Noted tipster Mukul Sharma Revealed on Twitter that Vivo has acquired multiple trademarks for their NEX lineup including — NEX Flex, NEX Flip, NEX Pocket, NEX Ultimate, NEX Ultra, NEX Max, and NEX Pro+.

vivo has big plans for its NEX lineup of smartphones.
Some of the names the brand has trademarked already:
NEX Flex
NEX Flip
NEX Pocket
NEX Ultimate
NEX Ultra
NEX Max
NEX Pro+#vivo #vivoNEX

— Mukul Sharma (@stufflistings) February 14, 2022

Trademarks like the NEX Ultimate, NEX Ultra, NEX Max, and NEX Pro+ are likely secured to be offered as monikers for the higher their versions of the NEX smartphones, however, the most eye-catching trademarks in the list are the NEX Flip, the NEX Flex and the NEX Pocket.

The NEX Flex might be the name for the upcoming NEX Fold which is rumored to be in development and is said to debut later this year. While the NEX Flip and the NEX Pocket can be the name of a flip smartphone that the brand might be working on behind closed doors.

Back in July 2021, Vivo applied for some similar trademarks including the “NEX Fold”, “Nex Slide”, and “NEX Roll.” Combined with the latest listing, we are sure to see some crazy innovative designs from the Chinese manufacturer if they decide to release the corresponding smartphones in the current market. But for now, the most certain upcoming device in the NEX lineup appears to be the Vivo Nex 5.

Vivo NEX 5 specifications (rumored)

The Vivo NEX 5 is likely to feature a curved-edge Samsung E5 AMOLED LPTO 2.0 display that offers a Quad HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The smartphone is likely to come with an IP68 rated chassis.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset will be present under the hood of the NEX 5. The NEX 3 is currently available only in China, but the trademark application hints at a global launch. While three monikers belong to the NEX series, the remaining names might be assigned to a different lineup.

Vivo NEX Pro, NEX Lite and NEX Neo

The new NEX monikers include the NEX Pro, NEX Lite and the NEX Neo. Vivo applied for the names on Sept.19. There is no word on what the company plans to do with these names at the moment. It might be part of Vivo’s attempt to safeguard the NEX moniker from copyright infringements in the future. There is no mention of the word ‘NEX 3’, so we cannot confirm whether the names are brand-specific. Vivo had previously trademarked the terms NEX V, NEX Z, NEX Y, NEX X and NEX Play.

Vivo iQOO Lite and VivoX Lineup

The remaining trademarked monikers this time are VivoX Pro, VivoX Lite and iQOO Lite.. In June, Vivo had announced the Snapdragon 845 powered iQOO Neo phone as a lighter version of the Vivo iQOO smartphone. Probably, the company may launch the Youth Edition globally as the iQOO Lite. This is a strange turn of events as Vivo currently limits the iQOO brand to China only.

All six trademarks are currently ‘under examination’ and it will be interesting to see what Vivo has in store for its global audience. As for the VivoX Lite and the VivoX Pro, the company does not sell any devices under the VivoX brand. This might be an entirely new lineup, or Vivo might sell smartphones from their present lineup in a brand new package globally under the VivoX moniker.
