Vivo X20 Plus UD version has gone through DXOMark test and its overall score is pretty impressive. The X20 Plus UD version had a total of 90 points, the same score with the Google Pixel, HTC U11 and Mi Note 3. Google Pixel 2 remains the highest rated phone camera according to DXOMark’s rating where it got a score of 90. This score shows that the X20 Plus has the potential of being an outstanding smartphone for photography enthusiasts

Of course, the Vivo X20 Plus UD version comes with the same specification as the regular X20 Plus so the camera rating is expected to cut across all models of the X20 Plus. The X20 Plus comes with an attractive design which includes a dual camera setup at the rear. The rear cameras include a f/1.8 aperture 12-megapixel sensor that is coupled with a secondary sensor of 5-megapixel. For snapping selfies, the handset is equipped with f/2.0 aperture 12-megapixel camera.

The summary of the DXOMark test shows that the Vivo X20 Plus’ camera performed better in still photography than in the video aspect. The X20 Plus recorded a sub-score of 92 points in the aspect of photos. The key attributes which give the X20 Plus camera its outstanding rating include its good exposures, particularly in indoor conditions; a very good wide aperture mode, which produces a mild, but attractive bokeh effect with few artefacts; and outstanding autofocus performance. The device also packs a capable video mode with a sub-score of 87 points and should be an amazing one for photography enthusiast.

On Jan. 24, Vivo had officially launched the Vivo X20 Plus In-Screen Fingerprint smartphone after demonstrating at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018. It is the world’s first phone to feature an under-display fingerprint sensor. Starting from 10 AM, the smartphone will be available for buying in China through the official website of Vivo and Jingdong Mall.

The Vivo X20 Plus UD is priced at 3,598 Yuan in China. It is available with some attractive freebies such as Vivo P50 5,000mAh power bank worth 99 Yuan and Smart Bracelet worth 99 Yuan.

The Vivo X20 Plus UD comes with a 6.43-inch AMOLED display that supports FHD+ resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. The in-screen fingerprint sensor supplied by Synaptics is present between the top glass and OLED panel. It can be not only used for unlocking the phone but also for authenticating payments on WeChat and AliPay. Vivo recommends the users X20 Plus UD to make use of the thin screen protector provided with the device to safeguard the display and its fingerprint sensor. Using a thicker screen protector may hamper the performance of the fingerprint reader. The handset is also equipped with face recognition feature.

Vivo had showcased the world’s first smartphone with under-display fingerprint scanner supplied by Synaptics at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018 earlier in this month. However, at that time, the company had not disclosed the official name of the device. Yesterday, Vivo had a launch event to unleash the X20 Plus In-Screen Fingerprint version that is also known as Vivo X20 Plus UD. Customers who are interested in buying the smartphone should be aware of the fact that its in-screen fingerprint sensor will not work with screen protectors of certain thickness.

The fingerprint sensor is placed beneath the outer glass and OLED panel of the phone. Hence, a scratch to the display area can cause the fingerprint reader to malfunction. Hence, users will have to make use of a screen protector on the X20 Plus UD. However, it should be noted that a thick screen protector will not allow the fingerprint scanner to function properly.

To deliver seamless experience with under-display fingerprint sensor on the new X20 Plus, the company is providing a thin screen protector in the box package of the phone. The thin screen protector will not only safeguard the screen but also to unlock it by pressing the fingerprint icon. If the customer wants to replace the screen protector that is provided with the phone, Vivo will be selling the right kind of screen protectors for the X20 Plus UD.

Vivo X20 Plus UD, which is believed to the world’s first smartphone to feature an under-display fingerprint sensor, will reportedly go on sale later this month in China for a price of 3,698 Yuan, which roughly converts to $574.

At Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018 in Las Vegas, Vivo showcased the world’s first commercial phone to feature a fingerprint scanner under the display. However, the company refrained from revealing the phone’s name as well as its specifications and design.

It is said that the China-based company has already started mass production of the device and is expected to launch it soon. While we were expecting the device to get unveiled at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the phone might get announced sooner. If the latest reports are to be believed, then the phone, which is believed to be the Vivo X20 Plus UD, will go on sale from this month itself.

Alex Feng, Senior Vice President at Vivo had revealed that the phone will be officially announced in early 2018. He further added that the device provides a more comfortable authentication experience. The phone packs an in-display fingerprint technology by Synaptics which only works with OLED displays, and thus, the handset will feature an AMOLED display.

The fingerprint scanner will be placed between the glass panel and the OLED display panel. When the finger touches the glass panel, the OLED panel illuminates the fingerprint area and the chip inside processes the beams of light emitted.

The Vivo X20 Plus UD recently received 3C certification. Previous leaks have suggested that the phone will be similar to the Vivo X20 Plus in terms of design as well as specifications. It is said to feature a 6.43-inch full-screen display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone will be powered by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 660 processor, coupled with 4GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The device is also said to be fuelled by a 3,900mAh battery.

One major concern about this new fingerprint scanning technology is the speed of recognition. The prototype showcase had the response time of about 0.6s – 0.7 seconds, which is a bit slower than the regular fingerprint sensors. However, we expect the response time to improve by the time phone makes its debut.
