annual market to reach 120 million units in 2019.</p>

<p>Adopting the tech that Apple introduced with the Airpods and like many other true wireless earbuds, the Upods are a pair of tiny in-ear plugs that connect to your phone via Bluetooth and come with a charging case that makes sure they stay charged all the time. The headset has a professional, clean and all-around sleek design, looking decidedly earpiece-like. Also, the case remains small in size with round edges and corners, making it pocket-friendly.</p>

<p>UMIDIGI claims that Upods is the world&#8217;s smallest 24h-lasting wireless earbuds and its price will be around $30. The rest of the specs remain unknown for the time being but they are to be confirmed soon, on August 5th that the release event will take place together with the UMIDIGI X presentation. <p>The earphones connect to the smartphone with Bluetooth 5.0. They are powered by a 58mAh battery in each earbud, which is claimed by the company to deliver up to 5 hours of calling, or up to 6 hours of music playback on a single charge.</p>
<p>The charging case features a 252mAh battery, delivering a boost of up to 7 hours &#8211; increasing music playback time to 13 hours and talk time to 11 hours, Samsung claims. The charging case can deliver up to 1.7 hours of playback with a 15-minute charge. Further, the charging case and are also compatible with the company&#8217;s Wireless PowerShare feature that lets them be charged wirelessly by the Galaxy S10 series of smartphones.</p>
