Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab A9+ Kids Edition in Indonesia towards the end of last year with a customized exterior that better protects it from external damage. Now the company has announced the availability of the Tab A9+ Kids Edition in the US with a price tag of $270 for 4GB + 64GB configuration. For context, the standard Tab A9+ is currently available for $179 for the same configuration.

The Kids Edition comes with a customized UI and three different colors on the exterior – Blue, Red, and Yellow.

It is powered by the Snapdragon 695 chipset. While the chipset is 5G capable and the standard Galaxy Tab A9+ also offers 5G connectivity, the Kids Edition solely relies on WiFi.

It packs an 11″ TFT LCD display that has a resolution of 1920 x 1200. It packs an 8MP camera on the back and a 5MP one on the front. It has a dimension of 168.7 x 257.1 x 6.9mm and weighs 480g. There is a 7040mAh battery inside, which is the same as the standard version. It also supports the same 15W charging speed.

Samsung Kids App offers a number of controls to the parents

According to the company, this new product is meant to ensure a safer environment for kids in this digital age. “The Galaxy Tab A9+ Kids Edition is designed to provide a space for children to use technology safely, while also providing them the room to learn, grow, create, stream, and explore,” said Drew Blackard, Vice President of Mobile Product Management. He also revealed that parents can even create profiles for their children and personalize their settings.

The device comes preloaded with the Samsung Kids app which empowers parents to curate customized safety protocols. With this feature, parents will have the ability to set specific screen time limits, restrict access to certain apps, and monitor their children’s online activities.

This person is wanted for money laundering and running an illegal money transmitting business. To find him, authorities had undercover agents to send out tutorials via YouTube on mapping via drones and augmented reality software. You might think this is normal for catching criminals. But, the videos were public and for example on of them was watched by over 30,000 people.

That means the data of potentially tens of thousands of users was exposed through these videos, which were accessible to anyone, including you. This tactic raises questions about the balance between online investigations and user privacy. Unfortunately, Google had to disclose those data. According to Senator Ron Wyden’s letter, the NSA is purportedly purchasing information about individuals in the United States. The agency collects internet records, including visited websites and used apps, along with data from sources like phone calls, emails, internet browsing, social media activities, and location data.

Actually, this is not a surprise for anyone. The first evidence of NSA purchasing data from data brokers was revealed by Edward Snowden in 2013. Snowden claimed that the NSA used these data to create profiles on individuals worldwide, including American citizens. Now, Senator Ron Wyden’s statements confirm this.

Moreover, it is not known from whom the data was obtained or under what conditions it was collected. For instance, the NSA might have purchased your data from hackers using the money paid from your taxes. Senator Ron Wyden brought this issue to light and demanded the government to stop this practice.

Motorola introduced the Moto Razr 40 Ultra in the US under the name Motorola Razr+. The foldable smartphone is well known for its refined aesthetics and a small 2.6-inch Quick View display. But for some users, the smartphone is having an issue with not receiving the new firmware updates. There are multiple threads on Motorola’s support forum filled with complaints related to the updates.

The issue seems to have been affecting the users since summer, and even for some users, the issue has persisted since the day they made the purchase. Such users have not received a single firmware update on their respective Motorola Razr+ smartphones. The Motorola Razr+ units are stuck on the May 2023 security patch due to the issue. A user named Grethy on Motorola Forums posted, “My Razr 40 Ultra has not had an update and is still running the May security update. Is it normal to be 3 months behind on security updates, or is there an issue with my phone? I have version T1TZS33.3-62-39-1Is this the current version? Thanks!”

Motorola’s tedious support seems to be repeating for the Motorola Razr+ after the Motorola Razr 2020 and 2022. Some users are even switching to Samsung Galaxy Foldables due to the poor support from Motorola. A fine example of this is a user named Garek who posted, “I’m still on May update no update here in Australia this is a repeat of my 2020,2022 razr’s lackluster support I actually sold my ultra bought a flip5 straight away got the August security patch I have no regrets selling it,I wish you all the best just think in China it’s had its 2nd software update for the rest like playing poker luck of the draw…peace mate..”

Possible Fix for Users Using Windows Machine

Some Motorola Razr+ users are able to rectify the issue with Motorola’s Rescue and Smart Assistant utility. They were able to pull the new update after a full factory reset using the RSA utility. However, the users on the Mac and Linux are left with no working solution.

From the replies of company employees, it seems Motorola is aware of the issue and has been working to fix the bug for months. However, some lucky users get it rectified automatically with every new firmware that the company sends.

The Future of Warfare: Microsoft Mixed Reality Goggles and the US Army

Actually, Microsoft’s agreement with the US Army is not surprising. Especially if we include artificial intelligence. The company has signed many agreements worth billions of dollars with the Ministry of Defense so far. Now, the US Army has awarded Microsoft with another order of advanced mixed reality goggles designed for combat situations.

The new order is worth $125 million and will be used to further develop the Integrated Visual Augmentation System, which is a mixed reality headset that provides soldiers with enhanced situational awareness. The IVAS headset is based on Microsoft’s HoloLens technology and features a number of features that are designed to improve the safety and effectiveness of soldiers in combat.

These features include: A heads-up display that can project information such as maps, enemy positions, and friendly forces directly onto the soldier’s field of view. A thermal imaging camera that can be used to see in low-light conditions. A laser rangefinder that can be used to measure distances to targets. A communication system that allows soldiers to stay in touch with each other and with command headquarters.

The IVAS headset has been in development for several years and has undergone extensive testing by the US Army. Huawei and SMIC at Risk of Losing Access to US Tech

A US lawmaker is calling for the US government to stop exporting technology to Huawei and SMIC, following the discovery of new chips in Huawei Mate 60 that may violate trade restrictions. Representative Michael Gallagher, chair of the House of Representatives’ committee on China, said in a statement that the new chips “likely could not be produced without US technology” and that SMIC may have violated the Department of Commerce’s Foreign Direct Product Rule. He says that this is a threat to national security.

Gallagher’s proposal is likely to face opposition from some businesses, who say that it would hurt the US economy. But he argues that it is necessary to protect national security. As we mention above, Huawei has been under US sanctions since 2019, when the Trump administration added the company to a trade blacklist over national security concerns.

The sanctions have made it difficult for Huawei to obtain the components it needs to make its products. But, Gallagher says that these sanctions have not been enough. He wants to completely cut off the two companies from US technology. It is unclear whether the US government will heed Gallagher’s call. It’s been a roller-coaster day for users who would like to try the new One UI 6.0 Beta, as the update is live in some countries, and the rollout is delayed in others. Well, with some delays, Samsung is now rolling out One UI 6.0 Beta 2 update for the Galaxy S23 Series in the US and Germany. Several users are reporting the arrival of new beta on their respective devices.

There are several changes that are part of the One UI 6.0 Beta 2, including a bunch of fixes for major issues. Following the trend from One UI Watch 5.0, the new OneUI 6.0 also bundles great improvements for Samsung Health. The app received a major facelift for its Home screen via the One UI 6.0 Beta 2. The user can now change the water cup settings in the Health App. There are multiple fixes for different apps including S Pen, Repair Mode, Netflix App, and features such as Multi-Window, Music Share, etc.

• Improved an intermittent infinite loading and playing error when using Netflix.

Microsoft is apparently working on a new and upgraded HoloLens headset. However, this model is not for consumers but could be used by US military personnel. The company’s upgraded HoloLens are being tested as Combat Goggles by the US Army.

Microsoft AR Combat Goggles: How does it work?

The American tech giant recently confirmed that it is delivering the IVAS 1.2 devices (Integrated Visual Augmentation System) to the US Army. These AR (Augmented Reality) headsets are thinner and lighter than previous iterations and seek to enhance the soldier’s performance on the field. These HoloLens-based combat goggles will improve battlefield awareness. Infantry units can now see the position of their squad mates get vital health stats and use night vision. It can also aid in planning and coordinating strikes and notify soldiers when their ally is injured.

The Army is currently testing around 20 prototype IVAS goggles with two squads. These tests will check its performance in low light conditions, test its reliability, and see if it’s viable for the soldiers. Previous iterations caused eye strain and discomfort and made the soldiers feel sick. Some of their key functionalities had also failed often.

The tests will kick off in late August, while Microsoft will deliver the improved IVAS systems by the end of this month. Depending on these tests, the US Army might sign an official contract by next, while operational combat tests might kick off in 2025. The US military might spend 21.9 billion US Dollars in ten years for over 121,000 IVAS units.
