Today, UMIDIGI announced that its next flagship, the successor of F1, the UMIDIGI F2, will be officially revealed globally on September 23rd. As we’ve seen in previous news, the device will be the first Android 10 phone of the Chinese manufacturer and will come with a hole-punch display as well as a 48MP AI quad-camera. Now, new leaked render confirms these specs and reveals more information.

For starters, the render shows that it will come in 2 colors: Gradient Blue and Black. Also, following the industry trends, the back cover will have a curved texture when the light hits on it. As you can see, the photo indicates that the selfie shooter will host a 32MP sensor which is assumed to be the same flagship sensor found in Huawei P30 Pro and Honor 20 Pro, Samsung GD1. What’s also revealed is that the F2 will feature a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, leaving the back cover clean and more consistent-looking.

In addition, it is confirmed that the main camera will be a vertically-aligned quad setup with a 48MP main sensor plus ultra-wide, macro, and depth cameras. It seems unbelievable that such a camera setup shows up in budget flagship already but you better believe it.

The upcoming flagship, UMIDIGI F2, will feature such a camera setup with a dedicated macro lens according to the latest leak.

The information that surfaced refers to a fourth camera in addition to the traditional triple setup. The additional camera on the F2 has a 5MP macro lens and sits just below the LED flash and is able to take close-up shots from just 2 centimeters away. This is very useful especially for nature fans that can use it to shoot detailed photos of small insects or the pollen inside a flower for example. But tech fans can also use it to take close up photos of small ports and buttons on devices.

As the image leaked reveals, the main camera hosts a 48MP sensor of 1/2″ in size, f/1.79 aperture, and 1.6μm (4in1) pixel size. The top 5MP camera acts as a depth camera for better bokeh effect on portraits while the bottom unit is a 13MP ultra-wide-angle camera with 120 degrees FoV.

Previous information had revealed that the new flagship will ship with Android 10 out-of-the-box and a punch-hole selfie shooter of probably 32MP. According to three posters leaked earlier, the successor of the very successful F1 will be the 1st device of the company to come with Android 10 preinstalled.

Besides the Android version, one of the most notable elements is the notch-less design. There is no pop-up camera as the UMIDIGI F2 will be coming with a punch hole at the top left corner of the display, covering a small area like Samsung’s flagship Galaxy Note 10 and the Honor 20 Pro. Also, the chin at the bottom is very thin and the rest of the specs, virtually non-existent. Judging from the frame color, it is safe to assume that it will come with a gradient blue back-cover to pair the blue frame.

Some more information is revealed from the watermark citing “SHOT ON UMIDIGI F2 48MP AI QUAD CAMERA” at the bottom left corner of the screen, which means the F2 will have a quad-camera setup with a 48 MP primary sensor.
