Infinix Inbook Air Pro+: A Gorgeous Display

I had the opportunity to play around with the Inbook Air Pro+ during the launch event. One of the first thing that caught my eye was its gorgeous display. The notebook sports a 14-inch OLED display that offers 2.8K resolution along with a 100 percent sRGB color gamut, and DCI P3 color gamut. Right on top of the screen, the top notch houses an infrared camera that supports Windows Hello facial recognition.

This screen promises to offer sharp visuals and vibrant colors. An OLED panel offers true blacks and a brighter screen, allowing for an enhanced experience when watching your favorite movies and videos. For a price tag of just 49,990 INR, you rarely find an OLED display. That’s not all, an OLED display with this package is another big deal. So let’s see what else it offers.

Premium Metal & Slim Body

The Infinix Inbook Air Pro+ is a thin and light laptop and it shows with its ultra slim 4.5mm body and just 1kg of heft. It isn’t rare to find such laptops, but these are typically a lot more expensive. Infinix cut no corners with its design, opting for an all metal body rather than blending metal with plastic to save on cost.

My only gripe with the laptop was that it was a bit difficult to open with one hand. But the build quality is top notch. It is deceptively light and feels just as premium as more expensive options. Despite being ultra slim, the Inbook Air Pro+ still offers USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, and a microSD card slot. It even houses capable hardware which we can now check out.

Capable Specifications

Under the hood, the company launched the Infinix Inbook Air Pro+ with Intel’s 13the Gen Core i5 processor. This is a great processor that offers a balance between performance and energy efficiency. The 13th Gen Intel i5 is good for multitasking and ensures your laptop won’t hang during regular use. Some brands still sell outdated 11th Gen or 12th Gen powered laptops, but Infinix managed to offer a more up to date model at this price.

This CPU is paired with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage. 16GB is a must have in today’s day and age, but sadly Infinix doesn’t offer an empty slot for storage expansion and even the RAM modules are soldered on. A 57Whr battery pack powers this model, which supports 65W wired fast charging via a USB-C port. If you’re a working professional in the corporate world or a student in university, this laptop is easily recommendable since it checks all the right boxes.

In January, Acer announced the Swift 14 (SF14-71T-74F) laptop at CES 2023. The brand states that this thin and light notebook is a spiritual successor of the popular Swift 5 laptop and boasts a high-end CNC-machined aluminum body with dual-anodized gold-colored edges.

Currently, Acer is offering only one model of this machine that features a 14-inch 2560 x 1600 60 Hz IPS touchscreen display and an Intel i7-13700H processor. It also has 16 GB LPDDR5 RAM soldered onto the motherboard and a 1TB PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD for storage. This model has a price tag of $1,399.99 in the US.

Acer intends to offer a more affordable option of the Swift 14 laptop, estimated to be priced around US$1,000. This variant is likely to feature an i5-13500H processor, 8 GB LPDDR5 RAM, 512 GB storage, and a 14-inch touchscreen displaying 1920 x 1200 resolution. The RAM specifications also indicate a pricier edition with 32 GB capacity.

All versions of the Swift 14 laptop come with a standard set of features, including 2x Thunderbolt 4 and 2x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 connector, an HDMI 2.1 video output, and an audio jack. The laptop also offers wireless connectivity via an Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.1 card. The audio system comprises two 2W speakers that are powered by DTS Audio, a 1440p webcam with temporal noise reduction and dual mic array, and a fingerprint sensor that is cleverly integrated into the power button. The laptop’s battery can keep it running for up to 16 hours on a single charge.

Acer offers the Swift 14 in two striking color options: Mist Green and Steam Blue. The laptop is incredibly slim, measuring a mere 0.59 inches (14.95 mm) in thickness, and weighs approximately 2.65 lbs (1.2 kg).

Among them, the Lenovo Xiaoxin Pro 16 Ultrabook 2023 caught the eye with its sleek and lightweight design that weighs only 1.95kg and measures 17.5mm in thickness. This makes this laptop a great portable option for those who are looking for a power-packed machine as well.

Equipped with an Intel 13th generation Core i5-13500H standard pressure processor, the Xiaoxin Pro 16 Ultrabook 2023 boasts an 18% increase in performance compared to its predecessor. Besides announcing the Huawei Mate 50 series at the brand’s September 6 launch event, Huawei revealed today that the brand will be also launching its Surface Pro X notebook laptop competitor, the Huawei Matebook E Go (2022) at the autumn launch event as well.

On Huawei’s official Weibo social media account today, the brand posted that it will be launching its latest generation of convertible tablet notebook laptops, the Huawei Matebook E Go (2022) at the launch event alongside its highly anticipated Huawei Mate 50 series of flagship smartphones. Huawei markets the Huawei Matebook E Go as a beautifully designed productivity lightweight solution that has as much grace as it has in performance.

The social media post did not reveal the specifications or features of the Huawei Matebook E Go. However, it did show the design of the Huawei Matebook E Go.

The Huawei Matebook E Go (2022) is a detachable 2-in-1 tablet notebook laptop, which features a similar form factor to the Microsoft Surface Pro X laptop and Apple’s iPad Pro series of tablets. Alongside the Matebook E Go (2022) is a color-matching folio keyboard cover that features a trackpad, as well as a stylus that magnetically attaches to the side of the laptop, making it easier to carry around.

As for the operating system, the promo image shows that the device is running on Windows 11. For ports and connectivity, we see a Type-C USB port that should support charging and data transfers, and a 3.5mm headphone jack for wired audio when you need it. There also seems to be a front-facing webcam for video calls, and a rear camera for taking photos if needed.

From the picture, the Huawei Matebook E Go (2022) notebook will be arriving in both Black and White, and the folio keyboard cover will be available in either Black or Rose Gold.

Although Huawei hasn’t confirmed the internal specs of the Huawei Matebook E Go (2022), several certifications and leaks of the Huawei Matebook E Go have already surfaced online.

According to the Chinese tech news site ITHome, the Huawei Matebook E Go (2022) will feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 mobile platform, which runs on TSMC’s highly efficient 5nm process and has low power draw with its max TDP of 15W. Lastly, the notebook has support for 65W fast wired charging via USB-C Power Delivery.

Huawei recently launched its flagship laptops for this year in the form of the Huawei MateBook 16s which was available for pre-order in the Chinese market earlier this month.

Now, the company has officially started selling the top-end model in China. This model, powered by the Core i9 processor, is priced at 8,799 yuan which is about $1,313.

The Huawei MateBook 16s comes equipped with a 16-inch display that offers a screen resolution of 2520 x 1680 pixels, a 3:2 aspect ratio, and a 90 percent screen-to-body ratio. It also has 300 nits of brightness and a 1500:1 contrast ratio along with support for a 100% sRGB color gamut.

Under the hood, this model is powered by the 12th generation Intel Core i9-12900H processor which has 14 cores and 20 threads. It offers a turbo frequency of up to 5GHz and supports LPDDR5 memory.

It has a soldered 16GB of RAM, meaning that the RAM cannot to switch out for the upgrade. As for the storage, the SSD provided on the laptop is an NVME PCIe SSD which Huawei didn’t specify the generation.

The device comes with a fingerprint sensor on the power button for biometric security. As one of Huawei’s flagship offerings, it features an upgraded 1080p wide-angle front-facing webcam for video calls, 4 microphones to ensure call quality is clear, and front-facing dual stereo speakers for a better multimedia audio experience.

The Huawei MateBook 16s is powered by an 84Wh battery and charges up to 135W via USB-C. It has two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, one full-function USB-C port, one Thunderbolt 4 USB-C port, one HDMI 2.0 port, and one 3.5mm headphone jack.

As more and more ultrabooks are launched in China bearing Intel’s latest 12th Gen Alder Lake CPUs, it was about time for laptop manufacturers to bring their Intel 12th Gen laptops to the global market.

After months of waiting, today, Lenovo has finally taken the initiative to launch its first Intel 12th Gen Alder Lake ultrabook in the global market, the Lenovo Thinkbook 14 Gen 4+. The Lenovo Thinkbook 14 Gen 4+ was officially announced in Malaysia today and is now available for purchase starting from only RM4239 (999 USD).

If the design of the ultrabook looks familiar, then your instinct serves you correct as this laptop was actually launched in China earlier in March 2022 bearing the model name, Lenovo ThinkBook 14+ instead. However, the global variant(Lenovo ThinkBook 14 Gen 4+) has more customisation options compared to the China variant.

Let’s start with the processors under the hood. Compared to the 2 options available on the China variant, the Lenovo ThinkBook 14 Gen 4+ is configurable with 6 Intel 12th Gen CPU options, namely the Core i5-1235U (15W), i5-1240P (28W), i5-12500H (45W), i7-1255U (15W), i7-1260P (28W), and the i7-12700H (45W).

To facilitate a more efficient work environment, the Lenovo ThinkBook 14 Gen 4+ is also equipped with the latest LDDR5 RAM(8GB/16GB/32GB options) and with optional WiFi 6E support to keep your workflow smooth and fast. The ultrabook is also configurable to include an RTX 2050 graphics card onboard for those who want to do gaming in their free time.

Moving onto the screen, the Lenovo ThinkBook 14 Gen 4+ is a noticeable upgrade from its predecessor as it can now be equipped with a 14 inch 16:10, up to 400 nits, 90Hz, 100% sRGB, 2.8K (2880 × 1800) IPS Display. On the durability front, buyers will be glad to know that the ThinkBook 14 Gen 4+ features solid and robust aluminium build. The laptop is equipped with dual fans and support for Intelligent cooling to help prevent the laptop from overheating.

Despite its relatively thin and light chassis, the Lenovo ThinkBook 14 Gen 4+ includes a wide variety of port selections which include one USB-C Thunderbolt 4 port, one USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 (full-function: USB/DP/PD), two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, one USB 2.0 port, one HDMI 2.0 port, one RJ45 port, a 3-in-1 Micro SD card reader (SD/SDHC/SDXC), and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Intel announced its 12th Gen Alder Lake Mobile Processors back in January during CES 2022, and this year, Intel has the confidence to compete with AMD in the laptop chip market with its 45W H-series for gaming laptops, 28W P-series for premium thin and light ultrabooks, and 15W U-series for the user who needs the power to go a full day on a single charge.

As of current, we are only seeing the H-series processors in the market in devices such as the Lenovo Legion 5i and Legion 5i Pro 2022 refresh and the Asus Tianxuan 3 gaming laptop available in China. However, a new benchmark in Geekbench 5 indicates that Lenovo is currently testing out the Alder Lake 12th Gen Intel Core Mobile processors on its upcoming premium thin and light ultrabook.

The Geekbench 5 listing shows that the Lenovo device model is codenamed “LENOVO 4810RD0100” and it is sporting an Intel Core i7-1280P Alder Lake processor under the hood. Equipped with 32GB of LPDDR5 2593MHz of RAM, the device has scored 1784 in single-core tests, and 9790 in multi-core tests. These results are astonishing, as this 12th Gen Alder Lake 28W Core i7 P-series mobile processor managed to exceed the scores of last year’s core i9-11980HK found in gaming laptops.

As for the details of the Intel Core i7-1280P chip, it has a total of 14 cores and 20 threads. 6 of those cores are P-cores(Performance Cores) for heavy workloads and 8 E-cores(Efficiency Cores) for lighter tasks. Each P-core has a base clock of 1.8GHz and a turbo frequency of 4.8GHz, whereas each E-core has a base clock of 1.3GHz and a turbo frequency of 3.6GHz.

The processor also has 24MB of L3 cache, 96EUs of Intel Iris XE Graphics. It runs on 28W of base power and its maxes out at 64W on turbo. 

Intel has finally brought out its A-Game (Alder Lake) to laptops this year and we are excited to see how collaborations with its laptop manufacturing partners, Lenovo, Dell and Asus will turn out for users in 2022.

Many new and updated laptops have been announced at the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show 2022, and joining the bandwagon is Acer, which has announced the updated lineup of its Swift X ultraportable laptops.

There are two Acer Swift X models, one featuring a 14-inch display and another with a 16-inch display. However, both the devices come powered by Intel’s new 12th generation processors and one of them packs Intel Arc GPU.

The 14-inch Acer Swift X features a screen resolution of 2240 x 1400 pixels while the 16-inch model comes with up to 2560 x 1600 pixels screen resolution. Both the models come with support for a 16:10 aspect ratio.

Under the hood, the devices come powered by a new 12th-generation Intel Core processor paired with the new Arc graphics processor from Intel. That is paired with up to 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 2TB SSD storage.

The 14-inch model is available with Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3050 Ti laptop GPU or integrated graphics. Both the models run the Windows 11 operating system out-of-the-box.

They come with two Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB-A ports, an HDMI 2.0 port, and a fingerprint reader. The laptops are lightweight too as the company says the 14-inch model weighs 3.09 lbs, while the 16-inch model weighs 3.95 lbs.

As of now, Acer hasn’t announced pricing or availability for the new Swift X laptops, so we don’t know exactly when or at what cost you’ll be able to get your hands on them. However, the devices are expected to be available in the UK by the end of February or the start of March.

Lenovo is apparently planning on launching a new laptop to boost its thin and light ultrabook portfolio. A recent video leak revealed the Yoga Slim 7i Carbon, which features an ultra thin design with the branding, “Whatever you have learned about laptops, unlearn them.”

According to a Neowin report, a Twitter leak from WalkingCat (@_h0x0d_) revealed that the laptop maker is launching a new ultrabook within its Yoga 7 series. While the Yoga 9 series is generally known for the premium high end models, the company is promising the new Yoga 7i Carbon to be “strikingly white”, “made of unyielding carbon”, “ultra-light”, “uncompromisingly durable”, “sleek”, and “with unmatched performance,” among other buzz words.

However, the teaser video leaked by WalkingCat shared no other details regarding the laptop. So, we do not have a lot of information to go on at the moment. Although, the laptop is likely to be a high end ultrabook, which would probably arrive with Intel’s latest 11th Gen Tiger Lake processors. But that is just speculation, so take this report with a pinch of salt. The only thing known about the laptop is its external design, ith dominant white accents. So, stay tuned for more updates, which are likely to arrive soon as a teaser video is indicative that Lenovo may soon unveil more details.

Intel has just unveiled its latest 11th Gen Tiger Lake processors for laptops. These new CPUs will power thin and light notebooks and will feature the company’s new integrated Xe graphics.

Intel will be launching 9 new 11th Gen chips for both its U series (now called UP3) and Y series (now called UP4) lineup. The latest generation will be led by the Core i7-1185G7, which features a 3.0GHz base clock and up to 4.8GHz turbo clock and a maximum boost clock of 4.3GHz. This chip also features Intel’s Iris Xe integrated graphics that has 96 CUs and a maximum frequency of 1.35GHz.

Ultrabooks with thin and light design will feature these new chips and are expected to arrive later this year. Intel is aiming at a TDP of around 7W to 28W with these new chips, which also support Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 6, and a notable bump in performance and battery life over its predecessor, the Ice Lake chips. At the moment, the company has provided various benchmarks comparing it to its primary rival AMD. However, we will have to wait for real world tests once these chips are actually available.

Notably, Intel is also betting big on its Xe integrated graphics with these new chips. According to official claims, the new integrated GPUs are offering a better graphical performance when compared to a 10th Gen chip running with an NVIDIA MX350 GPU. Keep in mind, that Xe is only available for i5 and i7 chips, while the i3 will still feature the Intel UHD Graphics. Notably, the company is also debuting a new iteration of its Project Athena certification standard, dubbed “Intel Evo.”

Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has announced that the company’s new laptop dubbed as Honor MagicBook Pro, is all set to get unveiled in China. The company has also released a teaser video hinting at some of its features.

The teaser video shared by Honor claims that the device will come with a full-screen design, high-end performance and lighter in weight. However, the company has not yet revealed any specifications of this upcoming laptop.

Last month, leaks and reports suggested that the MagicBook Pro will come with a 16.1-inch display and have multiple variants based on the processor and memory configuration. As per the reports, it will start with Intel Core i5-8265U processor with an optional Nvidia MX250 graphics card.

We expect the device to have 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The device also features dual speakers on both the sides of the keyboard. There’s also a web camera hidden in the middle of the functions key, similar to what we’ve seen in the previous generation models. The power key on the device will also house the fingerprint sensor for added security.

While the teaser video has been released by the Chinese company, there’s no information about the official launch date, pricing, and availability details. However, since Honor has started teasing the device, the launch could take place pretty soon.
