Chinese smartphone maker vivo launched the vivo V20 in India in October 2020. Over five months after its release, the company has announced a price cut on this handset. Let’s take a look at how much this device now costs in the country.

The vivo V20 is the world’s first smartphone to launch with Android 11 (Funtouch OS 11) out of the box. It is sold in two storage configurations in India.

The base 6GB + 128GB variant of this handset debuted for ₹24,990. On the other hand, the higher 8GB + 128GB version was unveiled for ₹27,990. But now, both these models have received a ₹2,000 price cut.

Hence, interested customers can now buy it for either ₹22,990 (6GB + 128GB) or ₹25,990 (8GB + 128GB). Additionally, the company is also offering up to ₹2,000 cashback on HDFC Bank cards, Triple Zero Offer on Bajaj Finserv EMI, a 12-month extended warranty from Vi, and zero downpayment option from IDFC First Bank, Home Credit, HDB Financial Services, ICICI Bank, Zest Money, and TVS Credit.

Chinese phone maker vivo has debuted the vivo V20 smartphone in Kenya. The handset is priced at Ksh 45,999 ($420) for the single 8GB + 128GB storage configuration. Interested customers can pick it up in either Midnight Jazz (Black) or Sunset Melody (Blue-Purple Gradient) color option. The device can be purchased from any vivo branded shop or authorized retailer across the country.

The vivo V20 launched in Kenya is the same device that first made its debut in Thailand, followed by India. Hence, the handset’s specifications are identical. We are saying this because usually vivo and OPPO launch different phones with the same branding.

Anyway, coming back to the V20, the smartphone flaunts a 6.44-inch AMOLED display on the front with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels (FHD+), an in-screen fingerprint sensor, and a dew-drop notch at the top housing a 44MP selfie camera with support for eye autofocus.

Whereas, the rear panel of the handset resembles vivo X series device with its triangle-shaped camera alignment located at the top left side. This setup consists of a 64MP primary sensor, an 8MP secondary sensor for wide-angle, macro, and bokeh shots, and a 2MP tertiary monochrome sensor.

Further, the phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage, as mentioned in the beginning. On the connectivity front, it supports 4G, dual-band WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, GNSS (GPS, BeiDou, Galileo, GLONASS), and USB Type-C port.

Unfortunately, the smartphone does not come with a 3.5mm headphone jack but does feature a triple card slot for dual-nano SIM and microSD, accelerometer, ambient light sensor, compass, proximity sensor, gyroscope

Vivo recently unveiled the Vivo V20 in countries like India and other Southeast Asian markets. However, it could get a sibling soon as a device with V20 2021 moniker appears on certification platforms and now Geekbench.

As 91mobile reports, a Vivo smartphone carrying model number V2040 appears on Geekbench benchmarking platform. The device scores 553 and 1765 single and multi-core scores respectively. Interestingly, the motherboard of the device in testing is ‘sm6150’ and is an Octa-Core processor with 1.8GHz frequency.

For the unaware, the port number of Snapdragon 675 SoC is ‘sm6150’. This suggests that the device is equipped with a chipset that launched two years ago. Anyway, the device in testing also runs Android 11 and has 8GB of RAM. While the Geekbench listing doesn’t shed any light on What could the device be, Indonesia’s SDPPI reveals the moniker.

Accordingly, the model number V2040 on SDPPI(Indonesia Telecom Certification) reveals that the device is “Vivo V20 2021“. Also, it has already got India’s BIS certification hinting that the device is coming to more than one market.

That said, nothing else is known about the device yet. However, considering it has a similar name to the Vivo V20, we can expect a few similarities in design, if not specs. And looking at the two-year-old Snapdragon 675, we feel that the device might be a watered-down variant of the already-selling V20.

The Vivo V20, which was the first device to get Android 11 pre-installed, came with a very slim body, triple cameras, and a display with water-drop notch. Hence, we can expect Vivo to retain it on the V20 2021. Additionally, the Android 11 listing suggests that the device might debut with Vivo’s recently launched OriginOS.

And since we are already at the end of 2020, Vivo should bring it somewhere in Q1 of next year. In any case, we are sure to get more leaks as the launch gets closer.

When it comes to the mid-range segment, one of the most popular devices in the Asian market is the OPPO F17 Pro. There are several reasons for its success and they include the fact that it is one of the thinnest and lightweight devices of the year. Given the huge success it had, we decided to compare the F17 Pro to its main competitor from BBK Electronics in the same price segment. For this comparison, we chose the Vivo V20 and the Realme 7 because they offer very interesting specifications at a similar price.

Design

As mentioned above, the OPPO F17 Pro is one of the thinnest and most lightweight devices of the year. But there is another device with similar specifications which is as thin as the OPPO F17 Pro and it even has a similar weight: the Vivo V20. At first glance, the F17 Pro may look slightly more attractive thanks to its punch-hole display and great color variants, but the Vivo V20 has better materials, including a glass back. With polycarbonate, you get more resistance, but a glass back is definitely more elegant. The Realme 7 is thick and heavier, so it loses the design comparison. Further, it has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, while on the Vivo V20 and the F17 Pro, you get an in-display fingerprint reader.

Display

The OPPO F17 Pro and the Vivo V20 offer superior displays if compared to the Realme 7. We are talking about AMOLED panels, and not a simple IPS display. The OPPO F17 Pro has the best panel, offering a higher brightness and Super AMOLED technology. But the Vivo V20 remains a great handset in terms of the display if we consider its affordable price. The Realme 7 lacks an AMOLED display, but it has a 90 Hz refresh rate. As mentioned above, the F17 Pro and Vivo V20 sport an in-display biometric sensor for more comfortable authentication.

Hardware/Software

The Vivo V20 provides the best hardware department. It is fueled by the Snapdragon 720G mobile platform built at 8 nm and paired with 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage. We give the silver medal to the Realme 7 packing a Mediatek Helio G95 processor and 8 GB of RAM. OPPO F17 Pro is weaker with its Helio P95 and 8 GB RAM. The max amount of native storage you can get with Realme 7 and OPPO F17 Pro is 128 GB. Realme 7 and OPPO F17 Pro run Android 10 out of the box, while Vivo V20 is based on Android 11.

Camera

Despite it comes with a lower amount of sensors, the Vivo V20 has the best main camera on the rear side, with a 64 MP resolution. Further, it has a better selfie camera with an awesome 44 MP resolution. The Vivo V20 wins the camera phone comparison. OPPO F17 Pro comes right after with the same 48 MP quad camera as the Realme 7, but it has a better front camera department including a dual 16 + 2 MP front camera. If we only consider the rear side, with Realme 7 and the OPPO F17 Pro you get exactly the same camera specifications, so the shots should not be so different. Even the software is similar, so whatever you choose, you get a decent and similar camera quality.

Battery

The battery life champion of this trio is the Realme 7 simply because it packs a bigger battery. Its components are less efficient compared to the Vivo V20, but it still lasts more because it packs a big 5000 mAh battery. You get only 4000 mAh with the Vivo V20 and the OPPO F17 Pro, but you can charge the Vivo V20 faster thanks to the 33W fast charging technology.

Price

Realme 7 is priced at Rs. 14,999 ($200) in India in its base configuration with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of native storage, OPPO F17 Pro has a listing price of Rs. 25,990 ($352) in the configuration with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage and Vivo V20 costs Rs. 24,990 ($338) in the same memory configuration. If you are looking for the longest battery life, then Realme 7 is a better phone for you. But the OPPO F17 Pro and the Vivo V20 offer an AMOLED display! Vivo V20 has a better hardware department and better cameras than OPPO F17 Pro. Further, it offers Android 11 out of the box. Despite the huge popularity of the OPPO F17 Pro, my personal choice would be Vivo V20 because its value for money is slightly higher and it has slightly better specifications. I would not choose the Realme 7 due to its IPS display, but it can let you save a lot of money.

Vivo launched the Vivo V20 Pro 5G in India a few days back. The device is priced at ₹29,990($407). If you recall, Vivo announced that the non-Pro Vivo V20 will be the first device to have Android 11 pre-installed. Hence, one would naturally think that the Pro version should have it too. However, it launched with Android 10 and now is getting the Android 11 via an OTA update.

As reported by GSMArena, Vivo V20 Pro 5G is getting the Android 11 OTA update weighing 3.6GB in India. Titled Vivo rev 6.70.8, the build number is PD2020F_EX_A_6.70.8 and bundles November 1, 2020 security patch. Considering it’s an OS upgrade, you can expect the latest Android 11’s features on the new UI. Anyway, you can take a look at the entire changelog below:

• Added Notification History so users can view previously received notifications.
• The newly added Priority chat function will pin corresponding notifications at the top of the notification bar.
• Chat bubble functions for chat with an enable/disable option.

That said, the update is Over-The-Air(OTA) and hence, it should take a few days to reach everyone. Besides, the update seems to be rolling out in India and there is no info on other countries. Interestingly enough, the report mentions that the ROM changes from Funtouch OS 11 to vos OS_2.0 after the update. It could be a mistake and we will have to wait for Vivo’s clarification here as the Vivo V20 has Funtouch OS 11 instead of this.

Also, to correct our error, we had reported in our launch article that Vivo V20 Pro 5G comes with Android 11 pre-installed. However, unlike the Vivo V20, it actually comes with Funtouch OS 11 based on Android 10 out of the box. And as mentioned on the official website, the company is now rolling out the Android 11 update to the device.

A couple of weeks back, Vivo India CEO revealed that Vivo V20 Pro 5G will launch in November in the country. However, a new report by 91Mobiles now provides information on the new launch date and pricing for the device.

Vivo V20 Pro 5G new Launch Date, Price

Quoting its Industry sources, 91Mobiles’ exclusive report says that Vivo V20 Pro 5G will skip the November launch date. Instead, it will debut in December in the country. Further, the report says that the smartphone will be priced below ₹30,000($405). This is quite low compared to the THB 14,999($488) price in Thailand.

To compare, its sibling Vivo V20 and V20 SE are already priced at ₹24,990($337), and ₹20,990($283) respectively in India. Accordingly, the report also quotes its sources saying that Vivo V20 Pro 5G will be priced similar to the high-end variant of the OnePlus Nord 5G. This suggests that the device could retail for ₹29,999($404) in India. Still, let’s wait for Vivo to confirm it officially.

Vivo V20 Pro 5G Specifications

Vivo V20 Pro 5G features a 6.44-inch AMOLED display with a FHD+ resolution. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G 5G SoC and paired with 8GB RAM, 128GB storage.  For camera, it has a dual-selfie setup at the front with 44MP main, and 8MP ultra-wide sensors.

At the back, we get a 64MP f/1.8 Samsung ISOCELL GW1, 8MP multi-functional sensor(macro,depth,ultra-wide), and a 2MP monochrome sensor. Today, the Chinese firm held a dedicated launch event in India to announce the Vivo V20 smartphone. Like the predecessor V-series phones, the V20 offers top-notch photography experience as it is equipped with a 44-megapixel front-facing camera and a 64-megapixel triple camera system.

Vivo V20 specifications and features

The Vivo V20 sports a glass rear and it measures 161.3 x 74.2 x 7.38mm. The device weighs 171 grams, and it houses a 6.44-inch S-AMOLED display with a waterdrop notch. The 20:9 aspect ratio supporting full HD+ display is integrated with a fingerprint sensor. The predecessor Vivo V19 had the same-sized display, but it featured a dual punch-hole cut for its 32-megapixel + 8-megapixel dual selfie camera system. When the Vivo V20 Pro was announced in Thailand a little over a week ago, the Vivo V20 also tagged along. However, Vivo only revealed a few details, with the promise that the full spec sheet, pricing, and availability details will be revealed later. The full spec sheet is now live on the global site. We have also gotten info on the price tag of the device.

Vivo V20 design and specs

The Vivo V20 has a 6.44-inch 2400 x 1080 FHD+ AMOLED display just as the Pro model but it adopts the smaller-sized waterdrop notch. On the back, both phones are practically identical and they come in the same colorways.

Under the hood is a Snapdragon 720G processor which means there is no 5G support. If you want 5G, the Snapdragon 765G-powered V20 Pro is the one you should go for. The processor inside the V20 is paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. A dedicated MicroSD card slot is available so users can add more storage.

With respect to cameras, there is a 44MP f/2.0 AF camera in front for selfies and it has features such as Eye Autofocus, slow-mo selfie mode, Super Night Selfie mode, and 4K video recording. On the back is a 64MP f/1.89 main camera and it comes along with an 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide angle camera that also does portrait and macro photography, and a 2MP f/2.4 mono camera. The rear cameras also have a handful of features and modes including a tripod night Mode, Ultra Stable Video mode, Super Macro, Style Portrait.

Other features of the phone include Dual-SIM support, Bluetooth 5.1, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and a USB-C port. The phone has a 4000mAh battery with support for 33W (11V 3A) fast charging. The Vivo V20 also runs Android 11 out of the box with Funtouch OS 11 on top.

The spec sheet says the phone measures 161.30 x 74.20 x 7.38 millimeters and weighs 171 grams. However, the Sunset Melody colorway is 1 millimeter thicker and 1 gram heavier.

Google announced the Android 11 OS earlier this month and it was made available to Pixel devices on Sept. 8. Smartphone OEMs like OnePlus, Realme, OPPO, and Xiaomi have released beta versions of Android 11 OS for some of their smartphones. The Google Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5v that are scheduled to go office later were believed to come with preinstalled with Android 11 OS. However, a few hours before the announcement, Vivo has confirmed through a press release that the Vivo V20 is the first smartphone that comes with preinstalled.

The PR states that the newly unveiled V20 lineup will run on Android OS, which indicates that the Vivo V20, Vivo V20 Pro, and Vivo V20 SE are all equipped with the latest Android OS. However, the official product pages of the three phones show that the Vivo V20 Pro and Vivo V20 SE are still running on FunTouch OS 11 based Android 10 OS and the Vivo V20 has Android 11 with FunTouch OS 11 overlaid on it. The PR further states that Vivo plans to provide the V20 series with Android 11 in succession, which indicates that the V20 SE and V20 Pro could be soon treated with the Android 11 update.

According to XDA Developers, the Vivo V20 that has a model number of V2025 is the Device Catalog of the Google Play Console. The listing states that its SDK version is 30, which indicates its loaded with Android 11 OS. Moreover, an unboxing video by an Indonesian YouTuber also confirmed that the device is running on Android 11 OS. Considering that the phone will receive two OS upgrades, it appears that the Vivo V20 will be treated with Android 12 and Android 13 OS updates in the future.

Meanwhile, Vivo India is teasing the arrival of the Vivo V20 series in India. A recent leak revealed that the company will make it official on Oct. 12. It is unclear whether the company will be announcing not three, but two V20 models.

The Vivo V20 series will be sold through Flipkart in India. A recent teaser released by the company reveals that the V20 devices will be priced between Rs 20,000 and Rs 30,000 in the country.

Reportedly, the Vivo V20 series will go on sale in the country through Flipkart as its online partner. Furthermore, we can likely expect it to be sold via Vivo’s official online stores as well. Unfortunately, apart from this leak, additional information regarding its launch is currently unavailable right now.

At the moment, only educated guesses can be made regarding the upcoming series, however, it is officially confirmed that the smartphone will sport a 65 megapixel triple camera setup on the rear, a 44 megapixel selfie shooter, and pack a 4,000mAh battery that will likely support fast charging as well. Vivo has unveiled new phones for its V-series. The new Vivo V20 and Vivo V20 Pro 5G were announced in Thailand on Monday and they pack high megapixel cameras, fast charging, and Snapdragon processors.

Vivo V20 Pro 5G

While most manufacturers have moved past the notch, Vivo doesn’t seem to be done yet. The phone has a tub-shaped notch in the upper part of the display. The reason for the wide cut-out is so that two cameras can be housed there.

For the rear, Vivo has adopted a design similar to that of the X50 series. There is a distinct rectangular camera housing that has three sensors inside it while the LED flash sits inside the metal frame around the housing. The phone is available in three colorways – Sunset Melody (gradient), Midnight Jazz (black), and Moonlight Sonata (white) – all with scratch-resistant matte glass.

Moving away from the design, the Vivo V20 Pro 5G has a 6.44-inch FHD+ AMOLED display. It is a standard panel with a 60Hz refresh rate. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G chipset is on board along with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

The main selfie camera is a 44MP f/2.0 sensor with autofocus and it is paired with an 8MP f/2.28 superwide angle camera with a 105° field of view. The main sensor has a feature called Eye Autofocus which focuses on your eyes even if you are not looking at the camera. There is also a low-light mode so you can take bright selfies at night; support for 4K video recording; dual-view video; and slow-mo selfies.

The rear setup has a 64MP f/1.89 main camera, a 120° 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide angle camera, and a 2MP f/2.4 mono camera. There are several modes and features available including tripod night mode, macro mode, super night mode, 3D soundtracking, double exposure, and portrait video.

The Vivo V20 Pro 5G has dual-SIM support, dual-band Wi-Fi, stereo speakers, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. There is a 4000mAh battery under the hood with support for 33W fast charging via USB-C. The phone ships with FunTouch OS based on Android 10.

The phone is priced at THB 14,999 (~$479) and is available for purchase on JD.com. All orders will ship with a free Vivo Bluetooth speaker.

Vivo V20

Vivo mentioned only a few details of the V20. It has a waterdrop notch which is home to a single 44MP camera. There is a Snapdragon 720G processor powering it with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It also has a 64MP triple camera setup on the rear, a 4000mAh battery, support for 33W fast charging, and weighs 173 grams with a thickness of 7.38 millimeters.

Other details including its price will be announced later.

Vivo will be launching the Vivo V20 series in Thailand on Sept. 21. Recent reports have already spilled the specs of the Vivo V20 and Vivo V20 SE smartphones. Also, it is speculated that the Vivo V20 Pro is a rebranded version of the Vivo S7 5G phone that debuted in China a few months back. Ahead of the launch, Playfuldroid has shared the official renders of the Vivo V20 and Vivo V20 SE smartphones.

The Vivo V20 and V20 SE renders show that they are equipped with waterdrop notch displays. The gradient rears of both smartphones seem to be made from glass. The Vivo V20 will be available in colors like Starry Black and Gradient Blue whereas the SE phone will come in Oxygen Blue and Gravity Black colors.

The Vivo V20 SE has a vertical camera system that houses three cameras. On the other side, the Vivo V20 has a triple camera system on its back. The arrangement of the rear cameras of the Vivo V20 is like the Vivo X50 series.

The Vivo V20 has a 6.44-inch S-AMOLED display that delivers Full HD+ resolution and an aspect ratio of 20:9. The Vivo V20 SE has the same display. Both phones promise a screen-to-body ratio of 90.12 percent. The FunTouchOS 11 based Android 10 comes preinstalled on the smartphone. These phones are equipped with in-screen fingerprint scanners.

The Vivo V20 has a 44-megapixel front-facing camera with autofocus support whereas the Vivo V20 SE has a 32-megapixel selfie camera. The Vivo V20 has a 64-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel triple camera system. On the other side, the Vivo V20 SE has a 48-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel triple camera setup.

The Vivo V20 has a Snapdragon 720G chipset and a 4,000mAh battery. The V20 SE has a Snapdragon 665 SoC and a 4,100mAh battery. Both phones have 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of built-in storage, 33W Flash Charge 2.0 technology, and NFC support.

Vivo Thailand released a teaser of the Vivo V20 Pro, which revealed that it could be a rebadged edition of the Vivo S7 5G that debuted in China. Also, a tipster has shared two screengrabs that have revealed the key specifications of the Vivo V20 and 20 SE smartphones.

Vivo V20 SE and Vivo V20 specifications  

The Vivo V20 SE and Vivo V20 are equipped with a 6.44-inch S-AMOLED display with a waterdrop notch. The screen supports full HD+ resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio, and an in-display fingerprint sensor. Both phones offer a 90.12 percent screen-to-body ratio. These devices are preinstalled with FunTouchOS 11 based Android 10 OS. Interestingly, the Vivo V20 heading to India seems to have a dual punch-hole cutout for two front-facing cameras. This indicates that the Vivo V20 heading to India could be a slightly different phone compared to the ones arriving in markets like Thailand and Indonesia.

The Vivo S7 5G comes with a 6.44-inch S-AMOLED FHD+ display with a wide notch for a 44-megapixel + 8-megapixel (depth) dual selfie camera system. Its other specs include Snapdragon 765G, 4,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging, 64-megapixel + 8-megapixel (ultrawide) + 2-megapixel (depth) triple camera system, and in-screen fingerprint sensor.

Chinese smartphone maker vivo has been going head to head with Samsung in India for the past few quarters. Both companies have been launching new devices every now and then. Most of the offerings from Samsung are either budget or premium. On the other hand, vivo’s devices are mostly mid-range. Now, a new mid-range handset called vivo v20 leaks in renders suggesting an imminent launch.

Yesterday, 91Mobiles reported that vivo will be launching vivo V20 series in India in October. The series will consist of three devices namely vivo V20, vivo V20 Pro, and vivo V20 SE. Today, MySmartPrice shares the renders of the vanilla vivo V20.

As per the renders, the upcoming vivo V20 will feature a similar rear design as the vivo X50 Pro. But instead of quad-camera, it will come with a triple camera setup without the periscope unit.

The renders showcase the phone in two colors –  gray and gradient. An advertisement poster also reveals one of the two cameras on the front to be of 44 megapixels. The details about the other cameras and internals of this handset is a mystery.

An upcoming Vivo phone with model number V2022A model number has received approval from a couple of certification platforms like Indonesia’s TKDN, Singapore’s IMDA, Thailand’s NBTC, and China’s CQC. The NBTC certification confirmed that the V2022 model number belongs to the upcoming Vivo V20 SE smartphone. Now, the Vivo V20 SE has appeared on the Geekbench benchmarking platform to reveal some of its key specs.

The Vivo V20 SE has appeared on Geekbench 5 with 8 GB of RAM and an octa-core Qualcomm chipset that has 1.80GHz base frequency. The name of the processor is not mentioned in the Geekbench listing, but the ‘trinket’ codename is a giveaway that it is fueled by the Snapdragon 665 mobile platform.

In the single-core test of Geekbench 5, the Vivo V20 SE scored 316 points and it recorded a score of 1377 in the multi-core test. The China Quality Certification (CQC) certification of the device has revealed that it carries support for 33W fast charging.

The other specs of the Vivo V20 SE are under wraps. The NBTC authority had also certified by another Vivo phone with V2018 model number. It revealed that the device will be launching in the market as Vivo V20 Pro. The rumor mill is yet to spill any information on the specs of the V20 Pro phone.

The Vivo V20 series will be replacing the Vivo V19 smartphone that debuted in April this year. The Vivo V19 came with a 6.44-inch S-AMOLED display with dual punch-hole cutout for its 32-megapixel + 8-megapixel dual selfie camera system. The rear shell of the phone sported a 48-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-mgeapixel + 2-megapixel quad camera system. It came preinstalled with Android 10 OS and FunTouch OS 10. The Snapdragon 712 chipset fueled the phone with 8 GB of RAM. It came in 128 GB and 256 GB storage editions. Its 4,500mAh battery carried support for 33W fast charging.
