VAIO SX12 special blue-gold color edition unveiled, comes with ‘Ultrasuede’ cloth

VAIO‘s official Hong Kong website today unveiled a special edition of its VAIO SX12 notebook called “Kachi-iro”, inspired by the traditional Samurai colors. As such, the laptop is painted an attractive brushed indigo/navy blue, accented by gold for a touch of elegance.

The VAIO SX12 Kachi-iro was built for the 5th anniversary of VAIO (via: IT Home) and comes with a special made-in-Japan ‘Ultrasuede’ cloth. VAIO says that the exclusive color is a symbol of its pride and honor from its inheritance of the mantle of Japanese manufacturing. And as a cherry on top, the indigo color should also bring the laptop’s user good luck, just as it used to bring to the Samurais of a bygone era.

Coming to its actual specifications, the VAIO SX12 notebook adopts an ultra-lightweight design and weighs only 899 grams, despite having a moderately large 12.5-inch 1080p display. It is powered by Intel’s eighth-generation Core i5-8265U and i7-8565U processors. The body has been crafted out of aluminum and stainless steel that houses a single fan for heat dissipation. The keyboard comes with backlight support.

The laptop comes with 8GB and 16GB RAM variants. Storage can be chosen between 256GB or 512GB NVMe SSD.

But perhaps the most interesting bit of the VAIO SX12 is the slew of ports and interfaces it comes with. Whether it’s VGA, RJ-45, HDMI interface, SD card slot, or Type-C port, you name it and it’s there. All this has little compromise on the device’s weight and width.

The laptop comes with a special lid design that lifts its base when it’s opened. It has support for PD fast charging with a battery life of 10.5 hours.

Last but not the least, a VAIO SX12 Kachi-iro edition purchase will also grant you a special “Ultrasuede” wiping cloth made using Japanese Toray technology. The cloth will be sporting a VAIO trademark on the front, of course.
