Following the Xiaomi 17 series announcements, Vivo is set to release its next generation of flagship smartphones soon. We already know plenty of details regarding the Vivo X300 lineup through leaks, rumors, and official teasers. So here’s a quick roundup of everything that we know so far.

Display & Design

Last year’s Vivo X200 series consisted of the Vivo X200, Vivo X200 Pro, and Vivo X200 Pro Mini. There was also an X300 Ultra, but the top model debuted a few months later. But this time around, the Chinese brand is shaking things up with just the Vivo X300 and Vivo X300 Pro model. The standard X300 is taking the role of the compact flagship. The design is only getting minor refinements, so the overall design remains the same across generation. Meaning, you still get a large circular camera module, although the X300 series have a flat rear panel and frame.

Official teasers have confirmed a Lucky Color, Cozy Purple, Free Blue and Pure Black colors for the vanilla model and the X300 Pro will arrive in Wilderness Brown, Simple White, Free Blue and Pure Black. Other notable design elements include IP68 + IP69 rating for water and dust resistance and 7.95mm thin body (7.99mm on the X300 Pro). On the front, the Vivo X300 is expected to sport a 6.31-inch LTPO OLED screen with a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Meanwhile, the more expensive Pro model gets a taller 6.78-inch panel. Both models are getting an upgraded BOE Q10 Plus OLED screen with support for 1 nit brightness.

Performance

MediaTek recently unveiled its new top of the line mobile chip, the Dimensity 9500. This processor is set to power the upcoming Android flagships, including the Vivo X300 series. Apart from the usual upgrades in performance, you also get improvements in NPU performance, ISP, and even console-like ray tracing support on the D9500. Both the standard and Pro versions will feature the latest chip, with a GeekBench sighting also confirming support for at one configuration with 16GB of RAM.

The benchmark sighting even confirmed that the devices will run on the Android 16 OS based OriginOS 6 custom skin out of the box. A big new addition of this OS is the support for Apple ecosystem. Under the hood, a huge 6,040mAh battery pack is expected to power the Vivo X300 with support for 90W wired fast charging and fast wireless charging. The Vivo X300 Pro might get an even larger 6,510mAh cell with 90W wired and 50W wireless fast charging support.

Camera

Vivo’s premium smartphones have received plenty of praises for their photography experience and the focus on camera performance is no different this time around either. The next gen devices will debut with the 4th Gen Zeiss imaging system and Zeiss T* coating. The base Vivo X300 will feature a 200MP HPB main camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor size, which will be paired with a 50MP ultra wide angle lens and a 50MP Sony LYT602 periscope telephoto shooter with 3x optical zoom.

For selfies and video calls, the brand will likely offer a 50MP camera on both models. With the Vivo X300 Pro, you get a larger a new 50MP, 1/1.28-inch type CMOS image sensor for the primary camera along with an 85mm 200-megapixel Zeiss APO telephoto camera and a 50MP ultra wide angel lens. The duo will arrive with 4K 60fps portrait video recording, Vivo’s V3+ imaging chip, and CIPA 4.5-level and CIPA 5.5-level advanced optical stabilization.

Launch Timeline

Vivo has officially confirmed that its next flagship smartphones, the Vivo X300 series, will launch on October 13 at 7PM (China time). These devices will also launch with a camera kit for telephoto extension.

According to recent reports, the Vivo X300 series of flagship phones could be officially unveiled in September this year. Well before the official announcement, trusted tipster Digital Chat Station has shared what seems to be the core specifications of a device believed to be the Vivo X300 Pro Mini.

Vivo X300 Pro Mini specifications (rumored)

As per the leak, the Vivo X300 Pro Mini may feature a 6.3-inch flat OLED screen with a 1.5K resolution and an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor. The phone is also said to incorporate LIPO display packaging technology, which will allow it to sport ultra-narrow bezels.

Internally, the device will reportedly be powered by the Dimensity 9500 chipset—MediaTek’s upcoming flagship SoC. As per reports, the chip will debut in September.

The leak further states that the X300 Pro Mini’s rear camera setup will include a 50-megapixel Sony IMX882 periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. This module is said to include a precision optical focus prism, likely enhancing zoom stability and focus accuracy.

Back in June, DCS also hinted that this upcoming device may house a 7,000mAh battery—an upgrade over the 5,700mAh unit found in the X200 Pro Mini. In today’s leak, the tipster claimed that the device will have support for wireless charging. It is also expected to come with a high level of waterproofing, suggesting that it may carry an IP68/69 rating.

Lastly, there is some uncertainty around the device’s final name. While its size suggests it could launch as the X300 Pro Mini, some reports claim Vivo might market it simply as the X300.

Compact smartphones have made a comeback in recent months. For a long time, this segment was primarily dominated by offerings from Samsung, Apple, and Google.

In recent years, Xiaomi entered this category with its base flagship model. A few months ago, Vivo also joined the list with a “mini” version of its flagship phone. More recently, OnePlus made its entry into this segment with much fanfare.

As we are only halfway through the year, several more compact smartphones are expected to launch. Let’s take a look at the anticipated models.

Upcoming Compact Smartphones

Vivo X200 FE

The Vivo X200 FE is expected to be released in global markets in July. According to the information available, the device will be a rebranded version of the Vivo S30 Pro Mini, which was recently launched in China.

For context, the design of the S30 Pro Mini is reminiscent of the iPhone 16. However, the IP69-rated handset is built around a slightly larger 6.31-inch display compared to the iPhone’s 6.1-inch screen. The 1.5K (2640 x 1216 pixels) OLED display on the Vivo supports up to a 120Hz refresh rate.

Internally, the phone features a MediaTek Dimensity 9300 Plus chip and a 6,500mAh silicon-carbide battery with support for 90W wired charging. It also comes with a versatile camera system, which includes: a 50MP Sony IMX921 primary sensor, a 50MP Sony IMX882 3x telephoto shooter, an 8MP ultrawide unit, and a 50MP front-facing camera with autofocus.

Google Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro

The Pixel 10 series is expected to be unveiled in August. The base model and the Pro version will continue to feature a compact form factor.

The duo is anticipated to sport a 6.3-inch OLED display. Much like their predecessors, the standard Pixel 10 will likely offer an FHD+ resolution, while the Pixel 10 Pro is expected to have a higher 1.5K resolution.

Both models will be powered by the new Tensor G5 chip; however, they are said to feature different camera systems. For the first time, the standard variant will reportedly include a third telephoto sensor, though its other sensors will be a downgrade from the previous generation. The Pixel 10 Pro, on the other hand, is expected to retain the same camera hardware as its forerunner.

Apple iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro

The iPhone 17 lineup is expected to be unveiled in September and will reportedly feature a new design. As usual, the standard and Pro models are said to retain their compact form factor.

Their display sizes are anticipated to increase from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches. In a significant upgrade, the base iPhone 17 will also support a 120Hz refresh rate (ProMotion) for the first time.

The smartphones are expected to be powered by the A19 series of chips and are also rumored to include an upgraded 24MP front-facing camera.

The duo will be accompanied by two larger models: the iPhone 17 Pro Max and a new, thinner iPhone 17 Air.

Xiaomi 16

The Xiaomi 16 series is expected to launch in September, a month earlier than its predecessors. The standard model will continue the tradition of being a compact smartphone, marking the fifth consecutive generation to do so.

According to leaks, the handset will be built around a 6.39-inch display and will be powered by the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset.

Notably, the device is rumored to include a large 7,000mAh silicon-carbide battery. For comparison, the current-generation Xiaomi 15 has a 5,400mAh cell.

The rear camera system will reportedly consist of three 50MP sensors, offering wide, ultrawide, and telephoto perspectives. Finally, the phone is expected to ship with HyperOS 3, based on Android 16.

Vivo X300 Pro Mini

The Vivo X300 Pro Mini is anticipated to be released in October. It will be the company’s third compact smartphone, following the X200 Pro Mini and S30 Pro Mini.

The device is expected to feature a 6.3-inch display with an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. A large 7,000mAh silicon-carbide battery will power the handset.

The phone is also tipped to retain a periscope telephoto camera alongside an ultrawide unit. Unlike its predecessor, it will also offer support for wireless charging.

Vivo introduced the X200 Pro mini smartphone as part of its flagship X series last year. The model appears to be continuing with the X300 series, as leaks about it have already started surfacing online.

Vivo X300 Pro mini might come with a 7000mAh cell

The latest comes from well-known tipster Digital Chat Station, who may have just given away one of the phone’s standout features. In a now-edited post, the leaker claims that an upcoming 6.3-inch device will feature a battery rated at around 7000mAh.

The post didn’t name the device outright, but all signs point to it being the Vivo X300 Pro mini. For comparison, the X200 Pro mini is equipped with a 5700mAh battery, which is already impressive for its size. A bump to 7000mAh will make the phone more durable, given the rest of the hardware doesn’t weigh it down.

An earlier report also hinted at a significant battery upgrade for the X300 model, and this new leak seems to back that up.

While we do not know much about the X300 Pro mini, let’s take a quick recap of the X200 Pro mini’s specs. 

The phone has a 6.31-inch LTPO AMOLED display capable of pumping out 1B colors, with HDR10+ support and a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the phone runs on Android 15 with MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400. 

The camera system is co-engineered with Zeiss, featuring a triple 50MP setup: a wide sensor with OIS, a 3x optical zoom periscope telephoto, and an ultrawide with autofocus. You also got laser autofocus, Zeiss T* lens coating, and 4K video recording. 

For selfies, you get a  32MP ultrawide front camera, capable of 4K video, while audio is handled by stereo speakers—though yes, the 3.5mm headphone jack is absent.

The Vivo X200 FE and Xiaomi 16 are expected to bring massive battery packs. While the X200 FE has already been spotted in recent leaks, the Xiaomi 16 is getting a new compact flagship rival with the Vivo X300 Pro Mini.

Vivo X300 Pro Mini: Upcoming compact flagship with big batteries

The latest information arrives from known tipster Yogesh Brar, who shared details regarding the Vivo X200 FE, Xiaomi 16, and even the Vivo X300 Pro Mini. In a recent tweet, Brar claimed that the Vivo X200 FE will pack a sizeable 6,500mAh battery pack, which is in line with our previous reports. On the other hand, the Xiaomi 16 has an even larger 6,800mAh cell.

But one of the more interesting details revealed in the tweet was info regarding the new Vivo X300 Pro Mini. Just like the X200 series, the Vivo X300 lineup is rumored to consist of a X300, X300 Pro Mini, X300 Pro, X300 Ultra. Now, the tweet claims that the Vivo X300 Pro Mini is “in between” the Xiaomi 16 and Vivo X200 FE in terms of battery size, which is around 6,500mAh and 6,800mAh capacity.

The tipster states that the Vivo X200 FE is set to debut in the first half of this year, so the device should be here by July. It is expected to be a rebranded version of the Vivo S30 Pro Mini. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 16 is expected to launch in H2 2025. Considering how the Xiaomi 15 debuted in China in October 2024, the next gen flagship might also get a similar launch timeframe.

Vivo’s first half of 2025 for the Chinese market will see the arrival of the Vivo X200 Ultra and Vivo X200S. The brand is also said to be working on the Vivo X Fold 4 foldable phone, which may launch around mid-2025. The last quarter of this year is expected to see the arrival of the X300 lineup. A new leak by well-known tipster Digital Chat Station reveals that the product strategy for the X300 lineup may include four models.

Vivo X300 series’ product strategy tipped

The above leak is about Vivo’s flagship series, the X300 series. The machine-translated text reveals that the lineup will include two lower models and two top models, hinting that the lineup may comprise the Vivo X300, X300 Pro Mini, X300 Pro, and X300 Ultra.

The lower-end models, likely the Vivo X300 and X300 Pro Mini, are tipped to feature flat displays, whereas the company may adopt larger quad-curved screens for the higher-end variants, namely, the X300 Pro and X300 Ultra.

DCS added that the reason behind offering smaller models with flat displays and larger ones with curved screens is mainly due to hardware constraints and internal component arrangement. The tipster also mentions that the 200-megapixel periscope camera with a large sensor is too big to fit into smaller devices, indicating that only the higher-end models will feature it.

The above leak contradicts DCS’ previous leak that claimed that suggested that the lineup will have three models, such as Vivo X300, Vivo X300 Pro, and X300 Ultra. The leak suggested that the X300 would not have a 6.7-inch screen like the X200 but would be a smaller model equipped with a 6.31-inch display like the X200 Pro Mini.

Readers should note that the exact monikers of Vivo’s next-generation X-series flagships are not known, and the above-mentioned ones are just tentative names. Therefore, it is advisable to take the above report with a pinch of salt.

The Vivo X300 series is expected to launch in October this year. Except for the Ultra variant, all other models are likely to feature the next-generation Dimensity 9500 chip. As for the Ultra edition, it may debut in the first half of 2026 with the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chip onboard.
