Vivo has launched the Watch 5 smartwatch in China alongside the X Fold 5, offering Bluetooth and eSIM variants starting at 799 yuan (~$110). The new smartwatch focuses on fitness tracking, cross-device connectivity, and interactive features, including a virtual pet that evolves based on user activity data.

Vivo Watch 5 Specifications

The Watch 5 features a lightweight 32g aluminum alloy body and comes in multiple color options such as Midnight Black, Moonlight White, Peach Pink, Stardust Pink, and Silver Steel. Vivo also provides a stainless steel version that weighs slightly more at 35g or 36g, depending on the strap and finish.

The watch includes a 1.43-inch AMOLED display with 466 × 466 resolution, 1500 nits peak brightness, and a 60Hz refresh rate. It supports always-on display, dynamic watch faces, and Live Photo support.

Battery life differs depending on usage mode. Vivo claims up to 22 days of battery life in Bluetooth-only mode, 14 days in eSIM dual-device mode, and 7 days in eSIM standalone mode. The watch charges via a magnetic puck and takes about two hours for a full charge.

The Watch 5 runs on Vivo’s BlueOS and supports both Android and iOS platforms. It enables simultaneous connection with a Vivo phone and an iPhone, allowing users to receive calls and notifications from both devices. The eSIM version supports voice calls, messaging, and WeChat independently without relying on a connected phone.

The Vivo Watch 5 includes a comprehensive suite of health features. It continuously monitors heart rate and blood oxygen levels, tracks sleep with detailed phase analysis, and detects stress levels. The watch also supports menstrual cycle tracking and issues arrhythmia alerts for conditions like atrial fibrillation and premature beats. Users can perform a quick 30-second blood pressure risk screening, and health data can be conveniently shared with family members through the Vivo Health app.

The smartwatch includes over 100 workout modes, with specific enhancements for racket sports like tennis, badminton, and ping pong. These modes provide motion coaching, grip guidance, and swing speed data. AI-assisted running plans and personalized coaching options are also available for activities like stretching, yoga, strength training, and cardio.

The smartwatch includes several lifestyle features, such as a virtual pet that users can feed using calories and steps, with the pet visible on the watch face. It supports NFC-based payments, access to public transit, smart door unlocking, and car control. The eSIM variant offers deeper integration with BYD vehicles through a dedicated app, allowing remote unlocking, air conditioning control, and other functions directly from the watch.

Pricing and Availability

The Vivo Watch 5 is now available in China, with the Bluetooth version priced at 799 yuan ($110) and the eSIM version at 999 yuan ($140). The watch is compatible with a wide range of accessories, and early buyers may receive promotional bundles through Vivo’s official channels.

Alongside the new X200 series smartphones and a couple of tablets, Vivo introduced a new smartwatch in China called the Watch 5. It’s an incremental update over the Watch 3 with enhancements in design, sports tracking, and health data. 

Vivo Watch 5 Specifications

Design-wise, not much has changed at first glance. The Watch 5 keeps the familiar circular dial and offers a 1.43-inch curved AMOLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate and up to 1500 nits of brightness. 

Available in Night Black and Moonlight White with either aluminum alloy or stainless steel cases, the watch now weighs just 32g without the strap. That’s a minor but noticeable cut from its predecessor’s 35g frame. Users can choose between silicone or leather straps depending on their preference.

This year’s model runs on BlueOS 2.0 with a few new software tricks up its sleeve. There’s the new AI Sports Coach that can track running posture, efficiency, and even suggest fat-burning workout plans based on your real-time heart rate. 

Vivo also claims a more complete suite of health monitoring features, with 24-hour tracking of heart rate, blood oxygen, stress, sleep, and even participation in blood pressure and heart health studies.

As with the Watch 3, there’s still no full operating system here. You’ll find a functional app store, but limited third-party app support. Still, it covers the basics like Bluetooth calling, music controls, and notifications. It also supports NFC for payments, GPS for outdoor tracking, and is rated 5ATM for water resistance.

One of the biggest selling points is battery life. Vivo says the Watch 5 can last up to 22 days on Bluetooth mode in long-term use scenarios, thanks to more efficient power management. There’s also a new AI Smart Window feature that prioritizes information you’re most likely to need based on usage patterns.

The Watch 5 is compatible with both Android and iOS devices, which isn’t always a given in the smartwatch space. For those in China, WeChat is supported on the watch directly.

Vivo Watch 5 Price and Availability

The Vivo Watch 5 is priced at CNY 799 (around $109) for the silicone strap variant, and CNY 999 (roughly $136) for the leather strap option. Pre-orders are open now, and official sales will start from April 29 onwards. No word yet on international availability.

Vivo Watch 5 features

The Watch 5 is rated for 22 days of battery life, up from 16 days on the Watch 3. This jump is due to Vivo’s switch from Wear OS to its own Blue River operating system, which uses less power.

Vivo is also focusing on health tracking. The Watch 5 will feature a 30-second rapid risk assessment for arrhythmia and other heart health checks. It also supports blood pressure monitoring, making it more useful for everyday health tracking.

In addition, the Watch 5 will include AI-based running guidance. While details on this feature are limited, it’s likely designed to help users improve their running with real-time tips or analysis. You can check out the features of its predecessor, the Vivo Watch 3, to get a better idea of what to expect from the successor.

The Vivo Watch 3 features a 1.43-inch AMOLED display with 466 x 466 resolution, a rotating crown, and runs on BlueOS. It offers advanced health tracking with 8-channel heart rate and 16-channel SpO2 monitoring, stress and sleep tracking, and over 100 sports modes. Connectivity features include Bluetooth calling, music control, NFC access, and motion gestures. The watch weighs 36g and provides up to 16 days of battery life in Bluetooth mode.

Vivo is set to launch its flagship Vivo X200s and Vivo X200 Ultra smartphones in China later this month. Alongside these premium devices, the brand has now confirmed the debut of three new products—the Vivo Pad 5 Pro, Vivo Pad SE, and Vivo Watch 5. However, the official launch date for these products has yet to be revealed. Shortly after this confirmation, well-known tipster Digital Chat Station shared key details about the upcoming tablets and smartwatch on Weibo.

Vivo Pad 5 Pro key specifications (rumored)

The Vivo Pad 5 Pro is expected to be a flagship tablet featuring a large 13-inch LCD screen with a 3.1K resolution and a high refresh rate for smooth visuals. It will be powered by the Dimensity 9400 chipset and backed by a massive 12,000mAh battery with 66W fast charging support.

The tablet is likely to sport an 8-megapixel front camera and a 13-megapixel rear camera, offering a solid multimedia experience. Vivo is expected to offer the Pad 5 Pro in four configurations—8GB+256GB, 12GB+256GB, 12GB+512GB, and 16GB+512GB—along with color options like Spring Tide Blue, Cold Star Gray, Cloud Pink, and Light Feather White.

Vivo Pad SE key specifications (rumored)

The Vivo Pad SE, on the other hand, will be an entry-level tablet featuring a 12.25-inch LCD screen. Vivo is also expected to introduce a special soft light screen variant for users who prefer a more eye-friendly display. At present, there is no information about its cameras, battery size, and charging capabilities.

The device will support 15W charging and come in three configurations—6GB+128GB, 8GB+128GB, and 8GB+256GB. Buyers will have the option to choose from blue, titanium, and dark gray color variants.

Vivo will also unveil the Vivo Watch 5, which is expected to run on the brand’s Blue OS (or Blue River OS) system. The smartwatch will likely be available in three finishes—Starry Black, Moonlight White, and a premium Stainless Steel edition equipped with a leather belt. While specific features remain unknown, the watch is expected to offer enhanced health tracking and smart connectivity.

With these new products, Vivo is set to expand its portfolio in the tablet and smartwatch segment, complementing its upcoming flagship smartphones.
