Vivo X Flip marks the brand’s entry in the clamshell foldable phone category. It debuted today in China alongside the second-gen X Fold 2 and brings some notable features that make it a worthy competitor to the existing Oppo Find N2 Flip and the Galaxy Z Flip 4. There’s a spacious 3-inch AMOLED cover display and a 6.74-inch main panel. The company has now detailed that the phone uses a BOE-made display with new Q9 luminous materials and adaptive dynamic refresh rate technology.

Vivo X Flip gets an immersive display

Vivo X Flip debuted earlier today and the company has now shared some interesting information about its display. As per the official announcement, the flippable brings unique adaptive OLED internal and external screens, manufactured by China’s BOE.

The Vivo X Flip series boasts a top-of-the-line flexible OLED display technology solution from BOE, which comes equipped with the company’s ultra-thin glass (UTG) technology. With UTG, the folding screen’s durability and flexibility have been significantly improved, making it thinner and less prone to display damage.

Further, the handset features a 6.74-inch OLED folding screen with BOE’s water drop folding and bending solution. The screen remains flat after bending and unfolding, however, there’s a notable crease. The panel is claimed to offer a smooth touch response speed with 240Hz touch sampling rate technology.

Both the internal and external dual screens use BOE’s new Q9 luminescent materials, providing an optimal color display with a wide color gamut technology and a peak brightness of 1200nit. The company has also incorporated ultra-high frequency PWM dimming technology that protects the eyes by reducing the potential damage caused by screen flickering in dark environments. In addition, the harmful blue light on the screen is minimized through the optimization of the screen’s light-emitting structural unit.

Vivo X Flip With Horizontal Secondary Display Launched

The Vivo X Flip has debuted alongside the Vivo X Fold 2. It is the first clamshell folding phone from the brand. Vivo has joined the bandwagon of vertical folding phones like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, OPPO Find N2 Flip, Motorola Razr etc. Notably, the Vivo X Flip has a unique secondary display, unlike its competitors. Read on to know what the device offers out of the box.

Vivo X Fip specifications and features

The Vivo X Fold 2 is a vertical folding phone. It has a 6.7-inch AMOLED display bearing a center-aligned punch-hole cutout and a tall aspect ratio. The device features an FHD+ resolution, 1,200 nits peak brightness, a 120Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+ support. The X Flip’s back panel has a horizontal secondary display with slightly curved edges that spans from the left edge to right. The secondary screen measures 3 inches with an AMOLED panel and bears a resolution of 682 x 422 pixels. It can be used for various purposes like using payment codes, viewing information, NFC, music playback, and more.

In terms of design, the Vivo X Flip flaunts an embossed diamond cut pattern on the back panel. There is a side-mounted fingerprint scanner embedded in the power button. The foldable device has a Flex Mode that lets users prop the device up for hands-free calling, video playback, and photography. Vivo says that it has used ultra-thin glass for invisible crease and the hinge is claimed to last 500,000 times.

The Vivo X Flip has a circular camera module at the top left corner. The phone features a ZEISS-branded 50MP OIS-enabled primary sensor paired with a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens. There is a 32MP front-facing selfie snapper.

Under the hood, the Vivo X Flip is equipped with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. It packs 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB UFS 4.0 storage. The device draws its power from a 4,400mAh battery unit with support for 44W fast charging. Software-wise, the foldable phone runs on Android 13-based OriginOS 3.

Connectivity options on the Vivo X Flip include a USB-C port, WiFi, Bluetooth, dual-band GPS, and 5G.

The Vivo X Flip starts at RMB 5,999 (~$871) for the 12GB + 256GB option and the 12GB + 512GB variant carries a price tag of RMB 6,999 (~$1,017). The foldable phone is up for pre-orders with sales commencing from April 28th. It is offered in Drill Black, Silk Gold, and Ling Purple colors.

Vivo will hold its mega launch event in China tomorrow (April 20). The company entered the horizontally foldable device market last year by launching the Vivo X Fold and Vivo X Fold+. Tomorrow’s event will see the arrival of the Vivo X Fold 2, which will be the world’s first Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered foldable phone. The Vivo X Flip debuting alongside it will be Vivo’s first clamshell phone with a foldable screen. In addition to these devices, the Chinese manufacturer will also remove the covers from its second-generation tablet, named the Vivo Pad 2.

Its rear camera setup will have an OIS-enabled 50-megapixel primary camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens with a 108-degree FOV, and a 12-megapixel portrait camera. The device will come with 256 GB / 512 GB storage and colour options like black, blue, and red.

It will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset, 12 GB of LPDDR5x RAM, 256 GB / 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage, and a 4,400mAh battery with 44W charging. It will be available in shades like black, gold, and purple.

Vivo Pad 2 specifications (rumoured)

The Vivo Pad 2 will arrive with a 12-inch LCD screen that offers a 2.8K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The Dimensity 9000c chip will power the device with 8 GB / 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and a 10,000mAh battery with 44W fast charging support.

The Pad 2 will arrive in 128 GB / 256 GB / 512 GB storage variants. It will have an 8-megapixel front camera and a 13-megapixel (main) + 2-megapixel (macro) dual-camera system on the back. It will arrive in grey, blue, and cyan shades.

All the above devices will run on Android 13 and OriginOS 3. The Pad 2 will have a tablet optimized version of OriginOS. At present, there is no information available on the prices of these products.

Vivo is gearing up to launch new foldable smartphones models soon. The new foldable phones include the Vivo X Fold 2 and the X Flip, which are set to release later this week. But prior to its launch, a new leak has revealed key specs of both of these models.

Vivo X Fold 2

The news arrives from known tipster Ishan Agarwal who shared the information with 91Mobiles. For those unaware, the Chinese smartphone maker is set to unveil the new X Fold and X Flip model on 20th April 2023. The X Fold 2 will sport a tall 8.03 inch primary display that folds like a notebook, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold models. This panel will feature a 4:3.5 aspect ratio, 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and 360ppi. Meanwhile, its secondary display will be a 6.53 inch panel that has a 21:9 aspect ratio, 2,520×1,080px resolution, 120hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and 420ppi.

Talking about its dimensions, it is believed to measure 13mm (around 6mm when unfolded) in thickness and 280 grams in weight. Under the hood, the device will run on Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC that will be paired with around 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB or 512GB of UFS 4.0 internal storage. The X Fold 2 will be powered by a 4,800mAh battery pack that will support 120W wired fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging.

For photography, the Vivo X Fold 2 will reportedly feature a triple camera setup that consists of a 50 megapixel primary sensor (f/1.75 aperture), a 12 megapixel ultra wide angle lens (f/2.0) that has a 108 degree field of view, and a 12 megapixel portrait shooter with a 47mm focal length while the front has a 16 megapixel selfie camera. The new leak also revealed key specifications of the upcoming X Flip model. As its name suggests, it will feature a clamshell folding design, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip models. Its primary display is a tall 6.74 inch AMOLED panel that has a 21:9 aspect ratio, 2,520 x 1080px resolution, HDR10+ support, 406ppi, and 120Hz refresh rate. On the other hand, it will also feature a 3 inch cover display. Under the hood, the device is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC that will be paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB or 512GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage.

The smartphone will be powered by a 4,400mAh battery pack that will support 44W fast charging. On the rear, the X Flip will feature a 32 megapixel primary camera (f/1.75) along with a 12 megapixel ultra wide angle lens with a 108 degree field of view (f/2.2). Vivo is gearing up to launch two foldable phones in China on April 20th. These include the Vivo X Fold 2 and X Flip. The former will arrive as the successor to the first-generation X Fold whereas the latter is the brand’s first clamshell flip phone. Both the upcoming offerings have been spotted in official-looking images recently. Now, ahead of the launch event, tipster Ishan Agarwal has leaked the full spec sheet of the Vivo X Fold 2 and X Flip.

The Vivo X Fold 2 will come with a 6.53-inch main exterior display bearing a resolution of 2,520 x 1,080 pixels. The interior screen will measure 8.03 inches with a resolution of 2,160 x 1,916 pixels. Both displays will have a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and an integrated fingerprint scanner. Samsung Galaxy M14 5G

Samsung will debut the Galaxy M14 5G in India on April 17 (Monday) at 12 PM IST. As per the teasers, the device will be a rebranded version of Galaxy A14 5G.

The handset will be powered by an Exynos 1330 chipset. It will sport an Infinity-V display, which may have a 90Hz refresh rate. It will come with a 50MP camera, a 6,000mAh battery, and 25W fast charging support.

The phone is teased to cost below ₹15,000 (~$180) in the country.

Huawei Nova 11 Series and Enjoy 60X

The Huawei Nova 11 series is scheduled to launch in China on April 17 (Monday) at 12 PM IST. It will be accompanied by Huawei Enjoy 60X.

The Nova 11 series will be the first mid-range smartphone lineup to have support for a satellite communication system. At least, one of the models in the lineup will be also the first inexpensive smartphone to offer a variable aperture camera. Anyways, they will be limited to 4G connectivity.

Whereas, the Enoy 60X will arrive with a massive 7,000mAh battery and a large 6.95-inch display. However, the screen will be an HD+ LCD panel and the device will be powered by a years-old Kriin 710F chip.

Xiaomi 13 Ultra

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is one of the most anticipated smartphones of 2023. It is set to launch on April 18 (Tuesday) at 7 PM GMT+8. Unlike, its predecessor, it will be released in select international markets outside mainland China.

The Fold 2 will succeed the Vivo X Fold+, while the X Flip will be the first flip smartphone out of the Vivo camp. Now, a new report has revealed the launch dates of these devices.

According to an image shared by Weibo tipster 熊猫很禿然, the launch event for the Vivo X Fold 2 and Vivo X Flip will happen on 20th April at 7 PM in China. It is likely that the rumored Vivo Pad 2 will also be joining these foldables at the launch event. Let’s take a look at what we know about these devices so far.

Vivo X Fold 2

The Vivo X Fold 2 is expected to have an 8.03-inch foldable AMOLED E6 screen with a resolution of 2160 x 1916 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 1800 nits. The month of March was full of smartphone launches. We witnessed the release of many most-anticipated handsets like the Oppo Find X6 series, Huawei P60 series, Redmi Note Turbo, and more.

April won’t be different either. Multiple big-name brands have already confirmed to debut several high-profile devices.

Vivo T2 Series

The Vivo T2 series is set to launch in India on April 11 at 12 PM IST. The lineup will include two devices, namely Vivo T2 and Vivo T2x.

The T2 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 SoC, while the T2x will house a MedaiTek Dimensity 700 chipset. However, both will boot Android 13.

They will arrive with AMOLED displays featuring a dewdrop notch, a 1,300 nits peak brightness level, and up to a 350Hz touch sampling rate. Lastly, they will reportedly cost below ₹20,000 in the country.

Realme Narzo N55

The Realme Narzo N55 is scheduled to launch in India on April 12 at 12 PM IST. As per teasers and leaks, the phone will be a rebranded Realme C55 and will be sold via Amazon instead of Flipkart.

It will come with a 6.72-inch 90Hz centered punch-hole FHD+ display (LCD), a MediaTek Helio G88 chip, a 64MP main camera, an 8MP front-facing camera, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, Android 13, a 5,000mAh battery, and 33W fast charging support.

Being a budget smartphone, the handset will offer a dedicated MicroSD card slot and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Finally, it will be available in blue and black color options.

Asus ROG Phone 7 Series

The ROG Phone 7 series by Asus will be unveiled on April 13 at 8 PM GMT+8. The lineup will include at least three devices, namely ROG Phone 7, ROG Phone 7 Pro, and ROG Phone 7D.

All three models are expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset paired with LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. They will boot Android 13 and will sport a 6.78-inch FHD+ 165Hz AMOLED display.

The handsets will look similar to their predecessors. They will most likely cost about the same as well.

Osom Solana Saga

The Osom Solana Saga is finally launching on April 13 at 10 AM Pacific Time. This device was initially announced almost a year ago in June 2022 as a Web3 smartphone.

Apart from the key features of the handset, the company also disclosed the hardware specs of this phone. Thus, we know that it will arrive with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 SoC, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, and a 6.67-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display.

The product will offer a 50MP Sony IMX766 primary camera, a 12MP Sony IMX373 ultra-wide unit, a 16MP front-facing camera, a 4,110mAh battery, and an IP68 rating for dust as well as water resistance.

Xiaomi 13 Ultra

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra has been confirmed to launch in China in April. The company is yet to officially reveal the date but we know a few things about the device already.

The device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 2 chipset. It will house an improved Leica-powered quad-camera system. The setup will include a 1-inch 50MP Sony IMX989 primary sensor and three 50MP Sony IMX858 sensors for ultra-wide, telephoto, and periscope.

It will come with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. Finally, it will boot MIUI 14 based on Android 13 and will carry support for 90W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

Vivo X Fold 2 and Vivo X Flip

The Vivo X Fold 2 and Vivo X Flip are expected to launch this month. The former will go official as the world’s first Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 foldable, while the latter is the company’s first clamshell foldable.

The X Fold 2 is said to come with an 8.03-inch 120Hz main display and a 6.03-inch 120Hz secondary screen. It will sport a Zeiss-powered triple camera setup head by a 50MP Sony IMX866 sensor. These cameras will use Vivo V2 ISP for image processing.

On the other hand, the X Flip will feature a large cover display on its back. But the screen appears to be inconvenient. This device is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip instead.

Poco F5 Series

The Poco F5 and Poco F5 Pro might release by the end of April. These handsets will go official as rebranded Redmi Note 12 Turbo and Redmi K60.

Therefore, the vanilla model will house the new Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2 chipset, whereas the pro variant will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset. But both will arrive with an OIS-assisted 64MP main camera, MIUI 14 based on Android 13, and 67W wired charging support.

Since both are rebadged versions of different phone lineups, their design will differ. Thus, the regular variant will sport a 3.5mm headphone jack, unlike the pro.

Oppo A1 and Oppo A98

The Vivo X Flip is tipped to debut this month alongside the X Fold 2 and Pad 2 in China. It will be the brand’s first clamshell folding phone. The Vivo X Flip was recently spotted in a leaked live image. Now more official-looking images of the phone have surfaced on Weibo giving us a better look at the device. Chinese actress Wang Ziwen (aka Ava Wang) is seen posing with the upcoming Vivo X Flip in the images.

Right off the bat, the Vivo X Flip seems to be a tall phone with a large interior display. It has a slim profile and curved edges on all four sides. The back panel has an embossed diamond cut pattern and is in Purple color. The device is also expected to be offered in Black and Gold hues. There is a circular camera module at the top left corner of the back panel. It houses two sensors and an LED flash sits outside. The images also confirm the presence of ZEISS-branded cameras on the upcoming foldable phone.

Coming to the main aspect, the images reveal the Vivo X Flip with a horizontal display on the back panel. It is located just below the camera module and the screen stretches from one end to another with slightly curved corners. The secondary screen maxes out at the hinge where the phone folds.

Vivo is gearing up to release new foldable smartphones. The company is expected to debut Vivo X Fold 2 and Vivo X Flip this month.

The latter is the brand’s first clamshell foldable smartphone. A live image of this device has now emerged on the internet.

The picture reveals the design of the handset. It matches a mockup render from earlier.

An image from this gallery was shared by Digital Chat Station earlier today. The picture showcases the device in purple color.

The phone will feature a circular camera module, like the rest of the Vivo X lineup, including the Vivo X Fold series. It will be located on the top left corner of the handset when unfolded. As a result, the rectangular cover screen will be placed below it.

Hence, in the folded state, the cover display comes on the top of the camera module. This sounds bad as it would be difficult to reach the screen with one hand.

To avoid this inconvenience, the cover display on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip series is placed on the top end, which comes down when folded. The same is the case for Oppo Find N2 Flip.

The upcoming vivo X Flip is set to become the next clamshell foldable smartphone on the market, with a launch scheduled for this quarter. More information about the phone’s cover display and design has recently appeared in a fresh mockup.

A sliver of aluminum will serve as the hinge on the X Flip, which will have a design resembling that of the X90 series. The X Flip will feature a design similar to the X90 series, with a sliver of aluminum serving as the hingeisland, the external screen will be 682 pixels wide and have a vertical rectangular form. Only two lenses will be used in the camera arrangement, leaving an area for the ZEISS logo.

The internal display of the X Flip will have a width of 1080 pixels, matching other flip-foldable smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, Oppo Fold, and Motorola Razr that are presently available. The only device with a slightly bigger screen and a higher ppi density is the Huawei Mate Xs.

The volume rocker and power key are both visible on the right side of the device. It appears like the power key will have a side-mounted fingerprint scanner because it is level with the side. Vivo is reportedly working on two new foldable phones for the Chinese market. According to reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, the company is planning to launch the Vivo X Fold 2 and the Vivo X Flip in the first half of 2022. The tipster has shared the key specifications of the X Fold 2.

According to the tipster, the Vivo X Fold 2 will feature a foldable screen that offers a 2K resolution. It seems that the front, as well as inner displays, will be equipped with an under-screen fingerprint scanner.

Tipster Digital Chat Station revealed that Vivo will soon unveil the Vivo X Flip clamshell phone in China. It will be the company’s first-ever flip phone with a foldable screen. Soon after revealing the existence of the device, the tipster shared a schematic to showcase a design. At the same time, another tipster shared a simulated image of the X Flip based on the real device.

The schematic and the render reveal that the Vivo X Flip’s back will have a round-shaped camera module, which seems to house a triple camera unit. On its right, there is a triple LED flash and the ZEISS logo.

In the online post, the leak claimed that the Chinese smartphone maker is working on a new “Flip” model. For those unaware, the company already has a foldable smartphone which is the X Fold.
