Earlier today (4th January 2024), Vivo unveiled its flagship X100 series of smartphones in the Indian market. The devices include the X100 and X100 Pro models, and now, a new leak has revealed key specifications regarding the unreleased Vivo X100 Pro+.

Vivo X100 Pro+ Specs

The Chinese tech giant is expected to announce the X100 Pro+ in the second quarter of this year. But ahead of any official announcement, a leak from a known tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed more details regarding the upcoming flagship grade device. He claims that the X100 Pro+ will sport a Samsung E7 AMOLED display, which will feature a single punch hole cutout and curved edges. It will even house an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner under the display.

The front houses a 32-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls, while the rear features a triple camera setup. This consists of a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-900 primary camera, a 50-megapixel ultra wide angle lens, and a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto shooter that offers 4.3x optical zoom and up to 20x digital zoom. Unfortunately, the battery capacity of the Vivo X100 Pro+ is still unclear. But it should be similar if not identical to the X100 Pro model.

So we can expect around a 5,400mAh battery pack that supports 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging. Similar to the other models in the X100 lineup, the X100 Pro+ also features two way satellite communication. Vivo may integrate satellite communication in the Vivo X100 Pro+

The latest Vivo X100 Pro+ is reportedly undergoing testing for satellite communication capabilities. While the Vivo X100 series made its debut in November with the Vivo X100 and Vivo X100 Pro, the Pro+ variant, equipped with satellite communication, is yet to be officially announced.

After Huawei and Oppo, Vivo is also working on satellite communication

Vivo is actively experimenting with satellite communication functionality. This move aligns with the trend set by Huawei, whose flagship phones like the Huawei Mate 60 Pro have already integrated satellite communication features.

oNotably, the OPPO Find X7 series has officially declared its support for satellite communication technology. The president of the Honor product line has hinted at satellite communication support in the upcoming flagship, expected to debut with the Magic 6. Xiaomi, too, has been rumored to be testing satellite communication capabilities. Although, it is unknown whether the Xiaomi 14 Ultra will pack this feature.

It’s not only mainstream phone brands delving into this innovative space. In November, China Telecom introduced the Tianyi Bolton S9, a 5G satellite dual-mode communication phone priced at 4599 yuan (~$650). This device comes equipped with a built-in satellite antenna, adopting the conventional phone form factor without the need to change SIM cards or numbers. The Tianyi Bolton S9 integrates China’s self-developed Tiantong satellite mobile communication system, supporting two-way Tiantong satellite voice communication and ensuring uninterrupted nationwide communication.

Vivo‘s move to test satellite communication in the X100 Pro+ suggests a growing interest for this feature among both manufacturers and consumers. With various players in the industry actively exploring this technology, it is expected to become a standard feature in mobile devices in the near future.

The Vivo X100 series is the brand’s latest generation of flagship smartphones. As we get closer to the official announcement, here’s a detailed roundup of all the rumors and leaks we have covered over the past few weeks. This should offer you a good idea of what to expect from the upcoming X100, X100 Pro, and X100 Pro+ models.

Vivo X100 Series: Design & Display

Since these are high end devices, the Vivo X100 lineup will launch with a premium design. In our previous report, we covered both leaked and official teaser image posters that revealed the color options of the X100 lineup. These images reveal not just the colors but the design of the upcoming smartphones as well. The X100 Pro models is set to launch in four color options, namely Star Trail Blue, Sunset Orange, White Moonlight, and Cheyne Black. The rear panel of the orange variant will include faux leather, while the others feature a glass back panel.

A large circular camera island can be seen at the back, which houses the multiple cameras. The X100 Pro series is expected to have curved edges. On the front, the Vivo X100 is rumored to sport a 6.79-inch AMOLED display that offers 120Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution. The higher end Pro and Pro+ variants are rumored to feature the same display size, with curved edges being the main distinction. All three models will house a center aligned punch hole cutout for the selfie camera.

Specifications

While the devices will likely appear similar from the outside, the internals are where the differences start surfacing. Under the hood, the base X100 and X100 Pro models are expected to feature the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC. However, a recent GeekBench sighting hinted that the X100 Pro could arrive in a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 variant, although this is highly unlikely. Lastly, the top end X100 Pro+ variant will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. Interestingly, these smartphones will be the first to feature LPDDR5T RAM. This memory promises to offer 13 percent faster performance over the LPDDR5X modules.

The X100 and X100 Pro will launch with at least one model that offers 12GB RAM, while the X100 Pro+ will top out with a whopping 24GB of memory and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. These could offer virtual RAM expansion support as well. A large 5,000mAh battery pack is expected to power the base model, while the Pro variants may pack a 5,400mAh battery. The lineup will offer 120W fast charging support, with the Pro models expected to offer 50W wireless fast charging as well. Vivo’s X100 phones would run on Android 14 OS based OriginOS 4 custom skin out of the box.

Camera

The Vivo X100 is expected to offer a triple camera setup that consists of a 50-megapixel Sony IMX920 primary sensor (OIS support, a 50-megapixel ultra wide angle lens, and a 64-megapixel periscope zoom lens (OIS, 3x optical zoom, and 100x digital zoom). On the other hand, the X100 Pro will offer a 50-megapixel Sony IMX989 sensor primary sensor, a 50-megapixel Samsung JN1 ultra wide angle lens, and a 64-megapixel OmniVision OV64B telephoto sensor.

VIvo X100 Pro+ Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

Lastly, the Vivo X100 Pro+ features a 50-megapixel Sony IMX989 primary sensor as well, which is paired with a 50-megapixel Sony IMX598 ultra wide angle lens, and a 50-megapixel IMX758 portrait sensor, and a 200-megapixel Samsung HP3 periscopic telephoto sensor with 10x optical zoom. Notably, a recent report hints that the X100 Pro+ is tipped to feature a 1-inch LYT-900 primary camera. All three models are rumored to house a 32-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls and include Zeiss-certified Vario-APO-Sonnar lens for the periscope lens. To improve the photography experience, the X100 Pro models will also feature Vivo’s self developed V3 image sensor chipset.

Launch Date and Pricing

On JD.com (a Chinese e-commerce website), the Vivo X100 will have a starting price tag of 3,999 Yuan (roughly 547 US Dollars). This variant offers 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. As per official notes, the Vivo X100 series will be unveiled in China on 13th November 2023. Vivo is expected to launch its flagship smartphones in the global market as well, although it is unclear which model will be released overseas.

Vivo X100 series will be the world’s first to feature LPDDR5T RAM: Tipster

Vivo is set to launch its next generation of flagship smartphones in its home market of China soon. The Vivo X100 series will feature top notch specs and features. But ahead of its announcement, a leak has claimed that the lineup will be the first in the world to feature LPDDR5T RAM.

Vivo X100 Series

According to known tipster Digital Chat Station, the Chinese tech giant’s entire flagship X100 lineup will feature the new LPDDR5T memory technology. For those unaware, SK Hynix announced the LPDDR5T RAM at the start of this year. This is currently the world’s fastest mobile DRAM module. The LPDDR5T memory is around 13 percent faster in terms of read speeds when compared to the LPDDR5X RAM. It saw speeds of up to 9.6Gbps.

Interestingly enough, the LPDDR5T module was also recently tested by MediaTek, which saw it outperform Samsung’s LPDDR5X RAM. The newer and faster memory is expected to be paired with the chipmaker’s flagship Dimensity 9300 SoC as well as UFS 4.0 storage. The Dimensity 9300 will be announced on November 6, with the Vivo X100 series being one of the first to feature the processor.

In other words, the X100 lineup will consist of various cutting edge technology. It is worth noting that the base Vivo X100 and X100 Pro are rumored to feature MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300 chipset. Meanwhile, the top end Vivo X100 Pro+ was confirmed to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 platform that was just recently announced.

The Vivo X100 series is the company’s next generation of flagship smartphones. The new devices have recently been spotted in various rumors and leaks that hinted at their upcoming announcement. But now, the launch date of the premium grade lineup has been revealed via leaked image posters.

Vivo X100 Series Launch Date

As per leaked teaser posters, the brand is planning on unveiling the Vivo X100 series in China on the 17th of November 2023 at 2:30 PM CST. In other words, the launch is just around the corner. Looking at these images, we can see that the device will arrive in multiple color options. This includes Light Blue, Orange, Red, White, and Black variants. Notably, the Orange, Red, and Black versions appear to have a faux leather rear panel, while the rest will likely offer a matte glass finish.

The leak is also in line with our previous report that hinted at a mid-November launch timeline. Just recently, the Vivo X100 Pro and base X100 were spotted on the 3C certification platform. This listing revealed that both models will feature 120W fast charging support. Furthermore, the X100 and X100 Pro are expected to launch with the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC, which is expected to be announced on November 6.

The two models are rumored to feature an IMX663 ultra wide angle lens and a 64-megapixel telephoto shooter on the rear. The primary sensor on the Vivo X100 is believed to be the Sony IMX920, while the X100 Pro could feature the Sony IMX989 sensor for the main camera. Under the hood, a large 5,100mAh battery will power the X100, while the X100 Pro is expected to house a large 5,400mAh battery pack. Vivo X100 Pro tipped to feature satellite connectivity

Vivo’s upcoming flagship smartphone, the Vivo X100 Pro, is rumored to feature satellite connectivity, according to a recent Weibo post by WhyLab. The device, model number V2309A, was recently spotted on MIIT certification with a listing stating two-way satellite connectivity. As per the report, the X100 pro would be able to send and receive text, pictures, voice recordings, and even videos without being in the range of a cellular network.

The feature is likely to be powered by a Unisoc V8821 chipset, which was announced back in July. Allegedly, Vivo was one of the partners of Unisoc in the development of this chipset. It is specifically designed for 5G non-terrestrial networks (NTNs) that will handle the satellite connectivity.

Satellite connectivity is a new feature that seems to be a big deal for this year’s flagships. It can be used to communicate with emergency services if you’re stranded in an area with no cell service.

Apple debuted satellite connectivity in the iPhone 14 series as a safety feature, and other Android brands are following suit. The recently announced Huawei Mate 60 Pro also offers full mobile connectivity through a satellite connection. Now, Vivo is joining the fray.

Tipster reveals Q1 2024 release date for the Vivo X100 Pro+ and Vivo X Fold 3

Reliable Tipster Digital Chat Station has hinted at a possible early 2024 launch for the Vivo X100 Pro+ and new Vivo X Fold models, among others. The models will launch first in China and thereafter their availability will expectedly spread to other markets.

The tipster provided the launch timeframes for the various products that included Vivo and iQOO brands. The models will come with some changes from their existing predecessors, according to the tipster.

Another model mentioned for launch this month is the Vivo X90S which is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9200 Plus chipset. The Vivo X100 and X100 Pro will be reportedly launched this November while the X100 Pro+ will be released in Q1 2024. The X100 and X100 Pro will be powered by the Dimensity 9300 chip while the X100 Pro+ will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.

The next Vivo foldable smartphone could be named either Vivo X Fold 3 or Vivo X Fold 2+ according to Digital Chat Station. The upcoming Vivo foldable will come with an iterative folding screen and is a flagship offering. It will reportedly be launched in the first quarter of 2024. It is however unclear whether the new Vivo foldable will launch simultaneously with the X100 Pro+.

Vivo is yet to provide any official statement relating to its lineup of smartphones scheduled for launch later this year and early 2024. The specs details of the rumored upcoming Vivo models are also not known at this time.
