The lineup consists of the Vivo X80 and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/04/25/vivo-x80-pro-launch-2-variant-50mp-camera-2k-display/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">the X80 Pro</a>. Out of the two, the vanilla X80 model comes with the latest Sony sensor for its primary camera and brings along the impressive <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/mediatek/">MediaTek</a> Dimensity 9000 SoC. So let&#8217;s take a detailed look at the specifications and features of this device.</p>
<h3>Design &amp; Display</h3>
<p>Design-wise, the X80 follows in the footsteps of its predictors featuring the classic &#8220;cloud step design&#8221; with some improvements. The device has a large rectangular camera island on the back, housing a triple camera setup in a circular module with the ZEISS branding.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-456701 " src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Vivo-X80.png?x96852" alt="Vivo X80" width="531" height="529" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Vivo-X80.png 749w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Vivo-X80-150x150.png 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Vivo-X80-300x300.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Vivo-X80-696x694.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Vivo-X80-421x420.png 421w" sizes="(max-width: 531px) 100vw, 531px" /></p>
<p>The device features curved edges and a flat back panel. The power button and volume rocker are housed on the right edge of the device.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-x80/">Vivo X80</a> is equipped with a curved 6.78 inch FHD+ 120Hz E5 AMOLED display on the front with a centered hole punch housing the selfie camera. The display panel is capable of 1500 nits of brightness and covers 100% of the P3 color gamut. The device has narrow bezels going around it which are only noticeable on the top and bottom.</p>
<h3>Specs</h3>
<p>The Vivo X80 houses the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 flagship SoC under its hood. The SoC comes paired with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The company has claimed that the device has an AnTuTu score of over one million points with the highest score achieved being a mind-blowing 1,049,081 points.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-456702 size-large" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Vivo-X80-specs-1024x550.png?x96852" alt="Vivo X80" width="1024" height="550" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Vivo-X80-specs-1024x550.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Vivo-X80-specs-300x161.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Vivo-X80-specs-768x412.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Vivo-X80-specs-696x374.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Vivo-X80-specs-1068x573.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Vivo-X80-specs-782x420.png 782w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Vivo-X80-specs.png 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>

The new chip has gone through several improvements including enhanced compatibility and picture optimization.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/vivo-V1-Plus.jpg?x96852"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-455888" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/vivo-V1-Plus.jpg?x96852" alt="Vivo V1+ chip" width="1024" height="567" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/vivo-V1-Plus.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/vivo-V1-Plus-300x166.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/vivo-V1-Plus-768x425.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/vivo-V1-Plus-696x385.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/vivo-V1-Plus-759x420.jpg 759w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></p>
<p>The Vivo X80 series is the next flagship offering by Vivo and the improved V1+ imaging chip offers more depth to the models. The V1+ is the successor to the V1 which was released last year. It supports MediaTek Dimensity 9000 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoCs. The collaboration with MediaTek has culminated in more than 30 related patents. The new V1+ image processor is first in several ways. It made Vivo the first OEM to produce its image processors compatible with high-end SoCs like the Dimensity 9000 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Dimensity-9000-with-V1-Plus-chip.jpg?x96852"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-455890" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Dimensity-9000-with-V1-Plus-chip.jpg?x96852" alt="vivo V1 Plus chip" width="1024" height="519" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Dimensity-9000-with-V1-Plus-chip.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Dimensity-9000-with-V1-Plus-chip-300x152.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Dimensity-9000-with-V1-Plus-chip-768x389.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Dimensity-9000-with-V1-Plus-chip-696x353.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Dimensity-9000-with-V1-Plus-chip-829x420.jpg 829w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></p>
<p>The V1+ chip is the culmination of a year-long collaboration between MediaTek and Vivo involving about 300 staff. The chip is also well-suited for high-quality and high-speed gaming applications. Vivo is also adding improvements in color, portrait, and shooting aspects by creating a new vivid and textured memory scheme. It uses AI technology to boost image quality remarkably.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Dimensity-9000-with-V1-Plus-chip.jpg?x96852"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-455890" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Dimensity-9000-with-V1-Plus-chip.jpg?x96852" alt="vivo V1 Plus chip" width="1024" height="519" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Dimensity-9000-with-V1-Plus-chip.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Dimensity-9000-with-V1-Plus-chip-300x152.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Dimensity-9000-with-V1-Plus-chip-768x389.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Dimensity-9000-with-V1-Plus-chip-696x353.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Dimensity-9000-with-V1-Plus-chip-829x420.jpg 829w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></p>
<p>Vivo is also implementing algorithms to optimize CPU resource allocation, reduce heat generation and boost the efficiency of the Dimensity 9000. This has led to significant improvement in the Dimensity 9000’s power consumption. This also has a rub-off effect on battery life, with up to 10% enhancements reported in tests. The overall impact on the X80 series could be far-reaching in the market.</p>
