It is essential to flash aftermarket Android builds (custom ROMs) as the built-in stock recoveries on the phones/tablets do not allow it. Hence, TWRP is the first thing to install if a user wants to use an alternate OS. The project supports a number of devices officially and now Realme XT, Realme X2, and Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 / 4 Plus also join the list.

Realme XT is one of the first smartphones with a 64MP primary camera. It was launched in India with ColorOS 6 based on Android 9.0 Pie on-board. Soon, an improved version of the phone called Realme X2 debuted with Snapdragon 730G instead of Snapdragon 712 but with the same software.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 and Mi Pad 4 Plus. This duo launched exclusively in China with MIUI 9 based on Android 8.1 Oreo but it has received only one major update so far and that is MIUI 10.
But now, as these devices support TWRP officially, their users can finally use a solid trustworthy custom recovery to flash custom ROM, kernels, and mods of their choice.

OnePlus devices have been developer-friendly since the very first model – the original OnePlus One. It has been almost six years since its release but still, it is being supported by enthusiastic developers. Thanks to this, the six-year-old phone can boot Android 10 even after the company officially dropped support a long time back.

Over the past few years, there hasn’t been any significant development with regard to multi-boot on Android. But now, XDA recognized developer Zackptg5 has come up with a modified TWRP for the OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro, and OnePlus 7 Pro 5G, which enables true multibooting (never seen before) on them exploiting the A/B partition.

By using this recovery, interested users can now dual-boot two separate ROMs on the above-mentioned OnePlus devices by using the two separate userdata partition (A/B) for each ROM. Furthermore, the modded TWRP also lets users try A/B/C partition, where the ‘C’ data partition accommodates common data for the two different ROMs.

It is worth noting that repartitioning the stock partition layout is not advisable for everyone. Since getting back to the stock partition is always a risky job, you must know how to unbrick your device before proceeding with this dual-boot hack.

For those unaware, TWRP, enables one to replace the stock recovery for a custom recovery to allow smartphone enthusiasts to use custom ROMs and skins on their smartphones. Needless to say, an official support for the same makes it a bit easier and accessible for people looking forward to completely customize their handsets. The reason TWRP is so popular is due to the massive library of smartphones it supports which now also includes Xiaomi Mi A3 and Redmi Note 8 Pro.

Xiaomi Mi A3

The mid range Android One smartphone from the Chinese smartphone maker has had an unofficial port TWRP for a while now. However, official builds are always safer and much more reliable, so it comes as great news for those who waited. Notably, since Xiaomi Mi A3 uses the A/B partition system which doesn’t work well with standard flashing methods, users interested in flashing their devices are advised to read the instructions carefully.

Unlike a regular method of flashing recovery with fastboot flash recovery twrp.img command, one has to use the fastboot boot twrp.img command line. After this, navigate to the Advanced>Install Recovery Ramdisk option, and then select the TWRP recovery image stored on your device’s storage to manually flash it.

Redmi Note 8 Pro

Xiaomi’s subsidiary Redmi has also received the official TWRP support; but it is known to be a bit more difficult to flash and mod, unlike other Snapdragon powered Redmi smartphones. This device is prone to hard brick on users so user caution is advised when flashing the Redmi Note 8 Pro. Users must follow the the exact instructions properly to avoid any complications in the process. Go ahead with the process only if you are sure you can handle it and, or are well versed with the method.

The OnePlus 3/3T has received their final significant updates of Android 9.0 Pie a few days ago. The official software is going to fade away this year for both the devices and the users have to rely on the third-party development for updates to the latest Android version. To facilitate users, we are here to let you know about the rooting procedure of OnePlus 3 and 3T.

The OnePlus 3T comes packed with Snapdragon 821, 6GB RAM, 64/128 GB internal memory, and a dual 16MP camera on the rear side. However, the OnePlus 3 carries a Snapdragon 820 SoC, 6 GB RAM with 64 GB Internal storage. It carries a 16-megapixel + 8-megapixel dual camera shooter on the rear side. On the front, there’s an 8-megapixel lens for beautiful selfies.

The OnePlus 3 was launched with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and it received the Nougat update in the same year. It considerably received every Android update consistently.

The procedure to root either of the devices is the same. Rooting allows users to flash custom ROMS, and extend its functionality via third-party MODs such as Xposed and Substratum. It also allows removing unwanted stock apps from your device.

It comes with all the features that you want in a high-end smartphone sans some negligible shortcomings. If you own a Poco F1 and to unlock the full potential of the phone, you might want to root it. Thus, here in this article, we will guide you step by step on how to root Poco F1.

Last year, out of the blue, Xiaomi formed a sub-brand named Poco focussing on budget flagship smartphones. The first phone which is Poco F1 or Pocophone F1 became popular in a short period and for a good reason. The phone features the top of the line Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with Adreno 630 GPU coupled with either 6 or 8 GB of RAM. It comes in three storage variants – 6GB RAM / 64GB ROM, 6GB RAM / 128GB ROM, and 8GB RAM / 256GB ROM. Additionally, it also supports storage expansion up to 256GB via microSD card.

Though the body of Poco F1 is made of polycarbonate (plastic), it is strong enough to withhold accidental drops, and therefore it is much better than the fragile glass back we seen on premium smartphones these days. As far as cameras are concerned, the phone features a dual camera array at the back which consists of a 12MP primary sensor with f/1.9 aperture and a 5MP depth sensor. The camera specification might seem outdated as all OEMs including Xiaomi have moved to triple or more cameras now. But the pictures taken on Poco F1 are still better than the phones available in the same price segment.

The only downside which we could think of Poco F1 would be its 6.18 inches FHD+ (1080 x 2246 pixels) IPS LCD with a wide notch. However, it makes up that by including an infrared face recognition system in that notch along with a 20MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. The phone also comes with all the necessary sensors such as fingerprint, proximity, accelerometer, gyro, and compass. The connectivity features of the phone include LTE, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, USB type-C, and headphone jack.

On the software front, the Poco F1 launched with MIUI 10 based on Android Oreo and was later updated to Android Pie. The phone is also expected to get Android Q as confirmed by the company itself. Last but not least, it consumes power from a non-removable 4,000 mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging.

Related: Xiaomi Poco F1 MIUI 10.3.4 update brings Widevine L1, 4K 60fps video recording, Game Turbo and more

Since we are done with the introduction of Poco F1, let us go through our step by step guide on how to root it. Make sure to follow each step carefully to avoid any error. Before proceeding, we would recommend you to take a backup of your important files stored on your phone to avoid data loss if anything goes wrong.

If you haven’t unlocked the bootloader of your Poco F1 yet, then consider doing it first as the phone cannot be rooted with a locked bootloader.

Now your device is unlocked!

We suggest not to set up any security settings if you want to root OnePlus 6.

Step 2: Install TWRP on OnePlus 6

Custom Recovery like TWRP gives Android smartphone’s ability to flash custom ROMs and tweak every part of the firmware. The GUI based recovery is the most used custom recovery for Android devices. Follow the steps carefully to install TWRP on OnePlus 6.

Download TWRP image and Installer for your OnePlus 6 from Prerequisites menu above.

Extract Fastboot and ADB drivers on desktop.

Connect your device to PC, and transfer both the ‘twrp-installer-enchilada-3.2.3-0.zip‘ to phone.

Move the ‘twrp-3.2.3-0-enchilada.img‘ file to extracted folder c:\Users\party\Desktop\platform-tools, or to the location where platform-tools are present.

Now Enable Developer option again and turn on the”Advanced Reboot” option.

Boot OnePlus 6 into bootloader mode using the power button.

Open command prompt in the same folder where you’ve extracted the platform-tools.

Once in the bootloader, type the following command to flash TWRP:

fastboot boot twrp-3.2.3-0-enchilada.img

The phone will reboot to TWRP recovery mode.

Swipe the slider resolve warning message of ‘Unmodified system partition.’

Once done, Tap Install and select the ‘twrp-installer-enchilada-3.2.3-0.zip‘ from internal storage.

Swipe the button to install TWRP on your OnePlus 6.

Reboot system and enjoy!

You’ve successfully installed TWRP on OnePlus 6. Now we will proceed to root OnePlus 6 using Magisk.

Step 3: Root OnePlus 6 using Magisk

Magisk is a popular root management app. It is the biggest competitor to SuperSu as it allows the user to grant or deny superuser privileges for every single app. It works well with apps which restrict usage if the device is rooted. Magisk can efficiently hide root status from Google’s SafetyNet. Follow the steps below to root OnePlus 6 successfully. Otherwise, you might up with a bricked device.

Download Magisk Installer Zip from above (Prerequisites section).

Connect it with the PC and move the downloaded file to internal storage.

Now detach the device and power it off.

Press Volume Down + Power button simultaneously to enter TWRP recovery mode.

After booting into recovery, tap the Install button and flash the ‘Magisk Installer zip‘ file from internal storage.

Swipe the button to flash Magisk on OnePlus 6.

Tap Reboot System after the process is complete.

Completing the process will bring root privileges on OnePlus 6. Magisk Installer zip also installs the companion app to control the root access. We recommend to update it before using the app. Several Magisk Modules are also available to extend the functionality of your device.

We hope our guide to install TWRP recovery and root OnePlus 6 using Magisk have helped you. Users can ask any query via the comments box below.

This is evident with the number of custom ROMs available for the smartphone.

While the unofficial TWRP build for the Poco F1 were available for quite some time now, the smartphone has now finally got the official TWRP support. It can be downloaded from the official TWRP website and you can find it by going through the source link.

The TWRP recovery can be installed over USB, but if your device is already rooted, you can use the TWRP app from the Play Store. The developer has warned that the “build of TWRP will (probably) only work with devices using Full Disk Encryption (FDE)” and may not work with devices that have been converted to File-Based Encryption (FBE). It further adds that the FBE support may be added at a later date.

Xiaomi has promised to limit the bootloader unlock wait time for the Pocophone series to “only” 3 days, which is good compared to the company’s other phones but it’s still longer than devices from OnePlus and Google.

To remind you of the Poco F1’s specifications, the phone features a 6.18-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display and is powered by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 845 flagship processor along with LiquidCool technology. The phone comes in three variants — 6GB/8GB RAM with 64GB/128GB/256 internal storage.

It comes equipped with a 12-megapixel Sony IMX363 primary sensor, coupled with a 5-megapixel secondary sensor on the back panel. On the front side, there’s a 20-megapixel selfie camera powered with artificial intelligence.

The smartphone runs on the company’s MIUI with Poco Launcher, based on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system and has started receiving Android Pie update. The device is fuelled by a 4,000mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging technology.

It is a custom recovery which is used to flash custom ROMs on Android devices, to obtain root access and much more. Actually, this is the most famous and the most used custom recovery. Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ have just gained the official support to TWRP recovery. Usually, it takes quite some time for the team to release custom recovery for newly announced Android devices, but it has not been so with the latest flagships by Samsung.

For now, TWRP is only available for the variants of Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ which are equipped with an Exynos 9810 processor. So, we are talking about the European variants of the handsets. The U.S. versions with Snapdragon 845 are not supported yet. The custom recovery is identified with the codename starlte for the Galaxy S9 and star2lte for the S9 Plus. It is possible to download the official TWRP app for free on Play Store, or you can directly download the TWRP recovery mode for the two devices on the official website. Click here if you want to download TWRP for Samsung Galaxy S9 Exynos and here for the S9 Plus Exynos.

To flash TWRP you need to unlock the bootloader of your device. Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ have just hit the shelves all around the world. They offer an Infinity Display with a QHD+ resolution and a size of 5.8 and 6.2 inches, respectively. Among the most important features, there are cameras with a variable aperture which makes them adapt better to every light condition. While the Samsung Galaxy S9 comes with a single camera, the Plus variant has a dual camera on the rear side and even a higher quantity of RAM (6 GB).
