Vivo has today announced a price cut of up to Rs. 4,000 for three smartphones in India — Vivo V9, Vivo Y83, and Vivo X21. With the price cut, the Vivo V9 is now available for Rs. 18,990 (approximately $271) while the Vivo Y83 now costs Rs. 13,990 ($200). The Vivo X21 is now retailing in India for Rs. 31,990 which roughly converts to $457.

The Vivo V9 was launched in India earlier this year for Rs. 22,990. However, it received a price cut in June, bringing down the phone’s price to Rs. 20,990. The phone is available in three color options — Champagne Gold, Pearl Black, and Sapphire Blue.

It boasts a 6.3-inch Full-HD+ IPS FullView Display with 19:9 screen aspect ratio and a 90 percent screen-to-body ratio. The device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor and packs 4GB RAM, 64GB storage. It features a dual rear camera setup with 16MP + 5MP sensors and a 24MP front-facing camera. The Vivo V9 Youth which was launched in India sometime in April has just gotten its second price drop in two consecutive months. The device which is actually the budget model of the Vivo V9 was announced with a starting price of 18,990 (~$276). The device then received its first Rs. 1000 price cut in June, a month after its launch in India. The device as of today just got another Rs. 1,000 price cut, bringing the final price down to Rs. 16,990 (~$247).

For those not fully acquainted with the device, the Vivo V9 Youth features a 6.3-inch notched display that supports Full HD+ resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels. The Full View 2.0 display offers an aspect ratio of 18:9. The device is powered by a Snapdragon 450 SoC that includes a 1.8 GHz octa-core processor. The company had used the same SoC to power the discontinued Vivo V7+ smartphone from last year. The chipset is paired with 4 GB of RAM and it comes with a native storage of 32 GB. For additional storage, users can make use of a microSD card on this phone. Keeping the lights on is a modest 3,260mAh battery. The phone gets its interface from the Android 8.1 Oreo-based FunTouch OS 4.0.

Earlier this year, in March, Vivo launched Vivo V9 smartphone featuring 4GB RAM. Now, the company has launched a 6GB RAM variant of the Vivo V9 in Indonesia. The smartphone is priced at IDR 4,299,000 in Indonesia, which roughly converts to $301.

The smartphone will be available in two color options — Black and Red. It is currently available for pre-order which will run through July 5. However, there is no information on whether it will be arriving in other markets where the Vivo V9 is already available.

While the design of the smartphone is similar to the standard Vivo V9, this upgraded model comes with major changes in terms of specifications. It still boasts a 6.3-inch Full-HD+ IPS FullView Display with 19:9 screen aspect ratio and a 90 percent screen-to-body ratio.

Under the hood, the device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, while the standard edition was powered by Snapdragon 626 SoC. The processor is coupled with 6GB RAM of RAM, which has been bumped up from 4GB in the standard variant.

While the processor and RAM received an upgrade, the camera has been downgraded. This newer model comes with a 13MP + 2MP dual rear cameras and a 12MP front-facing snapper while the original model features a dual rear camera setup with 16MP + 5MP sensors and a 24MP front-facing camera. It supports AI-based Face Beautify app for the selfie and video call beautification, and also ‘AR Stickers’, apart from a ‘Portrait’ lighting effect and Bokeh depth-of-field effect.

Chinese smartphone maker Vivo has been pretty busy in the market lately with a couple of new releases, some of which were done unannounced. The company recently unveiled the Snapdragon 660-powered premium midranger- Vivo Z1 and while we were still savouring the beauty, the Vivo Y83 was launched quietly with a new Helio P22 chipset, the first device to feature such. Vivo seems to be on a drive to consolidate its grip on the mid-range market with the impending release of three more models. The models have just been certified by TENAA in China.

The models are identified with the model numbers Vivo V1732A, V1732T and V1801A0. The Vivo V1801A0 looks like a higher model than the other two. It comes with a dual rear camera setup and is believed to be the upcoming Vivo V9.  The device is listed with a 6.26-inch TFT display with a resolution of 2280 x 1080p. It is powered by an unnamed processor with its CPU clocked at 2.2GHz. The device also packs a 3180mAh battery under its hood and will be available in Champagne Gold, Rose Gold, and Matte Black colours.

On the other hand, the Vivo V1732A and V1732T models have the same specs lineup and design which means they are likely the same device but perhaps different variants. The models could be variants of another Y-series model, likely the Y81. The listing reveals the presence of a processor with CPU clocked at 2GHz which is likely the Helio P60 chip. The RAM is 3 GB, while the internal storage is 64 GB. There is only one camera on the back that is 8 MP (but reaches 13 MP with software enhancements), while the selfie cam is 5 MP. The models do not have fingerprint scanners but pack a 6.22-inch display apiece. Both models are also listed to pack a battery capacity of 3,180 mAh.

Earlier this year, in March, Vivo launched its Vivo V9 smartphone in the Indian market. Now, the company has launched the Sapphire Blue color variant of the Vivo V9 in India. The phone is priced at Rs. 22,990 same as the other color variants.

The Vivo V9 Sapphire Blue will be available across online and offline retail stores. It will be available from offline stores from 18th May, i.e. today and if you prefer to purchase it online, you can order it from Amazon India as Vivo E-Store from 21st May. The smartphone was already available in Champagne Gold and Pearl Black color.

The Vivo V9 Sapphire Blue edition features a 6.3-inch Full-HD+ IPS LCD FullView Display 2.0. The screen has a notch above the display and support screen resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels and comes with an aspect ratio of 19:9.

The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 626 processor along with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There’s a microSD card slot, allowing users to further expand phone’s storage capacity up to 128GB.

It sports a dual rear camera setup, with the primary 16-megapixel sensor and a secondary 5-megapixel sensor coupled with f/2.0 and f2/.4 apertures, respectively. On the front side, there sits a 24-megapixel camera sensor with an f/2.0 aperture. Vivo is touting AI-based Face Beautify app for taking selfies and video call beautification, and also ‘AR Stickers’, apart from a ‘Portrait’ lighting effect and Bokeh depth-of-field effect.

In the previous month, Vivo had launched the Vivo V9 smartphone with iPhone X-like notched design, Android Oreo and Snapdragon 626 SoC.  Mahesh Telecom, a smartphone retailer from Mumbai, India has confirmed that the Chinese manufacturer has already launched a new phone called Vivo V9 Youth smartphone in India. It borrows its design from the Vivo V9 phone and since it is packed with toned-down specs compared to the V9, it comes with a comparatively lower price tag.

The Vivo V9 features a 6.3-inch notched display that supports Full HD+ resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels. The Full View 2.0 display offers an aspect ratio of 18:9. It is fueled by Snapdragon 450 that includes a 1.8 GHz octa-core processor. The company had used the same SoC to power the discontinued Vivo V7+ smartphone from last year.

The SoC is accompanied by 4 GB of RAM and it comes with a native storage of 32 GB. For additional storage, users can make use of a microSD card on this phone. The handset receives power from 3,260mAh battery. It is pre-installed with Android 8.1 Oreo that is overlaid with the latest FunTouch OS 4.0 skin from Vivo.

The frontside of the Vivo V9 Youth features a 16-megapixel selfie camera whereas the backside is fitted with 16-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual camera setup. The camera lacks support for 4K video shooting, but comes with features like AI Beauty, Bokeh mode and AR stickers The rear panel of the phone is fitted with a fingerprint reader.

A previous report had revealed that the handset measures 154.81 x 75.03 x 7.89 and weighs 150 grams. The screen is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 3.

If you live in China and you are looking for a phone with the best quality-price ratio, OPPO F7 and Vivo V9 are among the best choices you have. They are two mid-rangers released by sister companies as both are owned by BBK Electronics. And they are also very similar devices. Vivo V9 boasts of an octa-core Snapdragon 626 chipset by Qualcomm, 4 GB of RAM, and 64 GB of internal storage, while its display has a size of 6.3 inches and a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels. Both the device feature an iPhone X-like notch. Oppo F7 has also been compared with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro on benchmarks and it was even able to compete with this handset which has a more powerful Snapdragon 636 SoC. After launching Vivo V9 smartphone in India last week, the company put the phone up for sale in India today for the first time through its offline stores. Now, the phone will go on sale in India from 5th April through online as well as offline stores.

Earlier, the company had said that the Vivo V9 will be available for purchase online as well as offline. However, that was not the case as the phone was available through offline stores only, for a price of Rs. 22,900. The phone is still available for pre-orders through online retailers in India.

The Vivo V9 comes with a massive 6.3-inch IPS LCD FullView 2.0 display with 1.75mm slim bezels, 2280 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. There’s a layer of 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass on top for protection from minor scratches.

Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 processor that is clocked at 2.2GHz. The processor is coupled with 4GB of RAM and packs 64GB of internal storage. There’s also a memory card slot that supports up to 256GB of microSD card.

The device bears a dual rear camera setup at the back, consisting of a 16-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor coupled with f/2.0 and f/2.4 apertures, respectively and offers an ‘Ultra HDR’ mode. These days, the mid-range smartphones sector can be divided in two categories: midrangers and the upper midrangers. The former are devices which are mostly focused on affordability (an example is the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus), while the latter section usually feature handsets which boast some high-end features but they are not real flagships and they cost a bit more than normal midrangers (e.g. Oppo R15 and Vivo X21).

The new Vivo V9 and Meizu E3 are two devices which I would place exactly in the middle of these two categories, so they have an incredible quality-price ratio. But which of these device are worth buying in 2018? This is a Vivo V9 vs Meizu E3 comparison that will help you to decide.

Vivo V9 vs Meizu E3

Among these devices, Vivo V9 is definitely the one with the best design, but I’m sure some may prefer the E3 over V9. Both have a full metal unibody design, but Vivo V9 has a tri-bezel-less front panel with an incredibly high screen-to-body ratio (85.2 percent) and an iPhone X-like notch. Meizu E3 is a classic 18:9 device, but its display should offer a better viewing quality thanks to its LTPS LCD technology and up to 85 percent NTSC color gamut.

Meizu E3 also has better hardware components: under the hood, it sports an octa-core Snapdragon 636 SoC which is newer, paired with 6 GB of RAM, so it is way more powerful than Vivo V9 and its Snapdragon 626 + 4 GB RAM configuration. When it comes to the camera department, Vivo V9 wins. Even though its 16 + 5 MP rear dual camera may not be at the same level as the 12 MP dual camera of the Meizu E3 with 2.5x lossless zoom, the 24 MP selfie camera makes the V9 a camera phone which is a lot more interesting than its opponent.

It also supports AI which can recognize the age, sex, skin tone, and lighting conditions when the user is about to shoot a selfie. Given that there are still no camera samples of these handsets, we still cannot tell you which one is better when it comes to rear cameras. The batteries of these phones have similar capacities and, given that both the chipsets are really power-efficient, we guess that the (long!) battery lives on a single charge will be similar as well. But Meizu E3 features an advanced fast charging technology called mCharge 3.0 which makes the battery reach 53% of charge in just 30 minutes.

Meizu E3 has been launched in China with a price tag of about $285/€231, while Vivo V9’s price in India is Rs. 22,990 (~$354). While Vivo V9 is a more interesting phone for photos and aesthetics, Meizu E3 looks a better handset for rest of the features. If not for the limited availability, the E3 would have made for a great buy at just $285 as compared to the V9.

The rear side of the Vivo V9 includes 16-megapixel + 5-megapixel (depths sensor) dual rear cameras. It can shoot beautiful bokeh shots. The Shot Refocus feature allow users to focus on the already captured images. The Ultra HDR mode that can capture three images at the same time and they are superimposed with each other to capture images with better lighting in foreground and background.

Face Access 2.0 can not only recognize and unlock the phone by using the front-facing camera but also it can open security locked apps like gallery and messaging apps and so on. Also, when a user raises the Vivo V9 while viewing an incoming call, it can smartly lower its ring tone volume. The handset is loaded with FunTouch OS 4.0 flavored Android 8.1 Oreo. For the second time this week, Vivo is announcing a new phone. On Monday, it announced the Vivo X21 flagship and today it has unveiled the slightly less powerful Vivo V9.

The Vivo V9 shares a number of features with the more expensive X21 in terms of design. It has a notched display though a tiny bit bigger. It also has dual rear cameras arranged vertically. However, it skips the glass back for metal.

Vivo V9 Specs

The Vivo V9 has a 6.3” FHD+ display but it is not OLED like the X21. There is a notch at the top that houses a 24MP selfie camera, the earpiece and sensors.

Vivo knows you are tired of the Snapdragon 625 processor so it swaps it for a……….Snapdragon 626. The difference is the SD626 has a higher clock speed (2.2GHz) and comes with TruSignal® Antenna Boost.

There is 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage which is expandable via a MicroSD card slot. A 3260mAh battery powers it and can be recharged via a Micro-USB port.

The highlight of the Vivo V9 is its 24MP f/2.0 selfie camera. Bundled with AI Face Beauty that can guess your age, sex, skin tone, and lighting condition when you want to take a selfie. A combination of AI algorithms and features like Natural Light, Studio Light, and Monochrome background helps you take better pictures.

Vivo has also added face unlock, though it calls it AI Face Access for unlocking the phone if you don’t want to use the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. A 16MP + 5MP dual combo sits on the rear of the device.

The Vivo V9 runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.

Vivo V9 Price and Availability

The Vivo V9 doesn’t have a price tag yet. It will be available in the Philippines today, India tomorrow, and should make it to other countries where the V-series is sold, such as Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia, and Vietnam. It will come in Gold and Black.

Vivo is scheduled to launch its flagship smartphone — Vivo V9 in India on 23rd March. However, ahead of the official announcement, the phone has been listed on Amazon India.

The listing suggests that the phone will be Amazon-exclusive in India. Further, the listing also mentions that it will be available for pre-bookings from 23rd March itself starting at 3:00 PM along with a few “special offers.”

The phone’s landing page on Amazon India mentions the tagline as “Perfect Shot, Perfect View”, suggesting that the company is focusing on the improvements in the phone’s camera department.

The listing of Vivo V9 on Amazon India has also revealed some key features and specifications of the phone. It is expected to come with Apple iPhone X-like design, featuring a notch at the top of the display. The full-screen Full-HD+ display on the phone is said to be of 6-inch and aspect ratio of 19:9.

Under the hood, the device will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 processor along with 4GB RAM. It is expected to pack 64GB internal storage and carry microSD card support for expanding storage up to 256GB.

Coming to the camera, the phone will be having a dual camera setup at the back, featuring 16-megapixel primary lens and a 5-megapixel secondary lens with 4K video support and AI Face Beauty feature among others. On the front, it is likely to sport a 24-megapixel snapper for selfies and video calling.

On the software front, we are expecting the phone to run on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out-of-the-box with the company’s own FunTouch OS custom interface on top. The phone is likely to be fuelled by a 3,250mAh battery.

A new wonderful notched handset by the BBK-owned hi-tech giant is going to be showcased on March 22 in China. Aesthetically, the V9 will be very similar to the X21.

According to an official image, it will have a tri-bezel-less display. The specifications of Vivo V9 have already been confirmed on the official site of the company, so we know almost everything about it. Under the hood, it will sport an octa-core Snapdragon 626 chipset by Qualcomm, supported by 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage expandable with a micro SD up to 256 GB. The upcoming Vivo V9 will be announced first in Thailand on March 22. A previous report had claimed that Vivo India would be launching the Vivo V9 smartphone on March 27, but the Indian wing of Vivo confirmed yesterday that the handset will be landing in India on March 23. Fresh information suggests that the Chinese manufacturer has reportedly rescheduled the launch of V9 for India to align it with its Thailand launch. In the previous month, the Chinese manufacturer had launched its own online store in India. The forthcoming V9 is now listed on Vivo India’s online store with its entire specifications and images.

The Vivo V9 is listed with an interesting pricing of Rs. 1 crore (10 million). It is just a placeholder as recent leaks have claimed that it could be priced around Rs. 25,000 (~$385) in India. According to Vivo V9’s official listing, the handset will be arriving in colors like Pearl Black and Gold. It measures 154.81 x 75.03 x 7.89 mm and weighs 150 grams.

The Vivo V9 features a massive display 6.3 inches that support FHD+ resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels. It will be offering an aspect ratio of 19:9. The Vivo V9 is one of two Vivo smartphones scheduled to launch this month. Like the Vivo X21, the V9 also has a notch in its display and vertically arranged dual rear cameras. Live photos of the phone were posted online a few days ago and more have been leaked again today.

The new photos were posted on Twitter and are from someone who got his/her hands on a retail unit ahead of release judging from the retail box in one of the images.

The Vivo V9 comes in a white box which has an image of the phone’s front on it. It also has the World Cup Russia 2018 logo and a text that says “official smartphone”. This is a confirmation that Vivo will be one of the sponsors of the tournament.

There is also a tag line that reads “Perfect Shot, Perfect View” which hints at the phone’s selling points – its camera features and its 19:9 aspect ratio full-screen display.

Unlike the images that leaked a few days ago which shows the gold variant, this new leak is of the black version. You can’t see the notch when the display is off but in the other two photos, it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Sitting within the notch is a confirmed 24MP front facing camera, the earpiece and the sensor. There is a a bit of chin on the Vivo V9, unlike the iPhone X which it takes its design from.

Full specs of the phone have also leaked though they are unconfirmed and should be taken with a grain of salt.

The Vivo V9 is said to feature a 6” 2160 x 1080 AMOLED display covered with Gorilla Glass 5. A Snapdragon 660 paired with 4GB of RAM drives the phone. It will have 64GB of expandable storage and 12MP + 8MP dual camera on its rear.

A 3250mAh battery powers it and it will run FunTouch OS 4.0 based on Android 8.0 Oreo. Its dimensions are said to be 155.9 x 75.2 x 7.2 mm with a weight of 159g.

In addition to that, Vivo Indonesia’s YouTube channel has gone ahead to release the official ad for the phone. The video confirms it does have a 24MP selfie camera and it will be available in black and gold.

Now, ahead of the official launch, the phone’s live images have leaked online, giving us a clear look at its design. The Vivo V9 will be featuring a full-screen display with 18:9 aspect ratio and a notch on the top — making it the first phone from Vivo to have a notch. However, this was confirmed by the teaser image posted by the company.

Apart from the full-screen display with minimal bezels on the sides, the newly leaked images suggest that the phone will also have a dual camera setup on the back. Because of thin bezels, the fingerprint sensor has also been placed on the back panel in the top-center region.

The dual cameras on the back are aligned vertically in the top-left corner along with an LED flash placed just below the camera sensors. Earlier, while teasing the phone, the company revealed one of the highlights of the Vivo V9 is featuring a 24-megapixel front-facing camera.

These newly leaked images also reveal that the phone will have a 3.5mm audio jack at the bottom along with a micro USB port. We expect the phone to run on Android Oreo operating system with the company’s own FunTouch user interface on top. We don’t know much about the hardware of the Vivo V9 except for its 24MP selfie camera up front. The phone is unsurprisingly taking its design inspiration from Apple’s iPhone X, just like most other Android manufacturers in the market. ASUS did the same with its new Zenfone 5 series, OPPO with the new R15 models, and even Huawei with the P20 series. It looks like this year, the notch is really going to be a big trend among Android manufacturers, so it isn’t surprising that Vivo too is joining the party.

We can confirm the dual cameras from the poster along with a rear placed fingerprint sensor. So, it looks like the V9 series won’t be having the under display fingerprint sensor. That’s likely reserved for the X series.

Vivo stole the show at MWC 2018 with its APEX concept phone. With a launch scheduled for next week, Vivo sure has been busy. But it appears that is not the only device they have been working on. A billboard for the Vivo V9 was recently seen and it hints at a launch happening soon.

We guess Vivo is skipping the number 8 for the V-series and jumping straight to 9. We have no idea why Vivo would do this since the Chinese culture considers 8 to be the luckiest number.

The Vivo V9 is shown on the billboard rocking a display with a notch just like that of Apple’s iPhone X. The bezels on the sides are quite thin and the bottom bezel is smaller than that of the Vivo V7.

The Vivo V9 also comes with a 24MP selfie camera like its predecessors but it may not be the exact sensor as the billboard says it is “new”.
