Vivo is one of the few OEMs to partner with Google to offer its users the latest version of Android before release. Though it is primarily meant for developers to test their app, any user can install it if they want to. The company released Android 11 Beta 1 for iQOO 3 4G/5G and Vivo Nex 3S in June. Now, after two months, the company releases Beta 2 for these devices.

Going by the build number of the update files, the Android 11 Beta 2 for the supported Vivo handsets were released in late July after OnePlus 8/8 Pro got them. Since Vivo is not popular among tech enthusiasts, the update remained under the hill until PiunikaWeb spotted it.

The installation procedure is simple as users don’t need PC or any knowledge of flash tools. All they have to do is download the update package from the link provided from the below on their phone.

Then, simply open any file manager app and tap on the downloaded file to initiate the installation procedure. This will factory reset the phone and therefore, make sure to create a backup of important files beforehand.

In a similar manner, users can return back to the stable Android 10 build by downloading and installing the rollback package provided below.

As for bugs, the company says that the battery level indicator is blocked by the punch hole camera on iQOO 3. Whereas, on Nex 3S, users cannot use Vivo Wallet feature.

Google officially released Android 11 Beta 1 for Pixels a couple of days back. As expected, some of the partner OEMs also announced their involvement in the program. Oppo was the first company to reveal, followed by OnePlus, Xiaomi, Poco, and Realme. Now, Vivo and iQOO have also declared their association in the beta program with their Nex 3S and iQOO 3 handsets.

Google began to involve partner OEMs in the Android Beta program from Android Pie. Most of the companies released AOSP build for its users. But from last year, almost all of them delivered builds with their own skin like MIUI, OxygenOS, etc. The trend continues this year as well.

Hence, the Android 11 Beta 1 for Vivo Nex 3S and iQOO 3 is available as FuntouchOS and iQOO UI. Also, the update is available for both 4G and 5G variants of iQOO 3 that are sold in India.

Vivo says it will be releasing the second build in late July, which will be soon followed by stable release once Google officially launches Android 11 in August.

The currently available builds are not suitable for all users as they have some major bugs like the in-display fingerprint sensor. Anyway, if you are still interested, you can download them from the link provided below.

Once downloaded, copy the file to your device and navigate to Settings > System Update > Local Update. Do note that this will reset your phone and hence make sure to create a backup of your data before proceeding.

Design

The presence of a Waterfall FullView, notch-less and holeless display would definitely let me go for the Vivo NEX 3S 5G if I had to choose the device with the most amazing design. But let’s explain those three terms better. The Waterfall display of the NEX 3S 5G is a display with extremely curved edges reaching almost 90 degrees: thanks to this solution, not only the phone provides a very high screen-to-body ratio, but it also replaces the physical buttons with a side touch technology. Further, it is a display without notch and holes since the phone sports a motorized pop-up camera. When it comes to the whole body of the devices, I personally prefer the Oppo Find X2 since it comes in a ceramic version and it is splash proof and dust resistant with the IP54 certification. I would not go for the Xiaomi Mi 10 at all.

Display

Oppo Find X2 is equipped with the king of displays: a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel with a high Quad HD+ resolution, a high 120 Hz refresh rate and a high 240 Hz touch sampling rate, a very high brightness and an amazing color accuracy (100% DCI-P3 coverage and 0.8 JNCD certified). The silver medal goes to the Xiaomi Mi 10 sporting a Full HD+ AMOLED panel with a 90 Hz refresh rate. Unfortunately, Vivo NEX 3S 5G does not provide a high refresh rate, but it has a wide 6.89-inch panel which is even HDR10+ compliant, so still a great display. But obviously, Oppo Find X2 wins the comparison.

Hardware/Software

Oppo Find X2, Vivo NEX 3S 5G, and Xiaomi Mi 10 5G are all powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset supporting dual-mode 5G connectivity and paired with up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage. Vivo NEX 3S 5G is slightly more advanced because it packs a UFS 3.1 internal storage, while Xiaomi Mi 10 5G and Oppo Find X2 come with UFS 3.0 storage. But this does not mean Vivo NEX 3S 5G will automatically offer the highest performance as software optimization will play an important role here. Android 10 is installed out of the box and highly-customized by ColorOS 7, Funtouch OS 10 and MIUI 11, respectively.

Camera

While Xiaomi Mi 10 offers the most impressive main sensor in its quad rear camera, it does not offer so much when it comes to secondary sensors. Well, it can record 8K videos, but unlike Oppo Find X2, it lacks a telephoto lens. On the paper, I personally prefer the Oppo Find X2 due to the presence of a telephoto lens and a 64 MP main sensor (both supporting OIS), as well as a higher-end selfie camera. Vivo NEX 3S 5G is inferior to both: despite coming with a telephoto sensor, it does not support OIS, either for the main sensor of its triple camera. Further, the main sensor is a midrange-class Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1.

Battery

The battery is one of the strongest points of Xiaomi Mi 10: despite being a more affordable version, it has an even bigger battery than Mi 10 Pro with a huge 4780 mAh capacity, and it will probably last a lot more than Oppo Find X2 and Vivo NEX 3S 5G. Further, unlike its two rivals, it features both fast wireless charging and reverse wireless charging. Vivo NEX 3S 5G comes right after in terms of battery life, while Oppo Find X2 has the fastest charging technology.

Price

Oppo Find X2 starts from €701/$792 in China, Vivo NEX 3S 5G will be priced €630/$712 in its base variant, and Xiaomi Mi 10’s listing price will be just €530/$599 for the base variant. If we exclude battery life, Oppo Find X2 is way superior to Vivo NEX 3S 5G and Xiaomi Mi 10 5G in terms of overall specifications. So if you want the best phone, you should go for it unless you need a very long battery life: in that case, Xiaomi Mi 10 5G is a more convincing device. Vivo NEX 3S 5G offers the most impressive aesthetics and a bigger display, but it lacks a flagship camera and a high refresh rate that is the trending feature of the moment.

Vivo will be launching the Vivo NEX 3S 5G smartphone on March 10 in China. The entire specifications of the phone have been revealed through its TENAA listing. The handset is said to be arriving as a Snapdragon 865 powered version of the Vivo NEX 3 5G phone that was announced in September last year. Pricebaba has come across the Google Play Console listing of the Vivo NEX 3S 5G phone ahead of launch. The listing has revealed some of the key specs of the phone along with an image.

The Vivo NEX 3S 5G phone has a notch-less waterfall display with extremely curved display. The screen of the phone supports 1080 x 2256 pixels full HD+ resolution and a pixel density of 441ppi. The handset seems to feature the same waterfall display that was made available on the Vivo NEX 3 5G smartphone. Like the NEX 3 phone, the upcoming NEX 3S seems to be fitted with a pop-up selfie camera setup.

The Google Play Console listing reveals that the Snapdragon 865 mobile platform which includes Adreno 650 graphics powers the Vivo NEX 3S 5G smartphone. The SoC is coupled with 8 GB of RAM and the phone is loaded with Android 10 OS.

Earlier today, Vivo confirmed that it will be announcing the Vivo NEX 3S 5G through an online unveil event on March 10. Recent reports have revealed that the smartphone has a model number of V1950A. The specs of the Vivo V1950A have already leaked through its TENAA appearance. Apart from emerging on TENAA, the phone was also spotted at the database of 3C authority in January. The Vivo NEX 3S 5G will be debuting as an improve version of the Snapdragon 855+ mobile platform powered Vivo NEX 3 5G that was announced in September last year. A reliable leakster from China has shared some details on the improved features that will be available on the Vivo NEX 3S 5G.

It is already known that the Snapdragon 855+ SoC will be swapped with a more powerful Snapdragon 865 mobile platform. The 3C appearance of the phone had revealed that the phone could be shipping with a charger that will support maximum charging speed of 55W. The leakster claims that the pre-production unit of the smartphone supports 55W charging. However, the company may sell the phone with a 44W charger in the market.

The Vivo NEX 3 5G came with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 3.0 storage. However, the upgraded Vivo NEX 3S 5G will be arriving with the latest technologies of LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. Vivo recently announced its APEX 2020 Concept Smartphone and now the Chinese company is all set to launch a new smartphone under NEX, the company’s another lineup for experimental devices.

A landing page for the Vivo NEX 3S smartphone on Tmall has revealed that the smartphone will be officially launched in China on 10th March at a launch event at 2:30 PM local time. The phone is said to come powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC, the flagship chipset which will be powering most of the flagship phones getting launched this year.

Further, it has also been reported that the smartphone will be featuring a waterfall screen and the device will come powered by 55W Pump Charging, one of the fastest charging technology out there, after OPPO‘s 65W fast charge.

Recently, a new Vivo 5G smartphone with model number “V1950A” was spotted on TENAA along with the phone’s renders. While the name of that device has not been confirmed yet, it is believed to be the upcoming Vivo NEX 3S.

The TENAA listing reveals that the upcoming device from Vivo will look similar to its predecessor, Vivo NEX 3. It also reveals that the phone measures 167.44 × 76.14 × 9.4 mm and weighs 219.5 grams.

Vivo left us in awe when it unveiled the APEX 2020 phone last week. The concept phone boasts features such as 60W superfast wireless charging, an under-display selfie camera, a 48MP gimbal camera, and a waterfall display with a 120° curve radius. While the APEX 2020 may not launch as a commercial device soon, Vivo has a new phone in the pipeline that will be available for purchase. A leak from China says this phone will launch as the Vivo NEX 3S 5G.

The info was revealed on Weibo yesterday by Digital Chat Station. The Chinese leaker stated that the Vivo NEX 3S 5G will launch soon. The phone will be the first Snapdragon 865 flagship with a waterfall display and will have support for 55W fast charging just like that of the iQOO 3 5G.

The device actually already appeared on TENAA back in January but was erroneously referred to as an orange variant of the NEX 3 5G.

The Vivo NEX 3S 5G (Vivo V1950A) will have a 6.89-inch 1080 x 2256 AMOLED display. The Snapdragon 865 processor will be paired with 8GB of RAM and be available in 128GB and 256GB variants.

There will be three cameras on the back of the phone – a 64MP primary sensor paired with a 13MP telephoto camera and a 13MP ultrawide angle camera. Just like the NEX 3, this also has a motorized pop-up selfie camera with a 16MP sensor.

TENAA says the phone has an in-display fingerprint scanner, runs Android 10, and packs a 4250mAh battery. It has support for SA and NSA 5G bands 41, 78, and 79.

The Vivo NEX 3S 5G will come in a single color which is stated as golden on the TENAA listing but which looks more like Sunset Red. The phone will weigh 219.5 grams and measure 167.44 x 76.14 x 9.4 millimeters.

There is no launch date yet but we expect it to arrive this month.
